Abstract:
The major aim of the present study is to find connections between global-mindedness and some important factors such as gender and level of proficiency. To this end, 182 language learners, 92 females and 90 males, participated in the study. These students were selected and categorized based on one-stage cluster sampling from 16 branches of different language centers, namely Safiran, Shoukoh, and Kish. The main phase of the study was conducted through the use of Google Docs platform that provides the researchers with the well-organized data. Language learners were asked to answer all the demographic information by considering their anonymity during the process of data collection. The result of the study, through t-test, showed that there was a significant difference between male and female language learners regarding their level of global-mindedness. Abstract:
ER Del = BD+8:4506 is a faint (m ≈ 10) irregularly variable PRG star classified spectral type S5.5/2.5 (Ake 1979). Spectra show H alpha in emission and a strong UV continuum with emission lines of C IV, Si III], and C III] — characteristic of symbiotic-like stars. Although a few other MS and S stars have hot companions, this is the first to show hydrogen emission lines in the optical region. It has been suggested (Smith & Lambert 1986; Little et al. 1987) that all Tc-deficient PRG stars are accidental; that is, they arose by mass transfer when the currently degenerate companion was itself an AGB star. Indeed, the Tc-deficient S stars HR 1105 (Ake, Johnson and Peery 1988) and HD 35155 (Ake and Johnson 1988) and the R8 star HD 59643 (Johnson et al. 1988) not only have hot, subluminous companions, but also are interacting systems - a sign the components are close enough for mass transfer to have occurred. An accretion disk is probably present.

Abstract:
The present article involves a qualitative study of the framing of dementia in ‘Alzheimer’s and Dementia’, the Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association, published in 2016. The aim of this study is to elucidate how dementia is framed qualitatively in the corpus consisting of scientific articles involving dementia published in ‘Alzheimer’s and Dementia’. The results of the qualitative analysis indicate that dementia is represented in ‘Alzheimer’s and Dementia’ in 2016 as the frames associated with gender, age, costs, caregiver and care-recipients, disability and death, health policy, spatial orientation, medical condition, and ethnic groups. Callitris Vent. is the most speciose of the Southern Hemisphere genera of Cupressaceae, occupying a diverse range of habitats within Australia and New Caledonia and is closely allied to Actinostrobus Miq. and the monotypic New Caledonian genus Neocallitropsis Florin. Results of phylogenetic analyses of 18S–26S rDNA internal transcribed spacer region sequences for representatives of 12 of the 18 currently recognised species of Callitris, two of the three Actinostrobus species and the single known species of Neocallitropsis help to clarify major lineages and relationships in this group. ITS data provide strong evidence against the monophyly of Callitris as currently circumscribed, with the strongest evidence being for the inclusion of the New Caledonian monotypic species Neocallitropsis pancheri (Carriere) de Laubenfels. This species shares a close relationship with C. sulcata (Parl.) Schltr. Three representatives of Actinostrobus are monophyletic and are placed in a polytomy with C.�drummondii (Parl.) F.Muell., although indels provide some support for the early divergence of Actinostrobus in this group. Remaining sampled members of Callitris form a weakly supported clade, with C. macleayana (F.Muell.) F.Muell. sister to a highly robust core Callitris. Relationships within this core Callitris are unresolved; however, the following seven lineages are supported: C. rhomboidea R.Br. ex Rich.; C. muelleri (Parl.) F.Muell., C. oblonga Rich. and C. endlicheri (Parl.) F.M. Bailey; C. gracilis R.T. Baker, C. glaucophylla Thompson & Johnson and C.�tuberculata R.Br. ex R.T. Baker & Smith; C. intratropica Baker & Smith; and C. columellaris F.Muell. There has been a marked increase in the rate of divergence of ITS sequences during the evolution of those populations assigned to C. intratropica, which perhaps reflects speciation processes within this widely distributed group.

