Abstract:
Grandiose celebrations took place in 1902 in Bulgaria on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the epopee of Shipka. The idea for the celebration belongs to the “Tsar Osvoboditel Alexander IIˮ Committee. Started as a public initiative, the preparations for the jubilee received the full support of the Bulgarian prince, and at a later stage, the government in Sofia became involved. The present study reveals the activity of the Bulgarian country to organize the celebration and to ensure Russian presence at it. The different visions of Sofia and Petersburg regarding the nature of the celebrations and the reasons for the difficult communication between the two countries are presented. Moreover, the article emphasizes the efforts of the Bulgarians to turn the anniversary into a demonstration of the close relations between Bulgaria and Russia. Last but not least, the study interprets the Shipka celebrations as the first manifestation of the so-called jubilee diplomacy, which gained momentum in this period and used landmark historical events and the celebrations organized in their honor to achieve political goals.

Abstract:
This article situates itself within two rapidly evolving historiographical fields: the history of universities and the study of historical memory. It investigates the practices surrounding the celebration of anniversaries and milestones at Petrograd (Leningrad) University during the early Soviet period. Utilizing a range of sources, including press materials, ego-documents, and administrative records related to the preparation for these anniversary celebrations—specifically those in 1919, 1929, 1939, and 1944—the study reveals how the scenarios and nature of these commemorative events evolved under the influence of state memory policies. Over time, these anniversaries transformed into yet another celebration on the “red calendar” for faculty and students alike. The article also explores how the university leveraged these jubilee festivities for corporate purposes. The authors conclude that university administrators and faculty successfully used these anniversaries as opportunities to draw governmental attention to pressing issues facing higher education. Furthermore, the paper addresses the impact of jubilee traditions on the historiography of the university itself, demonstrating that by the late 1930s and early 1940s, a new “Soviet” perspective on the history of Saint Petersburg (Petrograd, Leningrad) University emerged during these celebrations, laying the groundwork for future research in this area.

Abstract:
Here the authors present another article from the series devoted to the work of libraries of academic institutions and their staff during the Great Patriotic War. The article bases on the documents found in the archive of the Library for Natural Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow and St. Petersburg Archives of the Academy of Sciences. The authors used the general scientific methodology, applying source study, archaeographic and analytical-synthetic methods of work with archival documents. This work is devoted to the grandiose event, preparation to which took place in in the last war months – the 220th anniversary of the USSR Academy of Sciences celebration. Preparation for this jubilee celebration was complex one, engaging various specialists and reflecting different directions of scientific development in the country. Large-scale book and rare archive documents exhibitions in which the best library specialists of the USSR Academy of Sciences took part displayed successes of the Russian science. These jubilee arrangements were to demonstrate the history of the development of science in Russia and the Soviet state power having won the severe war. When arranging jubilee celebrations the USSR Academy of Science librarians used the experience acquired while organizing famous scientists books’ exhibitions in the most difficult period of the Great Patriotic War. There were exhibited book treasures from the collections of academic libraries and archives as well as the results of studies of soviet scientists, foreign scientific publications that included native scientists’ articles. These exhibitions took place in Moscow and Leningrad – the cradle of the Russian Academy of Sciences. During this hard war period, the State allotted considerable resources for the jubilee arrangements, attaching great importance to international contacts of native scientists, showing their impact into the global science. The jubilee exhibitions revealed the big potential of the USSR Academy of Science libraries in spite of the enormous stuff and resources loss during the war. The experience of holding events on celebrating the anniversary of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1945 may be useful in organizing work on the upcoming 300-th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2024.

Abstract:
The article studies the commemorative medal for the centenary of the Imperial St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences as a part of the Academy’s jubilee. Preserving memory of significant events is one of key aspects of culture. Jubilees and jubilee-related artifacts, i.e. commemorative medals, have their place among so called commemorative practices. Scientific community uses such practices make appeals to the authorities, to enhance its prestige, and to consolidate itself. The 1826 commemorative medal appeared to be a part of the jubilee events. The large-scale celebrations seemed to be a landmark in the history of the Academy of Sciences. Its President, Sergey Uvarov, used the opportunity to appeal to the Emperor and to show the Academy in all its glory. Medallionist Fyodor Tolstoy created for the occasion a jubilee commemorative medal, which was presented to the members of the Imperial family and other notable guests. That event was the climax of the celebration. The medal was authorized by the Emperor. Its creation therefore proved that the authorities recognized the import of the Academy of Sciences, the worth of science for state, its military power and its political reputation. The 1826 commemorative medal symbolized Imperial favor towards the Academy of Sciences; it bears the names of three monarchs: Peter I, its founder, Alexander I, its protector at the close of its first hundred years, and Nicholas I, its hope for the new era. Several drafts of the medal prove that academician experts in numismatics participated in its creation. The authors consider the commemorative medal an important historical source and a set of symbols to be explained. The article analyses art media and studies the evolution of medal inscriptions (they were first made in Latin, but later re-written in Russian on the Emperor’s orders).

