Abstract:
Abstract Employing a comparative method, the present study explores the Renaissance expression of Jozef Ciller’s Shakespearean scenographies. Based on an analysis of preserved archival material (scenographic proposals, photographs from productions, video recordings, reviews, etc.) and personal communication with Jozef Ciller, the author examines how he transposed general features of European Renaissance (visual arts, architecture) into individual scenographic solutions. The author’s analysis also aims to identify how Ciller worked with the architecture and scenography of Elizabethan theatre Renaissance and observe his work with Renaissance elements depending on whether a scenography was meant for indoors or outdoors. The author concludes that Jozef Ciller employs Renaissance elements as motifs to preserve the awareness of man’s Renaissance spirit and greatness.

Abstract:
(1892-1944)Following the example of his former teachers and fellow brothers Jozef Van Mierlo Junior and Desideer Stracke the Jesuit Father Jozef Van Opdenbosch turned out to be a prominent propagandist of the ethnico-cultural Flemish nationalism during the interbellum period. At the end of the 1920's Van Opdenbosch became one of the main sources of inspiration of the General Catholic Flemish Student Union (AKVS).During the 1930's he published articles and leaflets in which he defended the independent Catholic Flemish Student Union against the Catholic Students' Action (KSA) which was run by the diocese. In those publications he also argued for the destruction of the unnatural liberal state of Belgium, and in favour of the foundation of an organically set up Greater Netherlands nation, based on a Catholic model.

Abstract:
In the article the author Ivan Matkovsky analizes the publicistic work of Jozef Lobodowski who was the dedicated supporter of the Polish-Ukrainian Association. He tries to show Lobodowski’s reception of the Ukrainian nationalist movement in the 30th and the attempts of Ukrainians in this regard. Against the background of the internal problem of the Polish state, called the “Ukrainian question”, the author watches the opinions of the conscious patriotic Polish intellectuals who under the slogan of “historical objectivity” made attempts to prevent the tragedy in the relations between two neighboring states. Using post-war publications the author makes an attempt to show the evolution of the national liberation struggle evaluation which can be used by scientists for studying the Polish-Ukrainian relations these days. The author shows the evolution of Jozef Lobodowski who was shocked the horrors of the 1932-1933 Holodomor (Great Famine). The publicist breaks with his Communist past and Russophile sentiments. Lobodowski tries to present in interwar Poland the tragedy of the Ukrainian intellectuals who came under the Soviet government occupation. There are several key directions Lobodowski was working on: the popularization of contemporary Ukrainian culture, the finding of an unknown Ukrainian historical and an analysis of the Ukrainian political environment. Therefore, we observe the efforts of Jozef Lobodowski to estimate the reasons of the conflict with the Ukrainian nationalists representatives. He offers his own vision for future of the Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe. It is important the author’s attempt to show the development of Jozef Lobodowski’s activities in the period of his emigration. Those days both Ukrainians and Polish emigrants were trying to analyze the common Polish-Ukrainian past in Galicia and Volyn and create new platforms for dialogue. And one of those platforms are the creations and views of Jozef Lobodowski

This scientific study is part of research no. 130 Metenko Jozef, Methods of research and development of police activities, research no. 201 Metenko Jozef, Strengthening of European coordination in the field of national security research programmes for major events, research no.182 Metenko Jozef, Administrative practice for dialogue and communication, as the strategic principles of police activities for political manifestation and research no. 173 Metenko Jozef, Coordination of national research and policy to ensure security in major events in Europe. The scientific study deals with the issue of police interventions into fundamental rights and freedoms as a result of police activities connected to the execution of tasks and duties of police officers, and also with other provisions of the Act on the Police Force. The authors consider the rule of law to be synonymous with constitutional or legitimate governance and which also characterises the exercise of state authority on the basis of constitutionally issued laws. The authors associate police interventions with the protective function of the state, establish conditions for interference with fundamental rights and freedoms from the perspective of police activity which compliance with, or breaching of, indicates whether the particular rights and freedoms are violated or not by the intervention. Subsequently, the authors identified the concepts of prevention and prophylaxis, which they interpret on the basis of chosen international scientific results and conclusions.

