A map $\Phi$ is a Jordan triple product (JTP for short) homomorphism whenever $\Phi(A B A)= \Phi(A) \Phi(B) \Phi(A)$ for all $A,B$. We study JTP homomorphisms on the set of upper triangular matrices $\mathcal{T}_n(\mathbb{F})$, where $\Ff$ is the field of real or complex numbers. We characterize JTP homomorphisms $\Phi: \mathcal{T}_n(\mathbb{C}) \to \mathbb{C}$ and JTP homomorphisms $\Phi: \mathbb{F} \to \mathcal{T}_n(\mathbb{F})$. In the latter case we consider continuous maps and the implications of omitting the assumption of continuity.

This paper applies two powerful analytical approximation methods to the jamming transition problem (JTP) of traffic flow networks. The governing equations are modeled on the Lorentz system and take the form of a nonlinear nonconservative oscillator. We describe and implement the homotopy perturbation method (HPM) and the variational iteration method (VIM) to compute approximations to the JTP solution. Their solutions are compared with the purely numerical fourth-order Runge–Kutta solution. We conclude that both HPM and VIM provide highly accurate analytical solutions to the nonlinear jamming t

Abstract:
This case study presents and discusses the psychosocial support program (PSP) that was conducted in the Republic of Maldives following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami disaster. The PSP intervention included providing psychological first-aid training to counsellors and teachers, modifying a teacher's manual and training teachers to share its contents with peers, and conducting a training workshop so that professionals could take over the implementation of the PSP. This article also examines the five strategies involved in general PSPs, which include: using a community-based approach; ensuring tha

AbstractTo facilitate the precision of clinical electrocardiographic studies of J-to-Tpeak (JTp) and Tpeak-to-Tend (Tpe) intervals, the study investigated their differences between healthy females and males, and between subjects of African and Caucasian origin. In 523 healthy subjects (254 females; 236 subjects of African origin), repeated Holter recordings were used to measure QT, JT, JTp, and Tpe intervals preceded by both stable and variable heart rates. Subject-specific curvilinear regression models were used to obtain individual QTc, JTc, JTpc and Tpec intervals. Rate hysteresis, i.e., th

Abstract Drug-induced changes of the J to T peak (JTp) and J to the median of area under the T wave (JT50) were reported to differentiate QT prolonging drugs that are predominant blockers of the delayed potassium rectifier current from those with multiple ion channel effects. Studies of drug-induced JTp/JT50 interval changes might therefore facilitate cardiac safety evaluation of new pharmaceuticals. It is not known whether formulas for QT heart rate correction are applicable to JTp and JT50 intervals. QT/RR, JTp/RR, and JT50/RR profiles were studied in 523 healthy subjects aged 33.5 ± 8.4 yea
