Abstract:
Forensic studies have almost entirely neglected research on adolescent offenders and their abilities to engage in malingering and other forms of deception. The present research represents the first empirical investigation into feigned Miranda-specific impairment by legally involved juveniles. Feigners ( n = 62) were compared with archival data ( n = 245) under genuine conditions. With virtually no preparation, juveniles effectively feigned major impairment on the Miranda Rights Comprehension Instruments (MRCI) and most aggregate scores of the Juvenile Miranda Quiz (JMQ). Based on established detection strategies, feigning scales were examined for both the MRCI and JMQ. Consistent with adult detainee research, the JMQ floor effect (JMQ FE) yielded good sensitivities and very high specificities. Low scale scores on the MRCI Comprehension of Miranda Rights–Recognition-II (CMR-R-II) evidenced strong promise at identifying potential feigners for more extensive evaluations. As discussed, forensic evaluators cannot afford to ignore feigned legal incapacities when examining pre-adjudicated adolescents.

Abstract:
The demand of sweet corn in Indonesia has been increasing; therefore breeding efforts are aimed for high yielding sweet corn varieties with superior quality. This research was aimed to evaluate the yield of five newly developed sweet corn hybrids compared to the commercial varieties. The research was conducted at the Leuwikopo experimental field of IPB, and Laboratory of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, IPB Darmaga campus from September to December 2015. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized block design with three replications. Five new sweet corn hybrids, “ JM8 x JM2”, “JM8 x JM7”, “JM16 x JM8”, “JM17 x JM6” and “JM17 x JM7”, and four commercial varieties, “Bonanza”, “Master Sweet”, “Sugar 75” and “Sweet Boy”, were tested. The results showed that the new hybrids vary in plant height, days to anthesis, days to silking, ear height, ear length, sugar content, number of kernel rows, the weight of husked ear, and number of ears per plant, downy mildew infected area, and productivity. F1 of “JM8 x JM2” has longer ears than “Master Sweet” and “Sugar 75”, higher sugar content than “Sugar 75”, and higher resistance against downy mildew than “Master Sweet” and “Sweet Boy”.

Abstract:
We tested efficient in vitro methods for screening the genotypes with higher pH tolerance using multiple shoots of intersectional hybrids between Vaccinium corymbosum ‘Spartan’ and V. bracteatum. The response of the four hybrid clones tested to different pH levels was clone-dependent in vitro. An apparent difference was found in the rooting rate among the hybrid clones even at higher pH levels; the rooting rates of JM4 (91%) at pH 8.0 indicated a significantly high value compared with other clones (JM1: 24%, JM2: 9%, JM3: 8%, ‘Spartan’: 0%). Furthermore, JM4 showed constantly high rooting rates (91% to 100%) at all pH levels with no significant differences. Similar differences in the root characters of the hybrids were also confirmed by checking the viability of roots using fluorescein diacetate (FDA)/propidium iodide (PI) staining after dipping the roots of in vitro-produced shoots in liquid medium at different pH levels for 6 hours. These results suggest that an in vitro screening method using the rooting rate of multiple shoots and the viability test of roots by FDA/PI staining as a marker could become a very useful tool for the selection of germplasm with tolerance to higher pH within a short time using small planting spaces. In addition, JM4, which showed a high rooting rate at pH 8.0, could be useful in breeding new cultivars with higher pH tolerance.

