Dennys, Frenez. "Translated symbols. Indus Reminiscences in a Chlorite Artefact of the Halil Rud Civilization." Rivista di Archeologia 38 (October 7, 2015): 7–18. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5555122.

Full text
Abstract:
The paper presents an exceptional artefact of the Halil Rud or Marhashi Civilization, a stone plaque (apparently made of chlorite) carefully carved with figures originally inlaid with semiprecious materials. This sculpture is the result of a unique process of selection and transformation of some specific motifs of the Indus Civilization. The iconography includes a standing female zebu attacked on the hump by a beast of prey, while its calf suckles from below. In front of the animals stands a large pedestalled cup. The general scene, including the female zebu and the pedestalled cup, is a literal citation of the basic compositional model of the famous unicorn represented along with the so-called ritual filter on the steatite stamp seals of the Indus Civilization. On the other hand, it shows an impressive series of inversions respect to the Indus prototype, possibly due to the ‘translation’ of the original system of values by the means of local symbols.

Abstract:
Introduction: Blood-borne infections have always been concerns for the health system, as well as patients receiving blood products. In the present study, our aim was to determine the prevalence of hepatitis B (HBV) and C (HCV) virus infections in the blood units donated in Jiroft city, Kerman province, Iran, during a 5-year period (2011-2016). We also analyzed the demographic characteristics of donors. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. Records available in the blood center of Jiroft was used as the source for collecting the data required (i.e., demographic features, results of laboratory tests, etc.). SPSS software version 22 was used to analyze the data using descriptive statistics (frequency and percentage). The chi-square test was used to identify any association between categorical variables at a significant level of P < 0.05.Results: The total number of blood donors was 36 117. Hepatitis B and C frequencies were 3.3 and 0.44 per 1000, respectively. The highest infection rates were observed in 21-30-year-old donors. The prevalence of hepatitis B and C were higher among first-time, married, and male donors. Hepatitis B and C frequencies indicated a decreasing trend, reaching 2 and 0.4 per 1000 in 2016 from the initial 5.2 and 0.55 per 1000 in 2011, respectively. The results of the Chi-square statistical test showed that the difference in the number of people who had hepatitis in the period of 2011-2016 had a statistically significant decreasing trend (P < 0.001).Conclusion: The prevalence of hepatitis B and C infections in blood donors declined from 2011 to 2016. It is recommended to continue screening tests and educate donors to even lower blood-borne viral infections among Jiroft blood donors.

Rastegari, Faramarz, Enayatollah Tohidinejad, and Ghasem Mohammadi-Nejad. "Effect of drought stress on indigo and seed yield of Indigofera tinctoria ecotypes." Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences 90, no. 6 (2020): 1063–67. http://dx.doi.org/10.56093/ijas.v90i6.104755.

Abstract:
The objective of the the current study was to elucidate the effect of drought stress on indigo yield and to derive certain morphological traits of indigo ecotypes. This experiment was laid out in a split-plot arranged at a randomized complete block design, with three replications in the Jiroft Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Education Center, Kerman, Iran, during 2013-14 growing seasons. The main plot and the subplot included drought stress (100, 75, and 50% of crop water requirement) and indigo ecotypes (Jiroft, Roudbar, Rigan, and Ghale Ganj), respectively. The obtained results showed that morphological and indigo content attributes revealed significant differences between the control and the drought-stress plants. Increasing water stress (up to 50% of crop water requirement) resulted in a severe loss of leaf dry mass, plant height, and seed yield of 25, 25 and 58%, respectively, in comparison to the control condition; the highest indigo yield and content obtained from the mid-stress level. Moreover, interaction effects of drought and ecotypes on leaf dry mass, seed, and indigo yield were significant; thus, the LDM and seed yield was the greatest in the Jiroft ecotype in the control, the indigo yield was the greatest under mid-level stress, and it was the lowest in the Ghale Ganj ecotype under severe water-stress level. Therefore, the results of this research suggest that the Jiroft ecotype will perform well with respect to drought tolerance and will be useful for cultivation in the semi-arid regions of Jiroft.

Seamless Mobility (SM) is crucial for bringing about better Quality of Service (QoS) like minimum handover latency with maximum throughput in 5G networks. In this work a method called, Jenkin Impulse Response Filtering and Reinforcement Learning-based Gibbs Haversine Distribution (JIRF-RLGHD) for optimal selection of target cells for the handover process to ensure seamless mobility is designed. The JIRF-RLGHD method is split into two sections. They are predicting the signal quality of both serving and adjacent wireless nodes using the Box Jenkin Impulse Response Filtering model. The second task remains in applying Reinforcement Learning-based Gibbs Haversine Distribution for optimal selection of target cells for handover to ensure seamless mobility in a wireless network. The overall proposed method was simulated on a Python programming interface language. The simulation results reveal that the JIRF-RLGHD method offers a greater delivery rate, and handover success with lesser handover latency at minimal packet loss rate. Numerical results show that the JIRF-RLGHD method performs better in terms of data delivery rate by 18%, and handover latency by 33% compared to existing methods.

