Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract. Holothurian selerites are some of the most stratigraphically important microfossils of the middle Triassic of Jordan. Stratigraphically and palaeogeographically important faunas have been obtained by dissolving Triassic carbonate rocks with a dilute acetic acid. The oldest forms, Acanthotheelia jordanica Sadeddin, Priscopedatus quadratus Kozur & Mostler, and Tetravirga perforata Mostler, occur in the Hisban Formation (Anisian) in the area of the northeast corner of the Dead Sea and Wadi Abu Oneiz. North of this area in Wadi Salit, Ladinian holothurian faunas are especially characterized by the mass occurrence of Schizotheelia jordanica and Schizotheelia multiporata Kozur & Sadeddin in the lower part of the section (Fassanian) and Theelia tubercula Kristan-Tollmann in the upper part (Longobardian). In spite of some differences, the Jordanian Middle Triassic holothurian faunas are similar to those from the Northern Alps and Germanic Basin, and the Himalayas. As yet, no holothurian selerites have been recovered from Jordanian Lower or Upper Triassic deposits.

Abstract:

Abstract:
SummaryE-commerce activities and the legal frame that results from them raise many relevant questions. Especially those related to the protection of the layman buyer.Concerning this issue, and in the framework of fundamental rules. The professional seller should bring to the knowledge of the consumer all the legal rules laid down by the law in a clear and concise way before the conclusion of the e-contract. Thus, will be cited precisely: the identity and address of the seller (professional), particularly a detailed description of the steps leading to the conclusion of the contract. This is the case in the European and French law. E-contracts are also subject to legal rules framed by the obligations of and the seller the buyer such as delivery, reception, payment, e-signature of the contract, the right to withdrawal or repayment. Within the framework, we show a great interest towards the legal rules set up by lawmakers in the French law. It seems necessary for us that such accurate legal rules regulate e-commerce activities in the Jordanian law. The reason why we made some propositions in this thesis. Our study shows that general sales conditions are standard clauses and components of the adhesion contract binding consumers and professionals that represents the specificity of general sales conditions.Furthermore, those common clauses can be classified in two categories either related to the lay out of the contract or related to the accomplishment of the contract. At these two stages of the lay out of the contract, the consumer is protected by the legal frame provided by the French law who bans abusive clauses. Some of these rules can be transposed to the Jordanian law.Key words: Islamic law, Jordanian law, consumer, recipient, sender, delivery, guarantee

Abstract:
The recent and widespread awareness on the challenges of teaching foreign language and culture has favoured the diffusion of intercultural finalities of those teachings. Such an observation is also applicable to the problem confronting the teaching of french language and culture in Jordan where the traditionnal civilisation perspective is still in force. Moreover, the important distance between french and jordanian cultural systems leads to the emergence and the consolidation of stereotyped cultural representations. The teaching of french culture in Jordan is therefore caracterised by the coming together of two conceptions of social behaviours corresponding to different readings of the world. The intercultural approach in the teaching of languages and cultures puts the teaching of the target culture within the context of the otherness and the linking of individuals with specific identities determined by their membership of a specific cultural community. Taking target and original cultures’ representations into consideration becomes a focal point of education on perception of otherness. The teacher is therefore saddled with the role of a mediator among the different actors during the didactic contract. Our research aims at bringing to the fore the content and the sources of jordanian students representations on the french culture as well as their own culture. Some of our findings could be used for the conception of french culture teaching programmes in an alloglotte environment

Abstract:
Squatter settlements in Amman are at the center of a permanent negociation between the authorities and the squatters. The upgrating projects concerning the squatter settlements, supported by the World Bank, fostered the improvement of living conditions and the accumulation of inhabitants' capacity for negociation. Nevertheless, the full squatters' integration to the city it's not considered any longer to be necessary in the "post-fordist" world ; the tolerance didn't go so far as to legalize the squatter settlements, except for the interventions of the 80's. The systematic violation of the planning rules, as it appears in informal housing, hides an intial stage of the indomitable conflict which fulfills, according to Carl Schmitt, the "criterion of politics". The management of informal housing, through the key words of "development", "community participation" and "developpement", expresses a "neutralisation" of its political aspects

Abstract:

Abstract:
Decision-making in energy politics requires the establishment of energy accountings, as indespensable tools of analysis and comprehension. If the establishment of an energy accounting is relatively easy on the national scale, it is not so on a city scale. The datas and informations are very rare. When they could be found, they must be adpated to our needs. So, datas collecting and adapting by different calculation and valuation methods constituted our main effort, which resulted in an approximate energy balance of amman. From this energy balance, specific characters of the energy consumption in amman (as a capital of a country non-producer of oil in the middle east) are concluded

Abstract:
As countries around the world are racing towards realizing the common dream of humans creating long-term habitats in space, emerging space countries like Jordan, with no established space agency, are struggling to participate in the development of research and projects in the field. Additionally, due to the deteriorating economical situation in Jordan, students now seek professions with higher market demands and payment rates to ensure a safe career path. This led Jordanian students to overlook emerging fields of study like space. From here arises the need to conduct proper outreach to spread awareness on space research and its benefits, and to incorporate space studies in the Jordanian educational system in order to build a strong base of human resources in the field. Since Jordan is lacking in both educational and theoretical, as well as professional and practical sides, students mostly turn to completing their studies and gaining professional experience in the space field abroad. Therefore, before establishing Jordanian-targeted education programs and initiatives for space studies, there is the need for the establishment of local space institutes, projects, and programs which ensure that students will have access to training programs and practical experience as well as securing future job opportunities, thereby making space careers a viable option. In 2020, under the Moon Village Association's Participation of Emerging Space Countries program, a roadmap for Jordan’s contribution to lunar exploration and the Jordan Space Research Initiative (JSRI) were created. This 20-year roadmap focuses on establishing an analog R&D facility in Jordan’s Wadi Rum desert, aiming to support the emerging space field in Jordan, while contributing to its national priorities and sustainable development goals. Beginning with the outreach element to foster space education, JSRI launched two space design competitions in 2021 to engage students and professionals interested in the field. These competitions allowed the participants to learn about spacesuit and rover design, as well as develop their own prototypes in a hands-on educational exercise. By providing funding and expert support, JSRI ensured that a diverse group of Jordanians was able to participate, regardless of their backgrounds. This approach proved to be successful in enabling the participation of various segments of the Jordanian society, and has shown that people with a passion for space can thrive through educational initiatives such as these competitions. Building on this success, future partnerships and educational initiatives are being established, aiding in the formation of a space network in Jordan