"The Glycosylphosphatidylinositol-Anchored Variable Region of Llama Heavy Chain-Only Antibody JM4 Efficiently Blocks both Cell-Free and T Cell-T Cell Transmission of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1." Journal of Virology 90, no. 23 (September 21, 2016): 10642–59. http://dx.doi.org/10.1128/jvi.01559-16.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThe variable regions (VHHs) of two heavy chain-only antibodies, JM2 and JM4, from llamas that have been immunized with a trimeric gp140 bound to a CD4 mimic have been recently isolated (here referred to as VHH JM2 and VHH JM4, respectively). JM2 binds the CD4-binding site of gp120 and neutralizes HIV-1 strains from subtypes B, C, and G. JM4 binds gp120 and neutralizes HIV-1 strains from subtypes A, B, C, A/E, and G in a CD4-dependent manner. In the present study, we constructed glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored VHH JM2 and JM4 along with an E4 control and transduced them into human CD4+cell lines and primary CD4 T cells. We report that by genetically linking the VHHs with a GPI attachment signal, VHHs are targeted to the lipid rafts of the plasma membranes. Expression of GPI-VHH JM4, but not GPI-VHH E4 and JM2, on the surface of transduced TZM.bl cells potently neutralizes multiple subtypes of HIV-1 isolates, including tier 2 or 3 strains, transmitted founders, quasispecies, and soluble single domain antibody (sdAb) JM4-resistant viruses. Moreover, transduction of CEMss-CCR5 cells with GPI-VHH JM4, but not with GPI-VHH E4, confers resistance to both cell-free and T cell-T cell transmission of HIV-1 and HIV-1 envelope-mediated fusion. Finally, GPI-VHH JM4-transduced human primary CD4 T cells efficiently resist both cell-free and T cell-T cell transmission of HIV-1. Thus, we conclude that VHH JM4, when targeted to the lipid rafts of the plasma membrane, efficiently neutralizes HIV-1 infection via both cell-free and T cell-T cell transmission. Our findings should have important implications for GPI-anchored antibody-based therapy against HIV-1.IMPORTANCELipid rafts are specialized dynamic microdomains of the plasma membrane and have been shown to be gateways for HIV-1 budding as well as entry into T cells and macrophages. In nature, many glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored proteins localize in the lipid rafts. In the present study, we developed GPI-anchored variable regions (VHHs) of two heavy chain-only antibodies, JM2 and JM4, from immunized llamas. We show that by genetically linking the VHHs with a GPI attachment signal, VHHs are targeted to the lipid rafts of the plasma membranes. GPI-VHH JM4, but not GPI-VHH JM2, in transduced CD4+cell lines and human primary CD4 T cells not only efficiently blocks diverse HIV-1 strains, including tier 2 or 3 strains, transmitted founders, quasispecies, and soluble sdAb JM4-resistant strains, but also efficiently interferes T cell-T cell transmissions of HIV-1 and HIV-1 envelope-mediated fusion. Our findings should have important implications in GPI-anchored antibody-based therapy against HIV-1.

Abstract:
The objective of this thesis is to research how to use JavaScript to communicate with a legacy JMS broker, specifically OpenMQ 4.1 and implementing a proof- of-concept of this. This proof-of-concept should be able to send and receive JMS messages. The necessary preparations for designing this application was to research possible ways of communicating with different JMS brokers using oth- er languages than Java. This research showed that the only viable method in or- der to communicate with this version of OpenMQ is to create a Java bridge be- tween JavaScript and the JMS broker. The results shows that it's possible to use JavaScript to communicate with OpenMQ 4.1 by using a Java Bridge together with NodeJS. This result is performed by making an integration test, by first sending a message with a certain ID to the API and then receiving a response at the intended response destination with the same ID. The front-end of the proof- of-concept provides a web application UI for performing this integration test. Future improvements of this implementation can be done by extending the Java Bridge and API in such a way that it can be used against many different JMS brokers. The configuration data used can also be stored in more reliable ways, if multiple users are using the API and web application at the same time, for example by using a database instead of JSON files.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This thesis deals with messaging and integration of third-party JMS providers into JBoss application server. The aim of the thesis was to design and implement a general-purpose testsuite to verify the proposed integration. First requirement was to get familiar with key technologies for integration including Java Message Service, Java EE Connector Architecture, selected JMS providers and JBoss AS. Specific procedures of integration were designed and described for JMS providers Apache ActiveMQ, IBM WebSphere MQ and Red Hat MRG Messaging. The testsuite implemented to verify the functionlity of the integration focuses on four areas - transactions, clustering, high availibility and performance. The process of testing was automated using continuous integration tool Jenkins. Finally the test application was used to evaluate functionality of the integration and compare different JMS providers and various versions of JBoss AS.

