This thesis focuses on the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme, under which thousands of foreign graduates have been invited to work as language teaching assistants in Japanese schools, in the name of 'grassroots internationalization'. Although JET was launched in 1987 amid a wider government-sponsored campaign of internationalization (kokusaika), opinions have differed as regards the objectives and priorities of its creators, while the concept of kokusaika itself has also been subject to a wide variety of interpretations. The thesis begins by offering five perspectives on kokusaika, as both a concept and a policy orientation. Two of these reflect common themes in 'Western' discourse on societal internationalization, namely ethnic/cultural diversity and globalization; while the remaining three pertain to more traditional Japanese policy concerns, i.e. the national economic interest, the 'national identity', and international prestige. Against this conceptual background, the Main Study assesses the characteristics of the JET Programme as an 'internationalization policy', both in te1ms of intended and de facto outcomes. Four aspects of the programme-'goals', 'operational policy', 'implementation' and 'perceived effects'-are examined, each in a separate chapter. To reflect both 'official' and 'unofficial' positions, analysis is based on a combination of data from government sources (policy statements and documents) and first-hand accounts from 'ordinary' JET participants, i.e. 'grassroots discourses'. The study detects a number of contradictions between the declared goals of the programme and the operational policy established for achieving them, and reveals a wide diversity of outcomes. Most fundamentally, the study finds that the 'internationalization' promoted by the JET Programme is geared less towards supporting systemic change within Japanese society than in furthering perceived overseas interests.

Aiming at internationalisation, the Japanese government initiated the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme in 1987 by introducing team-teaching by Japanese teachers of English (JTEs) and young graduates from overseas as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) into English language classrooms throughout Japanese public schools. Previous studies have shown that there have been, in some cases, a lack of interaction and collaboration between the JTEs and ALTs. However, these studies tended to focus mainly on classroom activities and consequently the teams were found to be the main cause of ineffective teaching and learning. In order to gain a deeper understanding of these team-teaching interactions and problems, the conceptual framework of this ethnographic case study was based on Holliday’s concept of small cultures and Lave and Wenger’s theory of communities of practice. It aimed to explore how team teachers’ (JTEs’ and ALTs’) perceived and actual roles are influenced by school cultures, as well as which aspects of the school cultures could impact on the effectiveness of the JET Programme. It also investigated the ways in which the ALTs are welcomed and accepted into the schools as well as how the ALTs cope with the contexts of specific school settings and cultures. Data for the study were obtained from 4 ALTs, 7 JTEs, 3 administrative teachers and 1 PE teacher through semi-structured individual interviews, observations of team-taught lessons of 5 teams and school activities outside the classrooms which ALTs attended, as well as fieldnotes, artefacts and documents. The findings revealed the complexities of the school cultures (as small cultures) and the effect that these cultures have on the perspectives of ALTs and JTEs, their roles and contributions and on the relationships between the ALTs and JTEs. The cultures also strongly affected the roles of schools as teachers’ professional learning and development communities (communities of practice). This study suggests that the JET Programme needs to be tailored to the specific culture, and that influential people in each school should be involved to overcome any difficulties caused by cultural aspects. These approaches may create supportive professional development communities within the schools and improve collaboration between the JTEs and ALTs.

Culture shock and reverse culture shock are profoundly personal experiences affecting individuals in a multitude of diverse ways. They happen inside each person who encounters unfamiliar events and unexpected situations. For people who work abroad (sojourners), cultural adjustment is a significant time in their lives. Following the examination of cultural adjustment, a review of literature is explored, highlighting sojourners' acculturation and coping strategies. A case study of the JET (Japanese Exchange Teaching) Programme is presented through an analysis of public documents and interviews with JET staff and former sojourners. Findings report that JET sojourners experience adjustment difficulties with reverse culture shock and that there exists an unavailability of resources providing support. Limitations of the study are highlighted; areas of weakness were found in the lack of literature addressing the needs and experiences of sojourners, particularly JETs. Recommendations and suggestions for future research in the field of social work are made.

This study investigates consequences of hiring native English speakers, many of whom are untrained as teachers, to teach English in foreign language contexts. The focus is on Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) on the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme. Two discourses, nihonjinron (theories of Japanese distinctiveness) and kokusaika (internationalisation), upon which the programme is founded, provide the framework for analysis. Through surveys and interviews, ALTs' attitudes towards the global spread of English and models of English teaching are elicited. Participants were 120 ALT alumni from the five Inner Circle (Kachru, 1985) countries. Surveys yielded quantitative and qualitative data. Content analysis of four in-depth interviews complements the analysis of survey findings. Results reveal a general lack awareness of the global role of English and its impact on English teaching. The major implication is that training could alleviate many of the consequences that follow from this result.<br>La présente étude examine les conséquences de l'embauche, comme enseignants, de personnes de langue maternelle anglaise pour dispenser des cours d'anglais dans des pays étrangers; ces nouveaux enseignants n'ayant pour la plupart pas suivi de formation à cette fin. Nous nous sommes intéressés plus particulièrement aux auxiliaires d'enseignement au sein du programme Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET). Le cadre théorique se construit à partir des deux discours sur lesquels ce programme est fondé: le nihonjinron (théories de particularités japonaises) et le kokusaika (théorie de l'internationalisation). À travers des sondages et des entretiens, nous avons examiné l'attitude de 120 auxiliaires d'enseignement, originaires des cinq pays du cercle intérieur (Kachru, 1985), face à l'expansion globale de l'utilisation de l'anglais et face aux différents modèles d'enseignement de l'anglais. Nos sondages visaient la collection de données tant qualitatives que quantitatives. De plus, le contenu de quatre entretiens nous a permis d'approfondir l'analyse des résultats des sondages recueillis. Nos résultats révèlent un manque général de connaissance concernant le rôle mondial de l'anglais et des impactes qui en découlent pour l'enseignement dispensé. Une formation adéquate des enseignants devrait atténuer les conséquences néfastes qu'un tel manque de connaissance peut engendrer.

