Two bacterial strains, designated JAM1T and JAM7T, were isolated from a methanol-fed denitrification system treating seawater at the Montreal Biodome, Canada. They were affiliated within the genus Methylophaga of the Gammaproteobacteria by analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences. Strain JAM1T had the capacity to grow under denitrifying conditions by reducing nitrate into nitrite which is unique among the species of the genus Methylophaga . The morphology of adult instars of two South African oribatid mites Galumna lawrencei Jacot, 1940 and Galumna capensis dissimilis Engelbrecht, 1969, is analyzed, resulting in the following new taxonomic proposal: G. lawrencei Jacot, 1940 (=G. capensis dissimilis Engelbrecht, 1969 syn. nov.). Comparison was based on the lectotype and paralectotypes (for G. lawrencei) and on the holotype and paratypes (for G. capensis dissimilis). Comments are made on the type material.

This paper presents an a posteriori error analysis for the discontinuous in time space–time scheme proposed by Jamet for the heat equation in multi-dimensional, non-cylindrical domains Jamet (SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 15 (1978) 913–928). Using a Clément-type interpolant, we prove abstract a posteriori error bounds for the numerical error. Early American acarologists proposed several species that have been recombined to the oribatid mite genus Epidamaeus (Damaeidae), but none has been redescribed to modern standards. Jamat-e-Islami (JI) started as a social movement in 1941 and became an influential group to support Islamic constitution in Pakistan. Later, the leaders of this movement decided to take part in electoral politics. And in 1957, the movement evolved into a political Party. Women’s participation in the Tablīghī Jamā‘at, an Islamic reform movement launched in the 1920s that emphasizes personal piety, remains underexamined, impeded by the organization’s strict pardāh requirements but also by the popular perception that it is a body of male preachers. While there is no indication that its founder wanted women to play an active role in his movement, women were a part of the Jamāt a few decades later.
