Full textCarboxylic ionophores used as anticoccidial additives in poultry feed are currently under reevaluation by the European food safety authority in order to assess the safety of the consumer. This work has contributed to the knowledge of pharmacokinetics of monensin in chickens and turkeys and salinomycin in chickens in order to establish some generalities about carboxylic ionophores in poultry. The three examples taken as experimental subject during this thesis have shown a low oral bioavaibility and a rapid elimination driving to a calculated withdrawal period of less than 22 hours in any case. During these works, in vitro and in vivo experiments were used to attribute values to parameters allowing to implement a physiologically based pharmacokinetic model. A physiological model of monensin in chickens has then been tested. Simulations of this model reproduce concentrations observed after a single administration by intravenous or oral route but overestimate concentrations after repeated oral administrations in the supplemented food

Full textThe Dilectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) employed here consists of a surface electrical discharge established in air at atmospheric pressure on a dielectric wall. This discharge ionizes the ambient air and the produced species charged submitted to Coulomb forces induce by a momentum transfer a flow called electric wind. Recently, the ability of this device to control subsonic airflow around of aerodynamic profils has been demonstrated. The DBD used here is called plasma actuator. These actuators are able to modify the boundary layer close to the wall by the electric wind. The goal of this thesis is to improve the aerodynamic performances of an airfoil, either by increasing its lift or by reducing its drag, either by delaying the stall of the profile. The present work divides in two parts. The first part has consisted in developping and optimizing a dielectric barrier discharge in order to understand its operating. For that, a parametric study has been conducted by varying the electrical, physical and geometrical parameters. Electrical and mechanical measurements have been realised. Then the electromechanical parameters such as efficiency have been determined and compared. These different studies allowed to define a system of parameters allowing to obtain an optimum DBD in terms of electric wind generation and fiability. The second part has consisted in integrating the optimised plasma actuator on a NACA 0015 profile and in testing its effectiveness to control an airflow up to 40 m/s. For that, Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurements and force balance measurements have been realized without, and then with control. The influence of different parameters (frequency and intensity of excitation, operation mode) has been investigated. It was highlighted an airflow modification under the effects of control which favors the reattachemnt or the detachment. The effectiveness of the steady and unsteady actuations of the actuator has been compared. Modulated by a dimensionless frequency F+, the unsteady mode presents equivalent results and even greater than the steady actuation while reducing the consumption of the DBD

Full textThe Squeeze Film Damper (SFD) is a component used in the aeronautical industry for damping aircraft engines rotors guided by roller bearings and working at supercritical regimes. The vibration of the rotor entrained by an external excitation is then damped by a thin film confined between the roller bearing and the engine casing. A modelling of the thin fluid film is then necessary for a good estimation of the forces engendered by the vibrations of the rotor. For industrial working conditions, the SFD is provided with feeding and sealing systems that must be taken into account in the theoretical model. Moreover, low pressures engendered in the film entrain the vaporisation of the fluid that must be also taken into account. Meanwhile, for real working conditions the flow is dominated by inertia effects and a simple model based on Reynolds equation is not appropriate any more. The model must be then based on a system of equations similar to Navier Stokes equations

Full textThe Multifaceted Poetry of Jerome Rothenberg deals with the methods applied by Jerome Rothenbergs poetics. Born in New York, in 1931, Rothenberg was part of a generation in between well known poetic movements: the beatnik poetry from the 1950s e 1960s and the language poetry of the 1970s. With fellow poet Robert Kelly, Rothenberg starts the deep image in the 1960, a short-lived movement, yet an essential one for his poetic development. Rothenberg is better known for having coined the term etnopoetry and for his experimentations with what he called total translation, while working with North-American Indian poetry. Total translation was an innovative method in considering musicality, the presence of word distortions or meaningless words and other poetic mechanisms of Indian poetry as an integral part of a poem or song, so that the resultant translation would necessarily contemplate all these aspects. From the perspective of his saying primitive is complex, Rothenberg starts considering the characteristics of poetry from oral culture, or those called primitive, as the basis for his concept of an etnopoetics. His search for the primitive also connects him with authors read as experimental in poetry, from William Blake and Walt Whitman to Allen Ginsberg, passing through the modernist triad Ezra Pound, William Carlos Williams and Gertrude Stein. The hypothesis of this thesis is to show how the etnopoetic impulse, apparently restricted to his work as anthologist and translator, is, in reality, much more broad in its spectrum and includes his own poetic production. Etnopoetry then becomes the concept we can use to read his return to his Jewish ancestrality and the poems dealing with topics such as the life of Jews in Poland in the 1930s, the mystical kabbalah and the Holocaust. This thesis also shows his insertion in the poetic scene, and debates questions like authorship, influence, and originality