Abstract:
Scientific evidence shows that dietary patterns are associated with the risk of IBD, particularly among unhealthy and Western dietary patterns. However, Western dietary patterns are not exclusive to Western countries, as Jordanians are steadily moving towards a Western lifestyle, which includes an increased consumption of processed foods. This study aims to investigate the association between dietary patterns and the risk factors for IBD cases among Jordanian adults. This case-control study was conducted between November 2018 and December 2019 in the largest three hospitals in Jordan. Three hundred and thirty-five Jordanian adults aged between 18–68 years were enrolled in this study: one hundred and eighty-five IBD patients who were recently diagnosed with IBD (n = 100 for ulcerative colitis (UC) and n = 85 for Crohn’s disease (CD)) and 150 IBD-free controls. Participants were matched based on age and marital status. In addition, dietary data was collected from all participants using a validated food frequency questionnaire. Factor analysis and principal component analysis were used to determine the dietary patterns. Odds ratios (OR) and their 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated using a multinomial logistic regression model. Two dietary patterns were identified among the study participants: high-vegetable and high-protein dietary patterns. There was a significantly higher risk of IBD with high-protein intake at the third and fourth quartiles in the non-adjusted model as well as the other two adjusted models. In contrast, the high-vegetable dietary pattern shows a significantly protective effect on IBD in the third and fourth quartiles in all the models. Thus, a high-vegetable dietary pattern may be protective against the risk of IBD, while a high-protein dietary pattern is associated with an increased risk of IBD among a group of the Jordanian population.

Abstract:
"This paper reports on findings from a U.S. federally-funded research project involving American universities that created online courses to develop Jordanian K-12 English teachers’ instructional strategies and communication skills who are employed in disadvantaged or vulnerable rural and urban schools. The four innovative, online courses address Jordanian English teachers’ desire to motivate learners (Al-efeshat & Baniabdelrahman, 2020), develop students’ critical reading skills (Bataineh & Al-Shbatat, 2018), reduce students’ reading anxiety (Al-Shboul et at., 2013), and foster metacognitive reading strategies (Alsarayreh, 2020) among other challenges. Studies have found that increasing mobile technologies to students and teachers and integrating basic technology in public and refugee schools would profoundly impact the scope of learning and instruction (UNESCO, 2018; UNHRC, 2018). Further, research on teacher quality shows that weaknesses in teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) and classroom practice undermine effective student learning and achievement (Phetla & Newman, 2020; Pontefract and Hardman 2005). Continuing professional development and PCK positively impact schools and embodies the ability to evaluate students thinking, plan appropriate learning opportunities, and modify, combine, and use instructional materials to develop conceptual understanding (Darling-Hammond et al., 1999). Teachers’ professional development through teachers’ collaboration has been reported to be effective for the improvement of schools’ performance and students’ learning outcomes in all curriculum subjects. Research repeatedly demonstrates that continuing professional development makes a difference to teachers’ pedagogic knowledge and skill which is reflected in enhanced student learning outcomes (AL-Wreikat & Bin Abdullah, 2010; Mahmoud, 2015). This project seeks to narrow these gaps and positively impact learning outcomes and student competencies through the innovative online and in-person PDP with Jordanian teachers of English. Using gathered qualitative and quantitative data, we identify the program’s impact on TEFL teachers’ integrated service learning projects and culturally relevant pedagogies to positively affected students’ learning, advanced teachers’ knowledge of research-based instructional strategies, and addressed other challenges identified by the teachers. We will also share the process for selecting teachers to participate in the program and collaborations we developed with international stakeholders."

Abstract:
The King Hussein Foundation (KHF) partners with Oxfam in the Youth Participation and Employment programme (YPE) to promote entrepreneurship through supporting youth to engage in business start-ups and scale-ups. KHF projects support community-based organizations (CBOs) in establishing revolving funds, training CBOs in microfinance management and building the capacity of potential entrepreneurs. Apprenticeships and shadowing are two examples of popular approaches to facilitating entrepreneurship and self-employment. During the COVID-19 crisis, KHF has continued the implementation of activities virtually. This case study presents examples of young people utilizing financial support, reaching out to new clients using ICT, and eventually exploring ways to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19.

Abstract:
Oxfam partners with the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) through its Youth Participation and Employment (YPE) programme in order to connect with communities and train local community-based organizations (CBOs). JOHUD’s aim is to build the job-seeking capacity of youth in four governorates in Jordan. The programme organizes informal activities involving peer-to-peer education to help young people engage in the community as volunteers, and links them to various governmental and non-governmental institutions. COVID-19 and the associated lockdowns have altered the organization’s operations, with most projects shifting online. JOHUD has adopted a youth-led initiative aimed at matching young people’s skills with labour-market demand in each governorate where the programme operates. This case study presents examples of how the programme has helped young people transform into professionals, and how youth-led employment centres can contribute to youth development activities.