This research seeks to develop further understandings of effectiveness of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme. The JET programme is an internationalisation programme of which employs primarily native English language speakers into the role of Assistant Language Teachers of whom aid in teaching English within school settings across Japan. Inspiration to undertake the project arose through an observation that previous research into the JET programme displays an overwhelmingly negative perspective of the programme’s effectiveness, not least due to the consistent reduction in Japan’s perceived foreign language attainment rates in recent years. This study seeks to develop a new angle of understanding regarding the JET programme, namely through analysing its Assistant Language Teacher’s and Japanese Teachers of English’s perceptions of their own experiences within the programme, and what they each determine effectiveness to be within their own roles. These perceptions were elicited through joint interviews with pairs of Assistant Language Teachers and Japanese Teachers of English of whom work or worked together. Four interviews took place harbouring two participants in each, totalling eight participants. Through utilisation of thematic and multimodal analytical methodologies in tandem, participant pairs’ individual and collaboratively created perspectives were attained. Results displayed the importance of individual relationships towards effectiveness within participants’ working lives. Effectiveness was primarily displayed through empathetic understanding and supporting one another, alongside actions of which allowed participants to challenge the JET programme together and empower their own relationships in the process. Further, theoretical frameworks of language teacher effectiveness are utilised and display intriguing results pertaining to how participants fulfil their working roles, and how these roles act in empowering potentially problematic norms of what a native speaker is.

La participation des jeunes à des activités de jeux est clairement établie. Toutefois, aucune étude ne permet d'identifier les jeunes qui développeront un problème de jeu au cours de leur vie. De manière à diminuer les risques de développer un tel problème, la présente thèse a pour objectif d'implanter et d'évaluer un programme de prévention des habitudes de jeu. Le programme vise une meilleure compréhension du fonctionnement du hasard et le développement d'une attitude plus réaliste envers le jeu. Les résultats démontrent l'efficacité du programme pour améliorer les attitudes et les connaissances des jeunes. De plus, la participation au programme de prévention ne provoque aucun effet iatrogénique sur les habitudes de jeu par contre, les habiletés de résolution de problème n'ont pu être améliorées. Les retombées du programme de prévention et la pertinence d'inclure un volet visant l'enseignement d'une démarche de résolution de problème sont discutées.

V závěru jsou experimentální výsledky porovnány s nasimulovanými daty.

Atualmente, a demanda por grupos de robôs múltiplos são aumentados, eles foram trabalhados em diferentes campos, como logística, transporte e observação de objetivos. Eles foram usados especialmente para tarefas perigosas, que são difíceis para as pessoas realizar, por exemplo, busca e resgate na área de perigo, exploração planetária e detecção remota. A capacidade dos robôs em tarefas difíceis e também precisa das tarefas nos dá poder para usar robôs múltiplos para inspeção em qualquer campo. O objetivo deste projeto é provar vários robôs para trabalhar na supervisão mínima do humano e trabalhar como um enxame e nosso objetivo principal para implementar o algoritmo ABC para controlar robôs múltiplos. Conqunto esses robôs sejam muito simples como um indivíduo, mas podem completar tarefas complexas e realizar tarefas precisas e de alta sensibilidade. Nowadays, researchers are also searching to improve the inspection technique, to reduce human supervision, time and cost, which are very important for the aerospace industry. Although, inspection techniques are used to improve safety indeed using these new methods need to reliable as well, to replace the old one. Nowadays demand for groups of multiple robots are increased, they have been worked in different fields such as logistics, transportation, and target observation. They have been used especially for dangerous tasks, which are difficult for humans to perform for instance search and rescue in the hazard area, planetary exploration, and remote detection. The ability of robots in difficult tasks and also accurate to do the tasks gives us power to use multi robots for inspecting in any field. The aim of this project is to prove multi robots can work on the minimum human¿s supervision and work as a swarm and our main goal to implement the ABC algorithm to control multi robots. Although those robots are very simple as an individual but they can complete complex tasks and accomplish precise and high sensitivity tasks. With these multi robots, instead of single inspection in the certain time and tear down the jet engine, we can apply them to the jet engine while the jet engine is attached to the airplane and we can implement them multiple times for receiving the better results and more safety.

