ABSTRAKPengabdian bertujuan untuk media penyampaian informasi terkait tentang literasi teknologi bagi masyarakat. Hal ini sangat penting selain untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat terhadap internet sehat, kegiatan ini juga berupaya untuk meningkatkan kepekaan dan antusiasme masyarakat terhadap masalah-masalah yang kerap muncul pada pelayanan publik. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Desa Nanga Tikan, Kecamatan Kayan Hilir, Kabupaten Sintang, Kalimantan Barat. Sasaran kegiatan PkM ini adalah para perangkat desa dan anggota Karang Taruna (pemuda) yang ada di Desa. Penentuan kriteria khalayak tersebut berdasarkan pengamatan bahwa generasi muda rentang dari umur 17 hingga 35 tahun adalah mereka yang gemar atau secara intensif memanfatkan internet atau sosial media. Bentuk PkM ini penyuluhan dan pelatihan kepada masyarakat tentang pengembangan media sosial. Penyuluhan dan pelatihan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 23 Oktober 2020 di Balai Desa Nanga Tikan dengan model ceramah dan demonstrasi pemanfaatan media sosial (internet). Hasil wawancara dengan kepala desa dan beberapa pemuda desa diperoleh respon sangat baik terhadap kegiatan ini. Hasil angket respon diperoleh hasil 95% dengan kategori sangat senang. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan yaitu sasaran kegiatan sangat puas terhadap pelatihan Journalis warga.Kata Kunci: Pelatihan, Journalis, Literasi, Teknologi, Media. ABSTRACTThe community service aimed to delivering information media related to technology literacy for the community. This is very important in addition to increasing public understanding of a good internet usage, this activity also seeks to increase the sensitivity and enthusiasm of the community towards problems that often arise in public services. The activity was carried out in Nanga Tikan Village, Kayan Hilir District, Sintang District, West Kalimantan. The targets of this PkM activity are village officials and members of the Karang Taruna (youth) in the village.The determination of the audience criteria is based on the observation that the younger generation, ranging from 17 to 35 year old, are those who like or intensively use the internet or social media. This form of PkM provides counseling and training to the community on social media development. Counseling and training was carried out on October 23, 2020 at the Nanga Tikan Village Hall with a lecture and demonstration model of the use of social media (internet). The results of interviews with the village head and several village youth received very good responses to this activity. The results of the response questionnaire were 95% with the very enthusiastic. The conclusion of the activity is that the target of the activity is very satisfied with the citizen journalism training.Keywords: Training, Journalists, Literacy, Technology, Media.

The Ambiente & Água Journal has adopted strategies in recent years to increase its relevance within the international scientific community. The results of CiteScore, recently released for the triennium ending in 2020, indicate that the journal’s strategies are starting to show good results. Evidence of an increase in the proportion between the number of citations received versus the number of documents published is corroborated by the impact indicators from other sources, such as the Scimago Journal Rank (SJR) and Leiden University’s Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) Impact per Publication (IPP). Also positive is the fact that the journal's impact is increasing even with the increase in the number of papers published, contrary to the strategy adopted by some journals that limit the number of papers in order to increase the journal's impact.

This book is a beginners' guide to science journalism, explaining the 21st century journalistic process, from generating story ideas to creating multimedia content when the story's written, taking in research and writing structures along the way. While many of the chapters are introductory, the book also covers topics also likely to be of interest to more experienced writers, such as storytelling techniques and investigative journalism. Readers are introduced to important debates in the field, including the role that science journalism plays; whether it is a form of `infotainment', or whether its primary role is to hold scientists and the science industry to account. Taken as a whole, what the book does particularly well is to introduce prospective science writers to the judgements they need to make as reflective practitioners.

