Abstract:

Knowing students' opinions about instructor's screen sharing via various media is important for developing online science courses including chemistry. This study examined university students’ opinions about the idea and the practice of instructor’s screen sharing via websites on example of join.me, VoIP-applications on example of Skype, and multi-user 3D virtual environments on example of Second Life. It was conducted during summer course of General Chemistry at University of Oregon College of Arts and Sciences in Eugene, USA, for two consecutive years, 2001 and 2012. The data were collected through an online 14-item 4-point Likert-type questionnaire and students’ reviews. It was found that students have primarily positive opinions about screen sharing regardless of their gender, major, residence, and employment status. Join.me was found to be the most and Second Life to be the least favored media for screen sharing. Students with higher final grades provided more positive opinions. Key words: chemistry education, online teaching, screen sharing, Skype, Second Life.

Abstract:

The use and import of virtual collaboration (VC) has increased at an exponential rate. Despite its potential advantages, however, VC continues to be hindered by feelings of distrust, detachment, and even isolation among virtual team members. For each of these reasons, the present study analyzed more than 1,500 survey responses to develop best practices for current users and developers of e-collaboration software. More specifically, this study used an expanded variation of Vorvoreanu's (2008) Website Experience Analysis (WEA) to explore participants' views of the seven most popular VC programs in use today: Basecamp, Dropbox, Google Drive, iDoneThis, Join.me, Skitch, and Skype. Qualitative results of this study revealed the significance of (1) name recognition, (2) interpersonal facilitation, (3) clarity/simplicity, (4) cost consideration, and (5) mobile accessibility. The study's results were then used to develop five corresponding implications for both users and developers: (1) increased integration, (2) expanded physicality, (3) supplemental training, (4) financial entrée, and (5) utilized flexibility.

Abstract:

Застосування нових технічних інструментів і комплексних підходів до задоволення потреб клієнтів в правовій допомозі дозволяє забезпечити більш якісний рівень юридичного бізнесу. Цифровізація судочинства, дистанційність у комунікації з клієнтами та колегами спричинило попит на покращення навиків роботи з різноманітними інформаційними платформами (наприклад, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Join.Me) у адвокатів та інших представників юридичного бізнесу. Адвокат розглядається не як кінцевий споживач правової інформації, а особа, яка споживає, аналізує та використовує в подальшому таку інформацію з метою захисту законних прав та інтересів клієнта. Метою статті виступає дослідження процесу диджиталізації у вітчизняній адвокатурі та перспективам подальшого розвитку адвокатської діяльності. Реалізація поставленої мети передбачає вирішення низки завдань, серед яких виступає визначення проблематики у забезпеченні належної якості правової допомоги в умовах пандемії COVID-19 та війни на території України. Наукова новизна. Визначено центральні на думку автора проблеми у забезпеченні якісної правової допомоги в сучасній Україні, такі як: неможливість проведення оффлайн зустрічей із клієнтами; паперовий документообіг засобами поштового зв’язку; необхідність оперативного формування електронних доказів з метою фіксації злочинів (правопорушень) та підтвердження понесеної майнової шкоди, завданої юридичним, фізичним особам. Цифровізація судочинства розглядається як основний шлях подолання таких проблем. У висновку констатовано, що розвиток інформаційних технологій протягом останнього десятиліття та сучасні умови в Україні спричинили швидке впровадження інформаційних ресурсів та сервісів в усі сфери життєдіяльності, і вітчизняна адвокатська діяльність не стала винятком. У підсумку, сприйнято процес диджиталізації юриспруденції як явище суто позитивне, оскільки може зберегти рівень забезпечення ефективного захисту прав та законних інтересів фізичних та юридичних осіб, які проживають або перебуваються на території України в умовах воєнного стану та пандемії.