As we structure the economic and social practices of the communities, institutions and nations of which we are all a part, jubilee calls us to discipleship. Jubilee speaks to the creation of societies of hope, of celebration and of prosperity. It is about the creation of social rest as we rest in God. This requires the careful and intentional formation of agents of social rest. Jubilee clearly advocates for proactive rather than reactive social practices in relation to immediate needs as well as long-term social legacy. Jubilee clearly addresses six of the 10 principles for just peacemaking.

Abstract:
Abstract In 1961, Italy celebrated the hundredth anniversary of its unification. A wide range of initiatives commemorated the centennial, highlighting the glorious deeds of the Risorgimento and their long-term, positive legacy. Seven years later, Japan embarked on a similar task with the celebration of the hundredth anniversary of the Meiji Restoration (1868). Like the Italian National Jubilee, the Japanese one praised the country’s achievements, presenting Meiji Restoration as a successful transformation unmatched in world history. Although there is literature about the Italian and Japanese centennials, there has been no attempt to comparatively analyse them. Yet, the two jubilees reveal interesting similarities that deserve further attention. In both cases, the official commemorative agenda proposed a self-congratulatory narrative linking the ideal starting point of modernization – Risorgimento/Meiji Restoration – to the arrival point, namely the economic “miracles” that the two countries were experiencing. Both in Italy and in Japan, the anniversaries posed crucial questions concerning the historical assessment of the totalitarian regimes. Finally, in both cases the celebrations were the subject of intense domestic debates. Through an investigation of carefully selected first-hand sources in Italian and Japanese, the paper will make a comparative analysis of the Italian National Jubilee and the Meiji Centennial in order to gain theoretical insights on the way the parties in power used history to build national identity.

Abstract:
The author has analyzed the content of the bull of Pope Nicholas V of 1450, which is located in the Central Historical Archive in Lviv, in the article. It was found that the pope provided special conditions for Christians to conduct the Jubilee Year in the Kingdom of Poland. Pope Nicholas V had installed specific obligations regarding the celebration of it for the Polish king Casimir IV Jagiellon, his mother Queen Sophia, the papal collector Mykola Spichimir, etc. The Polish chronicler Jan Dlugosz left the information about the peculiarities of the jubilee celebrations in the Kingdom of Poland. Similar jubilee celebrations introduced by Pope Boniface VIII were celebrated for the sixth time in the Latin Church. The need for their conduct was further substantiated in the 14th century. The creation of the investigated document was due to the fact that the lands of Rus were vulnerable to constant attacks by the Tatars. The khan of the Great Horde Sa'id-Akhmat who with the Tatars subordinated to him had been made the raid on the Galician and Podolian lands in the autumn of 1450, directly caused to the creation of the bull. The mechanism of protection of the Eastern European borders by Сatholics was reflected in the content of the document.

This article focuses on a theatrical play performed during the Jubilee, the anniversary feast of Isabek Ishan, a local Kazakh saint. The state-supported celebration at Isabek’s restored shrine is an example of the nation-building processes of post-Soviet Kazakhstan. The Jubilee brought together pre-Soviet, Soviet, and post-Soviet themes, including narratives of sainthood and the significance of local sacred lineages. The play depicts Stalinist repression of religion, pointing to the importance of religious nationalism in contemporary state ideology. Despite occupying a relatively small space in the celebration, the play demonstrated how Stalinist trauma continues to inform local Muslim beliefs and practices, emphasizing the association of Kazakh nationalism with religious practices.

This history project and indeed all the ASM celebrations happening in 2009 have their origins in the meeting of Council held on the Gold Coast in 2006. It was at that meeting that then President, Julian Rood, had an inkling that our Golden Jubilee was approaching. It is perhaps a reflection of the fact that we can so quickly lose track of the past that no one could definitively name our year of foundation. After subsequent research revealed the significance of 1959, Council quickly agreed that 2009 should be a special year of celebration for us.

