Abstract:
In this thesis, we consider the pressureless Euler equations with a congestion constraint. This system still raises many open questions and aside from its one-dimensional version, very little is known. The strategy that we propose relies on previous works of crowd motion models withcongestion in the framework of the Wasserstein space, and on a microscopic granularmodel with inelastic collisions. It consists of the study of a time-splitting scheme. The first step is about the projection of the current velocity field on a set, avoiding the factthat trajectories do not cross during the time step. Then the scheme moves the density with the new velocity field. This intermediate density may violate the congestion constraint. The third step projects it on the set of admissible densities. Finally, the velocity field is updated taking into account the positions of physical particles during the scheme. In the one-dimensional case, solutions computed by the algorithm matchwith the ones that we know for these equations. In the two-dimensional case, computed solutions respect some properties that can be expected to be verified by the solutions to these equations. In addition, we notice some similarities between solutions computed by the scheme and the ones of the granular model with inelastic collisions. Later, this scheme is discretized with respect to the space variable in the purpose of numerical computations of solutions. The resulting algorithm uses a new method to discretize the Wasserstein cost. This method, called Transverse Sweeping Method consists in expressing the cost using the mass flow from any cell and crossing hyperplanes defined by interfaces between cells

Abstract:
Since 1998 and the seminal work of Jordan, Kinderlehrer and Otto, it is well known that a large class of parabolic equations can be seen as gradient flows in the Wasserstein space. This thesis is devoted to extensions of this theory to equations and systems which do not have exactly a gradient flow structure. We study different kind of couplings. First, we treat the case of nonlocal interactions in the drift. Then, we study cross diffusion systems which model congestion for several species. We are also interested in reaction-diffusion systems as diffusive prey-predator systems or tumor growth models. Finally, we introduce a new class of systems where the interaction is given by a multi-marginal transport problem. In many cases, we give numerical simulations to illustrate our theorical results

Considering the adoption rate of mobile payment users in Taiwan was as low as 24.4% in 2016, whereas 73% of population in Taiwan uses mobile phones, this research paper aims to provide recommendations to increase the market penetration of mobile payment services. Instead of giving general advice for the mobile payment industry in Taiwan, this research focuses on one of the most active mobile payment services nowadays in Taiwan – JKOS Pay (街口支付). The value proposition model and business model, created by Alex Osterwalder, were adopted to analyze the service that JKOS Pay provides. In order to have a deeper understanding on how potential users and existing users think of mobile payment services in Taiwan and JKOS Pay, interviews were conducted for 5 consumers and 3 merchants. Furthermore, an interview with Mr. Kevin Hu, the founder/CEO of JKOS Pay was also arranged to obtain a point of view from a real stakeholder in this industry. Following the interviews, this thesis proposes four recommendations in order to close the perceived gap between application features and consumer expectations. Regardless of which side of the platform JKOS is trying to capture, it is essential that JKOS convey the additional marketing and discount benefits that target merchants and customers are seeking, rather than simply rely on the strength of its core payment service to attract and retain customers.

With the innovation and transformation of information technology, the popularization of mobile devices has gradually changed the consumption behavior. Businesses and stores have also used the features and advantages of mobile devices to integrate and provide various payment methods, that bringing different mobile experiences and services to consumers. O2O (Online to Offline) Platform, is an emerging shopping model that guides online consumers to physical stores through preferential activities launched by the O2O platform and completes transactions using mobile payment methods. Jkos payment, one of the domestic online-offline integration of the platform, provide offline transaction-based service model via QR code payment. Consumer acceptance of this platform features and services is a topic worth exploring. The purpose of this study is using the UTAUT to explain mobile payment behavioral intentions. In this study, quantitative research was conducted to investigate through questionnaires, and 357 valid questionnaires were collected by consumers who known Jkos payment. Using SPSS statistical software as analysis tools, reliability analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, independent sample t test, One-way ANOVA, correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted to verify the research hypothesis. The results show that in different demographic variables, consumers' perceptions of Jkos payment have some differences in terms of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social Influence, facilitating conditions, perceived risk, perceived trust, and use intention. Moreover, consumers' perceptions of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social Influence, and perceived trust positively affect their willingness to use; and in the moderators, the gender and experience for each facet have different effects on results.