BackgroundC-reactive protein (CRP) is a candidate biomarker for major depressive disorder (MDD), but it is unclear how peripheral CRP levels relate to the heterogeneous clinical phenotypes of the disorder.AimTo explore CRP in MDD and its phenotypic associations.MethodWe recruited 102 treatment-resistant patients with MDD currently experiencing depression, 48 treatment-responsive patients with MDD not currently experiencing depression, 48 patients with depression who were not receiving medication and 54 healthy volunteers. High-sensitivity CRP in peripheral venous blood, body mass index (BMI) and questionnaire assessments of depression, anxiety and childhood trauma were measured. Group differences in CRP were estimated, and partial least squares (PLS) analysis explored the relationships between CRP and specific clinical phenotypes.ResultsCompared with healthy volunteers, BMI-corrected CRP was significantly elevated in the treatment-resistant group (P = 0.007; Cohen's d = 0.47); but not significantly so in the treatment-responsive (d = 0.29) and untreated (d = 0.18) groups. PLS yielded an optimal two-factor solution that accounted for 34.7% of variation in clinical measures and for 36.0% of variation in CRP. Clinical phenotypes most strongly associated with CRP and heavily weighted on the first PLS component were vegetative depressive symptoms, BMI, state anxiety and feeling unloved as a child or wishing for a different childhood.ConclusionsCRP was elevated in patients with MDD, and more so in treatment-resistant patients. Other phenotypes associated with elevated CRP included childhood adversity and specific depressive and anxious symptoms. The availability of e-textbooks is increasing along with the variety of electronic readers. According to the “2010 Horizon Report,” adoption of this technology will be widespread in academia in two to three years as it will “… reduce costs, save students from carrying pounds of textbooks and contribute to the environmental efforts…” (Johnson, Levine, Smith, & Stone, 2010, p.6). Will e-textbooks become favored by faculty in higher education? This paper will examine the benefits and limitations of e-textbooks and the attitudes of faculty and students towards using this radical alternative to the centuries-old standard of education. An exploratory case study of faculty attitudes and usages of e-textbooks at a small liberal arts university was performed.

O presente trabalho objetivou comparar o efeito de diferentes extratos de origem vegetal na preferência alimentar e na postura da lagarta do cartucho Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) em folhas de milho. Extratos aquosos a 10% p/v de Chenopodium ambrosioides (Linnaeus) (Erva de Santa Maria), Corymbia citriodora (Hill & Johnson) (Eucalipto Cheiroso), Chrysanthemum leucanthemum (Linnaeus) (Crisântemo) e Azadirachta indica (A. Juss) (Nim) foram aplicados em discos de folhas de milho e oferecidos às lagartas em testes com e sem chance de escolha. A atratividade das lagartas pelos discos com os extratos não diferiu da testemunha no teste com chance de escolha, porém os extratos de Nim e Crisântemo apresentaram efeito fagodeterrente a S. frugiperda. Nos testes sem chance de escolha, o tratamento que mais repeliu as lagartas foi utilizando extrato de Nim, representando possível alternativa para o controle das lagartas desta espécie. Nenhum dos extratos aquosos das espécies vegetais testadas apresentou efeito ovicida. Action of Botanical Insecticides on the Preference of Food and on Postures of Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in Maize Abstract. This study compares the effect of different extracts of vegetal origin in food preference and posture of the fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) in maize leaves. Aqueous extracts 10% w/v of Chenopodium ambrosioides (Linnaeus), Corymbia citriodora (Hill & Johnson), Chrysanthemum leucanthemum (Linnaeus, 1753) and Azadirachta indica (A. Juss) were applied to leaf discs of maize and offered to caterpillars tests with and without choice. The attractiveness of the caterpillars for discs with the extracts did not differ from the control test-choice, but extracts of A. indica and C. leucanthemum showed antifeedant activity to S. frugiperda. In no-choice tests, the treatment was more repelled the larvae using A. indica extract, representing possible alternative for the control of caterpillars of this species. None of the aqueous extracts of the plant species tested showed ovicidal effect.