Abstract:
Based on materials from publications dedicated to the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Russian expansion into Siberia, the article reconsiders the content of the discourse of celebrations that happened on October 26, 1881, in the capital centers of the Russian Empire, as a promising model for the consolidation of the authorities and society in solving critical issues facing by the government in the eastern outskirts of the empire. The historiographical review reveals that researchers show solidarity in choosing the timing of the anniversary events. The scholars conducted a thorough analysis of the discussions surrounding the determination of the time of celebration in the discourse of authorities and society. They concluded that the debates about the precise dates and years of the “Siberian conquest” were peripheral in nature and not of significant concern in the professional community or public opinion. The study identifies the main “platforms” of the jubilee discourse, as well as the ceremonial and storytelling aspects of the commemoration, dominated during the celebration of the Russian Expansion into Siberia, in the context of formulating and translating the current imperial scenarios to incorporate Asian Russia into the general imperial space. It has been established that the ceremonial components of the jubilee discourse outlined the priorities of the imperial center in making decisions of a colonization nature. The narrative part of the discourse showcased the willingness and ability of the authorities to engage with the social forces. This was particularly evident in the discussion and formulation of the programmatic narrative, which focused on the inclusion of Asian territories in the empire. The discourse emphasized the paramount importance of connecting the European and Asian parts of Russia by rail and introduced flexible algorithms for resolving foreign issues. Furthermore, the discourse aimed to reduce the share of exile as a tool of colonization and promote government-level involvement in the resettlement process.

AbstractWhat was the message of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017 in Germany? In preparation for the jubilee, there was an intensive debate on how to commemorate this anniversary. Critical examinations by historians warned about personalizing this anniversary too much by showing that the anniversaries in the past were usually politically “exploited.” In the end, it became clear for several reasons that an adequate commemoration of the Reformation jubilee today could be justifiable only in an ecumenical celebration serving both commemoration and reconciliation. In this regard, the 2017 jubilee was the first Reformation anniversary to be commemorated ecumenically. And in this respect, the year 2017 marks the end of the controversial age of Reformation.

The purpose of the article to analyze of the plans for security measures to ensure the safety of Nicholas II and his family members during their stay in Nizhny Novgorod and while traveling to Kostroma in May 1913. The author draws attention to the fact that this trip was undertaken as part of the jubilee celebrations in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty. It is stressed that the actuality of this research lies in the fact that the development of the Security Guard Service in modern Russia needs to rely on historical experience. The author emphasizes that the search for optimal forms and methods of implementing of the state protection function makes to turn to previously developed methods. Much attention is given to the methods used in planning and conducting large-scale security measures. The accumulated experience of planning and conducting the jubilee celebrations in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty is of great importance. The study is based on unpublished materials from the collections of the State Archive of the Russian Federation and the Russian State Historical Archive. As a result, the author draws conclusions that the successful implementation of the jubilee celebration program in Nizhny Novgorod was ensured mainly due to the careful preparation of security measures. It included the advance development of a security plan, the separation of powers between individual units, the setting of specific tasks to responsible officials, and the implementation of a large set of preliminary security measures in places of the highest visit.

The article aims to clarify the peculiarities of the reception of M. Hrushevsky’s scientific and socio-political activities by Ukrainian foreign historians in the context of his centenary celebration. The research methodology applies the principles of historicism and objectivity, as well as general scientific and special-historical methods of historiographical research. The scientific novelty of the article is in an attempt to comprehensively reconstruct the historiographical effect of the celebration of the centennial anniversary of M. Hrushevsky by Ukrainian intellectuals abroad. Conclusions. The summarized multifaceted material makes it possible to convincingly state that the centenary of M. Hrushevsky became a significant event in the intellectual life of Ukrainians abroad. Despite the stereotyped thinking of some diaspora figures, thanks to extensive media promotion and numerous public and scientific initiatives, the commemoration was turned into a celebration of Ukrainian culture, which is important for the consolidation of the emigrant community. As a result, numerous innovative historiographic studies based on actualized issues appeared. Their authors, in their reconstructions of M. Hrushevsky’s life and activities, took into account an increasingly wide range of cognitive perspectives and intellectual contexts. And the lively discussion of these works, the appearance of provocative interpretations (for example, O. Pritsak), the public resonance of many initiatives contributed to the stability of the "tone" of historiographical interest. All this made possible the emergence of L. Vynar’s disciplinary initiative to start Hrushevsky studies as a separate branch of reasearch. The dynamism of the progress of this field of Ukrainian studies in the following decades allows us to confirm the power of the historiographical impulse given by the anniversary events.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Perm as a case of symbolic politics. Preparation for the city’s jubilee is considered as a complex political process that along with other components involves a political usage of the historical past and a representation of local identity. This approach combines a semantic analysis of the celebration program with a study of actor interactions that led to the selection of particular meanings. The analysis is based on media publications, expert interviews, and field research conducted in September and October 2023. The article reveals the key semantic dilemmas involved in the construction of the celebration program of the 300th anniversary of Perm, and discusses the problems that its organizers had to solve. Special attention is devoted to historical and educational projects prepared for the anniversary. The author concludes that despite expectations and fears the celebration of the 300th anniversary did not become an act of decisive redefinition of Perm's identity. The slogan of the celebration "Everything is real" perfectly expressed the main idea of the event - a manifestation of different, sometimes contradictory facets of Perm's identity.

