During the past decade and a half, a great deal of research has posited a developmental sequence approach in second language acquisition. Much of this research has proposed that certain linguistic structures are acquired in a natural immutable order while other linguistic structures are acquired variably as a result of a learner's orientation (Clahsen, Meisel, & Pienemann, 1983; Meisel, Clahsen, & Pienemann, 1981; Pienemann, 1984, 1985, 1987; Pienemann & Johnston, 1987). Food has long served as a form of cultural capital, and historically it was an elite few food critics who held the power to ascribe status to dining experiences. The rise of social and digital media arguably allows anybody to adopt the role of critic. Lowered barriers associated with digital technologies, coupled with the contemporary ‘foodatainment' boom have opened the floodgates for amateurs to weigh into the critical culinary discourse. The tendency for contemporary high-status dining experiences to include casual, rustic and simple foods suggests that the age of food snobbery is in the pa

Hughes, Ceri, Miguel Martinez Lucio, Stephen Mustchin, and Miriam Tenquist. Understanding whether local employment charters could support fairer employment practices: Research Briefing Note. University of Manchester Work and Equalities Institute, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.3927/uom.5176698.

Abstract:
Employment charters are voluntary initiatives that attempt to describe ‘good’ employment practices and to engage and recognise those employers that meet or aspire to meet these practices. They can operate at different spatial scales, ranging from international and national accreditation schemes to local charters that focus on engaging employers in specific regions or cities. The latter are the focus of this briefing paper. At least six city-regions in England had local employment charters at the time of our research. These areas alone account for over a fifth (21 per cent) of the resident work

Abstract:
In clinical practice, there is mounting concern about the burden of SCAR in relation to novel biologics as well as the increasing cost of diagnosis and management. This consensus report provides unique insights and the latest thinking from renowned experts on this important topic. The skin is among the parts of the body most commonly affected by adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Cutaneous ADRs affect 2% to 3% of all hospitalized patients and have a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations, are caused by various medicinal products, and result from different pathophysiologic mechanisms. Hence, thei

TENSILE BEHAVIOUR OF TMCP Q690D HIGH-STRENGTH STRUCTURAL STEEL AT STRAIN RATES FROM 0.00025 TO 760 S-1. The Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.18057/ijasc.2022.18.1.7.

Abstract:
The application of Q690D high-strength structural steel (HSSS) has been increasing in engineering structures. The lack of knowledge of the strain rate behaviour limits the application to the extreme loading conditions such as blast and impact loadings. This paper presents a series of tensile tests on the dynamic tensile behaviour of Q690D HSSS produced through the thermo-mechanical control process (TMCP). The stress-strain relationships of TMCP Q690D in the strain rate range of 0.00025 to 760 s-1 were measured by using the universal and servo-hydraulic high speed testing machines. The experime