Purpose: The study investigates the effectiveness of JETS, a Cognitive Behavioural Programme, designed for young people (16-18 years) in custody. The research explores group and individual level change against short and long term outcomes, including reconviction and re-imprisonment. Associations between outcomes are investigated, as is the role of individual response to treatment. Method: JETS participants were compared with a custody comparison group on short term measures that are: Malevolent Aggression, Social Anxiety, Social Self Esteem, Impulsivity, Venturesomeness, Empathy, and Locus of Control. Individual change on each measure was explored using a model of Clinically Significant Change (Jacobson and Truax, 2001). Reconviction and re-imprisonment rates at both 12 and 24 months were investigated, including analysis of days post release. Interactions between response to treatment and reconviction were explored. Results: JETS participants improved significantly better than the comparison group on Malevolent Aggression and Locus of Control. JETS participants showed significantly higher levels of Reliable Change and Cut off on Locus of Control as well as being significantly more likely to achieve Reliable Change on 1 or more of the short term measures. JETS participants were significantly less likely to be reconvicted or receive a sentence of imprisonment at 12 and 24 months post release. They also achieve significantly longer periods of release prior to reconviction or re-imprisonment over both 12 and 24 months, whilst controlling for risk. No associations between change on short term measures and reconviction or re-imprisonment were identified. Associations between Time 2 scores on Impulsivity Locus of Control and Social Anxiety and measures of reoffending were observed over both 12 and 24 months periods. Conclusions: This research supports JETS as an effective Offending Behaviour intervention for young people in custody. It demonstrates the importance of multiple level evaluations for both treatment and research purposes. Implications for treatment are discussed.

Using a sample of 10 European countries and 17 industries covering the period 1981 to 1999, we test whether the EU's Single Market Programme had a significant procompetitive effect in terms of a reduction in firms' markups over marginal costs. In the framework of the markup estimation method suggested by Roeger (1995), we employ a panel approach for each of the sectors to test for both an instantaneous structural change between 1989 and 1993 as well as a continuous change in parameters using smooth transition analysis. The results do not indicate a pervasive pro-competitive effect of the Single Market. While markup reductions are found for aggregate manufacturing as of 1993, it is also suggested that markups increased in several sectors in the pre-completion period around the end of the 80s. This is likely to be due to strong increase in concentration and average firm size at the EU level in the second half of the 1980s. La programmation des jeux de reflexion fut consideree comme the drosophilia melanogaster of machine intelligence. Ce domaine devait permettre l'elaboration de techniques et d'algorithmes reutilisables dans d'autres domaines de l'intelligence artificielle. Selon c. Shannon, il s'agit d'un sujet sensible ou l'avancee est facilement communicable au public. Nous abordons cette question dans le cadre de programmes de jeux devant repondre a un probleme dans des conditions de tournois. Nous comparons les differentes recherches minimax basees sur des elagages alpha-beta avec l'algorithme negac* que nous avons defini et donnons les principaux resultats que nous avons etablis sur sa complexite. Nous definissons, dans le paradigme negamax, le nouvel algorithme de recherche de nombre de preuves et nous le comparons avec notre programme d'echecs ecume, dans le cadre des recherches de mats. Nous exposons un ensemble d'heuristiques qui permettent de rendre les recherches negamax plus rapides et plus fiables en explicitant les options que nous avons prises dans nos programmes d'echecs. Nous presentons nos resultats sur la parallelisation de la recherche minimax pour une machine distribuee: la connection machine 5. Ils nous ont permis de definir une nouvelle methode que nous avons comparee aux meilleures methodes connues jusqu'alors, sur des arbres de jeux simules et reels. Nous continuons par la presentation de notre methode de construction de fonctions d'evaluation en expliquant comment nous avons pu introduire la notion de plan strategique. Nous montrons aussi comment construire automatiquement une fonction d'evaluation par apprentissage dans la finale roi et dame contre roi et dame. The focus of this paper is on cross-region R&D collaboration funded by the 5th EU Framework Programme (FP5). The objective is to measure distance, institutional, language and technological barrier effects that may
hamper collaborative activities between European regions. Particular emphasis is laid on measuring discrepancies between two types of collaborative R&D activities, those generating output in terms of scientific publications and those that do not. The study area is composed of 255 NUTS-2 regions that cover the pre-2007 member states of the European Union (excluding Malta and Cyprus) as well as Norway and Switzerland. We employ a negative binomial spatial interaction model specification to address the research question, along with an eigenvector spatial filtering technique suggested by Fischer and Griffith (2008) to account for the presence of network autocorrelation in the origin-destination cooperation data. The study provides evidence that the role of geographic distance as collaborative deterrent is significantly lower if collaborations generate scientific output. Institutional barriers do not play a significant role for collaborations with scientific output. Language and technological barriers are smaller but the estimates indicate no significant discrepancies between the two types of collaborative R&D activities that are in focus of this study. Les problèmes de gestion optimale de l'information sont omniprésents sur les marchés financiers (délit d'initié, problèmes de défaut, etc). Leurs études nécessitent une conception stratégique des interactions entre agents : les ordres placés par un agent informé influencent les cours futurs des actifs par l'information qu'ils véhiculent. Cette possibilité d'influencer les cours n'est pas envisagée par la théorie classique de la finance. Le cadre naturel de l'étude des interactions stratégiques est la théorie des jeux. Cette thèse a précisément pour objet de développer une théorie financière basée sur la théorie des jeux. Nous prendrons comme base l'article de De Meyer et Moussa Saley , "On the origin of Brownian Motion in finance". Cet article modélise les interactions entre deux teneurs de marché asymétriquement informés sur le futur d'un actif risqué par un jeu répété à somme nulle à information incomplète. Cette étude montre en particulier que le mouvement Brownien, souvent utilisé en finance pour décrire la dynamique des prix, a une origine partiellement stratégique : il est introduit par les acteurs informés afin de tirer un bénéfice maximal de leur information privée. Cette thèse traite de diverses extensions de ce modèle concernant l'influence de la grille des prix, l'asymétrie bilatérale d'information, le processus de diffusion de l'information.

