Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to demonstrate the diversity of solutions on the issue of connecting to a database, including a description of the developed connection controller class, as well as various ways to create connection pools on a web server and application servers. The article discusses the practical issues of using JDBC technology when building a Java web application. In the examples, the presentation and business layer of the application are developed using JSP-pages and servlets, the database operates on the MySQL platform. The described methods for creating and configuring a connection pool are shown on the example of the ApacheTomcat web server and the GlassFish application server. The question of optimizing database connections in Java applications remains open, despite the diversity of solutions. The study examines and proposes methods for constructing classes of connectors, various methods for creating pool connections, and describes the results of solving problems arising from the implementation of the described techniques. A detailed classification of ways to connect to the database is given.

Abstract:
Project management is an important task in business although project is not just confined to business. Due to the uncertainty of the various variables involved in a project, over several past decades research is going on in the search for an efficient project management model. Although numerous crisp models are easily implementable, the potential of fuzzy models are huge. In the case of software development, the variables involved are highly dynamic. In this paper, we propose a ranking based fuzzy model that can prioritize various activities. We use a popular crisp model to test the effectiveness of the fuzzy model proposed. Simulation is done through Java Server Pages (JSP). There is considerable computational and managerial advantage in implementing the fuzzy model.

Abstract:
In order to promote the development of intelligent teaching system, artificial intelligence technology is combined with computer assisted instruction (CAI) system to produce intelligent CAI (ICAI), and the design of ICAI is studied in order to facilitate the application and implementation of intelligent teaching system. First, there is an introduction of the basic concepts, related theories, and implementation principles of ICAI. Then, the requirements of ICAI are analyzed in detail on the basis of studying the relevant technologies required by ICAI, including the functional and non-functional requirements. The subsystem is set based on the different needs of the target users (administrator, teacher, and student users). Finally, the general and functional structure of ICAI are designed, and there are tests for the system functions. The results show that the system takes Java Server Pages (JSP) as the development language, Struts2 as the technical framework, and SQL Server 2008 as the back-end database, which realizes a teaching platform mainly for teachers, students, and administrators. After testing, the overall operation of the system is good, and the functional test results of the login module, homework release, and learning resource upload meet the software design requirements. The response time of the system prolongs, the number of users who can’t successfully log in grows, and the utilization of server central procession unit (CPU) and memory utilization both increase, which are caused by the increasing number of concurrent users. The results indicate that the combination of CAI and artificial intelligence (AI) technology can meet students’ online teaching demands, break the time-space limitation of traditional teaching, and provide important reference value for the reform of teaching mode and the improvement of teaching quality

With the development of computer network technology, Java has a fairly extensive use of die circumference. Especially in recent years, the development of the smart phone system is also stimulated the use of the Java language. In this paper, Java server is mainly divided into two categories JSP server and Java EE servers. Java EE function which has more features than perfect JSP servers. Application server is a chief platform of Web-based application. J2EE is a standard of enterprise-scale application server. In this paper J2EE is analyzed from the point of view of software architecture and Java-based application development. Some defects of J2EE are pointed out, such as J2EE being unable to support version management and it having diverse concepts and notions due to its multi-tier architecture. Furthermore, a light weight application server—J Web Frame is developed, which overcomes some problems of J2EE.

Visitors to web pages are, in most cases, restricted to viewing information the page designer has anticipated they will be interested in viewing. Many times this is adequate, but there are instances where the visitor wants the information they view to be based on selections they choose. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Vehicles Directorate anticipates selected customers will have a need to view very large data sets that vary from the satellite payload to the satellite state of health1, and will require controlling what they view in an “ad hoc” manner. In response, AFRL is using Java Server Pages developed within the data center to bring interactive and dynamic web page content to these customers.

TechSat21 is an innovative satellite program sponsored by the Air Force Research Laboratory Space Vehicles Directorate and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. Its mission is to control a cluster of satellites that, when combined, create a “virtual satellite” with which to conduct various experiments in sparse aperture sensing and formation flying. Because TechSat21 customers have a need to view very large data sets that vary from the payload to the satellite state of health1 a modern viewing method using Java Server Pages and Active Server Pages is being developed to meet these interactive dynamic demands.

Abstract:
The Royal Institute of Technology has recently arranged so-called "workshops" to help students with their studies. These workshops give students the opportunity to receive help from assistants. The purpose of this project is to make the administration of the workshop sessions as efficient and seamless as possible. To achieve this purpose, a web application has been designed in Netbeans the development environment and is based on three-layer architecture. This has been implemented using the Scrum development methodology and the Java programming language. Great emphasis was placed on creating a modular application with focus on sustainable development. The result is a web application that can be accessed via mobile devices, tablets, and stationary units. Its performance has been tested and the web application is thus ready to be tested in order to evaluate its effectiveness and impact on the workshop activities.

