Trach, Maria S. "A Q-study of the effects of Novy Kanal reporters' gender on their preferences in coverage of gender neutral issues." Virtual Press, 2003. http://liblink.bsu.edu/uhtbin/catkey/1272771.

Full text
Abstract:
It has been established that regardless of the fact that journalism in not a one-gender- profession anymore, news is still defined from a male perspective. A number of studies through the years examined the news content and determined that it continued male.Though news veterans acknowledge significant changes in m coming of women to the newsrooms, those changes sometimes are hard to detect on the personal level. Male and female reporters claim that even though gender can affect their approach to reporting, the final product they produce does not have gender marked on it. The present Q study is examined whether gender has an influence on reporter’s preferences in choosing a topic while covering gender-neutral issues. The participants of the study were 17 employees of the major Ukrainian TV channel "Novy Kanal.” In February of 2003 they were e-mailed 50 story ideas (constructed to include either two of five news values, such as magnitude, conflict, oddity, prominence and impact) and asked them to sort them according to their desire to cover these topics. Fourteen journalists and three editors responded. In May 2003 the sorts were analyzed with the PQMethod program, and three factors emerged representing three groups of people (Maximalists, Conservatives and Commoners) with different attitudes toward gender-neutral issues. The Maximalists, the largest group consisted only of reporters, were a sensation-oriented group of people. Magnitude and conflict were the most important news values for this factor. The Conservatives were characterized by the strong inclination towards official news, where conflict and impact played an important role. The Commoners preferred the human interest stories with oddity and impact. Each group consisted of an even number of men and women, and thus the study failed to support the notion that males and females share different attitudes toward neutral issues. No discrimination was evident toward women stories on the “Navy Kanal” TV channel. Surprisingly, men were more likely than women to choose active participants or acted as newsmakers. The findings suggested that it is women who are creating problems for the feminist movement, not men. Women correspondents at "Novy Kanal" are more immersed in patriarchal values than their male colleagues.<br>Department of Journalism

Thesis, Paris 2, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012PA020035.

Full text
Abstract:
This study is an exploratory research on a topic that has been slightly studied empirically. What are the issues of “professional ethics” and “deontology” amongst French journalists? What do they have to say? What problems are they confronted with? What is the role of chief editors? Because of increased competition, the concentration of press ownership, new technologies and other factors, “ethics” has now become a central issue in journalism. The thesis is, above all, a content analysis of journalists’ points of view, as recorded in some 100 face to face interviews of journalists in the generalist, private and public French press, newspapers and broadcasters. Participant observation was also a key methodology: some 10 quite lengthy internships in several media were done. Furthermore, the thesis analyses some 20 charters and codes of ethics and conducted a brief enquiry within schools of journalism. The thesis shows that ethics is now an absolutely central issue and that journalists (and their ombudsmen) have a very good will to cope with this new situation. Yet more, the thesis also shows the difference in the concrete practices of various medias, the incapacity of journalism schools to teach ethics, the extreme importance of the attitudes of the main editors, as well as sometimes the difficulties of journalists to cope with some pressures and dilemmas. One major issue for the future is to make the written charters and codes, press governance and journalistic practices more coherent

Low, Marcus. "Wild west science reporting : pitfalls and ethical issues in the reporting of frontier sciences." Thesis, Stellenbosch : Stellenbosch University, 2003. http://hdl.handle.net/10019.1/49806.

Abstract:
Thesis (MPhil) -- Stellenbosch University, 2003.<br>ENGLISH ABSTRACT: When reporting on new research or claims by scientists, the science journalist faces a number of pitfalls. For a number of reasons the journalist might produce a story which is inaccurate or misleading. Thus, when a scientist claims to have found a cure for cancer, the journalist needs to check himself before delivering the story. In this paper I will examme a number of issues concerning the reporting of frontier science, or new research. In this realm it is particularly difficult to distinguish more reliable science from less reliable science. The problem is compounded by the vested interests of scientists, pharmaceutical companies and other interest groups. What the science journalist writes, influences public opinion, conceptions about science, and often affects people's decision-making regarding medical issues. There is thus a clear ethical aspect to science reporting. I will try to show that an understanding of how science works is crucial to reporting science responsibly. In this regard the distinction between frontier and textbook science is of particular importance. Theoretical distinctions such as these provide useful tools for the interpretation of claims from the frontier. The first chapter, then, will deal with theoretical concepts pertaining to how SCIence works. In the second we will examine a number of examples of how reporting from the frontiers can go wrong. We will argue that a better understanding of science might have prevented many of the inaccuracies and misleading claims examined. In chapter three we will attempt to list what can go wrong, and examine some of the possible consequences, thus outlining the ethical aspect of science reporting. Finally we will make a few suggestions and outline some guidelines which might contribute to more accurate and responsible reporting from the frontiers.<br>AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Wanneer daar oor nuwe navorsing of aansprake deur wetenskaplikes berig moet word, word die wetenskapsverslaggewer gekonfronteer deur 'n aantal moontlike slaggate.