L'étude des jeux discrets infinis occupe une place importante au sein des travaux sur la vérification et la synthèse automatique de programmes. Les jeux à deux joueurs fournissent un formalisme simple pour l'étude des systèmes ouverts, où un système informatique interagit avec son environnement. Dans le contexte de la synthèse de programmes distribués, les jeux à deux joueurs ne suffisent plus : on doit disposer d'un modèle de jeux où un nombre arbitraire de joueurs coopèrent. Dans cette thèse, je m'ntéresse à deux modèles de jeux pour la synthèse de programmes. J'étudie dans un premier temps les jeux de parité, en proposant une notion de stratégie permissive, qui capture le fait qu'un programme accepte un nombre de comportements au moins aussi grand que tous les programmes corrects. Je propose en outre un algorithme efficace pour le calcul des stratégies permissives dans un jeu de parité. Dans un deuxième temps, je m'intéresse aux jeux distribués, où une équipe de joueurs Processus affronte un joueur Environnement, en disposant de communications incomplètes entre eux. Je montre que le problème de la synthèse d'une stratégie gagnante dans ces jeux est indécidable, même dans le cas de conditions de gain très simples. Je m'attache alors à définir une classe de jeu distribués au sein de laquelle le problème de la synthèse est décidable, et je montre quelles conséquences en découlent pour un problèmes de synthèse de programmes distribuée classique.

Muon Solenoide (CMS) é um dos quatros experimentos que observam o resultado das
colisões hadrônicas de altas energias geradas pelo LHC, podendo medir com grande
precisão diversos parâmetros do Modelo Padrão das interações fundamentais bem
como propiciar o descobrimento de novos constituintes da matéria e suas interações.
Em sua nova fase de operação, iniciada em junho de 2015 e prevista para durar até
2020, ele vem gerando colisões de prótons a 13 e 14 TeV, propiciando um ambiente

trabalho é investigar a possível existência de ressonâncias pesadas que tenham por
sinal característico seu decaimento em bósons vetoriais massivos do Modelo Padrão,
em particular em um par de bósons vetoriais VZ (V = W, Z). A existência de tais
ressonâncias é prevista em muitas extensões do Modelo Padrão, tais como as que
preveêm la existência de dimensões extras espaciais ou modelo Simplificados que
descrevem novos bósons vetoriais de spin um. Estudaremos o indício da existência de
tais ressonâncias analisando os sinais experimentais surgidos quando o bóson V decai
em dois jatos hadrônicos e o bóson Z decai invisivelmente em dois neutrinos.<br>The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN was designed with the purpose to observe
new phenomena on the high energies frontier. The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) is
one of the four experiments that examine the outcome of hadronic collisions at high
energies generated by LHC. It can measure with great accuracy various parameters of
the Standard Model of fundamental interactions as well as facilitate the discovery of new
constituents of matter and their interactions. In this new stage of operation, initiated
in June 2015 and expected to last until 2020, the LHC generates collisions of protons at
energies of 13 and 14 TeV, providing an environment of discoveries in regions of phase
space still not accessible. The objective of this work is to investigate the existence of
heavy resonances which have as characteristic signature, decaying in massive vector
bosons of the Standard Model, particularly in a pair of vector bosons VZ (V = W, Z).
These kind of resonances are predicted by many extensions of the Standard Model,
such as models with extra dimensions or Simplified models that describe new vector
bosons of spin one. We will examine the evidence of such resonances by analyzing the
experimental signatures that arise when the V boson decays into two jets and the Z
boson decays invisibly into two neutrinos.

