Jezuitski učitelji, ki so v Ljubljani ustanovili gimnazijo in nekakšno polovično univerzo, so se ukvarjali z antično književnostjo na vrsto načinov. Njihovo delovanje je predstavljeno v šestih razdelkih. V prvem je opisan jezuitski šolski sistem nasploh, medtem ko drugi prikazuje odnos reda do klasikov. Pri tem je posebej izpostavljeno znanstveno delovanje jezuitov na Slovenskem. V tretjem razdelku je podan nadroben pregled (zlasti) latinskega čtiva, predpisanega za pouk v vsakem od šestih gimnazijskih razredov, poleg tega pa tudi opis učnih metod. Jesuit theatre was a pan-European phenomenon in the early modern period, originating from the Jesuits’ educational and pastoral activity. The Jesuits’ drama activity in Ljubljana, Klagenfurt, Gorica and Trieste followed general European trends; it was an intermediate link between theatre performances at Protestant estates school and later performances by visiting German and Italian theatre troupes in Slovenia. V tem prispevku poskušamo prikazati nekaj poglavitnih slogovnih značilnosti kronike jezuitskega kolegija v Ljubljani, s prevajanjem katere se prof. Marija Kiauta ukvarja že nekaj let. Gre za delo z izvirnim naslovom Historia annua Collegii Labacensis (okrajšano kot HACL), ki ima v rokopisu 521 strani in sega od leta 1596 - 1691. Mezi misionáři v Číně hráli nejvýznamnější roli členové Tovaryšstva Ježíšova, jezuité. Po téměř dvě stě let nejenže měli velkou početní převahu mezi misionáři, ale rovněž vyvinuli metodu akomodace pro evangelizaci Číny a hráli významnou roli na císařském dvoře v Pekingu. U čchingských císařů byli oblíbeni pro svou učenost, jelikož byli vzděláni v různých vědách, jako například v matematice, hudbě, kartografii a geografii. Na pobřeží Číny pronikali již od poloviny 16. století, avšak první misie na čínské pevnině vznikly až po roce 1582.

Je třeba hned v úvodu podotknout, že tato práce nemůže vylíčit všechny spory, neboť jejich zpracování by vyžadovalo časově daleko náročnější studium a jistě by vydalo na obsáhlou monografii. Proto jsou zde popsány pouze nejvýznamnější spory, které výrazně zasáhly do chodu města. Jelikož působení jezuitů v Kutné Hoře do dnešní doby postrádá monografické zpracování, bylo třeba zde alespoň nastínit celou historii zdejšího působení řádu.
