Studiens syfte är att undersöka förskolebarns föreställningar om jordens form samt var/hur människan bor på jorden och metoden som använts för att uppnå syftet var kvalitativa intervjuer av nio barn i åldern fem år. Tidigare forskning inom området finns, dock är de grundade på intervjuer och studier av något äldre barn.
Barn formar utifrån sina erfarenheter egna föreställningar och dessa hjälper dem att skapa ordning och förklaring till olika saker. Föreställningarna är i dessa unga år oftast inte vetenskapligt korrekta, men resultatet av intervjuerna i denna studie visar dock att de flesta ändå har kommit en bra bit i sin utveckling om jordens sfäriska form samt var/hur människan kan bo på jorden. Barnen har många begrepp och föreställningar, dock ännu inte helt fast förankrad.

Full textThis thesis deals with the National Society Against Emigration (Sw.Nationalföreningen mot emigrationen) – referred to as the NE – and its radical right-wing leader Adrian Molin. Th e NE was founded in 1907 in order to stem the tide of emigration from Sweden and facilitate re-immigration by providing jobs and accomodation. Its many bureaus served as employment offi ces, land distribution centres and own-your-own-home companies, mainly aimed at creating smallholdings for Swedish working-class families.
The purpose of the study is to investigate the organization, concept and practise of the internal colonization of rural Sweden between 1907 and 1925. By following both the successes and setbacks of the NE during the first decades of the twentieth century, ideas and opportunities circulating in Swedish society in a time of wide-ranging ideological and material change are discussed. Questions in focus include why a society to prevent
emigration from Sweden emerged at that particular time; the function it served for both society and the state; the form internal colonization actually took and how it was conducted in comparison with other governmental and private agricultural reforms; and the attitude of the NE toward modernization in general. Theoretically the dissertation takes its point of departure in theories on nation-building and internal colonization (i.e., the establishment of small-scale farming and the cultivation of new land within the national borders), corporatism and attitudes toward modernization. The ideological analysis has been inspired by political scientist Michael Freeden´s theory of the construction of political ideologies via political concepts, as well as an analysis of the view of social categories such as gender, class and ethnicity. The source material is comprised of magazines, newspaper articles, letters and books and offi cial parliamentary publications. The practise of internal colonization has been studied with the aid of preserved accounts of the NE’s small-scale farming colonies, real estate documents, company reports, correspondance and further press materials.
The surge of anti-emigration attitudes is explained as a powerful reaction arising at the turn of the century due to the economic upswing in Swedish industry and the social transformations which followed in the 1890s, when the country was seen as a nation with a promising future. That Adrian Molin founded the NE in 1907 is viewed as a consequence of his nationalistic thought. Together with political scientist Prof. Rudolf Kjellén, Molin was one of the country´s foremost advocates of an integrative nationalism.
The NE was led by an elite of middle- and upper-class men involved in politics, industry and voluntary associations. Female members and representatives of the lower social classes were mostly absent. In general the NE neglected women in both speeches and plans, being preoccupied with ideas concerning the cultivation of middle-class Swedish men.
The NE became a co-actor in a corporative colonization eff ort sanctioned by government financing during the 1910s. In 1920 the NE’s projects were condemned as hierarchical and undemocratic in comparison with other own-home organizations. Many other own-home companies were built on a cooperative foundation,
while the NE was run by a national, regional, and local political and financial elite. Suspicions were raised about the raison d´être of the society. The state withdrew its subsidies and loans, and the NE lost it close connections with the government. Though conservative and reactionary in social issues, the NE cannot be characterized as critical of civilization or economic modernization of the country. Its programme intended to aid in the development
of both agriculture and industry. The creation of more smallholdings would help bridge the problematic transition between two systems, from agrarian to industrial society.