Cet article propose de comparer deux manières d’articuler les univers journalis- tique et universitaire, soit le projet Thought News, conçu par des journalistes et universitaires américains à la fin du XIXe siècle, et The Conversation, un réseau global de sites d’information et de chercheurs universitaires qui est aujourd’hui en pleine ex- pansion. Dans la perspective d’une comparaison historique « à longue portée » envisagée par Marc Bloch (1928) et de la critique de l’histoire whig du journalisme de James Carey (1974), l’analyse situe Thought News et The Conversation dans leur contexte historique particulier en explorant les transformations du journalisme et de la recherche universitaire qui leur sont associées. Pour ce faire, notre analyse prend spécifiquement pour objet des textes pro- grammatiques qui détaillent les projets éditoriaux respectifs de ces initiatives, notamment à travers les métaphores du pipeline et du corps social, et qui formulent des critiques du journalisme et de l’institution universitaire. Cette comparaison permet de nuancer la «nouveauté» de The Conversation mais également d’explorer, à travers le projet Thought News, une conception alternative des rapports entre les univers journalistique et universitaire, ainsi que de la fonction sociale et politique du journalisme, lesquelles s’avèrent actuelles à certains égards. Sur le plan méthodologique et analytique, notre démarche met en lumière la portée heuristique de la comparaison « au plus large » dans le champ de l’histoire des médias et du journalisme, laquelle permet notamment d’entrevoir le caractère discontinu et contingent de cette histoire ainsi que le rôle constitutif du geste historiographique.

Background: Journalism and public relations are two fields that collaborate and compete with each other. Several studies have confirmed this dualism, where both terminologies are interrelated in the same scientific publication. Purpose: This study is aimed to find the interconnection between the two fields in several studies published in international journals. Method: This inquiry applies the bibliometrics method with data sources from the Web of Science and uses VosViewer as an analysis and mapping tool. Results: Results show that the number of keywords containing “public relations” counts more than “journalism.” This study reveals six clusters of keyword mapping that form specific themes: crisis communication management, ethics, professional education, public relations practitioners- journalist relationships, media relations, and publicity scope, news media management, and public relations and the media. Comparing the most cited references from the field of public relations and journalism shows the number 2:2 or equal. There are six most cited authors, four from the USA and two from Australia. Conclusions: The issue of public relations was found more than journalism because most articles are written by experts, especially Americans, and Australians, who have worked in the field of public relations, although some also had early careers in journalism. However, journalism studies were still considered as references for most articles. Implications: The work of western researchers is still at the forefront of the development of public relations science and journalism studies, which becomes a challenge for researchers from developing countries to develop studies more at the international level.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Information and Communications, as of December 2022, the whole country has 127 news agencies; 670 journal agencies (there are 327 journals of political theory and science, 72 journals of literature and art); 72 radio and television agencies. Personnel operating in the field of journalism are about 41,000 people, of which the radio and television sector is approximately 16,500 people. Compared with 2021, personnel is relatively stable and the number of personnel granted journalist cards increases significantly. There have been 19,356 cases of being granted journalist cards. It is easy for the public to check the names of long-term online newspapers and major readers such as “VnExpress,” “Dan Tri,” “Vietnamplus,” “VietNamNet,” etc. The emergence of multimedia journalism is an important step towards shaping the new type of digital storytelling and the future of journalism. In the process of renovation, the Vietnamese press is also gradually transforming and approaching new media products (Long-form/E-Magazine/Megastory) that show long, in-depth stories and multi-purpose writing, photos, audio, video, photographers, etc. According to “Vietnamplus” – a press agency leading this trend, when you first bring this type of work to the public, it is unexpected that these works are received more strongly than other types of media. We use questionnaires to build public perceptions and observations as journalists working for five major online newspapers in Vietnam. The data is taken from in-depth interviews with journalists, editors, editorial staff, and editors-in-chief of five major online newspapers in Vietnam. We choose the sample according to the sampling method of the case. In the context of social media, Vietnam’s online newspapers have developed and changed significantly. These findings will enrich and have a typical impact by clarifying two main contradictions that exist in Vietnam’s online newspapers. Those are conflicts between news products, regular articles and media products, e-magazines, megastory and conflicts in organizations producing online newspapers. From there, the article looks at how Vietnam’s online newspaper is going to grow, how it uses visual reporting, and how excited journalists and press managers are about it.