Abstract:
This work deals with proteins, especially with their structure and kinds of tertiary, or 3D, structure prediction. Tertiary structure prediction is very important for function prediction of this vitally important substance. Bioinformatics do this prediction much more effective and faster, because classical methods of structure prediction directly from molecule are very expensive and slow. On the other hand they are much more exact. Objective of this thesis is to describe tertiary structure prediction methods, describe used tools and possibility of automatic communication with them.  Next objective is describe implementation of server, that will serve to protein engineers for more effective finding of information about tertiary structure from more servers without requesting each of them separately. Results of testing will be described in this work too.

Abstract:
Electronic health record (EHR) refers to the complete set of information that resides in electronic form and is related to the past, present and future health status. EHR standardization is a key characteristic to exchange healthcare information. Health Level Seven (HL7) and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) are intensively influencing this process. This chapter describes the development and experience of a web-based application, TeleOftalWeb 3.2, to store and exchange EHRs in ophthalmology. We apply HL7 Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) and DICOM standards. The application has been built on Java Servlet and Java Server Pages (JSP) technologies. EHRs are stored in the database Oracle 10g. Its architecture is triple-layered. Physicians can view, modify and store all type of medical images. For security, all data transmissions were carried over encrypted Internet connections such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and HyperText Transfer Protocol over SSL (HTTPS). The application verifies the standards related to privacy and confidentiality. TeleOftalWeb 3.2 has been tested by from the University Institute of Applied Ophthalmobiology (IOBA), Spain. Nowadays, more than thousand health records have been introduced.

Abstract:
The widespread use and expansion of the World Wide Web has revolutionized the discovery, access and retrieval of information. The Internet has become the doorway to a vast information base and has leveraged the access to information through standard protocols and technologies like Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), Active Server Pages (ASP), Java Server Pages (JSP), Web databases and Web services. Web services are software applications that are accessible over the World Wide Web through standard communication protocols. A Web service typically has a Web accessible interface for its clients at the front end, and is connected to a database system and other related application suite at the backend. Thus Web services can render efficient Web access to an information base in a secured and selective manner. The true success of this technology, however, largely depends on the efficient management of the various components forming the backbone of a Web service system. This chapter presents an overview and the state-of-the-art of various management approaches, models, and architectures for Web services systems towards achieving Quality of Service (QoS) in Web data access. Finally it discusses the importance of autonomic or self-managing systems and provides an outline of our current research on autonomic Web services.

Abstract:
The overall aim of this study is to determine the performance of selected web-based dynamic middleware systems that are used for designing and implementing dynamic web application systems. This is necessary in a world where more applications are moving to the web, and slow performance of such applications can discourage users, thereby reducing profit, and reduce programmers’ productivity and quality of applications due to slow testing and execution. Java Servlets, Java Server Pages (JSP), Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP), and Personal Home Page (PHP) were used to perform some operations on the server, like retrieving all records from a database stored on the server. The time taken since the query is initiated from the browser, to the time the query result is displayed on the client browser were measured for each of the four middleware systems as an estimate for their performance. Records were increased in multiples of thousands to estimate scalability along with the performance. PHP proved to be more efficient and more scalable.

Abstract:
We present a developed Web-based product design and manufacturing system that supports collaborative Concurrent Engineering. It models distributed systems and databases using Web technologies, so that these distributed system and databases can be accessed anywhere in the world. In such system, product developers can exchange and share product data, communicate with other team members, modify geometry data on particular aspects of the design and maintain operations consistency in all the distributed cooperative sites on a wide variety of platforms. The new system is a Client/Server architecture. The server manages the sharing of the common model, as well as the coordination among multiple users, in which different users can modify different parts of the shared model. In addition, the server supports many client through the Internet, and it also allows peer to peer negotiation, sharing different databases located in different machines, establishing relations between them at run time. A group of users can work together in a common single write mode, which continuously synchronized with the master copy on the central server. The proposal model is producing a new manner and has many algorithms for viewing, editing, synchronizing, and collaboration coordination. It utilizes Java 3D to view 3D CAD files in interactive manner. It introduces an intelligent user interface for editing and modification. STEP, which is international standard introduced by the International Standards Organization (ISO), is used to exchange engineering information. Java Server Page (JSP) is used for Collaboration coordination and semantic-based coordination.

Abstract:
Abstract The purpose of this tool, Rapid Web Application Generator (RWAG), is to allow a user to create a database-driven web application without the knowledge of DBMS and server-side programming. RWAG automatically generates database definitions and ASP pages for manipulating the data. The advantages of using RWAG are as follows: first, a user can create web applications in minutes without ever having to write any code (no need to know ASP, Perl, or Java); secondly, an advanced user can leverage his knowledge of ASP, Perl, Java, JavaScript, HTML, XML and DBMS to expand and customize the web application; thirdly, RWAG allows a user to own a record in the database, which means a record can only be edited by the user who creates it; finally, RWAG provides multiple user access levels. RWAG is ideal for a group of users to share information on the web.