Full textBiochar has the potential to reverse the trend of increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Biochar has soil&improving properties through its porous structure and large active area which can be used by agriculture, hobby cultivation and urban green structure. In an innovative project, Stockholm has set up a pilot plant for biochar&production incorporated into an urban flow that combines waste management, energy production, soil improvement and climate change mitigation. The purpose of this survey is to evaluate the importance of biomass processing because the amount of energy and resources invested in pre&treatment affects the overall sustainability potential of the project. Two different processed fractions of biomass were empirically investigated in the plant during the first months of operation. None of the tested fractions worked satisfactorily in operation. One contained too many small particles which caused problems with tunnel formation and feeding. The other fraction contained too many large pieces which caused repeated shutdowns. The analysis showed disproportionately high ash content in the second fraction's biochar. That may indicate combustion, which should be investigated further.

Full textThe main purpose of the survey was to find out what preschool children know and think about the hydrological circle and the importance of water for every form of life on Earth. At the same time, the survey aimed to find out which way the preschool teachers chose to work with the children and how they had been planning and thinking about it. The survey was implemented through qualitative interviews with pedagogues as well as children. The interviews were recorded and thereafter transcribed for later analysis. The results of the survey show that the children have good knowledge of the hydrological circle and the importance of water for life on Earth. They know the hydrological circle in general but lack some knowledge which prevents them from describing the circle in detail. The results also show that the way of work the pedagogues have chosen have been good for the learning process of the children. One of several conclusions is that children in Swedish preschools seem to have a high level of knowledge, which suggests that the Swedish preschool is one of high quality. It's also obvious that the way of work the pedagogues choose is of big importance for the learning process of the children.

Full textSyftet med denna studie var att undersöka vad elever har för uppfattningar om förhållandena mellan jorden, månen och solen. De områden somhar undersökts har gällt storlek, avstånd och rörelse. Denna studie har också undersökt hur elever uppfattar att månens faser uppkommer. Försök har också gjorts att utröna var deras uppfattningar härrör från. Undersökningen är baserad på 20 intervjuer med elever där deras egna teckningar av de undersökta fenomenen har utgjort grunden. Genom en kvalitativ fenomenografisk analys av intervjuerna har jag kategoriserat elevernas uppfattningar.
Resultatet visar att elevernas uppfattningar ofta skiljer sig från den vedertagna vetenskapliga och att deras uppfattningar grundar sig på bilder eller modeller från TV och böcker, där förhållandena mellan objekten aldrig är de riktiga. Även om elever har haft undervisning i skolan så har de kvar sina egna föreställningar. Det visar sig också att det finns ett klart samband mellan elevernas intresse och deras resultat.
The main purpose with this study was to explore students conceptions about the relations between the earth, the sun and the moon. The fields that have been investigated are size, distance and movement. This study has also investigated how students interpret the origin of the phases of the moon. Attempts have been made to find out where the students conceptions originate from. The study is based on 20 interviews with students where their own pictures about the investigated phenomena are the base. By doing a qualitative phenomenographical analysis of these interviews I’ve done categories of the students conceptions.
The result shows that students conceptions often differs from the accepted scientific and that their conceptions are a result of pictures and models from TV and books, where the relations between the objects never are the real. Even if the students have had education they still keep on to their own conceptions. It also shows that there are a distinct connection between the students interest and their result.

Full textAtt rädsla för att misslyckas finns omkring oss är något som de flesta är medvetna om och oftast är det så att ju mer som står på spel, desto svårare blir processen att komma fram till rätt beslut. Studien har undersökt hur variabeln rädsla för att misslyckas påverkar ett strategiskt beslut om att etablera sig utomlands. Uppsatsen är byggd på en kvalitativ metod där fyra internationaliserade företag har studerats genom intervjuer. Vidare utgår studien från ett positivistiskt synsätt och ett deduktivt angreppssätt tillämpas. Bland de fyra företagen sågs risker som nödvändigt för att utveckla organisationen, men man tog helst inte onödiga risker. Avslutningsvis visar studien att rädsla påverkar internationaliseringsbeslut framförallt i form av förlust- och osäkerhetsaversion, där osäkerheten ökade med ökade fysiska och psykiska avstånd.