Abstract:

The outbreak of the present pandemic coronavirus (official designation COVID-19 or SARS-CoV-2) has a clear negative impact on academic and research activities. Issues created by such pandemic viz. loss of communication; shut down of school, college and universities; disruption of the formal learning process; damage of print materials, etc. provoke the transformation of the learning process from conventional to digital. A sophisticated & multitasking platform for online learning is the primary requirement of this transformation, which conforms to the 5A's of access, i.e., Availability, Adequacy, Accessibility, Affordability, and Appropriateness. It bridges the digital divide by ensuring equal access to the web for all. In this paper, the authors have conducted a comparative analysis between the most commonly used web-conferencing tools (viz. FCC, ZOOM, GTM, Join.me & Cisco WebEx) in India, both in terms of users’ & economic perspective. The Users’ perspective was determined by conducting a short online survey using a Google form questionnaire. The survey contains 450 respondents equally distributed among three sample groups, viz. Students, faculty members & library professionals. And the Economical compatibility is identified by solely using the tools & check their pricing & plans. After evaluation & comparison, the study identified that the tool FCC (Free Conference Call), can use by learners and educators as an alternative solution to the physical classroom. This is a dissemination or sharing platform and the most versatile and comprehensive free web-conferencing solution which can be used by academic institutions and educators for online classes. Besides, this paper also goes through a basic overview of 5 A’s of access and provides sufficient evidence that FCC meets all the five criteria of accessibility to clarify the judgment of its acceptance.

On perçoit généralement les gangs comme étant un phénomène essentiellement masculin, presque emblématique du caractère rebelle des garçons, mais les gangs sont composés d’une part importante de filles. Les dernières données indiquent qu’au moins le quart des membres de gangs sont des filles. Cet article s’intéresse aux perspectives théoriques sur le genre présentes dans les recherches traditionnelles sur les gangs et propose d’aborder le phénomène des gangs sous l’angle de la criminologie féministe afro-américaine et des études sur les trajectoires de vie des femmes. Privilégiant les études qui visent spécifiquement le genre et l’ethnicité, l’article se penche ensuite sur les circonstances qui incitent les filles à se joindre aux gangs. Il est essentiel d’analyser ce phénomène en fonction du rôle de la victimisation, surtout la victimisation sexuelle, tant sur le plan des causes que des conséquences de l’adhésion des filles aux gangs. Les tensions et les divisions au sein de la famille, l’influence des relations entre filles et membres de gangs sur la décision de joindre le gang, la consommation d’alcool ou de drogue (et le risque accru de victimisation) ou un milieu scolaire et un quartier défavorisé caractérisé par la violence, sont autant de facteurs qui incitent les jeunes filles à se joindre aux gangs.

Bilinen ilk iki-boyutlu nano materyal olan grafenin sahip olduğu mükemmel termal, elektronik, optik ve mekaniksel özelliklerinin zenginliğinin yanı sıra, eşsiz 2D yapısından dolayı esnek optoelektronik aygıt uygulamalarında sıklıkla tercih edilmektedir. Bu sayede insan arayüzlü cihazlar, robotik cilt, giyilebilir optoelektronik cihazlar, dokunmatik ekranlar, ultra hızı lazerler ve ışık yayan aygıtlar gibi esnek ya da gerilebilir cihazlara duyulan büyük ilginin oluşmasına ve bu alanda yürütülen çalışmaların hız kazanmasına sebep olmaktadır. A l’occasion de la publication de ces mélanges offerts au Professeur Rudolf Wachter, j’aimerais me pencher sur l’étymologie et la potentielle valeur métapoétique du verbe sequor. J’ai l’honneur d’avoir été invité à me joindre à cette célébration du Professeur Wachter par ses socii, mot qui d’ailleurs, quoiqu’en aient pu penser les Latins, partage une racine étymologique commune avec sequor. Tout comme son cognat grec ἕπομαι, avec lequel il partage la même racine indo-européenne *sekw- qui véhicule l’idée de suivre, le verbe sequor, lorsqu’employé dans un contexte poétique, peut connoter que le poète « suit » les pas de ses prédécesseurs littéraires.

Une légende du xiiiesiècle rapporte que Gratien, fondateur du droit canonique, Pierre Lombard, initiateur de la théologie scolastique et Pierre le Mangeur, créateur de l'histoire ecclésiastique, furent engendrés par la même mère, qui les conçut de trois unions adultères. Il importe peu de déterminer si la légende a été reçue de façon directe ou métaphorique ou d'en discuter le contenu implicite qui assigne trois fondateurs à des disciplines dont l'émergence fut, en fait, graduelle : à chacune des figures, il faudrait, bien sûr, joindre une série de prédécesseurs. Mais la légende affirme clairement une césure et une convergence, consciemment perçues dès le xiiesiècle.