L’industrie du tourisme a beaucoup évolué et continue de se transformer sous l’effet du numérique, mais aussi sous l’effet des changements sociaux et économiques. L’information destinée aux voyageurs, auparavant produite par les seuls professionnels du métier – les journalistes de voyage – s’est diversifiée. De nouveaux acteurs, comme les blogueurs et les commentateurs des sites de recommandation, sont devenus des sources d’information importantes pour les voyageurs. Nos travaux de recherche se proposent d’explorer les pratiques des auteurs en ligne ainsi que la réception et l’interprétation de leurs écrits par les voyageurs. Des entretiens qualitatifs menés auprès de journalistes, blogueurs et commentateurs producteurs d’informations autour de Paris, éclairent leurs méthodes et pratiques et leur niveau d’adoption ou de rejet des codes traditionnels du journalisme. Dans un second temps, une autre série d’entretiens avec des voyageurs nous ont permis de mettre en évidence les jugements émis par ces « consommateurs » sur les contenus trouvés en ligne. En considérant les motivations de ces internautes, surtout l’aspiration à vivre des expériences « authentiques », les chercheurs peuvent mieux comprendre ce que les voyageurs apprécient. Les résultats suggèrent que les productions des journalistes de voyage, blogueurs et contributeurs participent chacune à leur manière à alimenter l’internaute en information lorsqu’il organise son voyage. Quant aux « consommateurs » de ces articles ou commentaires sur une destination, ils apprécient trouver une variété d’informations. Ces travaux permettent de formuler une conclusion générale au sujet du journaliste de voyage professionnel, dont les écrits ne sont qu’un fragment parmi toute la production d’informations touristiques, à laquelle contribuent également des non-professionnels. Le journalisme de voyage s’avère être un processus riche, au sein duquel différents types d’acteurs évoluent, pour répondre aux besoins des voyageurs-internautesThe travel industry has evolved over the past decades, including social and technological changes that allow more people than ever to cross the globe. Travel journalists working for established media are no longer the sole gatekeepers of information relating to a destination. New authors, including bloggers and commentators on recommendation sites, have become major sources of information for travelers. This project seeks to explore both the practices of these online authors as well as the reception and interpretations of their work by travelers. Qualitative interviews with a sample of journalists, bloggers, and forum contributors in Paris help shed light on how these individuals adhere to notions considered “journalistic” as defined by traditional manuals. The goal is to explore and elaborate a definition of the travel journalist as opposed to non-professional authors. Secondly, through interviews with travelers who plan their trips online, the research aims to understand how consumers prioritize and value the content they find on the internet, especially looking at motivations linked to the idea of discovering authentic experiences abroad. Findings suggest that travel journalists, bloggers, and forum contributors all participate uniquely to the travel planning process, providing different elements. On the reception end, travelers consume many sources during their travel planning, and actively seek various websites and publications for different reasons. The overall conclusion is that travel journalists are just one important yet specific part of the larger process of travel journalism that acts interdependently with non-professional sources to respond to the online traveler’s needs

Dans un contexte d'érosion des ventes, de diminution des recettes publicitaires et de bouleversements induits par les innovations technologiques, cette thèse analyse les récentes évolutions, réelles et ressenties, des conditions d'emploi et de travail des journalistes de la presse quotidienne belge francophone. Son objectif est de comprendre comme les journalistes vivent ces évolutions et, à ce titre, comment elles influencent leur trajectoire professionnelle.Cette thèse se fonde sur une démarche de recherche mixte, associant des instruments quantitatifs et qualitatifs. Elle commence par la présentation des résultats d'une large enquête quantitative conduite auprès des journalistes belges titulaires de la carte de presse. Cette partie apporte de nombreuses données sur les profils, les situations d'emploi et les conditions de travail du groupe journalistique. Par ailleurs, elle met en évidence le regard porté par les journalistes à l'égard des changements qui traversent leur métier. Étudier les évolutions des conditions d'emploi et de travail nécessitait la mise en œuvre d'une approche socio-historique et inductive :cette thèse s'est dès lors centrée sur l'étude d'une grande entreprise de presse belge. Elle s'est employée à retracer l'histoire des relations de travail du quotidien de référence Le Soir depuis la fin des années 1990 à 2013. Cette approche met en lumière les logiques managériales qui sous-tendent ces évolutions et la manière dont les différents acteurs de l'entreprise y réagissent. Enfin, cette recherche repose également sur des entretiens biographiques conduits auprès de journalistes qui travaillent ou qui ont travaillé pour le journal Le Soir au cours de la période étudiée. Ces entretiens permettent d'appréhender les principales dynamiques qui fondent les trajectoires professionnelles dans le but de comprendre comment celles-ci sont influencées par les transformations intervenues au sein du journal.Les mutations récentes des conditions d'emploi et de travail des journalistes du quotidien Le Soir ont entrainé de profonds bouleversements identitaires pour les journalistes qui sont de plus en plus confrontés à des tensions entre leur identification au groupe professionnel, leur appartenance au milieu organisationnel et leur trajectoire individuelle. Journalism plays an important role in our society. But what happens when a journalist decides to pursue a new profession? The loss of a journalist from a newsroom can have a significant impact, particularly when that journalist takes with them institutional knowledge and a history of the market. This study uses qualitative interviews with 12 former broadcast journalists to investigate what factors cause them to leave the field and what the implications are for the industry. Relying on burnout theory as a framework, this study reveals three key reasons broadcast journalists decided to walk away. First, they faced increasing demands including long or unconventional work hours, a tenuous work-life balance, difficult stories to cover, and doing more with fewer resources. Second, they endured difficult issues with management including unfulfilled promises, the increasing commercialization of news, unrealistic and unethical expectations, the consolidation of the industry, and a lack of appreciation. Third, they felt they were not adequately compensated. This study recommends more support and professional development for broadcast journalists, more cross-training opportunities, and improved financial compensation.