Knowledge about clean and healthy life in children needs to be given early to shape behavior in everyday life. Knowledge about healthy living can be provided at school through various learning programs. This study aims to find the effectiveness of health promotion programs (JUMSIH) to increase children's knowledge about clean and healthy living. The research method is a pre-experimental one-shot case study design. The respondents of this study were 68 students aged 7-8 years. The results showed that the JUMSIH program can help children have knowledge about healthy living. Based on data analysis, n = 15 generally obtained scores above 2.6. It was concluded that healthy living skills are often performed by students such as hand washing, bathing, and toothbrush behavior which are basic skills for children to be able to live healthy lives. Suggestions for further research which is the development of various programs to increase awareness of clean and healthy living from an early age. The knowledge of the science of human body parts for early childhood is very important so that children have the ability to recognize and support the cleanliness and health of members of the body, as well as so that they recognize their identity. In addition, introducing environmentally friendly material for early childhood teachers to enrich learning media. This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in science using environmentally friendly media. The topic raised in this search was about recognizing body parts and their benefits and treatments. This type of research is action research. Respondents involved 19 early childhood students. The results showed that there was an increase in subjects' understanding of swallowing extremities and treatment 60% in the pre-cycle phase, 80% in the first cycle and 93% in the second cycle. The findings show that the use of happy body media has a positive effect on limb recognition. Further research is recommended on environmentally friendly media and ways of introducing limbs to early childhood through media or strategies suitable for the millennial era. Background:Guselkumab (GUS), an interleukin-23 inhibitor, was efficacious in reducing signs and symptoms of active psoriatic arthritis (PsA) in patients (pts) in two phase 3 trials (DISCOVER-1 and DISCOVER-2).Objectives:To evaluate the efficacy of GUS in PsA pts with imaging-confirmed axial involvement consistent with sacroiliitis in DISCOVER-1&2.Methods:In DISCOVER-1, 381 pts with active PsA (≥ 3 swollen joints, ≥ 3 tender joints; C-reactive protein ≥ 0.3mg/dL despite standard therapies) and in DISCOVER-2, 739 pts with active PsA (≥ 5 swollen joints, ≥ 5 tender joints, CRP ≥ 0.6mg/dL despite standard therapies) were randomized 1:1:1 to GUS 100mg Q4W, GUS 100mg Q8W (Wk0, Wk4, then Q8W), or PBO. This analysis included pts with sacroiliitis at baseline who had either documented imaging confirmation of sacroiliitis in the past or pelvic X-ray confirmation of sacroiliitis at screening (pooled data from DISCOVER-1&2) based on investigators’ judgment of presence/absence of sacroiliitis. Efficacy was assessed by BASDAI score, BASDAI50, modified BASDAI (mBASDAI; excludes Q#3), spinal pain (BASDAI Q#2), ASDAS-CRP score, and ASDAS responses of inactive disease (<1.3), major improvement (decrease ≥2.0), and clinically important improvement (decrease ≥1.1). Pts with missing data at wk24 were classified as nonresponders.Results:312 pts presented with axial involvement (PBO, n= 118; GUS q8w, n = 91; GUS q4w, n = 103). The LS mean changes from baseline to wk24 in BASDAI, spinal pain, mBASDAI, and ASDAS-CRP were greater in the two GUS groups vs PBO (Table). Abstract:
The introduction of basic computer media for early childhood is very important because it is one of the skills that children need in this century. Need to support parents and teachers in developing the implementation of the use of computer technology at home or at school. This study aims to determine and understand the state of learning conducted based on technology. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study model. This study involved 15 children and 5 parents. Data obtained through interviews (children and parents) and questionnaires for parents. The results showed that children who were introduced to and taught basic computers earlier became more skilled in learning activities. Suggestions for further research to be more in-depth both qualitatively and quantitatively explore the use of the latest technology to prepare future generations who have 21st century skills. AimsThe outcomes of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) depend on many factors. The impact of implant design on patient-reported outcomes is unknown. Our goal was to evaluate the patient-reported outcomes and satisfaction after primary TKA in patients with osteoarthritis undergoing primary TKA using five different brands of posterior-stabilized implant.Patients and MethodsUsing our institutional registry, we identified 4135 patients who underwent TKA using one of the five most common brands of implant. These included Biomet Vanguard (Zimmer Biomet, Warsaw, Indiana) in 211 patients, DePuy/Johnson & Johnson Sigma (DePuy Synthes, Raynham, Massachusetts) in 222, Exactech Optetrak Logic (Exactech, Gainesville, Florida) in 1508, Smith & Nephew Genesis II (Smith & Nephew, London, United Kingdom) in 1415, and Zimmer NexGen (Zimmer Biomet) in 779 patients. Patients were evaluated preoperatively using the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), Lower Extremity Activity Scale (LEAS), and 12-Item Short-Form Health Survey questionnaire (SF-12). Demographics including age, body mass index, Charlson Comorbidity Index, American Society of Anethesiologists status, sex, and smoking status were collected. Postoperatively, two-year KOOS, LEAS, SF-12, and satisfaction scores were compared between groups.ResultsOutcomes were available for 4069 patients (98%) at two years postoperatively. In multiple regression analysis, which separately compared each implant group with the aggregate of all others, there were no clinically significant differences in the change of KOOS score from baseline to two-year follow-up between any of the groups. More than 80% of patients in each group were satisfied at this time in all domains. In a multivariate regression model, patients in the NexGen group were the most likely to be satisfied (odds ratio (OR) 1.63; p = 0.006) and Optetrak Logic patients were the least likely to be satisfied (OR 0.60; p < 0.001).ConclusionTKA provides improvement in function and satisfaction regardless of the type of implant. We could not demonstrate superiority of one design above others across these groups of implants, and any price premium for one above the other systems may not be justified. The critical study of the primary type of C. aterrima, for a long time a misidentified species, allowed for proposing C. anomala Snelling as its new junior synonym. As result of this synonymy, C. apache new species is here described based on specimens incorrectly considered as belonging to C. aterrima. In addition, a lectotype for Centris clypeata Friese (= C. nigrocaerulea Smith) is also designated.

Stephen C. Carlson's The Gospel Hoax sets out to validate the long-standing suspicion that Professor Morton Smith, late of Columbia University, forged his famous discovery of aletter of Clement of Alexandria, which quotes from a longer(“secret”)Gospel of Mark. This academic folklore has been passed on like an esoteric tradition since 1975, when Quentin Quesnell called on Smith to make the manuscript of this letter available for forensic testing in order to rule out the possibility of a recent hoax. Quesnell had difficulty substantiating his concerns. In his article in the Catholic Biblical Quarterly, he postulated that a modern scholar might have devised the letter as “a controlled experiment” in order to examine how scholars react to new evidence. Yet the manuscript of this letter, which Smith found in 1958, was inscribed on the last pages of a seventeenth-century book that purportedly was kept in a locked room of a monastery in the Judean desert. What modern forger would leave his creation there and gamble that someone would discover it in his lifetime? For this scenario to seem at all plausible, Quesnell needed to imply what he personally suspected, namely, that Smith forged it himself for this purpose. Accordingly, Quesnell described his hypothetical modern “mystifier” as someone who shared Smith's abilities, opportunities, resources, and interest in what people make of the document.

