This study aims to investigate how legal origin and cultural values can affect the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the cost of equity. Specifically, common law and civil law countries (legal origin) and countries with high long-term orientation are compared. The research is conducted by using panel data of 5,533 firm-year observations from 1,492 unique firms during a sample period of 2005 through 2013. Can momentum trading strategies beat Dutch or German stock market indices? If so, dothose strategies show significant positive net returns? Following the work of Kuo and Paunescu \cite{me_1}, we look at the classical problem of classifying function germs (ℂ2,0) → (ℂ,0). The aim is to find a condition which is finer than the classification by topological type, but which does not generate too many strata. Using a global sample of multinational corporations (MNCs) and their foreign subsidiaries, we find that repatriation taxes impair subsidiary-level investment efficiency.
