Abstract:
Abstract We investigated the distinctive characteristics of jean fabrics (denim fabrics obtained from jeans) and compared the physical properties and the hand. We used 13 kinds of jean fabric from commercial jeans and 26 other fabric types. The physical properties were measured using the Kawabata evaluation system, and the fabric hand was evaluated by 20 subjects using a semantic differential method. To characterise the hand of jean fabrics compared with other fabrics, we used principal component analysis and obtained three principal components. We found that jean fabrics were characterised by the second principal component, which was affected by feelings of thickness and weight. We further characterised the jean fabrics according to ‘softness & smoothness’ and ‘non-fullness’, depending on country of origin and type of manufacturer. The three principal components were analysed using multiple linear regression to characterise the components according to the physical properties. We explained the hand of fabrics including jean fabrics using its association with physical properties.

Abstract:
Jeans are considered the most democratic of garments, but some of them may be uncomfortable and, in view of this fact, the objective of this study was to evaluate the comfort obtained by women's jeans considering the influence of the pressure perceived by the users and the measured by sensor film in the interaction of the jeans with the body. By means of a quantitative research of a correlational character, the data on the perception of the comfort of the women's jeans were collected by the application of a questionnaire with students of higher and technical courses of the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Sul - Erechim Campus, aged between 18 and 34 years. The answers were analyzed to see how the participants evaluate their bodies and the jeans available in the market. In the sequence, an experiment was carried out evaluating the perception of comfort that the users had in the use of jeans in different models and fabrics, as well as the pressure was measured by means of sensor film. The data were compared and correlated to determine pressure parameters considered comfortable by wearers during contact of the jeans with the body. It was observed that the pants with elastane presented different results in relation to the opinion of the participants and the pressure measurements shown by the sensors. That is, for both jeans with smaller sizes and those with larger sizes, participants rated jeans as comfortable, but the sensors measured higher pressure results for jeans of smaller sizes. This finding shows that by giving elasticity to the tissue, elastane may be masking excessive pressure being applied to the body and can cause health problems.

Abstract:
When we observe people around us, one of the first things that strikes us is how different people are from one another. Some people are very talkative while others are very quiet. Some are active whereas others are couch potatoes. Some worry a lot; others almost never seem anxious. Each time we use one of these words, words like talkative, quiet, active, or anxious, to describe those around us, we are talking about a person’s personality the characteristic ways that people differ from one another. Personality psychologists try to describe and understand these differences. Recent years have witnessed the ascendance of a new way to conceptualize and investigate the acceptance of men’s denim jeans at different levels of personality and psychological describe ways in which people are different from each other. This follows Maslow concepts and psychological needs. In relation, many Malaysian artists favour jeans wearing during stage shows, drama shooting or film and daily life. For instance, both the artist and the music they sing can play a huge role in which direction the fashion industry moves. Research design is inextricably linked to data analysis. An appropriate design can ensure that the substantive and statistical assumptions for the data analysis such as the assumptions that obtained from the questionnaire distributed to respondents. The hypothesis was tested among 40 male respondents are randomly selected, aged from 23 to 30 years old near Kuala Lumpur from different background such as professional and non-professional. These results provide support for the time horizon hypothesis and suggest further attention to the factors in investigation for future research. The objectives are to understand the cutting styles that fits the person by being able to differentiate various styles available reflecting men’s personality towards jeans styles. By undertaking a quantitative method, the study was able to provide an insight into the personality of self-identity reflection towards men in Kuala Lumpur using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The study emphasizes on whether men’s personality was reflected by different styles of denim jeans. There are signs that this personality and psychological perspectives emerging as a potentially integrative paradigm for personality and psychology as well. This special issue highlights this new appearance and its relevance to a broad of topics in personality and psychology. Result from analysis proves that slim fit jeans was the type of jeans that had the best choice among respondents, followed by straight cut jeans, skinny jeans, regular jeans and tapered jeans. For section ‘denim jeans as reflection of self- identity, it was found that the highest mean score recorded was the statement ‘I like jeans as a casual wear’.

To the Editor.— We wish to report an interesting phenomenon that is probably more widely prevalent than is recognized. An 18-month-old girl was brought to our Emergency Department by her parents for the sudden onset of a bluish rash on the toddler's thighs and abdomen. There was no history of recent viral illness, fever, change in appetite or activity, recent drug or toxin ingestion, or trauma. The mother thought the thighs appeared swollen, but the child was walking normally without any apparent pain or discomfort.

Abstract:
AbstractThe importance of thermal radiation on the Jeans instability is discussed for a magnetized dusty plasma with gravitational effects. The one-fluid MHD equations are developed by assuming that the entropy of each subsystem of plasma is conserved, when the temperature of the plasma species is non-relativistic. The dispersion relation in this case shows that thermal radiation helps to stabilize the Jeans instability. It is shown that the plasma is stable in a certain range of wavelengths. The magnetic field stabilizes the Jeans instability when the wave propagates across the magnetic field. However, for oblique propagation it is seen that the magnetic field does not stabilize the Jeans instability.