Ce papier se propose de décrire l’évolution diachronique de l’indéfini aucun. Nous évoquerons d’abord son évolution sémantique : valeur positive et valeur négative. Il sera question ensuite de son évolution catégorielle : déterminant indéfini et pronom indéfini. Nous observerons également son évolution morphologique : variation en genre (aucun/aucune) et en nombre (aucun/aucuns). Nous déterminerons finalement son évolution syntaxique : cas de postposition (sentiment aucun), cas d’insertion d’adjectifs ou d’indéfinis dans le groupe aucun + N (aucun + beau/autre + N) et la construction directe/indirecte de l’épithète ou de l’indéfini que l’on peut joindre à aucun (aucun sérieux/autre vs aucun de sérieux/d’autre).

Résumé Dans l' Heptaméron , le mot nouvelle garde son ambivalence, toujours lié au champ sémantique de la nouveauté et se référant désormais au genre narratif à l'italienne. Mais les devisants qui racontent leurs « nouvelles », sans être acteurs ou témoins directs, ne tiennent pas au mot. À les entendre annoncer ou conclure, le mot ne s'impose pas - pas plus qu'il n'est privilégié par les copistes dans la présentation des plus anciens manuscrits. Conte, histoire, nouvelle restent interchangeables, et le mot exemple vient s'y joindre, essentiel à l'intention plus qu'à l'acte narratif, mais à double face, entre morale et rhétorique.

Résumé La mise en place de la réforme des services sociaux et de santé aura mené le secteur communautaire à s'interroger sur la pertinence de se joindre au projet de concertation avec le réseau étatique. Cette réforme, selon plusieurs observateurs, répond à une crise de régulation de l'État-providence et en annonce la transformation néolibérale. Cette dynamique comporte deux grandes dimensions: l'une budgétaire et l'autre de légitimité de l'appareil politique. Les auteurs élaborent quelques pistes de renouvellement des pratiques sociales où le secteur communautaire situerait sa participation dans une perspective de développement de l'autonomie des groupes locaux plutôt qu'en compétition avec les institutions pour obtenir l'homologation étatique.

Les tableaux mémoriels à médaillons photographiques, souvent négligés, soulèvent des problèmes d’interprétation quant à leur fonction dans la cadre de la construction de la mémoire de la Grande Guerre en Bretagne. Il ne s’agit pas que de « visages sur des noms », suivant le sens donné lors de leurs redécouvertes à l’occasion du centenaire. A l’analyse, le sens de ces objets, qui peinent à trouver une place dans le cadre mémoriel des communes, se révèle plus complexe. Cet article ouvre un dossier longtemps négligé, en vue de mieux comprendre les raisons qui ont poussé à joindre ces tableaux aux autres monuments commémoratifs au cours des années 1920.

On donne ici l’édition provisoire d’un ensemble de fragments hautement problématique, sur la base d’un autographe et de trois copies Vandeul très augmentées. Contrairement à d’autres cas bien connus d’augmentation artificielle de textes de Diderot par Vandeul, celui-ci semble reposer sur des fragments expressément prévus pour cela, qu’ils nous soient ou non parvenus sous forme autographe. Cet ensemble se concentre le plus souvent sur la diversité des opinions. On y retrouve des échos bien reconnaissables d’idées de Diderot exprimées ailleurs, mais la plupart des fragments resteront énigmatiques jusqu’à ce que d’autres connaisseurs de Diderot soient à même de les éclairer. Cette édition est donc une invitation aux lecteurs, instamment priés de se joindre à ce jeu de piste.

Né le 4 février 1917 dans un village des environs de Damiette, ‘Abd al-Rahmān Badaī s'est éteint au Caire, où il avait étudié puis enseigné – à l'Universitél – avant de joindre l'Université d'Héliopoplis. ‘A. Badawī nous laisse une oeuvre monumentale, plus de cent-vingt livres en arabe et cinq autres en français. Mondialement connu, son impact sur l'histoire de la philosophie grecque, sur l'histoire de la philosophie islamique et sur la pensée arabe au cours de la seconde moitié du XXe siècle, est immense et incontestable. Travailleur solitaire et acharné, il n'a jamais été égalé pour ses connaissances tant linguistiques que philosophiques et historiques, et surtout pour l'étendue des champs du savoir qu'il a pu couvrir.