Abstract:
Thesis (MPhil)--University of Stellenbosch, 2001.<br>ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The aim and function of this paper is to provide a balanced account of how the media, international and South African, have dealt with the issue of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). A selection of interviews, presentations, articles, transcripts and published reports forms the background of this interpretation, and offers insight into the history of the technology, the major role players, the legislation required and implemented, the question of environmental accountability, and the power of the media's influence. It addresses aspects of the causal relationship between the media and public understanding, and the subsequent power of the consumer as manifested by the perception of risk. The central theme of genetic engineering conjures up a variety of meanings and applications, and the plethora of available information is evaluated in an attempt to develop informed understanding for reporters covering the many dimensions of this development within the arena of science and technology.<br>AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Die doel van hierdie verhandeling is om 'n ewewigtige oorsig te verstrek van hoe die media - Suid-Afrikaans sowel as internasionaal - die kwessie van geneties gemodifiseerde organismes gehanteer het. Full text
Abstract:
This thesis examines the portrayal of the problems and issues of the inner city by an Independent Television Company across its factual programming over an eight year period from 1982 to 1989. Following a critical review of existing mass communications' literature an intermediate level of analysis and theorisation is secured which, recognising the explanatory contributions won by competing approaches, nonetheless identifies a significant theoretical lacuna in their midst. This concerns the deliberate pursuit of established programme forms by professional journalists and programme makers and which are reproduced as a 'known result*. The portrayal of the inner city is examined in terms of substantive content, access, forum and means of communication at both 'reading' and 'production' stages of empirical analysis. Essentially the study attends to the interpretative 'resources and accounts' found within this inner city portrayal and placed within the public domain as well as the characteristic, and impacting properties of the medium'. Following an extensive 'reading', including an examination of the characteristic forms, subject interests and relational appeals of established programmes genres, as well as substantive inner city news and riot coverage across different factual programmes and employing a variety of quantitative and qualitative reading methods, the study turns to an examination of professional practices within the production and institutional domains. Participant observation, semi~structured interviews and a number of in-depth case studies are used to complement the findings elicited at the 'reading' stage. Professional practices are examined to the extent that they enact and reproduce on a daily basis established interests and properties of the regional news programme. Finally the thesis situates the analysis within the wider and changing institutional context already found to impact upon the limited and characteristic forms of inner city portrayal.

Abstract:
The 2016 presidential election in USA was extraordinary from several point of views and the election was majorly covered by swedish media. The aim of this research was to examine how Swedish newspapers portrayed Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump from a gender perspective during the 2016 presidential election. We also wanted to analyse how other common political news frames were used to portray Clinton and Trump.   This is a qualitative framing analysis of 14 strategically selected articles, seven that were published by Aftonbladet and seven by Dagens Nyheter. The results showed tendencies of several gendered stereotypes that are being retained by the frames the newspapers use. Frames such as gendered traits and gendered issue emphases, but also game frames were offered to the reader.   We discovered that Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter offered a more positive opinion of Clinton than of Trump. While Clinton was framed as an experienced, emotional and compassionate candidate, Trump was framed as an inexperienced, insensitive and aggressive candidate. Clinton was framed with gendered issue emphases in both the public and private sphere, while Trump was framed with gendered issue emphases in only the public sphere. Furthermore, game frames showed that the newspapers had a tendency of polarizing and personifying the candidates.