Abstract:
Music streaming services offer a large quantity of music. Apart from users being able to create their own playlists, these services also offer personal music recommendations. Even though these recommendations meet the users preferences, they don't always fit the users current situation. In this study, we present an artifact in the shape of a context-aware music recommender application, that uses Spotify services to recommend and handle playback of music. A context-aware music application is an application that takes a users current context in consideration when recommending music. In this study, context-aware refers to the situation a given user might find themselves in, e.g. "jogging in the park at 3pm". We present a questionnaire about which contextual factors users think are important, and questions about listening preferences. The artifact is tested in a user study, and the results are analysed and discussed in relation to previous studies. We found that users have a positive attitude towards contextual factors influencing which music they listen to, and that there is a positive attitude towards contextual music recommenders. Furthermore we found that activity is the most relevant contextuall factor to users.

Abstract:
Nowadays, verification of programs is gaining increased importance. The software industry appears more and more interested in methods and tools to ensure security in their applications. Java Modeling Language has been successfully used in the past by programmers to express their intentions in the Design by Contract fashion in sequential programming. One of the design goals of JML was to improve the functional software correctness of Java applications. Regarding the verification of security properties, JML was mostly successful in Java Smart Card applets due to the specifics of these applications. In this thesis work we investigate the feasibility of JML to express high-level security properties in Java applications that have more realistic requirements and are implemented in the object oriented technology. We do a threat analysis of a case study regarding a medical clinic and derive the required security properties to secure the application. We develop a prototype application where we specify high-level security properties with JML and use a runtime assertion checking tool to verify the code. We model the functional behavior of the prototype that establishes the security proper-ties as a finite state automaton. Our prototype is developed based on this automaton. States and state transitions modeled in the automaton are expressed in the prototype with JML annotations and verified during runtime. We observe that currently available features in JML are not very feasible to capture the security related behavior of Java programs on the level of the entire application.

Núñez, Chipana Jesús Teodoro, Camacho Milagros Giuliana Gamarra, and Reyes Orlando José Valencia. "Diseño de una PMO para la constructora JMO." Master's thesis, Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), 2021. http://hdl.handle.net/10757/657020.

Full text
Abstract:
The present research work aims to design a PMO for the construction company JMO, in order to resume its economic growth, through the optimization of its construction projects. This fall in economic goals is occurring due to the poor management of its projects, which have generated cost overruns in its execution and has brought to light the lack of experience in this field of its technical professionals. To achieve this objective, it has been decided to use the PMO Value Ring methodology due to its ease of adaptation to any business model. It should be noted that this methodology defines the PMO as a service provider entity that centralizes all functions related to project management, in order to meet the needs and expectations of its customers in order to generate value. The design of the PMO will be established through a project using the Project Canvas tool to visually present the elements to be taken into account following the guidelines of the PMBOK® Sixth Edition Guide for project management. A work plan for Organizational Change Management will be proposed based on the ACMP® Standard for Change Management and the PMI® Managing Change in Organizations: A practice guide, in order to avoid conflicts with staff in the face of the uncertainty that this may generate and that further affects the performance of the company. At the end of the project, JMO will have a PMO ready to start operations.

Abstract:
This descriptive case study provides a broad overview of JMU X-Labs, an academic maker space (in other words, a teaching lab with fabrication and digital production technologies) that hosts team-taught, project-driven multidisciplinary courses. The JMU X-Labs serves the students and faculty of James Madison University[MSR-m1] , a mid-sized, public, and undergraduate-focused university in the United States. The narrative proceeds from two different but overlapping points of view: how courses at JMU X-Labs are designed and taught; and how administration of JMU X-Labs supports them. The authors refer to specific courses, pedagogical methods, and problem-solving strategies to illustrate the narrative, and they argue throughout that pedagogy and administration are indelibly intertwined in how the organization operates. Gesturing to the broad applicability and transferability of the JMU X-Labs model, the authors mark some of areas of further research that would benefit a more robust understanding of how the organization operates and grows. Finally, the authors speculate how the dynamics of this young and growing organization may answer some core and difficult questions pertaining to innovation in higher education.[MSR-m1]James Madison University (JMU) Clearlyl referenced in abstract and opening paragraph below to explain institutional context as per reviewer request.