Young people gathered in workplaces, schools and youth organizations were also expected to participate in the celebrations. Furthermore, it was recommended to study the biography of Stalin and decorate public buildings with Polish and Soviet colours, as well as portraits of Stalin and related slogans. In Olsztyn, as in other Polish cities, the Provincial Committee for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Stalin was established, which included members of the political and administrative authorities, as well as representatives of the army, trade unions, social, scientific, creative and artistic organisations, and industry leaders. However, compared to other regions in the Olsztyn Voivodeship, the celebrations of the jubilee of the birth of Joseph Stalin had a much more modest dimension, mainly due to the typically agricultural character of the region, as well as the relatively small population of Warmia and Masuria at that time

Abstract:
On the evening of 8 October 1973, a group of physicians led a watchnight ceremony on the campus of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana. At midnight, Dr. Portuphy-Lamptey, the Chief Medical Administrator, pulled a lanyard to raise an official flag inaugurating the Hospital's Golden Jubilee Anniversary. The next day, the Ghanaian Commissioner for Health, Lieutenant Colonel A.H. Selormey, unveiled an anniversary plaque that thanked and praised the hospital staff who had worked at Korle Bu over the past fifty years. In a speech to assembled dignitaries, Selormey appealed to Ghanaians to use the Golden Jubilee Celebration as a means of arousing a “full consciousness” of Ghana's “great heritage.” In the months that followed, the 50th Anniversary Celebration Committee organized a series of events to commemorate the role of the institution in the history of the Gold Coast and Ghana, including a formal dinner during which the assembled guests joined together to sing Korle Bu Oyiwala doŋŋ, a popular tribute to the hospital sung in the local language of Ga (see Figure 1). Several months later, at the closing ceremony, the Committee unveiled a statue of Gordon Guggisberg, the British governor credited with building the hospital, an iconic image that is still standing in front of the hospital today.

Abstract:
In 1947, Lithuania celebrated the 400th anniversary of the first Lithuanian book, M. Mažvydas's Cathechismus, published in 1547. During this celebration, scientific conferences and book exhibitions were organized, and several significant works devoted to the anniversary were published. Among these was one of the most artistic editions: "The First Lithuanian Book" (a photographic text of the Cathechismus and its transliteration in Latin letters, with articles by J. Kruopas and illuminations by M. Bulakas). In the collection of articles "Ancient Lithuanian Book," significant research in the history of the book and literature was presented, including K. Korsakas's "The First Lithuanian Book," V. Mykolaitis's "Artistic Elements in the Works of Mažvydas and His Contemporaries," P. Galaunė's "Artistic Design of Mažvydas's Book," and V. Abramavičius's "Printing-Offices of Ancient Lithuanian Books." These works addressed issues such as the conditions under which the first Lithuanian book was published, its significance, the date of its publication, its intended audience, authorship and collaboration issues, and analyses of the published texts from linguistic, literary, pedagogical, and ethnographic perspectives, as well as typographical particularities. Some material from the jubilee celebration, such as reports from conferences, was published in the "Directory of the Academy of Sciences of the Lithuanian SSR" (1948, vol. 2). Jubilee reports by V. Mykolaitis, "The First Lithuanian Book" (1948), and K. Korsakas, "Development of Lithuanian Book over 400 Years" (1948), were published separately. During the anniversary year, the first Lithuanian book and other works by M. Mažvydas were extensively investigated, defining their significance for linguistic science, cultural history, and the expansion of literature, and showing the historical development of Lithuanian book publishing.

