Full textThis thesis seeks to promote african christology. Evangelical soteriology can be summarised as follows : jesus christ is savior because he is god-man. But to articulate the two natures of christ in the african context confronts us with at least two difficulties. First, the idea of "two natures" suggests that we have to do with two different beings. Therefore it is difficult to conceive our savior as one person with two natures. Second, the concept of nature is missing in most of the african cultures. Therefore it is difficult to speak about jesus christ where intellectual abstractions are not part of the local language. African theologians must look for an alternative. This we unedrtake through the review of the two natures of christ in k. Barth's christology, and through the analysis of the chalcedon creed. These two steps allow us to articulate the problems raised by the concept of nature and that of person. Finally, as christology deals with an event and not an idea, it should be relational and dynamic, using african symbols for a better understanding by africans
