Full textAThe use of violent acts is studied mainly in male adolescents, while the suffering of girls is discussed in terms of hurting their own body, through singular psychopathological symptoms (eating disorders, attacks to the body, scarification ...). This research considers the place and role of being female in the use of violent acts by teenage offenders, with a corresponding number of questions about the meaning of these violent acts, as an expression of a possible change in the present symptomatology of adolescence. The question of specificity of violence from young girls, especially during the adolescent process, particularly the process undermining the concepts of normal and pathological will be asked, as well as the relationship between trauma, femininity, and use of violent acts. The theoretical reference is the psychoanalytic psychopathology in both aspects, intrapsychic and intersubjective, taking into account the tie between the psychic architecture of the subject and the meeting with socius. The methodology is based on a clinical approach, based on interviews and the placing of projective tests, with adolescents who have committed illegal violent acts. This research highlights the variety of psychic functioning in which meet the violent act, the balance of identifications in access to a calm femininity, tempering the impact of trauma and the importance of the sociocultural context in which these violent acts are deployed

Full textIn vladimir nabokov's fiction, maidens are omnipresent. They intensely embody beauty in a paradoxical manner, because of their ephemeral existence and hybrid nature. These ambivalent characters, who stand on the threshold of childhood and womanhood, are both innocent and perverse, beautiful and vulgar, fictive and verisimilar. They are transient and metamorphic figures who challenge representation. To evoke them, nabokov's writing relies on metamorphosis and indirection: their characterization resorts to doubles and massive intertextual and pictorial reference, to fix their ever-escaping image in words. Maidens seem to resist description: the depiction of their changing and desirable bodies are inevitably fragmented, or persistently focus on clothing rather than on the body itself. In fact, nabokov prefers showing the veil covering the maiden to undressing her: he thus favors the ornament, a trend which is stylistically echoed in the amazing rhythm, metaphors, and sound effects in which his text of desire is dressed. Those descriptions sensually appeal to all the senses (nabokov was a synaesthete), and reflect the sensuousness of lolita and her cousins. Moreover, synaesthesia places a mirror between the pleasure of the writer and the pleasure of the reader. In those instances, nabokov's language is as beautiful as the young girl it describes, and it also asserts its own beauty, by metatextually calling attention to its musical and pictorial qualities. Therefore, the way nabokov works the signifier is not only underscored, but the gap between signifier and signified is further stated, and even exhibited, for it is in that opening that senses and sense can vibrate

Full textScientific literature has got a long tradition in studying juvenile deliquency but little has been done concerning the involvement of girls in delinquency. The researcher aimed to approach feminine deviance and delinquency through an interactionnist perspective considering that behaviour results from a social construction that she tried to deconstruct and set back into a coherent social context contrary to a biological or naturalising approach. The feminist theories point the lack of studies on violence or deliquency perpetrated by young girls. This thesis work set out to investigate this specific social issue, to achieve a better understanding of the phenomenon and of the way of life of school girls (aged 12 to 16) living in urban socially deprived areas (Marseille, Paris, Bordeaux). In that purpose the researcher performed some ethnographical work in the above mentioned areas and did a secondary data analysis of the quantitative data collected for the national survey on school climate and violence lend by Debarbieux (1999). She also led about one hundred interviews with girls. The researcher examined the place and role of girls in the pyramidal organization of delinquency in Paris, their way of life and own perceptions about it. She also observed how they had occupied the urban space as a socialising space that reproduces gender and social inequalities. She also carried out some observation work within the school context trying to assess school climate and how girls grew opposition to schooling. The researcher outlined the juvenile socialization system pupils called the "law of the stronger" which enabled her to analyse the identity building process underlying deviant behaviours. Within this socializing context, some of the girl are offenders but others are victims since not all of them comply with the code of conduct the same way. The "weak" ones are used by the stronger to strengthen their status with their peers. In that purpose, the ones the researcher calls the "cheekies" use traditional "male sex role" as aggressivity, strength demonstrations, macho behaviour, reproducing logics of discrimination and inequality they suffer from others