Background:Guselkumab (GUS), a monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to the p19-subunit of IL-23, is approved to treat psoriasis. Through Week24 (W24) of the Ph3, double-blind, placebo (PBO)-controlled trial in biologic-naïve pts with active PsA (DISCOVER-2), GUS every 4 or 8 weeks (Q4W or Q8W) demonstrated efficacy for joint & skin symptoms and inhibition of structural damage progression (Q4W), and was well tolerated.Objectives:Assess GUS efficacy and safety through W52.Methods:Biologic-naïve adults with active PsA (≥5 swollen+≥5 tender joints; CRP ≥0.6mg/dL) were randomized (1:1:1) to GUS 100 mg Q4W; GUS 100 mg at W0, W4, Q8W; or PBO. At W24, PBO pts crossed over to GUS 100 mg Q4W (PBO X Q4W). ACR response rates at W52, based on nonresponder imputation (NRI) for missing data and as observed in pts who continued study agent at W24, are shown. Observed data for additional endpoints, including PsA-modified van der Heijde Sharp (vdH-S) scores derived from blinded radiographic images collected at W0, W24, W52 (or at d/c) and scored in a new Read Campaign, are shown.Results:712/739 (96.3%) randomized & treated pts continued study agent at W24; 689/739 (93.2%) completed Wk52. NRI ACR20 response rates continued to increase after W24, and at W52 were 70.6% for GUS Q4W and 74.6% for GUS Q8W (Fig 1A). Similar response patterns were observed for the more stringent ACR50/70 criteria (Fig 1C,E). Observed ACR (Fig, 1B,D,F), IGA, PASI & MDA/VLDA responses; dactylitis & enthesitis resolution; and mean improvements in HAQ-DI and SF-36 PCS/MCS scores were also sustained through W52 in pts receiving Q4W & Q8W; W52 data for PBO X Q4W pts were generally consistent with other GUS-treated pts (Fig 1, Table 1). Changes in vdH-S scores were similar for W24-52 (0.62) and W0-24 (0.46) for Q4W; less radiographic progression occurred from W24-52 v W0-24 for Q8W (0.23 v 0.73) & PBO X Q4W (0.25 v 1.00). To stabilize the application of some names, lectotypes were designated for C. bimaculata, C. collaris, C. decolorata, C. denudans, C. dorsata, C. ferruginea, C. fuscata, C. maculata (= C. decolorata), C. obsoleta, C. picea, C. poecila, C. trigonoides, C. violacea and C. vittata. Centris picea nomen oblitum is withdrawn from the synonymy of C. lanipes (Fabricius) and proposed as new junior synonym of C. trigonoides nomen protectum. Centris nigrescens is removed from the synonymy of C. vittata and revalidated, proposing C. merrillae Cockerell and C. lanipes ogilviei Cockerell as its new junior synonymies. Lectotypes for this latter species and for C. rubella Smith (= C. ferruginea) were also designated. In addition, due to the impossibility of identifying C. thoracica and the misplacement of its type material, it is proposed to consider it nomen dubium and place it incertae sedis.

The anti-oxidant properties of naturally occurring substances like curcumin have been well established. Objectives: To evaluate the protective effects of curcumin against bisphenol-A induced testicular damage. Study Design: Experimental Study. Setting: Department of Anatomy, University of Health Sciences, Lahore. Period: From March 2015 to December 2015. Material & Methods: Thirty six rats were divided into four groups A, B, C and D of 9 animals each. Group A (control) was given 5ml/kg/day of corn oil orally for 10 days. Group B (Bisphenol-A) was given 100mg/kg/day of Bisphenol-A dissolved in corn oil orally for 10 days. Group C (recovery) was given 100mg/kg/day of BPA dissolved in corn oil orally for 10 days and left untreated for 10 days. Group D (Curcumin + BPA) was given 100mg/kg/day of BPA and 100mg/kg/day of Curcumin, dissolved in corn oil orally for 10 days. Rats of group A, B and D were sacrificed on day 11 and those of group C on day 21. After weighing the euthanized rats, testes were removed, processed and tissue sections were stained with H&E for Johnson scoring and with PAS stain for assessment of basement membrane integrity. Results: Bisphenol-A administration caused a significant decrease in weight of animals, a significantly low Johnson score of seminiferous tubules and high frequency of disrupted basement membranes of the tubules in Group B as compared to control. The weight gain of animals improved in the with-drawl group C while no self-recovery was observed in other parameters. Curcumin co-administration improved the body weight gain of animals, increased the Johnson scoring of tubules significantly and partially restored the basement membrane integrity in group D, comparable to the control group. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that co-administration of a potent antioxidant curcumin causes a significant antagonism of the histo-toxicity of testis produced by Bisphenol-A in albino rats.