Abstract:
In this article, we take a new look at the initiator of the campaign to prohibit the so-called “Lithuanian” books in the Moscow Tsardom in the first third of the 17th century on the basis of known sources. In addition to the extant documents and indisputable biographical facts, manuscript materials from the azbukovniks of Muscovite corrector David Zamaray are also involved to propose the hypothesis about the initiative in the prosecution of books from the neighboring state that came from Lithuanian emigrant Jozef Kurcewicz, who became archbishop of Suzdal and Tarusa in the Moscow Tsardom. The examination of vocabulary entries of these azbukovniks allows us to establish that some of them were borrowed from the “Lithuanian printing” books, coming to Moscow from the constant correspondent of Jozef Kurcewicz, Metropolitan of Kiev Job Boretsky (such as Homilies of John Chrysostom on the Acts of the Apostles (Kiev, 1624), John Chrysostom’s Homilies on 14 Epistles of Apostle Paul (Kiev, 1623)). We also show that the Kievan theologian Athanasius Kitaichich, who became the first among detractors of Didactic Gospel of Kyrylo Stavrovetsky-Tranquillion, was under the patronage of Jozef Kurcewicz and could reflect his point of view on this book.

Abstract Introduction: The aim of this work is to discover how deep is the knowledge of students graduating from three different Warsaw universities The Jozef Pilsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw , The Medical University of Warsaw and the Warsaw University of Technology) about the occurrence of and reasons for the syndrome of spinal pain. Material and methods: In research took part 150 students from V year of study from three Warsaw universities. 50 of them were from the Jozef Pilsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw, 50 from the Medical University of Warsaw and 50 from the Warsaw University of Technology. The students were interviewed at the end of January and in February 2010 with a specially created questionnaire. Results: The state of knowledge about the occurrence and reasons of the syndrome of spinal pain at the society of students of Warsaw colleges is varied depending on the college of graduation. The Jozef Pilsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw and Medical University of Warsaw interviewees drew analogous and satisfactory levels of knowledge but the Warsaw University of Technology students showed serious deficiencies. Conclusions: The state of knowledge about the occurrence and reasons for the syndrome of spinal pain at the society of students of Medical University of Warsaw and The Jozef Pilsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw is sufficient and satisfactory but it is definitely too low in case of Warsaw University of Technology students. Students from the last group did not realize that spinal problems relate also to young people. It is worth promoting knowledge about preventing spinal problems among all students, starting at a very early stage of their studies, so as not to allow those problems to develop just before those young people start their carriers in the labor market.

Abstract:
Abstract In the 1940s the Drama Company of the Slovak National Theatre introduced four poetry productions, which demonstrated the stage potential of the symbiosis of verse and a music-accompanied recitation in an original stage design solution. The single presentation of poetry of Poézia revolúcie a boja [The Poetry of Revolution and Fight, 1945] directed by Ján Jamnický and Pásmo poézie Janka Jesenského [The Show of Poetry by Janko Jesenský, 1946] directed by Jozef Budský were the first independent attempts at staging selected poetry. Besides recitation, they were dominated by the visual sign, powerful music sometimes accompanied by the singing of individuals and a voice band, and distinctive lighting design. Botto’s Smrť Jánošíkova [The Death of Jánošík] and Sládkovič’s Marína (both in 1948) directed by Jozef Budský displayed all features of synthetic theatre, combining recitation, voice band singing, scenic and visual solutions, metaphor, originally composed music inspired by the folk song, dance, film screening, and meaningful lighting. Jozef Budský indirectly built on Czech theatre, particularly on E. F. Burian. Both masterpieces by the authors of Štúr’s generation (Ján Botto, Andrej Sládkovič) aroused the interest of the expert public and the audience. It triggered arguments about excessive directorial intervention and insufficient ideological character, especially in the theatre form of Marína.