This research is concerned with the curriculum in an area of professional education, that of journalism. Competing concepts of journalism and journalism education exist which have led to variety and some confusion in the structure and content of educational programmes. The research investigates the beliefs and values underlying the two main undergraduate degree programmes in journalism in Ireland, at Dublin City University and the Dublin Institute of Technology, with the aim of gaining a better understanding of the issues involved. The study is set in the context of the more general debates on journalism education and professional education. As the topic is to do with meaning and language, a discourse analysis approach was used, specifically the method of critical discourse analysis developed in the work of Fairclough. This approach entails a comprehensive, multi-layered analysis starting from a small amount of data or core texts. The data used were documents. The brief published descriptions of the two courses served as the core texts; the analysis of which was further tested through examining documents detailing the course modules and course rationale. The third layer of analysis looked at the usage of the concepts in texts from the wider journalistic and educational contexts in which the courses were developed. Discrepancies were found in the concepts of journalism and journalism education within and between the texts at the different levels of analysis. There were differences in the perception of journalism as distinct from or part of the media in general, differences in the nuances attached to its role, and differences as to whether its status is that of a profession. The two curricula studied exemplify the two common journalism education models which are difficult to place within the conventional models of professional education. The findings of the study are discussed in so far as they have implications for practice.

This work uses grounded theory methodology to develop a theory of the Internet's influences upon journalism and its implications for journalism education. It sets out to address research questions asking what journalists' and educators' electronic discussions reveal about the influences of the Internet upon journalism and what the implications of this might be for journalism education. Sub-questions ask how the Internet's influences upon journalism might be categorised and, further, ask what new tasks and practices journalists have adopted in their work as a result of the use of the Internet.
The literature review reveals scholarship in the field has developed rapidly during the course of the study, however while much of the research has targeted specific ·phenomena in the journalism I Internet I education interface, there has been a dearth of literature attempting to synthesise the three in a holistic theorybuilding exercise such as this. Certainly, there have been no attempts to use a grounded theory approach to the analysis of electronic discussion list data in building such theory.
The data upon which the analysis is based are the discussions about journalism practice and journalism education on four electronic discussion lists during a nine week period in 1997. The 1217 messages posted to the lists were sorted according to their relevance to the research questions and the 629 messages selected were coded and sorted using the NUD.IST qualitative research software and analysed in accordance with grounded theory procedures recommended by Strauss (1987) and Strauss and Corbin (1990).
The study illustrates that the Internet has had a major influence upon journalism which has important implications for journalism education. The thesis presents a descriptive categorisation of the Internet's influences upon journalism. The Internet's actual influences upon journalism are identifiable and numerous, and include 169 new journalistic tasks and practices. The influences are so profound in some respects that they force a re-evaluation of journalism and its purpose.
The influences of the Internet upon the context in which journalism is practised and upon the practice of journalism are momentous. They represent the emergence of an endeavour which, while retaining many of the characteristics of journalism as it has been known, is too fragmented, multi-dimensional and multi-purposed to continue to be classified as such, a notion which has profound implications for journalism education and necessitate a review of its aims and practices. The term "Multi-Journalism" has been coined to describe this new manifestation of journalism as an occupation.
Numerous opportunities for further research have been identified, covering all three domains addressed in the thesis: the context in which journalism is practised, the practice itself, and the implications of Internet influences for journalism education.