Abstract:
Berberis integerrima L. belongs to the Berberidaceae family and is one of the small fruits with many medicinal properties, which is considered among the horticultural products with high plant diversity and favorable genetic reserves. This research aimed to study barberry's phenological, morpho-physiological, and biochemical attributes in five different habitats in Kerman province, Iran (Bam, Jiroft, Anbarabad, Raber, and Baft) during 2019-2020. The results of the phenological traits showed that the Jiroft and Anbarabad habitats have the maximum number of days until the end of vegetative growth, the number of days from activation of buds to the beginning of fruit formation, the number of days until the physiological maturity of the fruit, the number of days from activation of buds to fruit coloring, and the lowest number of days until flowering. The mean comparison showed that in terms of yield, the investigated habitats from the highest production to the lowest included Anbarabad> Baft> Bam> Rabar> Jiroft. The highest average traits of panicle length (43.38 cm), number of fruits per panicle (26.6), 1000-fruit weight (141.9 g), 1000-seedless fruit weight (128.4 g), seed length (1.16 mm), seed diameter (0.97 mm), fruit length and diameter (19.03 and 5.41 mm), yield (16.69 kg per stem), and the number of thorns 10 cm (13.5 pieces) was observed in Anbarabad habitat. The yield was negatively and significantly correlated with fruit length, titratable acidity, anthocyanin, DPPH, and phenol. Interestingly, soil nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium had a positive effect on increasing the barberry yield. On the other hand, increasing the longitude, latitude, and altitude decreases yield. Anbarabad and Jiroft habitats had the highest and lowest averages of pH, titratable acidity, total soluble solids, chlorophyll, and carotenoid content, respectively. Generally, the results of this study indicate a high genetic diversity in phenological, morphological, chemical, and physiological aspects in different habitats. Moreover, the results showed that Anbarabad was significantly superior in phenological, morphological, yield, and phytochemical traits compared to other ecotypes.

Abstract:
Interspecific hybrids between Diospyros glandulosa (2n = 2x = 30) and D. kaki cv. Jiro (2n = 6x = 90) were produced by electrofusion of protoplasts. Protoplasts were isolated from calli derived from leaf primordia, fused electrically, and cultured by agarose-bead culture using modified KM8p medium. Relative nuclear DNA contents of calli derived from fusion-treated protoplasts were determined by flow cytometry. One-hundred-forty-nine of 166 calli obtained had the nuclear DNA content of the sum of those of D. glandulosa and D. kaki cv. Jiro. RAPD analysis showed that the 149 callus lines yielded specific bands for both D. glandulosa and D. kaki cv. Jiro and they appeared to be interspecific somatic hybrid calli. Shoots were regenerated from 63 of the 149 interspecific hybrid calli. PCR-RFLP of chloroplast DNA analysis, flow cytometric determination of nuclear DNA content, and RAPD analysis revealed that the 63 interspecific hybrid shoot lines contained nuclear genome from both the parents but only chloroplast genome from D. glandulosa. Microscopic observation of root tip cells confirmed that somatic chromosome numbers of the interspecific hybrids were 2n = 8x = 120.

The main purpose of this study is to find and disseminate a business option that can benefit and help reduce poverty rates in Guayaquil, in this case we have considered the recipients of the Human Development Bonus (BDH) and who access the Human Development Credit (CDH), with the aim of integrating them into the labor force in Ecuador. In this sense, the lack of knowledge about the sicana or jiron fruit in the Costa-Manabi region has limited its use; therefore, the aim is to promote the sale of this natural product in Guayaquil to improve health and generate income in vulnerable communities. The methodology employed includes descriptive, explanatory, analytical and qualitative research, as well as a market study focused on the production and sale of artisanal ice cream. The proposal consists of the production of handmade jiron ice cream for the beneficiaries of the CDH in Guayaquil.

Abstract:
The research looked at David Gelb’s 2011 documentary, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, from the shokunin concept’s perspective. Referring to Hall’s circuit of culture, the research focused on two interrelated links within cultural studies: production and consumption. Production and consumption referred to the sushi culture. Shokunin was defined as mastery of one’s profession or artisans. The film reflected this concept through the character, Jiro Ono, who dedicated his life to excelling in making sushi. The method applied in the research was qualitative. The data were drawn from the film’s cinematography which referred to the camerawork, and mise-en-scène, which referred to everything on the film frame, as part of the film studies method applied. The findings show that in terms of production and consumption of sushi within the circuit of culture, the film has shown the interrelated meaning of sushi culture: that in the context of Jiro Ono’s sushi, sushi becomes more than just food, but through its complex production and consumption process, sushi culture becomes a representation of ancient Japanese concept, shokunin, which emphasizes on discipline, perfection, beauty and of course, hard work, and sacrifice. These findings are supported by visualizing the production and consumption through the film’s cinematography and mise-en-scène.