The purpose of this dissertation is the study of some chemical aspects discussed by Edward Jorden (1569-1633), during the analysis of mineral waters in the beginning of the 17th century. An historical of mineral waters analysis, and proposals on the classification of minerals are also considered on this work. The theme was chosen after the contact with Jorden s work, during the research about the identification test for salts and sowre juices made by the author, and realized the amount of information about the chemical knowledge of the period in his work. Due the importance of the test with the scarlet cloath indicator, a historical of the indicators with color changes was made. In this work, we gave priority to the concept and classifications of the minerals given by Jorden, using as base the 1633 edition of his Discourse of Naturall Bathes and Minerall Waters
Esta dissertação estuda alguns aspectos químicos abordados por Edward Jorden (1569-1633) na análise de águas minerais no início do século XVII. Para tanto, foram revistos os históricos da análise de águas minerais à época, assim como algumas idéias sobre a classificação dos minerais. Esse tema foi escolhido após o contato com a obra ao analisar o teste para identificação de sais e sucos azedos utilizados pelo autor, e perceber a quantidade de informações sobre o conhecimento químico do período presente em seu trabalho. Devido à importância do teste com o indicador de tecido escarlate, foi realizado um histórico do uso de indicadores com mudança de cor. Neste trabalho, priorizamos o conceito e a classificação dos minerais dados por Jorden, utilizando como base a edição de 1633 de seu Discourse of Naurall Bathes and Minerall Waters

Full textIntroduction: People have always believed that events are caused by conspiracies, and approximately half of the population today believe in at least one conspiracy theory. Much psychological research has been devoted to attempting to elucidate the psychological aspects that contribute to our belief in conspiracy theories. However, the results have been variegated and difficult to generalize. Within the field, this heterogeneity has been explained as a result of a lack of experimental studies on the subject, but hitherto no overview has been undertaken to systematically synthesize current empirical research. Aim: The aim of this study was therefore to synthesize and describe the research on the impact of psychological aspects on belief in conspiracy theories. Aside from this general aim, the study sought to answer the following questions: • Which psychological aspects are described in the included studies? • How has belief in conspiracy theories been measured and which conspiracy theories have been examined in the included literature? Method: In line with the above aim and questions, a review was conducted, which included a systematic literature search, screening, and coding. Of 500 identified records, 28 were included in the review. The results of the review were presented narratively. Results: The review of the 28 included articles show that belief in conspiracy theories in toto has been measured in 33 different ways, and that the measures in general contain items regarding specific conspiracy theories. 24 out of 28 studies report a significant effect on at least one psychological aspect. Overall, there are almost as many different psychological aspects in the reviewed literature as there are articles. Conclusion: The empirical research on which psychological aspects that affect belief in conspiracy theories is highly heterogenous, regarding both how it measures effects on conspiracy theories and what conclusions it draws. Thus, the conclusion is that the disparity within the research is not due to the lack of experimental studies; rather, it can be attributed to a lack of a common theoretical framework for conceptualizing and studying the phenomenon.

Syftet med detta arbete är att kartlägga den svenska tränarutbildningen för triathlon och jämföra den med andra länders tränarutbildningar.
- Hur ser den svenska tränarutbildningen ut?
- Hur ser andra länders tränarutbildningar ut?
- Vad finns det för skillnader och likheter mellan tränarutbildningarna?
Metod
Sex länder valdes ut till detta arbete men på grund av bortfall kunde bara fem länder kartläggas. Dessa länder är Sverige, USA, Australien, Storbritannien och Kanada. De länder som inte kunde kartläggas var Nea Zeeland och Sydafrikas tränarutbildningar. Avgränsningen i denna studie är att enbart engelskspråkiga länder har representerats. Samtliga länders tränarutbildningar för triathlon lästes igenom och översattes.
Resultat
I resultatdelen kan vi se att det finns både likheter och skillnader mellan utbildningarna. Bland annat kan vi se att det skiljer en del på de åldersgränser som utbildningarna kräver och under hur många dagar utbildningen löper. Bland likheterna kan vi bland annat se att samtliga länder, förutom Australien, har tre steg i sitt utbildningsupplägg och att antalet timmar lärarledd undervisning är jämbördig mellan länderna.
Slutsats
Det är svårt att dra en slutsats utifrån denna studie om huruvida tränarutbildningarna är grönare, det vill säga bättre, på andra sidan jorden. Däremot tycker jag att det finns väldigt mycket vi i Sverige kan lära oss och ta del av som exempelvis hjärt- och lungräddning som är ett oerhört viktigt livsredskap på samma sätt som andra länder kan ta del av våra kunskaper så som utvärdering och diskussion efter avslutad kurs.