Today’s journalism students are learning in a time in which new technology innovations, including online news sites, blogs, and social media, have become a prominent part of the journalism industry. Whether it’s newspapers, public relations, or broadcast, technology has become a part of every area of journalism. While several studies have focused on how journalism classes should be taught in lieu of this change, how students are learning and how they feel about this changing industry has yet to be shared. This research uses both a survey of 203 current, undergraduate pre-journalism students at a large, Southwestern university, as well as focus group interviews with several subgroups of 11 of those students. The results show, not surprisingly, that journalism students are heavy users of technology and social media. They also show that a majority of journalism students prefers consuming media online. However, although students use technology and social media frequently, and also consume media online, there is evidence that suggests that they would rather learn face-to-face with an instructor than take online classes. In addition, they feel positive about their future in the changing industry.

As one of the most popular social media platforms in China, Sina Weibo has created an environment for the Chinese people to share opinions and post information on events they have witnessed. Thus, Weibo users can be citizen journalists, though most of them have played the role unconsciously. Although Weibo has existed for about six years, citizen journalism is still new to most Chinese people. Some scholars have studied Weibo from the perspective of public opinion or better governance rather than from its ethical demands and influence. This paper discusses the ethical problems of citizen journalism that arose in three case studies where Weibo posts were immediate sources of news and information on disasters and were considered important by mainstream media and the public, but where the posts also provided false information. In addition, a survey found that most Chinese respondents had posted news or information on Weibo, but very few consider themselves citizen journalists. Surprisingly, non-journalists are no more likely to trust citizen journalism than are journalists. Non-journalists are getting more news from citizen journalism on Weibo about national disasters, but they put more trust and credibility in mainstream media. Respondents thought witnessing events and quickly reporting on them were the biggest advantages of citizen journalists, while the biggest problems were bias, emotional reports, rumor and invasion of privacy. About two-thirds of respondents think self-restraint is the best way to handle ethical problems resulting from citizen journalists, but about half favor more legislation. In a striking difference from Western expectations, a relatively small percentage of Chinese respondents think independence from the government is an important journalistic value. Finally, the paper concludes that the public sphere concept is relevant in China in the wake economic reforms and the advent of social media. And it argues that the theory of existential journalism may offer an ethical guide for China’s citizen journalists by emphasizing both freedom and personal responsibility. Finally it suggests that mainstream media, journalists and media scholars play the main role of promoting journalistic ethical values on Weibo.

The uprising which shook France in May 1968 also had a revolutionary effect on the country’s most prominent film journal. Under editors Jean-Louis Comolli and Jean Narboni, Cahiers du cinéma embarked on a militant turn that would govern the journal's work over the next five years. Inspired by Marxist and psychoanalytic theory, the "red years" of Cahiers du cinéma produced a theoretical outpouring that was seminal for the formation of film studies and is still of vital relevance for the contemporary audiovisual landscape. The Red Years of Cahiers du Cinéma (1968-1973) gives an overview of this period in the journal’s history and its aftermath, combining biographical accounts of the critics who wrote for Cahiers in the post 1968 period with theoretical explorations of their key texts.

AbstractCancer research is needed in the Arab world to provide evidence to healthcare workers and health policy makers. This chapter examines the literature on cancer research productivity in the Arab world, and the output of the 22 countries with respect to the number of publications, main types of cancers studied and top journals that researchers aim to publish their findings in. Although the Arab region is lagging in its cancer research output, it is reassuring that productivity has been on the rise in the last decade. There are great variations between countries in their contribution to cancer research, with Egypt and Saudi Arabia contributing the most and sub-Saharan Arab countries the least. Breast cancer is the most researched cancer in the Arab countries, overshadowing other leading cancers. The top journals that researchers published their work in are the Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention, Pan African Medical Journal, Saudi Medical Journal, Tunisie Medicale, the Gulf Journal of Oncology and the Journal of the Egyptian National Cancer Institute. The last two occupied the fifth rank equally. All these journals are Q3 journals except for the first, which is a Q2 journal. The challenges and barriers facing researchers in the Arab world should be examined and sources of cancer research funding expanded. Collaborations with researchers in international academic institutions should be encouraged to improve the quantity and quality of cancer research.