Haque, Ashfara. "The role of a newspaper in an advocacy campaign to save Dhaka’s rivers in Bangladesh." Thesis, Edith Cowan University, Research Online, Perth, Western Australia, 2015. https://ro.ecu.edu.au/theses/1716.

Full text
Abstract:
Four major rivers that flow around Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, are threatened by human activities that have caused them to seriously decline. This situation has become a significant concern for both Dhaka’s inhabitants and for environmentalists. River-related issues have become controversial and contentious, and have started to receive public attention. Nowadays the newspapers of Bangladesh frequently cover river issues, including the protection of rivers. The Daily Star, the leading national English-language newspaper of Bangladesh, has in the last few years advocated for tougher actions against river grabbing, encroaching, waste dumping and sand filling. In extending the range of its coverage on river-related issues, The Daily Star employed a shift from environmental journalism to a wider-ranging environmental media advocacy campaign. On 1 June 2009 the newspaper formally launched a media campaign called “Nodi Banchao Dhaka Banchao” (“Save Rivers, Save Dhaka”), aiming to raise public awareness and influence the government’s policy-making. It has been more than five years since this campaign began. In response to the campaign, the government of Bangladesh became concerned and has started a number of initiatives, but, in reality, there has been no major change in the condition of the rivers. The attempts by The Daily Star to advocate for protecting rivers drew public attention and also mobilised public opinion. This research discusses the role of a newspaper in raising public awareness through an advocacy campaign. Through this campaign, the newspaper became a platform for the government, environmental pressure groups and activists to engage with the public to work together to save Dhaka’s major rivers. This ongoing media advocacy campaign provides a unique case study. Applying the method of content analysis, this research takes a closer look at The Daily Star’s “Save Rivers, Save Dhaka” campaign, and also attempts to understand public perception of the effectiveness of this media-driven environmental advocacy precedent.

Abstract:
A content analysis of 36 newspapers in 12 states were examined to determine if balanced reporting of pesticide and water issues existed in 1995. There were two hypotheses explored in this study: One, that journalists tend to bias their reporting of pesticide and water issues by using more mentions from environmental groups than other sources; and two, that journalists tend to bias their reporting by using more negative terminology than positive terminology when reporting on pesticide and water issues. An on-line search using the Lexis-Nexis newspaper database produced 302 usable articles for this study. The number of mentions of environmental groups, government agencies and agri-industry officials were listed in coding sheets. Also, negative versus positive terminology was coded.A chi-square analysis of coded data derived from the selected articles demonstrated that journalists use a balance of sources when reporting on pesticide and water issues. However the analysis also shows that journalists frequently use more negative terminology, such as "toxic," or "contaminated," than positive when writing about pesticide and water issues.Recommendations at the end of this study are made to help reporters understand more thoroughly the definitions of some of the terminology they use in writing about pesticide and water issues.<br>Department of Journalism

"A critical inquiry into the absence of a gender equality discourse in the coverage of the land redistribution issue in two Zimbabwean newspapers, The Daily News and The Herald, between 01 February and 30 June 2000." Abstract:
The media, which help define what we think and our roles in the society, have a crucial role to project both men and women’s issues so as to change people’s perceptions and stereotypes about the role men and women play in the society. There is need, therefore, to ensure gender equality in the operations of the media so that issues to do with both men and women get adequate and equal coverage. This study on the reportage of the land redistribution exercise in Zimbabwe has, however, exposed the gendered nature of the operations of the media, particularly in the news production process. It provides that, overally, the news discourse is a masculine narrative whose androcentric form is a result of, and is protected by, claims to ‘objectivity,’ ‘professionalism’, ‘impartiality’ and the pursuit of a journalistic routine system that hegemonically prioritises men’s issues over those of women. The situation, as the research shows, has not been helped by journalists’ incapacity to do thematic appreciation of issues and their over-inclination towards a simplistic event-based journalism that fails to question policies as they are enacted and implemented in gender-skewed processes. The lack of gender policies, the operations of patriarchy and the pursuit of a journalistic routine system that sees nothing wrong with the ostracisation of women issues are very fundamental findings that the research uses in its attempts to explain why the gender equality discourse was left out of the news reports about the land reform exercise in Zimbabwe.