We analyze 19:7=fb of integrated luminosity of? s = 8 TeV proton-proton collisions from LHC. In the resonance mass range of interest (1:0 .. 2:5 TeV), the Z and Higgs bosons are produced with large momentum compared with their masses, which implies that the final products of the two quarks and the two taus must be detected within a small angular separation (boosted topology). Jet substructure techniques are used to identify the boosted Z boson decaying hadronically and a modified approach is considered to reconstruct very collimated pairs of tau leptons from boosted Higgs decay. From a combination of all possible decay modes of the tau lepton, heavy spin-1 resonances production cross sections are excluded at 95% C.L. in a range between 0:9 and 27:8 fb, depending on the resonance mass. We consider as benchmark model an effective description of a strongly coupled theory based on the Minimal Composite Higgs Model, which predicts heavy resonances with suppressed branching fractions into fermions. Comparing the experimental limits with analytical expressions of the parameters of a simplified model Lagrangian we obtain observed limits on these parameters, which are directly connected with the heavy resonance production and decay.<br>Apresentamos uma busca no detector CMS por ressonâncias massivas decaindo em um
bóson de Higgs e um boson Z do Modelo Padrão no estado final com um par de leptons tau e um par de quarks. Analisamos 19; 7=fb de luminosidade integrada em colisões próton-próton com energia no centro de massa de 8 TeV no LHC. No intervalo de massa da ressonância entre 1; 0 .. 2; 5 TeV, os bósons Z e Higgs são produzidos com um momento grande comparado a suas massas, isso implica que os produtos finais provenientes de cada par de taus ou quarks devem ser detectados dentro de pequenas regiões espaciais. Técnicas de subestrutura de jatos são utilizadas para identificar o boson Z que decai em quarks. Para o Higgs decaindo em taus é definido um metodo modificado de reconstrução de pares de taus com alto momento e colimados.
Combinando os resultados das análises de cada modo de decaimento do tau, são excluidas com 95% de confiança seções de choque de produção de ressonâncias com spin-1 no intervalo de 0; 9..27; 8 fb, dependendo da massa da ressonância. Consideramos como modelo de referência uma teoria efetiva de Higgs composto, que prediz ressonâncias massivas com pequena razão de ramificação em férmions. Comparando os limites experimentais com expressões analíticas dos parâmetros de uma Lagrangeana de um modelo simplificado, obtemos limites sobre esses parâmetros, os quais estão diretamente relacionados com a produção e decaimento das ressonâncias.

Notre recherche s'intéresse tout d'abord, aux changements survenus en France, depuis l'édification de l'école de Jules Ferry (1882) à nos jours, par lesquels s'est décveloppée la prise en compte des élèves à « Besoins Educatifs Particuliers ». Partant d'une exploration chronologique et sémantique des textes de loi et de l'historique de la désignation des élèves différents, nous faisons ressortir trois grandes périodes qui déterminent trois types d'école : « l'école ségrégative », l'école intégrative » et « l 'école inclusive ». Ces trois phases d'évolutions prennent sens dans les registres de justifications qui permettent de situer les évolutions et les changements dans les termes que les sociologues, Boltanski et Thévenot (1987) ont employés pour décrire des modèles de compétence sociale plus généraux : « le modèle civique », le « modèle domestique » et le « modèle industriel » (Derouet, 1988). Dans le contexte actuel de « l'école inclusive » nous montrons comment les logiques en jeu (Boltanski et Thévenot, 1991) se manifestent et selon quels montages composites (Derouet, 1988) au cœur des pratiques enseignantes du premier degré, face à un public d'élèves à « BEP », dans des classes ordinaires. Notre recueil de données s'appuie sur la méthodologie de récits de pratiques (Berthaux, 1976). L'analyse réalisée amène finalement à distinguer, dans les situations d'inclusion, comment différentes logiques d'action se déploient et se combinent ensemble, suivant quelles dominantes. Ainsi, en observant l'engagement des enseignants dans les situations d'inclusion, cette recherche apporte des outils pour une meilleure compréhension du travail des professeurs des écoles.

I denne kvalitative studien har jeg undersøkt hvordan lærere opplever å jobbe med programmet “Zippys venner”. Hensikten med prosjektet var å få frem deres personlige erfaringer. Studien er basert på empirisk materiale hvor datainnsamlingen foregikk ved kvalitative forskningsintervjuer av 4 lærere i barneskolen. På bakgrunn av det var forskningsspørsmålet følgende: “Hvordan opplever 4 lærere i barneskolen å jobbe med “Zippys venner”, og hva er deres erfaringer med programmet?” I sammenheng med studiens hovedfunn ønsket jeg å belyse lærernes opplevelser og erfaring ut i fra følgende kategorier: 1) Mestringens betydning, 2) Læreren som modell, 3)Fortellingene om “Zippy”. Den første kategorien viser til lærenes tanker omkring mestring. Viktigheten av generell mestring i hverdagen ble trukket frem hvor sosial kompetanse ble fremhevet som et sentralt element. Resultatene viste også at det å tilrettelegge for barns mestring kan være en utfordring. Den andre kategorien beskriver pedagogisk tilrettelegging med fokus på læreren som modell. Det kommer frem gjennom modell-læringen at læreren spiller en viktig rolle for barns mestring. Den tredje kategorien fokuserer på pedagogisk tilrettelegging gjennom de 6 fortellingene som “Zippys venner “ bygger på. De 6 fortellingene sett under ett, kommer det frem i resultatene at lærerne har mange positive erfaringer med den måten å gi barn et innblikk i ulike følelser og utfordrende situasjoner i livet. Noen av fortellingene trekkes frem som ekstra nyttig for barna og lett å overføre til egen livssituasjon, men det refereres til at modulen om kommunikasjon kan forstås som vanskelig for små barn. Resultatene ble blant annet diskutert i lys av Lazarus og Folkmans prosessperspektiv på mestring, Banduras sosialkognitive teori med vekt på modell-læring og Bruners narrativitetsteori med fokus på hvordan fortellinger er en del av vår virkelighet. I avslutningen gis det et innblikk denne studiens funn, hvor jeg ut i fra mine medforskeres uttalelser oppsummert fikk inntrykk av at “Zippys venner” er et positivt bidrag tilbarnas hverdag og kan være med å gi barn innsikt i sosiale og emosjonelle utfordringer de kan støte på. Videre viser jeg til ut ifra modell-læringen hvordan fortellingene kan forstås som en måte å gi barn økt kunnskap om følelsesmessige og relasjonelle sider ved virkeligheten. Deretter referer jeg til at narrativitetsteorien kan gi barn et bidrag for å være i stand til å strukturere og bli bevisst de erfaringer de gjør seg.