AbstractThis chapter examines the difficult conditions Nigerian journalists faced while reporting during the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on the threats and dangers faced by Nigerian broadcast journalists and its implication for journalism practice amid a pandemic. Using a qualitative approach, we conducted nine in-depth interviews (online) with broadcast journalists in 2020 and employed thematic analysis to address the study’s findings. The study found that the safety threats encountered by journalists during the COVID-19 outbreak include the risk of contracting the virus, financial insecurity, and emotional trauma, among others. To combat these safety threats, journalists were responsible for their safety; hence, they ensured adherence to safety protocols with little or no support from the media houses they worked for. The implication of these safety threats to journalism practice includes reduced work output, reduced dissemination of factual reports, low-quality stories, and the lack of in-depth and investigative news reports during the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.

Despite of its many limitations, the Journal Impact Factor (JIF) is widely used to evaluate research institutions and individual researchers. Using references from 41 German medical guidelines we show that clinical relevance as assessed by guideline authors is uncorrelated to the JIF suggesting that a journal’s clinical relevance is independent of its JIF. As a consequence, evaluations solely relying on the JIF end up under-valuing clinically important research. We therefore propose a Guideline Impact Factor (GLIF) quantifying the relevance of journals for medical guideline development as an independent quality criterion for journals.

Editorial membership makes an important stage of the academic career; hence, this requires careful bibliometric examination of editor researchers’ publication strategies. We examine the popular approaches of editors-in-chief toward publications by their editorial board members’ in the parent journal, in the range from encouragement to prohibition. Using a sample of Russian library and information science journals, we demonstrate that the publication models of editorial board members depend on the journal’s rank.

The paper addresses the question why people are entering training programs which disseminate knowledge necessary for becoming part of the journalistic profession and how these motives go along with the intention to become a member of the profession. Therefore it draws on data collected among students in journalism related programs in Austria in 2015 (n=352) and tests the linkage between socioeconomic background of the students, their motives for entering a program and how these affect the intention to work in the field of journalism. Factor analysis allowed the identification of four main motives: political and social agency; employment driven; social benefits; and calling/talent. Results show that a) motives for entering a program differ according to the socioeconomic background of the respondents. And b) the intention to work in the field is higher if motives tied to the ideas of agency and calling are reported and lower if employment driven motives are predominant. This leads to the conclusion that the motivation of students to join the journalistic profession is deeply related to believes and normative aspirations of individuals.