Abstract:
Abstract Agriculture and its development are the foundations of development in Iran as a developing country. So, this sector can be regarded as the foundation of economic and social development. The capabilities of the agriculture sector are limited, and its efficiency is trivial because of neglecting agricultural development and depriving this sector of real functional supports instead of slogans. The transformation of agriculture to a developed, dynamic, and efficient environment depends not only on appropriate climate and natural resources but also on human resource development in the relevant sector. Hence, in the present study, the causes of the underdevelopment of mechanization in rural areas of Jiroft which has a significant contribution to agricultural production in the area are investigated. Library and field methods have been used to collect information. The statistical population includes 1,324 farmers in Jiroft villages. According to Cochran’s formula, in order to complete the questionnaires, the required quantity as the sample was about 300 farmers. To determine the validity of the content, the experts used Cronbach’s alpha (0.81) to verify the reliability of the instrument. In the present study, the collected data were analyzed by statistical package of Social Sciences 22 and LISREL9 using Pearson correlation through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The results of exploratory factor analysis showed that five factors, Supportive – research oriented and promotional, market and product, technical and technological, and cultural-social, respectively, were 19.9, 18.6, 14.5, 10.4, and 7.3 percent of the variance. Creating a national document in the field of sustainable development in agriculture, codification of supportive policies, and required laws for this sector are very impressive to improve the process of agricultural mechanization development in Jiroft.

Abstract:
The type of pollen of date palm trees could affect the chemical characteristics of the fruit, and determine the quality and quantitative aspects. Careful selection of proper pollen for pollination of date palm is very important. This research was conducted for the selection of the best pollinizers and to study the effects of five varieties of male trees from the Shahdad area on the chemical characteristics of `Jiroft Mazafati' date. A completely random block was used for analysis of the 2 years of data (1991–1993). The study sight was in the Jiroft area of Kerman Province, Iran. Samples of fruit were collected after the pollination process and the required information recorded. Total dry matter, fruit moisture, total sugar content, fruit ash, and fruit pH were measured. Statistical calculations analysis and compound variations and evaluations of the treatments by Duncan's test indicate that, statistically, the different treatments have no effect on the fruit pH, and the difference are not significant. There are statistically significant effects on the other chemical characteristics of the fruit.

Abstract:
This article is devoted to the origin of the eagle and double-headed eagle symbols in the cultures of the ancient world. In addition to the etymological digression, we consider the course of evolution of the double-headed eagle as an international symbol. The study is descriptive and is based on scientific materials on the Jiroft civilization in Kerman (Iran), published since 2003. The innovation of this study lies in the identification of new facts about the beginning of the use of the symbolic image of the eagle in the culture of the Ancient World. The scarcity of sources on the language and culture of the Jiroft civilization, including the lack of translations of new materials about it in Russian, became the main motivation for this article. Our goal is to correct previous information and conclusions of archaeological knowledge based on new materials regarding the double-headed eagle symbol and its appearance as an image on the flag. The importance of this study is to clarify the source of this international symbol and specify its mythological concepts in the history of mankind.

Abstract:
This paper deals with the newly developed 'O-jiro (Onelegged ,jigging robot)' which realizes stilts-walking. The impact of stepping by two legs disturbs the balance of the body, so this robot has a vertical arc-shaped plate for its leg. A single motor swings the leg cyclically, so the supporting point moves from side to side like steps of stilts-walking. At the same time, another motor drives a rotor mounted on the top of the body to turn the lifted leg toward the direction in which the body leans (forward or backward), so the O jiro can remain stable. He can thus realize stable stilts-walking, with a simple mechanism and only two actuators. As a results of experiments, it has been confirmed that he can remain stable standing and that this mechanism is useful as a locomotive robot.

Abstract:
Growing trends in urban development combined with fundamental changes in the physical context of cities necessitate paying attention to the quality of urban spaces. The low quality of spaces, known as defenseless spaces, has a significant impact on the security of citizens, particularly vulnerable groups, including women. By emphasizing the role of defenseless spaces in Jiroft, the present study aims to evaluate their effect on women?s security. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using an independent t-test. Kendall correlation and regression were also applied in order to determine the quality of urban spaces and to evaluate their relationship with women?s safety. The results show that the physical spaces in Jiroft, more than 30% of which are worn out, are of low quality, and thus can be referred to as defenseless. The level of women?s satisfaction with the quality of the space is not high enough and this situation has increased women?s insecurity by 41%. Therefore, reconsidering urban design, especially in the peripheral and suburban areas is necessary, owing to women?s dissatisfaction with the quality of urban spaces and the positive correlation of these spaces with the level of security.