Full textBuilding on the theoretical background, definition of black holes and their general characteristics, I have studied some conditions for the formation of black holes from dying singular stars. The supernova process is described along with the influence on neutron stars by destabilising mechanism such as kaon condensation. Various observations as well as alternative theories are presented for argumentation. From this material I draw the conclusion that black holes can exist in more varieties than has been previously assumed, foremost in the shape of low-massive black holes with masses between 1.5 and 1.8 Msun. Furthermore the possibility to produce microscopic black holes in the LHC accelerator (Large Hadron Collider) at CERN is portrayed, together with the controversies that currently surround this phenomenon and the knowledge that could be won from controlled observations of such objects. The general conclusion here is the unavoidable meeting between particle physics and astrophysics in order to access the deepest insights about the Universe we inhabit.

Full textThe purpose of this study is to investigate how we in the preschool environment can create activities that contribute to action readiness for children, regarding issues related to sustainable development. The study has been performed with participatory observations as the primary method, where image display has been used to introduce and awaken the children's interest in various sustainability issues. The study is based on the children's interest, descriptions and understanding where action-preparatory activities regarding littering have been staged to create awareness for the children.The study rests on the lived-world phenomenological foundation, but also takes root in the socio-cultural theory of children's learning. The study's results have been thematised and show that children's understanding of sustainability issues is extensive. The children describe and relate to the outside world true the phenomena that appear to be important in their world of life, where the norm of right and wrong, human guilt and responsibility is emphasized.

Full textInnan barn börjar skolan bär de med sig olika mycket kunskap och föreställningar. Med hjälp av de erfarenheter de har, försöker de sedan förklara den omvärld de lever i. Som lärare fyller man en viktig roll att hjälpa barnen att få kunskap om den värld de lever i och anpassa undervisningen så att den är uppbyggd efter varje enskild elevs behov. Syftet med denna undersökning var att ta reda på vad 6-åringar har för föreställningar om jorden, solen, månen och stjärnorna. Sex elever har intervjuats, och resultatet visar att ju mer konkret ett ämne är desto mer kunskap och föreställningar har eleverna. I arbetet har författaren också tittat på exempel av vad det finns för faktalitteratur riktad mot elever i denna ålder. Vad innehåller den och hur är de uppbyggda? Slutsatsen av denna undersökning blir således att som lärare är det viktigt att använda mycket konkret material i sin undervisning om rymden och att det finns bra faktalitteratur, med enkel text och lättförståliga bilder, riktad till barn i denna ålder, att ta med i undervisningen.

Also an iconographic study, it compares women in folk-tale illustrations with women represented in fin-de-Siècle art concentrating on the Great mother goddess and the femme fatale, finding similarities between folk-tale illustrations and other art. Besides that, the text look at the interest for Swedish folk-tales in the 1890´s, the connection between women as illustrators of children’s books and ideas about nature and womanhood that might have had influence on the Swedish artist Elsa Beskow at the time.

Full textResilience is an important factor in working with refugees for becoming sustainable in an extremely stressed situation. In this case study, we found which factors within the societal organization and at the individual level that affected the social workers resilience in the work with refugees in Greece. The empirical study consisted of semi-structured interviews with social workers who worked in Greece within NGO’s. The purpose of our master’s thesis is to increase knowledge about what affects the social worker's resilience in complex and difficult situations. The study was based on national and international research, partly on the concept of resilience, and resilience in social work. We used ecological system theory to explain the social workers interaction in different contexts that affected their resilience. The result showed at the individual level that gender, work life and life experience, education, belief, self-care, boundary, self-esteem, protection mechanisms, mindset and characteristics had an impact on the social worker's resilience. At the organization level, it was the division of responsibility within the organization, supporting colleagues at the workplace, supervision and talking about their resilience within the organization, which had an impact on their resilience. The result also showed that if they worked as a volunteer or social worker, it affected the individual’s resilience in different ways. What influenced the social worker's resilience at the societal level was politics and attitudes. The religion in Greece did not affect the social worker’s resilience. The results showed the majority of influence factors that are in line with previous research. Social work is a risky profession and therefore the need to raise awareness of resilience in education is important in order to achieve increased sustainability in social work.