Aim/Purpose: Labeling a journal as “predatory” can do great damage to the journal and the individuals that have contributed to it. This paper considers whether the predatory classification has outlived its usefulness and what might replace it. Background: With the advent of open access publishing, the term “predatory” has increasingly been used to identify academic journals, conferences, and publishers whose practices are driven by profit or self-interest rather than the advancement of science. Absent clear standards for determining what is predatory and what is not, concerns have been raised about the misuse of the label. Methodology: Mixed methods: A brief review of the literature, some illustrative case studies, and conceptual analysis. Contribution: The paper provides recommendations for reducing the impact of illegitimate journals. Findings: Current predatory classifications are being assigned with little or no systematic research and virtually no accountability. The predatory/not predatory distinction does not accommodate alternative journal missions. Recommendations for Researchers: The distinction between legitimate and illegitimate journals requires consideration of each journal’s mission. To serve as a useful guide, a process akin to that used for accrediting institutions needs to be put in place. Impact on Society: Avoiding unnecessary damage to the careers of researchers starting out. Future Research: Refining the initial classification scheme proposed in the paper. The article is dedicated to the investigation of blogging platforms as information and communication arenas during wartime. It analyzes the media activities of citizen journalists as a crucial component of the overall information landscape in Ukraine, outlining the peculiarities of their work, the specifics of information dissemination, and the prospects for the development of citizen journalism as a whole. The advantages and disadvantages of citizen journalism are highlighted. Journalism is one of the most dynamic spheres of our existence, and the information space in Ukraine has undergone significant changes since the full-scale war. The development of technological tools always transforms journalism, elevating it to new levels of possibilities. The use of modern blogging platforms, widely accessible not only to professional journalists but also to activists, has contributed to powerful changes in the information sector. Citizen journalism during the Russo-Ukrainian war has taken on entirely different dimensions than before, prompting new reflections on the role of citizen journalists. This expands the scope of the researched issue, from ethical considerations and adherence to journalistic standards to understanding the safety of information activities for both journalists and humanity as a whole. Not every blogger can be called a citizen journalist. The crucial characteristic of citizen journalism, as opposed to mere blogging, is self-awareness, active social action, dedication to an idea, drawing attention to a problem, lobbying for public interests, and serving the function of public control. In the article were examined the activities of citizen journalists, who meet professional standards and exemplify citizen journalism. These include Ihor Lachenkov, Serhiy Sternenko, and Kostyantyn Liberov. Their blogging platforms and social networks were analysed, their content characterised, and posting frequency assessed. The activities of citizen journalists become most in-demand when media representatives cannot capture an event promptly at a particular moment. Citizen journalists find it easier to disseminate information through blogging platforms and social media, especially considering the tremendous trust these platforms enjoy. Survey results illustrate the colossal trust in these platforms. When asked, «What mass media tools did citizens use to get news in 2022?» the responses were as follows: 1. Social networks – 74%, 2. News websites – 42%, 3. Television – 36%, Radio – 11%, Print media – 3%. We observe a trend in the Ukrainian information space where some bloggers position themselves as citizen journalists, even though they previously did not have such a pronounced civic position. This trend became particularly evident at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine when influencers started using their blogs to inform their audience about the events in Ukraine, mobilizing them for active volunteer actions and resisting enemy challenges. It is only partially designed for the growing needs of editorial teams, and there is an urgent need for systemic reform of the entire higher education and journalism higher education as a separate segment. It has been proven that the Ukrainian information business in printed, broadcast and network formats is not a type of classical type of business, as it does not develop according to market, competitive principles that provide for profitability and economic independence, but is actually unprofitable, low-profit and subsidized. The article analyzes the process of preparation and features of conducting interviews with persons who have fased traumatic experiences in war conditions. A comparative analysis of the typical interview and sensitive interview is presented, which allows journalists to comply with all requirements that would not harm interviewees and preserve the balance in the journalist-guest-audience triad. The essence of the new terminology that began to be used in Ukraine during the full-scale war – «journalism of trauma» and «collective trauma» – is revealed. Emphasis is put on society’s ability to experience and make sense of collective trauma through the stories of individuals told in sensitive interviews. Sensitive content is significant during the war, because through human stories and personal testimonies, the world gets an idea of horrors, so one can feel the fullness of this tragic stage in the country’s history. Russia’s war against Ukraine significantly changed the working conditions of journalists, because the need to cover tragic events (murders, rapes, shelling, destruction) forced media representatives to study new rules of communication. Sensitive interviews require more thorough preparation, often even contradicting the established rules that editorial offices have used for years. Reliving the trauma and strong emotions during such interviews can help society form a new experience if the interview is conducted properly, or retraumatize if the journalist has neglected important rules. Ukrainian interviewers gain this unique practice for world journalism every day, which makes scientific research relevant and necessary. Professor M. Zhytaryuk’s review is about a book scientific novelty – a monograph by Professor M. Tymoshyk «Ukrainian journalism in the diaspora: Great Britain. Monograph. K.: Our culture and science, 2020. 500 p. – il., Them. pok., resume English, German, Polish.». Well-known scientist and journalism critic, Professor M. S. Tymoshyk, wrote a thorough work, which, in terms of content, is a combination of a monograph, a textbook and a scientific essay. This book can be useful for both students and practicing journalists or anyone interested in the history of the Ukrainian diaspora, Ukrainian journalism and Ukrainian culture. The author dedicated his work to Stepan Yarmus from Winnipeg, Canada – archpriest, journalist, editor, professor. As the epigraph to the book were taken the words of Ivan Bagryany: «Our press, born under the sword of Damocles of repatriation», not only survived and survived to this day, but also showed a brilliant ability to grow and develop. It was shown that beggars that had come to the West without money at heart can and know how to act so organized. It was also an example of how a modern «enbolshevist» and «denationalized» by the occupier man person is capable of a combined mass action».