Geloğullari, Gülin. "Female Friendship Films: A Post-Feminist Examination of Representations of Women in the Fashion Industry." Thesis, University of North Texas, 2015. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc848090/.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis focuses on three fashion industry themed female friendship films: Pret-a-Porter/Ready to Wear (1994) by Robert Altman, The Devil Wears Prada (2006) by David Frankel, and The September Issue (2009) by R.J. Cutler. Female interpersonal relationships are complex – women often work to motivate, encourage and transform one another but can just as easily use tactics like intimidation, manipulation, and exploitation in order to save their own jobs and reputations. Through the lens of post-feminist theory, this thesis examines significant female interpersonal relationships in each film to illustrate how femininity is constructed and driven by consumer culture in the fashion industry themed films.

Abstract:
碩士<br>國立臺灣藝術大學<br>廣播電視學系<br>99<br>As the news report has become more and more entertaining, superficial, and even commercial, its main purpose, which enables people to know about the real world by going through the news, has therefore been neglected. By reviewing the theory of the New Journalism in the 60s, this present study is to explore whether the proponents of the New Journalism would approach to the reality in news report better than those of the traditional ones since the New Journalism has a totally different point of view about the reality agendas in news report, and also provides different forms and writing procedures from the traditional ones. Documentary analysis, text analysis and discourse analysis are applied in the present study to explore the forms and writing procedures used in the New Journalism and also the issue of the reality. The findings of the present study are as follows: 1. The downfall of the New Journalism: the external factor-the superficiality of the traditional news report; the internal factor-New Journalists’ lack of financial and spiritual support. 2. The extension of the New Journalism: The New Journalism never disappears; the concept of “dualism” is not needed. 3. The form and the writing procedures of the New Journalism. (1) The form: a. Tom Wolfe has brought up the idea of third-person point of view, but there are still many journalists mixing it up with the first perspective. b. the New Journalism adopts “the physical description” to narrate the plots and personal outlines, trying to make them more stereo. (2)The procedure: it doesn’t abandon the traditional 5W1H writing process, but spread the process into individual paragraphs. 4. The reality issue of the New Journalism: the New Journalists construct the reality through the methods of “the physical description” and “esthetic reality”. 5. From the reality to the multi-cultural and progressive society: the concept “reality” can’t be measured. In the view of post-modernism, there are a lot of accounts of the diversification. We have to realize and tolerate the opinions of others. Only when we tolerate each other can we really communicate, discuss and consider each other. And one side may have to give its way to reach the possibility of a progressive society. Although the New Journalism recommends a lot of methods to reform the traditional news, it still has some defects. For example, the New Journalists are more likely to fabricate realities than the traditional journalists and the fake reality may not be found by readers. Moreover, the New Journalists may be more subjective than the traditional journalists. For these reasons, the New Journalists must be carefully lest its break the good intentions of the reformation.

Koutsoukos, Christina. "The journalist: a secular priest: how the news criteria or values of ‘secular’ journalistic practice are applied to the reporting of religion and religious issues in contemporary Australia: an examination of World Youth Day 2008." Abstract:
Research Doctorate - Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)<br>This project’s aim has been to examine what makes religion newsworthy in contemporary Australia. In July 2008, the biggest religious gathering in the country’s history was held in Sydney, New South Wales, host city of the 2000 Olympic Games. <i>World Youth Day 2008 (WYD08)</i> attracted more than one hundred thousand young Catholics from around the world. They converged to pray, sing and dance for their faith and to catch a glimpse of their hero and spiritual leader Pope Benedict XVI. This event literally brought religion onto the streets of a nation, which the pontiff and others had previously described as “Godless”. It was a “good news” story that graced the front pages of Sydney newspapers for more than a week, led television news bulletins, and was broadcast to over a billion viewers worldwide. A qualitative case study has been undertaken of print and terrestrial television news media coverage using mixed methods, coded content and thematic analysis, and practitioner interviews. This is supported by a discursive evaluation of news values that demonstrates how journalistic practice constructs and heightens “newsworthiness” through language and image at various stages of news story production. The papal brand was crucial in overcoming “cynical” opposition to and guaranteeing the success of - this “hybrid” religious media event (Pfadenhauer, 2010). <i>WYD08</i> used large-scale pageantry to transform Sydney from a world-class party destination to a Holy City; one ready for its first saint. Overall, the news reportage concentrated on the “spectacle”, producing a narrative that in both style and substance circumvented examination of the religious, and by extension major issues confronting the Catholic Church, specifically, the clergy sexual abuse scandal. This approach obviated the requirement for journalists to have any specialist knowledge of the religious sphere, raising further questions about where religion may be situated in public discourse.