The paper applies a non-parametric propensity score matching approach to evaluate the effects of two types of farm programs (agri-environment (AE) programs and the less favoured area (LFA) scheme) on input use and farm output of individual farms in Germany. The analysis reveals a positive and significant treatment effect of the LFA scheme for farm sales and the area under cultivation. Participants in AE schemes are found to significantly increase the area under cultivation (in particular grassland), resulting in a decrease of livestock densities. Furthermore, participation in AE programs significantly reduced the purchase of farm chemicals (fertilizer, pesticide). We also find substantial differences in the treatment effect between individual farms (heterogeneous treatment effects). Le thème principal de ce travail de thèse est de montrer l’interaction existant entre les jeux et les mathématiques au travers d’une catégorie de jeux bien particuliers : les jeux combinatoires. Ces jeux se font sans hasard, sans information cachée et pour chacun des deux joueurs il existe une façon optimale de jouer. Les premiers exemples rencontrés se trouvent dans des écrits de la Renaissance. Les jeux se diffusent aux 17ème et 18ème siècles dans le cadre des récréations mathématiques, genre littéraire et éditorial nouveau qui propose une pratique ludique des sciences fondée sur le défi à l’entendement. L’analyse des jeux combinatoires intéresse ensuite les mathématiciens du début du 20ème siècle, notamment pour les jeux de type Nim. La thèse s’attache à retracer le développement de la théorie mathématique qui se construit autour des jeux combinatoires et aboutit au corps des nombres surréels de John Conway en 1976. En parallèle, elle montre qu’un autre résultat fondamental, attribué à Zermelo (1912), sur la détermination du jeu d’Échecs permet aux jeux combinatoires de s’implanter sur un plan technologique et culturel. Nous voyons les premières machines électromécaniques destinées à jouer au Nim apparaître vers 1940 et se confronter au public lors d’expositions et de salons scientifiques. La naissance des ordinateurs dans les années 1950 ouvre de nouvelles voies pour la programmation du jeu d’Échecs, jeu combinatoire par excellence. La thèse fait revivre les moments forts, faits d’espoirs et de déceptions, qu’a traversés la recherche en programmation d’Échecs, depuis ses débuts jusqu’à la victoire du programme Deep Blue sur le champion du monde Garry Kasparov en 1997<br>The main theme of this thesis is to point out the interaction between games and mathematics by means of a category of very specific games, the combinatorial games. These games are no chance games of perfect information and either player (Arthur or Bertha) can force a win, or both players can force at least a draw. The first examples of combinatorial games can be found in Renaissance works. Throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, games spread as part of recreational mathematics, a new literary and editorial genre that offered an entertaining practice of science based on a challenge to understanding. Then, the analysis of combinatorial games, especially Nim games, aroused the interest of the early-twentieth-century mathematicians. This thesis is devoted to trace the development of the mathematical theory that was formulated around combinatorial games and that led to John Conway’s Field of Surreal Numbers in 1976. In parallel, it shows that another fundamental result on Chess determination, attributed to Zermelo (1912), enabled combinatorial games to become established on a cultural and technological level. Around 1940 appeared the first electromechanical machines, designed to play Nim and to meet the challenges of the audience during scientific exhibitions. The emergence of computers during the 1950s opened new paths for programming Chess, the ultimate combinatorial game. This work brings the highlights, made of hopes and disappointments, which the Chess programming research went through, since its very beginning up to the victory for Deep Blue program over the world champion Garry Kasparov in 1997