With the advance of mobile technology, people try to put physical credit cards or wallets into the mobile device. And many of the transactions are converted to mobile payment. In recent years, more and more kinds of mobile payment industries show up and integrate different medium of exchanges and stores in their service. Although there are many mobile payment service can choose in Taiwan, Taiwanese mobile payment using intention is still not high. The MIC Scholar’s report(2017) found that people use mobile payment about 4.8% in 2016.Most of people are use physical card(77.1%) and cash(60.1%)when they was paid in Taiwan. So in this study, we want to explore consumers’ using intention for mobile payment in comvenience store with Technology Acceptance Model and Innovation Resistance theory. This study will receive Apple pay and JKOS pay two kinds of samples. To determine whether intention to use will be affect by perceived usefulness or perceived ease of use, and put value barrier, risk barrier, traditional barrier and image barrier as moderator to compare in different situation. According to the results, risk barrier has the moderating effect in JKOS pay sample. It will decline the consumers to use the JKOS pay.Although value barrier, traditional barrier and image barrier have not the moderating effect in Apple pay and JKOS pay samples, they have direct nagative effect on consumers’ usig intention. To rank those barrier,in Apple pay sample, traditional barrier’s effect is the biggest, second is image barrier and third is value barrier. In JKOS pay sample, traditional barrier’s effect is the biggest, and second is value barrier. Thus the mobile payment industries can make some strategy to increase the consumers to use their mobile payment from this study.

Al, Hussien Bima. "Impact of fossil-fuel subsidy removal to the Indonesia stock market." Master's thesis, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/10071/12774.

Full text
Abstract:
In 2015, government of Indonesia introduced new policy which remove the fossil fuel subsidy applying since the freedom of Indonesia. The Premium gasoline is now unsubsidized, and the Solar diesel is remove. Some previous studies found that there is positively relationship of oil price change to the stock market. However, as the literatures we have, there has not been study regarding to the effect of fossil-fuel price change caused by subsidy removal. Therefore, this new policy attracts us to find whether there is impact of new subsidy policy applied to Indonesia Stock Market, represented by using the data of Jakarta Composite Index (JKSE), since the fossil-fuel price changes dramatically Because there is heteroskedasticity in the residual error in the natural regression model that we compute, we consider the GARCH model in order to deal with the problem. Besides, we also proceed the GJR and EGARCH to explain the asymmetry effect. We conclude that the subsidy removal do affect the Jakarta Composite Index (JKSE), yet the oil price return do not. Additionally, the subsidy removal (bad news for market participants) give more negative shock to conditional variance than subsidy existence (positive news). Then, taking into account the model selection using Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) and Schwarz’s Bayesian Criterion (SBC), we found that, in this study, the GJR can explain better than GARCH and EGARCH.

Globalization has driven the economy of countries to relate to each other. It brings relationships in the capital among countries in the world, especially in ASEAN region countries. This study aimed to analyze the integration of the stock market among countries in the ASEAN region. The stock market was analyzed are the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Malaysia Stock Exchange, Singapore Stock Exchange, Thailand Stock Exchange, Vietnam Stock Exchange, and Philippine Stock Exchange. This study using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) as the method. The result of this study shows that, in the long term Singapore Stock Index (STI), Malaysia Stock Index (KLSE), Philippines (PSEi), and Indonesia Stock Index (JKSE) are positively correlated. This means the change of stock index price in one country will affect other related countries in the long term. In the short term of VECM estimation, found the Vietnam Stock Index (VNI), Singapore Stock Exchange (STI), Philippine (PSEi) are positively correlated and negatively correlated with Thailand Stock Exchange (SET). For the managerial implication, the result of this study is expected as a reference or basis of consideration of investment decisions. This because long-term stock market movements are important because they impact international portfolio management and risk diversification.

In ASME 2014 33rd International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2014. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/omae2014-24492.

Abstract:
Epistemic uncertainties of wave power estimation based on spectral wave model were assessed utilizing the community wave model WW3 of NOAA. A four tiered nested model was constructed covering the Pacific Ocean, the sea around Japan, the North-Eastern Japan and Kamaishi regional model at 100km, 10km, 1km and 100m resolutions respectively. The sensitivity of the model output to four wind products (NCEP-GFS, NCEP-CFSR, GSM/JMA, ERA-interim/ECWMF) was tested; the wave model outputs as well as wind products were validated against observations of NDBC buoys, JKEO/JAMSTEC buoy, TAO array and NOWPHAS buoy along the north-eastern Japan. The differences of the estimations using four wind products were relatively small whereas model errors were spatially inhomogeneous. The dependence on grid-resolution was relatively small at depth 100m or so. On the other hand, the modeled significant wave period had a large bias from the observation because of the inconsistency in the spectral moment used to estimate the significant wave period. The energy period (T-1,0) was 5% larger than the period from WW3 (T-0.5,0) and 20% larger than the period from NDBC (T0,2). The difference of wave period, dependent on the spectral shape and location, are often overlooked despite their significant impact on the resource estimate.