Abstract:
abstract: Broadcast journalists often report on people dealing with illness or physical hardship, their difficulties and triumphs. But what happens when journalists personally experience those kinds of health-related issues? This study explores how 24 local and national on-air journalists share how they manage life with illness and hardship using personal narratives shared on their professional social media pages, detailing how the journalists navigate sharing a deeply personal experience while maintaining a professional journalistic persona. Thematic analysis found the journalists’ performed three acts when sharing personal health information in a public forum: they reported on their illness, they were transparent, and they justified their actions. Within the three themes a range of expression – from personal to professional – and influences over content were found, leading to the final overarching theme, implications and consequences on content creation. This dissertation finds a complicated struggle to maintain a professional self while acknowledging the urge to connect with others through a deeply personal experience.<br>Dissertation/Thesis<br>Doctoral Dissertation Journalism and Mass Communication 2019

Gadzikwa, Wellington. "Tabloidisation and the coverage of political issues in Zimbabwe - the case of Joice Mujuru." Thesis, 2017. http://hdl.handle.net/10500/24739.

Full text
Abstract:
The study critically explored the tabloidisation of political news in Zimbabwe by focussing on the coverage of the expulsion of Joice Mujuru from ZANU PF and government by selected newspapers. The study analysed three national dailies across the ownership divide; The Herald, Daily News and NewsDay. The objective of the study was to establish whether or not the decline in standards of journalism and performance in Zimbabwe could be attributed to tabloidisation. The study employed a qualitative methodology through qualitative content analysis and in-depth interviews to assess whether the framing reflected tabloid or broadsheet journalism styles. The framing of Joice Mujuru by The Herald was pejorative and derisive as she was depicted as corrupt, traitor, inept and a simplistic thinker who cannot handle issues to do with statecraft. Daily News sympathised with Joice Mujuru as a victim of chauvinistic factional politics in ZANU PF, especially, after the death of her husband, General Solomon Mujuru. The study argued that Joice was also depicted as a brave leader who could challenge for the office of the president, if she formed a coalition with MDC –T leader Morgan Tsvangirai. Daily News sought to counter all the negative framing of Joice Mujuru by The Herald. NewsDay framing was sympathetic, like Daily News but was more inclined on creating an image of a moderate leader in Mujuru, one who would be acceptable to all Zimbabweans because she had the critical liberation war credentials that Tsvangirai lacked and Mujuru’s perceived abilities to extricate the country from the economic challenges by mending relationships with the West. Despite the diametrically opposed frames in terms of The Herald versus Daily News and NewsDay, all the newspapers are undergoing the damaging process of tabloidisation by employing tabloid styles and formatting in their political news coverage through sensationalism, trivialisation and emotionalism. It was argued that the media needs self-introspection and recommitment to ethical and objective journalism as the watchdogs of society.<br>Communication<br>D. Litt. et Phil. (Communication)

Abstract:
Por fim, há uma grande diferenciação entre o conteúdo desportivo português e o brasileiro por conta da importância dada em cada país.<br>Journalism has been through several changes in its structures and contents over these past few years, especially with the arrival of the web and the emergence of new platforms for the dissemination of information. However, some issues are more deeply rooted in society and still prevail, still needing to be discussed. Gender issues and feminism have become issues of extreme importance in the last 5 years. With this study, it’s intended to know what are the working conditions of women in sports journalism, in addition to understanding their perceptions in relation to gender equality in Portuguese and Brazilian television newsrooms. We seek to understand what are the main entrances for a woman in this area; how gender issues influence these journalists' careers, both positively and negatively, and what have been the advances related to gender equality in sports information. For this purpose, we used a qualitative methodology, with semi-structured interviews with seven television sports journalists, four Brazilian and three Portuguese. We've noted that most journalists had their first contact with sport during childhood and that this contact was decisive for their entry into sports journalism, in addition to gender issues directly influencing not only their careers, but also affecting their personal life. On the other hand, all pointed significant advances in the search for equality within broadcasters. Finally, there’s a great difference between Portuguese and Brazilian sports content due to the importance given by each country.

