Abstract:
A new way of debates has been recently caused by H. Arendt’s famous work Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil discussed the trial of the Nazi criminal A. Eichmann in 1961. The issues raised by the author such as a status of crime against the humanity and the court competence in their considerations, the banality of evil and its direct connection to the inability to make judgments, the conformism of the Jewish leadership and the double role of the Judenrat in the Final Solution to the Jewish Question are widely considered not only among academics, but often illustrated by fic

This article is an extension of the research material published in the previous issue of the Journal “International Analytics” (2016, vol. 3 (17), p. 45–58), and focused on the activity of the Jewish paramilitary groups in Palestine before the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. Originally the conspiratorial Jewish extremist organization opposed the policy of the Jewish immigration restraint which had been carried out by the socialist countries, especially the USSR. Some ultra-Orthodox groups, such as the Union of Zealots, used openly the terrorist methods in the struggle against the

This article studies the influence of religion on political and social processes in Israel. Modern Israel is a complicated multi-ethnic and multi-religious society. Israel is home to over 8 million people and approximately a quarter of its citizens are non-Jews (Muslim Arabs and Christian Arabs, Druze, Bedouins, Circassians and etc.). In spite of the fact that the Israeli system of law provides “the complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex”, many Arabs and other non-Jews citizens of the State are not really integrated into Is

Abstract:
Since the 2000s, a corpus of Cuban diasporic novels has emerged, exploring Jewish immigration to Cuba from two angles: the expulsion of Sephardic Jews after 1492 and the arrival of Ashkenazi Jews during the Shoah. Transcending this experience, these novels intertwine key moments of Jewish and Cuban history while their multidirectional ‘memory making’ is translated into oblique, cross-ethnic family constellations. Mostly written by US-Cuban authors, the texts aspire to redefine the Cuban nation from a post- or transnational angle. Novels like Days of Awe (2001) and Letters from Cuba (2020) serv

From time immemorial, the world’s peoples have been in movement. Groups have been scattered, resulting in communities in regions and parts of the world with which they have no historic connection. In the 21st century, with more access to travel and the relaxing of immigration laws, the movement continues. Increasingly, those leaving their traditional homelands for other destinations are said to be in diaspora. The second chapter analyses analized the (re)discovery of earlier Judaeo-Christian traditions in Muslim eschatology. These newly achieved histories and prophecies were generally called ‘Isra’iliyyat’ (Israelitic stuff), and were looked at with a mix of interest and concern by Muslim scholars. It will be shown that a common pattern of eschatological events was adopted by all three monotheisms, which used and inverted elements proper to the other eschatological traditions, creating a common apocalyptic language. Many of the works canonised as ‘Argentine classics’ have dealt with the multiple representations, from heroic to vile, of that immigrant.
