Abstract:
Four species of Anastatus Motschulsky (Hymenoptera, Eupelmidae, Eupelminae) are newly reported as egg parasitoids of the Japanese giant silkworm, Caligula japonica Moore and, as an alternate laboratory host, the Chinese oak silk moth, Antheraea pernyi (Guérin-Méneville) (Lepidoptera, Saturniidae) in China. The four species, A. fulloi Sheng & Wang, 1997, A. gansuensis Chen & Zang, sp. nov., A. japonicus Ashmead, 1904, and A. meilingensis Sheng, 1998, were reared initially from eggs of C. japonica collected in Gansu, Jilin and Liaoning provinces and subsequently cultured in the laboratory on eggs of A. pernyi. An illustrated key to differentiate females of the four species, and males of some of the species is provided. Key features are illustrated, both sexes of the new species are described, and diagnoses of females of the other species are given.

Abstract:
DNA barcoding has been used for decades, although it has mostly been applied to some single-species. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which is mainly used in the form of combination-one type of the multi-species, identification is crucial for clinical usage. Next-generation Sequencing (NGS) has been used to address this authentication issue for the past few years, but conventional NGS technology is hampered in application due to its short sequencing reads and systematic errors. Here, a novel method, Full-length multi-barcoding (FLMB) via long-read sequencing, is employed for the identification of biological compositions in herbal compound formulas in adequate and well controlled studies. By directly sequencing the full-length amplicons of ITS2 and psbA-trnH through single-molecule real-time (SMRT) technology, the biological composition of a classical prescription Sheng-Mai-San (SMS) was analyzed. At the same time, clone-dependent Sanger sequencing was carried out as a parallel control. Further, another formula—Sanwei-Jili-San (SJS)—was analyzed with genes of ITS2 and CO1. All the ingredients in the samples of SMS and SJS were successfully authenticated at the species level, and 11 exogenous species were also checked, some of which were considered as common contaminations in these products. Methodology analysis demonstrated that this method was sensitive, accurate and reliable. FLMB, a superior but feasible approach for the identification of biological complex mixture, was established and elucidated, which shows perfect interpretation for DNA barcoding that could lead its application in multi-species mixtures.

Abstract:
Abstract The year of 2020 has been overshadowed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Medical workers throughout China have played critical roles in battling severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and saving lives. The whole of society has now fully realized the significance of medical workers and many began to think about medical education in China: How can we further improve medical education for the next generation of clinicians, medical scientists, nurses, public-health workers and administrators related to medical care, so that they are well prepared to meet societal needs for medical care in the ever-changing world? In this panel discussion, medical-education experts from several prominent medical schools in China gathered to discuss the reform and future development of China's medical education.