The article is dedicated to theoretical understanding of the problem of development and protection of the rights of foreign and domestic journalists. The modern reality of journalistic activity, including the full scale russian aggression, was highlighted. The activities of foreign journalists that come to Ukraine to shoot and write materials to inform their audience with the current situation were carefully studied and analyzed. But on the other hand, the presence of different foreign press agencies in Ukraine can cause harm to national security, because information provided by foreign journalists can be used by hostiles in their criminal deeds. The harsh situation with journalists’ rights is proved by reports about targeting press-labelled cars, assassinations and burglarizing of journalists on annexed territory. War in Ukraine became the first precedent when occupational army prevent press associations to shoot and report crimes they commit there. Materials and photos provided by Ukrainian and foreign journalists do not only give emotional and information pictures to readers and the public, but also are used in courts for persecution. Because of systematic violation of journalists’ rights by russian forces, they demand an eager change of European and national law to punish criminals and increase responsibility for their crimes. Today demand on information is high. One can say that the most precious thing and one of the most valuable goods is information. The main priority today is the rights of journalists their safety Problematic issues of journalistic activity in today’s conditions are highlighted as destabilizing factors in the protection of journalists’ rights. The subject of the study is the cooperation of S. Efremov with Western Ukrainian periodicals as a page in the history of Ukrainian journalism which covers the relationship of journalists and scientists of Eastern and Western Ukraine at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. Research methods (biographical, historical, comparative, axiological, statistical, discursive) develop the comprehensive disclosure of the article. As a result of scientific research, the origins of Ukrainocentrism in the personality of S. Efremov were clarified; his person as a public figure, journalist, publisher, literary critic is multifaceted; taking into account the specifics of the memoir genre and with the involvement of the historical context, the turning points in the destiny of the author of memoirs are interpreted, revealing cooperation with Western Ukrainian magazines and newspapers. The publications ‘Zoria’, ‘Narod’, ‘Pravda’, ‘Bukovyna’, ‘Dzvinok’, are secretly got into sub-Russian Ukraine, became for S. Efremov a spiritual basis in understanding the specifics of the national (Ukrainian) mass media, ideas of education in culture of Ukraine at the end of XIX century, its territorial integrity, and state independence. Memoirs of S. Efremov on cooperation with the iconic Galician journals ‘Notes of the Scientific Society after the name Shevchenko’ and ‘Literary-Scientific Bulletin’, testify to an important stage in the formation of the author’s worldview, the expansion of the genre boundaries of his journalism, active development as a literary critic. S. Yefremov collaborated most fruitfully and for a long time with the Literary-Scientific Bulletin, and he was impressed by the democratic position of this publication. The author’s comments reveal a long-running controversy over the publication of a review of the new edition of Kobzar and thematically related discussions around his other literary criticism, in which the talent of the demanding critic was forged. S. Efremov steadfastly defended the main principles of literary criticism: objectivity and freedom of author’s thought. The names of the allies of the Ukrainian idea L. Skochkovskyi, O. Lototskyi, O. Konyskyi, P. Zhytskyi, M. Hrushevskyi in S. Efremov’s memoirs unfold in multifaceted portrait descriptions and function as historical and cultural facts that document the pages of the author’s biography, record his activities in space and time. The results of the study give grounds to characterize S. Efremov as the first professional Ukrainian-speaking journalist.

The article analyzes transformation of forms of degrees of comparison of adjectives in live television broadcasting. Particular attention is paid to the specific properties of different forms of degrees of comparison of adjectives. To analyze the peculiarities of their use for errors in speech of television journalists, associated with non-compliance with linguistic norms on ways to avoid these errors, to make appropriate recommendations to television journalists. The main method we use is to observe the speech of live TV journalist, we used during the study methods of comparative analysis of comparison of theoretical positions from the work of individual linguists and journalism sat down as well as texts that sounded in the speech of journalists. Our objective is to trace these transformations and develop a certain attitude towards them in our researches of the language of the media and practicing journalists to support positive trends in the development of the broadcasting on TV and give recommendations for overcoming certain negative trends. Improving the live broadcasting of television journalists, in particular the work on deepening the language skills will contribute to the modernization of some trends in the reasonable expediency of the transformation of certain phenomena, modernization of some tendencies concerning the reasonable expedient transformation of separate grammatical phenomena and categories and at braking and in general stopping of processes of transformation of negative unreasonable not expedient. This fully applies primarily to attempts to transform the forms of degrees of comparison of adjectives and this explains importance of the results achieved in these study.

The article analyzes some theoretical and practical aspects of creativity. The author shares his opinion that the concept of creativity belongs to the fundamental concepts of philosophy, psychology, literature, art, pedagogy. Creativity is one of the important concepts of the theory of journalism. The author does not agree with the extended definition of creativity. He believes that journalistic activity becomes creativity when it is free and associated with the creation and establishment of new national and universal values, with the highest intensity of intellectual and moral strength of the journalist, when journalism is a manifestation of civic position, when this activity combines professional skills and perfect literary form.The author also believes that literary skill and the skill of a journalist are not identical concepts, because literary skill is a component of journalistic skill.