In this paper we estimate space-time impacts of the embeddedness in R&D networks on regional knowledge production by means of a dynamic spatial panel data model with non-linear effects for a set of 229 European NUTS-2 regions in the period 1999-2009. Embeddedness refers to the positioning in networks where nodes represent regions that are linked by joint R&D endeavours in European Framework Programmes. We observe positive immediate impacts on regional knowledge production arising from increased embeddedness in EU funded R&D networks, in particular for regions with lower own knowledge endowments. We have in our thesis focused on the bilateral defence and security cooperation between Sweden and Great Britain and investigated if Brexit have led to any consequenses on the cooperation between the two countries. We have also investigated possible consequenses on the bilateral cooperation in regards to Great Britain’s global ambitions. The defence cooperation is viewed from a Swedish perspective. Great Britain is a major security actor with global ambitions. Although, the EU has been a platform for cooperation in different political fields, including defence and security. With Great Britain leaving the EU, Sweden and Great Britain will lose this common platform. This change needs to be considered, especially due to the fact that Sweden has declared the ambition to deepen the defence and security cooperation with Great Britain. In this qualitative study we have turned to experts within the defence and security field with knowledge on the bilateral cooperation between Sweden and Great Britain. We have concluded that the bilateral defence and security cooperation have not been negatively influenced due to the British decision to leave the EU, nor it’s global ambition Global Britain. Although, Great Britain have announced it’s global ambitions after Brexit, we have concluded both that they have an interest in Sweden's vicinity and also that the cooperation have instead deepened during the last couple of years. We can also conclude that there are conditions in favour of a continued and deepened defence cooperation between Sweden and Great Britain. This thesis is written from a Swedish perspective. One of our recommendations for future research is recommending to explore the bilateral Swedish British defence cooperation from a British perspective. Finally, we have concluded that Brexit and Global Britain are not the ”Game Changer” as the title of the thesis imply. This was an assumption we made in the beginning of the work. But as the empirical studies have shown, this is not the case.<br>Vi har i denna uppsats fokuserat på det bilaterala försvarssamarbetet mellan Sverige och Storbritannien och hur Brexit eventuellt påverkar samarbetet. Vidare har vi undersökt om Storbritanniens globala ambitioner påverkar det bilaterala försvarssamarbetet. Vi har belyst försvarssamarbetet ur ett svenskt perspektiv. Storbritannien är en stor säkerhetspolitisk aktör med globala ambitioner och där EU har varit en naturlig plattform för samarbete inom flertalet olika politiska områden inklusive försvars- och säkerhetspolitik. Med Storbritanniens utträde ur EU så mister Sverige och Storbritannien denna gemensamma plattform för samarbete och denna förändring måste hanteras, speciellt då Sverige deklarerar att man vill fördjupa samarbetet med Storbritannien inom försvars-området. I denna kvalitativa intervjustudie har vi vänt oss till sakkunniga inom det försvars- och säkerhetspolitiska området vilka har god kunskap om det bilaterala samarbetet mellan Sverige och Storbritannien. Vi kan konstatera att det bilaterala försvars- och säkerhetssamarbetet inte har fått några negativa konsekvenser kopplat till Storbritanniens utträde ur EU eller dess globala ambition Global Britain. Trots att Storbritannien har aviserat globala ambitioner efter Brexit kan vi dels konstatera dess intresse att verka i Sveriges närområde samt också att vårt bilaterala samarbete snarare har fördjupats de senaste åren. Vi har även kunnat konstatera att det finns goda förutsättningar för ett fortsatt och fördjupat försvarssamarbete mellan Sverige och Storbritannien. Denna uppsats är skriven ur ett svenskt perspektiv. En av våra rekommendationer för framtida forskning föreslår att även utreda försvarssamarbetet ur ett brittiskt perspektiv. Avslutningsvis har vi konstaterat att Brexit och Global Britain inte är någon större ”Game changer” för det bilaterala försvarssamarbetet mellan Sverige och Storbritannien som uppsatsens titel implicerar. Detta var ett antagande vi gjorde när arbetet inleddes, men som utifrån vår empiri inte visat sig stämma.