Pandy, Thoraya. "Advocacy journalism and the organisational factors that support it. A study of Personal Finance in the context of coverage of the retirement annuity reform issue in South Africa." Thesis, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/10539/7310.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract This research report will evaluate Personal Finance as a news organisation. This will be done in order to uncover the organisational factors which support the emergence of a certain style of reporting by the publication, namely that of advocacy journalism. Traditional structural factors such as hierarchies of power, management structures and reporting routines and practices will be examined. However, other factors inherent to the news organisation, such as organisational values and the levels of professionalism and ethics will also be evaluated, as these factors can be seen as important to an organisation, influencing the style of reporting which emerges. The report will also present the findings of a case study which seeks to illustrate how the publication displayed an advocacy journalism style of reporting in its coverage of a specific issue. It will concentrate on the publication’s coverage of faults and reform in the life assurance industry in South Africa, which spanned a period of more than ten years. Based on this case study, the report will then uncover how various aspects of the organisational structure of Personal Finance resulted in the issue being covered as a story as well as the style of reporting on this issue. The social organisational theory of news production will be used as a theoretical focus. Theories of news production and the agenda-setting theory of mass media will also be used. Research will be qualitative in nature and include interviews and content analysis of relevant articles.

Abstract:
碩士<br>國立臺灣大學<br>政治學研究所<br>99<br>This study attempts to explore how the Internet-based Citizen Journalism phenomenon has exercised as the key factor in influencing the public opinions and further overturning or affecting the decision-making processes of public policies from the Lo-Sheng Case, the Protest from Dapu of Miaoli, and Anti Guo-Kuang Petroleum Plant social movement. The politics of Taiwan have undergone the so-called Silent Revolution and fulfilled numerous democratic achievements, including the direct presidential election system and two rounds of overturning political parties as the ruling parties. However, despite such democratic progress, the political decision-making process has not fully absorbed and accepted the opinions and vox populi (voices of the people) from the perspective of ‘ruling by the citizens.’ The reasons partially lie in the problematic electoral democratic system, coupled with the impact of political and economic power on the media and the rising influence of the Internet media. Media has gradually lost the role of ‘the Fourth Estate’ which was empowered and anticipated by the citizens, so that citizens have become the chess pieces or victims of elitism and bureaucratic decision-making, with no ways out as solutions. Recently the Citizen Journalism has developed rapidly in Taiwan. This has fulfilled the spirit of participatory democracy, especially when Citizen Journalism matches the goal of the public deliberation and cooperates with social movement groups in its process. What exactly is the role that Citizen Journalism has played in these three events? The major goal of this study focuses on how citizens express their opinions towards public policies and even influence the decision-making process. The study first defines Citizen Journalism and its development in democratic theories and public decision-making analysis through the review of literature, followed by case studies with in-depth interviews with citizen journalists, social movement members, and local participants in each case to conclude and investigate the reasons for success or failure, and further compare the role of Citizen Journalism and the impact of and influence on the relevant public policies within these cases. The conclusion exposes the reflections based on these interviews and the dialogues in democratic theories to explore the liberation and media de-construction as well as the multifaceted progress and impact of democratic procession caused by Civic Journalism.

Abstract:
This investigation aims to explore the portrayal of sportswomen in the media in Portugal. Equality is on the Portuguese Constitution and it must also be present on the media and in our society. Thus, this study will address the gender issues on the Portuguese media and on sports. This research included the study of two sports websites – Record and O Jogo - and interviews with female athletes and journalists were also made. Since football is the most highlighted sport in the news, it was decided not to include it on this study. Therefore, lesser known sports were the ones chosen for this investigation, such as swimming, judo, athletics, canoeing, tennis, handball, motors, triathlon, surfing and cycling. Hence, this study contrasts the role of sportswomen in the media and aims to provide solutions to this issue. To conclude, it can be said that these women are undervalued in the mass media communication, that there is no gender equality in sports and, finally, that the different sports mentioned in this dissertation are not reported the same way, resulting in the dominance of football.