AbstractThe conventional Jeans model is modified by the addition of electric charging. The standard procedure of kinetic treatment results in a dispersion relation which describes both the Jeans instability and Langmuir oscillations, with the analog of Landau damping. Coulomb interactions tend to stabilize the Jeans instability diminishing the growth rate whereas the gravitational field tends to destabilize Langmuir oscillations. Collisions between particles are taken into account.

The belt loop is an important part of a standard five-pocket jeans, integrating functionality and aesthetics. Because of common problems such as skewed belt loop, unequal lengths, improper slackness, double lines at the front pocket of the belt loop cover, exposed bottom of the belt loop, asymmetry, too low or too high position of the belt loop, and no light in the back, we tracked the sewing of the belt loop in the jeans production line, analyzed the causes of the problems, and came out with targeted solutions. We analyzed the operation steps of knotting jeans belt loops and then develop daily maintenance measures for knotting machines, provide technical guidance for seamstresses/seamsters and team leaders to enhance the maintenance ability to knot machines, enhance the ability of knotting machines to run well, ensure the stability of jeans belt loops quality, and provide technical reference for quality control of belt loops in the same type of jeans production lines.

Abstract:
Abstract From their very debut, the writers of the Romanian so-called “’80s Generation” dropped altogether the Thaw literary1 formula, which was based on half-truths. Instead, they developed a programmatic discourse that showed a great self-awareness of “the real reality.” Their need to reconquer the real was radically different from propagandist make-believe, and from the ideological verbiage that constituted the official discourse. This essay looks into the specific configuration of a new poetic paradigm by examining critically the challenges of its relation with the material, that is to say everyday reality (with a special focus on the Romanian youth culture in the ’80s) as one of the defining elements of the young generation’s poetry.

Abstract:
In this study, two psychophysical experiments, one on colour preference and the other on colour discrimination, were conducted. To investigate the colour preference for blue jeans, 27 subjects with normal colour vision were asked to rate their visual appreciation of seven pairs of jeans with a colour gradient pattern. Nine LEDs, with uniformly sampled correlated colour temperature (CCT) values ranging from 2500 K to 6500 K, were used to illuminate the jeans. These lights produced a constant illuminance of approximately 200 lux, and their colour rendering indexes were between 79 and 91. In addition, using a Farnsworth-Munsell (FM)-100 Hue Test, the blue-region colour discrimination of 42 observers was assessed for five LEDs of the same type but with different CCTs (2500 K–6500 K, 1000 K interval). The results indicate that there is an optimum CCT of 5500 K for jeans, at which observers were found to exhibit the greatest capability for colour discrimination and the highest rating for colour preference. Interestingly, a significant gender difference was found in this study, which had not been observed in our previous work with quite similar experimental settings but different experimental objects. The findings of this study should provide a deeper understanding for the lighting design of shopping malls for jeans.

Abstract:
AbstractThe Jeans instability of rotating viscoelastic fluid in the presence of uniform magnetic field is investigated using the generalised hydrodynamic (GH) model. A general dispersion relation is derived with the help of linearised perturbation equations using the normal mode analysis, which is further discussed for axis of rotation parallel and perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field in both the weakly coupled (hydrodynamic) and strongly coupled (kinetic) limits. The onset criterion of Jeans instability for magnetised rotating viscoelastic fluid is obtained, which remains unaffected by the presence of rotation and magnetic field but depends upon viscoelastic effects. The graphical illustrations are depicted to see the influence of rotation, Mach number, shear and viscous effects, and sound speed on the growth rate of Jeans instability. It is found that all these parameters have stabilising influence on the growth rate of Jeans instability; hence, they are capable of collapsing to a self-gravitating, rotating, magnetised viscoelastic medium.

Abstract Welding is a job having a high risk for health for the workers. In non-formal industries, many workers ignored their health when conducting welding job. The problem in non-formal industry is the problem of business capital. Therefore, non-formal workers ignore their health because they could not afford personal protective equipment. Apron is one of the personal protective equipment for UV exposure. Utilizing jeans waste as the material of apron is an alternative to resolve the capital problem of non-formal workers and as an effort to recycle unused waste. The initial stage is to test the effectiveness of jeans waste by testing UV exposure between the workers who wore apron and who did not. Measurements were carried out using a UV light meter tool named Lutron. The result showed that jeans were highly effective in reducing UV exposure from welding activities. Therefore, apron made of jeans material can protect against skin irritation from exposure to UV rays caused by welding activities.

Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract Psychological trait describes ways in which people are different from each other. This follows Maslow concepts and psychological needs. In relation, many Malaysian artists favour jeans wearing during stage show, drama shooting or film and daily life. For instance, both the artist and the music they sing can play a huge role in which direction the fashion industry moves. 40 male respondents are randomly selected, aged from 23 to 30 years old near Kuala Lumpur. The study emphasizes on whether men’s personality was reflected by different styles of denim jeans

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to compare a set of product specifications to evaluate appearance and performance characteristics of denim jeans at three price categories, and identify any relationships between price and product quality. Design/methodology/approach This research is as a quasi-experimental laboratory study. The product specifications of jeans are identified. Next, the appearance and performance characteristics of jeans are examined initially and after one and five repeated laundering cycles. The data are analyzed within and between each price category to identify any possible relationship between price and product quality. Findings The price category of jeans does not necessarily reflect different dimensions of product quality. Although higher priced jeans had superior product specifications and visual appearance, they did not show superior performance with respect to all elements of fit, durability, and color performance when these three factors were measured through laboratory testing. Research limitations/implications The limitations of this study from a research perspective include a small sample size, gender-focused sample selection. and the focus on only three retail categories. These limitations impact the generalizability of the results but could serve as a basis for similar studies. The evaluated product quality attributes were limited to intrinsic/measurable characteristics. Future studies should consider the extrinsic attributes of quality, especially as they are related to consumer’s purchasing decision. Practical implications Retailers in moderate and budget price categories can benefit from educating consumers about the quality attributes of jeans that would ultimately influence their post-purchase experience and are not necessarily related to the product’s price category. Educators can use this information to assist in teaching students about the multiple dimensions of materials and assembly choices, and how this will impact their final products as they are learning the apparel product development process. Originality/value The focus of this study on the quantification of intrinsic product attributes is unique and provides measurable data for product evaluation by consumer researchers and industry. The results of this research identify the strengths and weaknesses in the appearance and performance characteristics of jeans in different price categories, and how those may affect consumers’ purchase intention.

<p>This paper proposes the development of textile antennas for applications in radio frequency identification (RFID) systems. Jeans has been used as a dielectric substrate, and, as a conductor, a highly conductive, lightweight and flexible polyester fabric with copper. The dielectric properties of the jeans (electrical permittivity and loss tangent) were characterized using the coaxial probe method and the results compared with those found. Simulated results for the of three antennas using jeans as a textile substrate are shown. Three prototypes of the simulated antennas were built and then measurements were taken (distance (m) versus number of readings) and compared with a commercial tag, good results have been obtained.</p>

Abstract:
Abstract The influence of the κ-deformed Kaniadakis distribution on Jeans instability in the background of f R gravity is investigated, the dispersion relation considering the κ-deformed Kaniadakis distribution is derived by exploiting the kinetic theory. The cases of high and low frequency perturbations are analyzed, respectively, it is found that the range of the unstable modes and the growth rates decrease with the increased distribution index κ in both of high and low frequency regime. Finally, based on the derivation of effective temperature, the relation between Jeans mass and temperature is studied, it is found that lower Jeans mass means that the system is more likely to collapse due to gravitational instability, the system is unstable for lower distribution index κ.

Abstract:
The gravitational instability of an infinitely extending homogenous, partially ionized plasma, permeated by an oblique magnetic field, has been studied to investigate the effects of Hall currents, finite conductivity, viscosity, collision with neutrals and thermal conductivity on the growth rate of the disturbance. The dispersion relation obtained has been solved numerically, and it has been found that Hall currents and collision with neutrals have a destabilizing influence on the growth rate while the other mechanisms reinforce the gravitational instability. Jeans’ criterion, derived within a purely hydrodynamic framework, has been rediscussed along a nonextensive kinetic theory. A new Jeans’ criterion was deduced, which depends on the nonextensive parameter q and the standard Jeans’ wave number is recovered in the limiting case q = 1

This scientific journals aims to show the benefits of jeans waste that can be used for materials that can beused for everyday use. This scientific journal is based on previous research by making alternative productdesigns and prototypes ranging from branding to goods that are ready to be sold and marketed. The productdeveloped is called U-jeans and consists of several types of designs and functions that are all made from usedjeans. This research helps researchers find solutions to reduce jeans waste by product design that attractsconsumers’ attention. The subjects in the previous research were teenagers and the subjects of this scientificjournal were students and the general public. The data collection technique was carried out by survey andobservation while the data analysis technique was carried out using the service learning method with threestages namely pre-production, production and post-production. The results of the research and scientificjournal writing are that researchers gain knowledge and experience that can be disseminated so that they canform a community in the processing of used jeans waste not only by making into items that will be usedprivately but into goods that have functions and aesthetics to be marketed.

Abstract:
The recent judgment of the Corte di cassazione, Italy's highest appeal court in civil and criminal matters, in the so-called “jeans rape case” has caused much controversy and attracted much media attention both in Italy and abroad. The Corte di cassazione has been showered with criticism for purportedly establishing a “jeans alibi”, according to which a woman cannot be raped if she is wearing jeans as she must have consented to their removal. However, this judgment is of significance not merely for this statement but because it is particularly demonstrative of the difficulties faced by the Corte di cassazione in separating law from fact in an appeal on the grounds of illogicality of the reasoning given by the lower court. The Corte has been subject to academic criticism recently for exceeding its competence to review on a question of law and entering into the realm of the merits, criticism which this judgment has undoubtedly fuelled. The aim of this article is to explore the nature of the Corte di cassazione and, in providing a critical analysis of the “jeans rape” judgment, to examine the difficulties inherent within this particular ground of appeal.