Full textThe aim of this study is to examine marriage as something both desirable and normal in three popular novels from the 1860s about marriage: Rosa Carlén’s Agnes Tell: en äktenskapshistoria (1860), Marie Sophie Schwartz’s Alma eller De moderna äktenskapen (1860) and Sara Pfeiffer’s Aurora Trampe (1867). Using a theoretical perspective from Michel Foucault and Judith Butler, I have analysed the novels as being producers of, and resistance against, norms.
The good marriage is partly depicted as a utopian vision in the novels, which therefore functions as fantasies for the readers. But it is also depicted as a realistic possibility. Though difficult to achieve, the main characters reach the goal through individual improvement towards correct behaviour.
The question for the main characters is not whether they are going to marry or not, but how to make their marriages good ones. Other options than marriage are ignored or described as faulty. At the same time, alternatives and resistance to the description of the good marriage and the roles of husband and wife are shown through distortions and discords. This can reveal the good marriage as a constructed ideal. Failure to conform to the expected roles and people standing outside the marital discourse, are ridiculed and described as deviant; but the mere existence of these failures makes the ideal seem less natural.

The dissertation reflects a study of what pastors in the Mission Covenant Church in Sweden say in their sermons about society and social responsibility and represents an attempt at finding factors such as gender, education, age, values, and faith behind what has been said in the sermons.
The results show that in general pastors have a negative picture of society irrespective of which of its aspects they are addressing. The pastors’ view of Christian responsibility for society is that it is primarily something for the individual to take, not for the congregation. Above all, Christian responsibility for society is about individual Christians' taking responsibility for her fellow human beings.
For theoretical clarification the findings are discussed within the framework of the concept of secularisation, following Casanova (1994) sub-divided into differentiation, decline of religion and privatisation. In the study differentiation is identified when pastors do not relate theological reflection to their description and analysis of society. Thus they do not provide an integrated system of meaning for everyday life. As for privatisation, even when pastors are mainly speaking about public events, they are unable to place those events in a religiously interpreted context. According to the pastors social problems are to be met with private and individual solutions through Christians' actions to the benefit of their fellow men.
The MCC is a part of what in Swedish can be called a popular movement, a kind of "social movement" or "voluntary organisation." The analysis shows that its pastors in their sermons do not embrace some of the central parts of the ideology that generally pertain to popular movements, namely concern with reforming society.

Full textThis essay is a thesis in Information Design with focus on Informative Illustration. The study is in collaboration with the publishing company Natur & Kultur, who’s currently working on a re-design of PULS SO-boken Grundbok, a teaching aid intended for primary school children ages 7–9 years old. In a chapter concerning maps, an explanatory metaphor for the relationship between a globe and a plane world map is added. This forms the basis for the study. Children’s factual literature is usually richly filled with explanatory illustrations as an aid in understanding complex phenomena. The aim of this study is to explore how the metaphor in question can be embodied and explained through various visual narratives, and to investigate how this is received and understood by the target group. Through data collection in the form of interviews and image analyzes, as well as theories of cognition, semiotics and visual narratives, three illustrations were designed that embodied the same metaphor through different visual narratives. Through further interviews with experts and with the target group, lessons were compiled, and a fourth illustration was created as a concretization of the discussion. The result of the study shows that the different visual narratives that were explored gave rise to different conclusions and discussions when tested. Whether there is any narrative that is better than the others is difficult to determine, but a relationship analysis between interview results from the target groups and expert interviews establishes certain advantages of a visual narrative with a well-structured and methodical reading system, smaller sections with text and that all key parts of the text are visually concretized.