L'intérêt de notre étude porte sur la création d'un outil permettant de stimuler dans un plaisir partagé le développement de l'enfant atteint d'autisme tout en recréant une collaboration entre la famille et l'institution pour une meilleure cohérence du projet de soin de l'enfant. Notre recherche porte sur un programme d'intervention spécialement conçu pour des enfants atteints d'autisme, programme comprenant une série de jeux semi-structurés, appelé "JE à 2": (Jeu Educatif à 2) dont l'acronyme met l'accent sur le développemnt de soi par l'intermédiaire de l'autre au sein d'une activité ludique. Il s'agit d'étudier l'effet de ce programme d'intervention d'une part sur la symptomatologie autistique, la régulation de leur activité en situation de jeu, leur développemnt socio émotionnel et cognitif, et d'autre part sur la qualité de vie de leurs parents qui utilisent cet outil à domicile. La population est composée de 30 enfants de 3 à 11 ans atteints de troubles envahissants du développement répartis dans trois groupes: passation du JE à 2 à domicile avec leurs parents; passation du JE à 2 en institution avec les professionnels; groupe contrôle ne bénéficiant pas du JE à 2. Nos résultats montrent que les enfants avec autisme ne sont pas pour autant dénués de ressources pour apprendre et se développer. Les enfants stimulés durant 6 mois par le JE à 2 présentent moins de dysharmonie développementale et progressent mieux sur le plan cognitif et socio émotionnel dès le 3ème mois comparé au groupe contrôle. Ces derniers font preuve également de plus d'interaction fonctionnelle dans leur production ludique, ils réduisent leur dysfonctionnement praxique et attentionnel et leur dysrégulation dans le domaine de la variabilité et de la persévération. De plus les parents ayant utilisés le JE à 2 durant 6 mois au domicile rapportent une amélioration dans le domaine des activités et des relations avec leur enfant<br>Children with autism have cognitive and socio emotional difficulties, and disorders of activity regulation. However they are not divested for all that and they have resources to learn and develop himself. Pour ce faire, notre méthodologie, fondée sur l’action didactique conjointe, met en perspective l’apprentissage pendant le jeu : un élève de 5e décrit une image cachée aux autres élèves qui la dessinent pour la deviner ; c’est le but du jeu et le but de l’enseignement-apprentissage. À partir de ce double enjeu ludique/apprentissage, nous modélisons des conditions de possibilités pour qu’une activité d’enseignement-apprentissage de savoirs soit ludique, ce qui abonde dans le sens d’un espace potentiel de développement-apprentissage du jeu en contexte scolaire<br>Play has always been part of the education of the child, and although play and learning activities have far-reaching aims (pleasure for one, knowledge for the other), we show possibilities for a school learning activity to be playful. Des centaines d'Américains partent chaque année vers le Japon pour y enseigner l'anglais en participant au programme JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme) qui est administré par le gouvernement japonais. Leur travail consiste à assister des enseignants japonais dans leurs cours d'anglais dans des écoles publiques japonaises. Plusieurs de ces Américains constatent que l'expérience n'est pas sans difficultés et rapportent de nombreux problèmes communicationnels avec leurs collègues de travail japonais. Or, la communication interculturelle implique la mise en relation de cadrages différenciés, ce qui n'est pas sans effet sur la compréhension mutuelle, surtout entre individualistes (Américains) et collectivistes (Japonais). Notre recherche de nature exploratoire se présente comme une analyse microsociale. Nous analysons le discours de douze anciens participants au programme JET d'origine américaine qui identifient et interprètent les difficultés communicationnelles et relationnelles rencontrées avec leurs collègues de travail japonais au Japon dans le cadre de ce programme. La technique de recueil des données qualitative est donc privilégiée, et l'entrevue de groupe et semi directive sont utilisées. Le paradigme culturaliste domine cette étude posant que nos sujets américains ont intériorisé certaines caractéristiques de leur culture à tendance individualiste. L'objectif principal est d'observer, analyser et comprendre l'influence de cette tendance à travers la perspective de nos sujets dans le contexte de cette interaction avec l'altérité japonaise. Nos a priori théoriques sont culturalistes et interactionnistes. Pour la discussion sur le concept de communication, de culture, et de dimension culturelle individualiste et collectiviste, nos principaux auteurs sont Porter, Samovar, Thayer, Hofstede et Triandis. Pour la perspective interactionniste sur la question de l'émergence de la culture à travers l'interaction, nous avons privilégiés Ladmiral et Lipiansky. Nous proposons une approche interprétative et compréhensive dans l'analyse et l'interprétation des données qui vise à dégager cette signature culturelle et comprendre comment elle émerge dans le rapport à l'autre. Il ressort que l'interaction avec l'autre est un moment clé dans l'émergence d'influences culturelles enfouies. Le rejet, le déni ou la non reconnaissance par l'autre de valeurs, de comportements, ou de croyances qu'ils ont profondément intériorisés et pris pour acquis leur permet incidemment de saisir les contours de leurs propres programmations culturelles. Dans un discours qui oppose le «nous» au «eux», nos participants nous livrent une perspective ethnocentrique chargée de signifiants culturels.

Argentina constituye uno de los principales destinos de las corrientes migratorias intra-regionales, siendo un tradicional país de acogida de inmigrantes bolivianos, chilenos, paraguayos y uruguayos, a los que se suma más recientemente una ola importante de inmigración peruana. Sin embargo, la inserción sociolaboral de los inmigrantes de los países vecinos en Argentina resulta desfavorable y precaria; a su vez, existe evidencia de discriminación en contra de los inmigrantes de la región en el mercado de trabajo argentino. Los inmigrantes radicados en Argentina no sólo enfrentan dificultades en el ámbito laboral, también sufren condiciones de privación y su acceso a servicios públicos también resulta problemático. Los inmigrantes en situación irregular constituyen un grupo particularmente vulnerable. Al compás de los cambios ocurridos a nivel MERCOSUR, la legislación nacional en materia migratoria ha avanzado enormemente en los últimos años. En este contexto, se inicia en el año 2006 un Programa de Normalización Documentaria Migratoria llamado Patria Grande, con el objetivo de lograr la inserción e integración de los extranjeros residentes en forma irregular en el país. Mediante este programa se regularizó la situación de los extranjeros de países MERCOSUR y asociados que residían en Argentina antes del 17 de abril de 2006. La presente investigación aplica el estimador de diferencias en diferencias a los microdatos de la encuesta de hogares argentina con el objetivo de evaluar el impacto de Patria Grande sobre la situación laboral y social de los inmigrantes provenientes de países del MERCOSUR residentes en Argentina. Los resultados señalan que el programa contribuyó a disminuir la informalidad (disminuyendo un 13% la probabilidad de tener un empleo informal vía un aumento en la probabilidad de tener derecho a jubilación y seguro de salud en el empleo) y mejoró el acceso a la educación de los inmigrantes (aumentó 7.5% la probabilidad de asistir a la escuela secundaria o de haber completado el nivel).