It remains nonetheless possible to look for jeremiah's own declarations on several subjects. Such a quest is here undertoken concerning the question of the temple. The first part is a study of the terminology of the temple used in the book of jeremiah in the second part, several passages in jeremiah which appear to be concerned with the question of the temple are submitted to detailed exegesis. Full textThe figure of the idiot provides a key to Charyn’s imaginary landscape. The recurrence of the motif does not mean, however, that it is immediately intelligible. Charyn’s idiocy is, indeed, multifaceted and originates in an essentially personal vision. Despite undeniable intertextual references – Charyn names Faulkner’s Benjy as a main source of inspiration – marked deviations testify to his independence from other literary models or from the archetypal representations of idiocy. The first part is a typology of idiocy understood as a problematic interaction with the world and in particular with language. Seen at first through the lens of the normal/abnormal dichotomy, the character of the idiot is perceived as monstrous and marginalized on the threefold level of space, speech and story. In some cases the idiot’s radical otherness becomes transgressive, turning him into the center, the subject rather than the object of a then entirely subjective universe. The second part shows the self-reflexive dimension of the idiotic character, through the description of the illiterate Bronx of the forties where he grew up surrounded by traumatized immigrants. This pervasive idiocy contrasts with Charyn’s own singular version of it – he is paradoxically the family idiot because he is the first one to get a degree and to evolve from dumbness towards articulateness. The third part deals with the regeneration of the figure of the idiot through the power of literature, specifically through autofictional writing, both self-reflexive and mythologized. Charyn becomes his own character, an idiot named Jerome, and reinvents his childhood idiots (his father Sam, mother Fannie, brother Harvey). The writer’s wordless music, or idiolect, is eventually externalized, giving birth to an original, idiosyncratic literary voice

Abstract: This study aimed to show defined custom orchestration effects found in Hollywood film industry soundtracks, via resources of instrumentation and orchestral tone established by Jerry Goldsmith. Under a chronological prospect, we outlined the development of techniques and formal method of orchestration through scores, at the same time with the evolution of instrumental sets in European music history. The spreading of symphonic music¿s boundaries and the technical innovation developed by the great composers became reference to us to focus to the first original music composers in the classical Hollywoodian cinema, and here we run into the first movies that depict the supernatural and the unknown mysteries of mankind, specially by Bernard Herrmann. The required tricks to creat a new orchestral sound which intended to play monsters and aliens in the music track ¿ human suffering as well ¿ turn up, as a last resort, our last mission: Jerry Goldsmith¿s legacy and the effects of the orchestral sounds on film

Full textEven before settling permanently in Bethlehem, Jerome performs routine visit to Palestine, in his desire to know in depth and direct the holy places where Christ lived. Similarly, its concern to achieve a genuine know the scriptures him to undertake the arduous learning Hebrew. The first letters of his correspondence conserved dating from 380-381, years in which the author begins precisely at Chalcis, his introduction to the language of the Old Testament. The letters then written to reflect the difficulties faced by the father of the Vulgate throughout its review of the common translations of the Bible from Greek and Hebrew moose. The questions posed by cultivated and curious corresponding learn about the content of these moose are also the cause of philological comments from the Stridonien. The letters are therefore an excellent reflection of support for analyzing interactions between source culture and target-culture by interviewing many vocabulary difficulties and interpretation faced Jerome and the commentators cited by him, when it comes to spend Hebrew text to his Greek and Latin versions. This study is interested in Hebrew questions contained in the correspondence. The emphasis in Hebrew, in letters, and even in epistolary form, raises questions about the singular representation of the Hebrew language and the culture that surrounds it, and the image of 'interpres related to this representation. The challenges inherent in the resolution of this issue is important, since they relate both to how the Hebrew Bible is understood and translated by Jerome, the intellectual categories put to use by the letter writer to meet the challenges , the dogmatic consolidation of the fourth-century Church but also to the paradoxical question of the authority of the translator. The scrutiny of Hebrew texts by Jerome raises a major contradiction between the traditional conception of the relationship between barbarians and civilized languages languages, and the idealization of a quest for the Hebraica ueritas, put on the same plane as the trip to Earth Ste. It is therefore understand why and for what a Westerner grown as Jerome embarked on the difficult translation of the Bible from Hebrew. The adoption of such a reflection angle is mobilizing historical, historical-theological and linguistic, since we must consider the relationship between Jews and Christians in the fourth century. To highlight and clarify these issues, this analysis discusses, first, the definition anew intellectual Jerome profile by standing for this, with a view to transmitting knowledge related to the Hebrew Bible . This initial assessment leads to consider, second, how the author of mania Correspondence Hebrew, and putting in a new way, this handling in relation to the structure of letters and literary and rhetorical strategies that are are deployed. Third, we sought to understand what object representation of Hebrew study emerges from the corpus studied and how Jérôme proceeded to transform this representation source of authority for the Christian dogma as for himself - ironically, as a translator. The demonstration involves a central concept to analyze Jerome's methodology, that of ἱστορία. By combining different approaches related to the Hebrew issues, this analysis seeks to demonstrate that the wealth of Jerome's correspondence is far from having been fully covered by research and that some aspects, especially the interdependence philological and ideological perspectives were still fairly extensive

Full textThe trajectory of the director and researcher in the field of performing arts Jerzy Grotowski is divided in five periods: Theatre of Productions, Paratheatre, Theatre of Sources, Objective Drama and Art as Vehicle. The Doctoral Thesis traces an itinerary through the last stage of Grotowski´s work, called Art as Vehicle and developed since the mid-eighties at the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards in Pontedera, Italy. In the present Thesis, starting from its author´s first hand experience as a doer, each one of the elements of work that configure the corpus of the practice of Art as Vehicle is described and systematically analyzed, as well as the principles that underlie them. Through an approach from a double, theoretical-practical, perspective and starting from Grotowski´s own “voice” as well as the ones of the heirs of his legacy, Thomas Richards and Mario Biagini, and of reknown professors, practitioners and specialists, a possible Poetics of Art as Vehicle is proposed.