Limanova, Svetlana A. "Jubilee by telegraph: the 50th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s reign (1887) in the mirror of the Russian press." Novaya i Novejshaya Istoriya, no. 5 (October 29, 2024): 95–109. http://dx.doi.org/10.31857/s0130386424050088.

Abstract:
In the article, the author presents a review of reports on the celebration of Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee (1887) in the leading newspapers and magazines of the Russian Empire, including The Government Gazette and Sankt-Peterburgskie Vedomosti. Additionally, the following periodicals were consulted: “Moskovskie Vedomosti”, “Novoe Vremya”, “Novorossiyskiy Telegraph”, “Vestnik Evropy” and “Vsemirnaya Illyustratsiya”, among others. Given the plethora of literature on the period of Queen Victoria’s reign and the growing interest in jubilee practices amongst British scholars, this topic has yet to be considered from that particular perspective. The article is divided into several thematic sections, including an examination of the characteristics of Russian periodicals, a comprehensive account of the jubilee celebrations themselves, an analysis of the participation of members of the Russian imperial family in the festivities, a discussion of Britain’s role as a colonial power, and more. In the latter half of the nineteenth century, periodicals constituted the principal source of information, and thus were in high demand. On the one hand, the press facilitated the formation of public opinion, thereby serving as an effective conduit for disseminating significant domestic and foreign policy developments. On the other hand, as the number of newspapers proliferated, publishers were compelled to increasingly prioritise the interests of their readership. At that time, telegraph agencies played a pivotal role in the circulation of international news, to some extent standardising the dissemination of information. Concurrently, there were publications that could claim to have their own correspondents on the ground, thereby facilitating the acquisition of a range of exclusive information. The capital’s newspapers and magazines set the tone for the provincial press, which was often constrained to lengthy reprints. Consequently, the Russian public could access news from places as distant as Great Britain.

The subject of the article is the celebration of the hundredth anniversary of Helena Modjeska’s birth in 1940, which took place outside Poland due to the war situation. The outstanding artist was celebrated in the United States with two jubilee academies. The first one, organized on the initiative of the Polish Americans, took place on May 5, 1940 at the Polish Home in Los Angeles, and the second one was on October 27 in the Modjeska Club in New York. In a specific historical and geopolitical situation, both celebrations not only recalled and emphasized the achievements of this outstanding Polish-American artist, but were also a kind of national manifestation. The organizers wanted the American community to be interested in the current situation in Poland. The Academy in Los Angeles, during which Ignacy Paderewski’s message to American friends was replayed, even became a war appeal, a voice of support for Modjeska’s home country occupied by two invaders.

Abstract:
The brief report on the activities of the St. Petersburg Slavic Charitable Committee for the year 1869 includes a record that society members discussed the celebration of the 500th anniversary of Jan Hus and established a prize for an essay on the Czech religious figure. The inclusion of Hus in the list of “jubilarians” worthy of honor not only highlights the significance of this religious thinker for the Slavic world but also touches upon certain political aspects of Russian history. The article analyzes the reasons for the Russian public's attention to Hus’s persona, provides a characterization of the views of Russian intellectuals at the time of the contest announcement regarding the legacy of the Czech religious figure, and presents reflections on how the proposal to support Jan Hus’s 500th jubilee aligns with the tradition of honoring cultural figures in the Russian Empire by the mid-19th century. The material draws from both published documents and sources not yet introduced into scholarly circulation. The motives behind honoring Jan Hus's legacy are seen in the acknowledgment by the chairman of the St. Petersburg branch of the committee, Gilferding, of the Orthodox foundations of the Czech reformer’s teachings, deeming it possible to use Hus celebrations as a lever of influence on Czech society and advance the idea of political and religious unity among all Slavic branches in Orthodox faith.

Abstract:
The jubilee for pilgrims of hope is a call by Pope Francis for humanity to journey together reflecting on the past years that not a single country has been unaffected by the sudden outbreak of an epidemic that made us experience first-hand not only the tragedy of dying alone, but also the uncertainty and fleetingness of existence, and so doing, has changed our very way of life. The Pope observed that the world has continued to experience various violent crises that in some cases have led to avoidable wars between nations that are not only threatening the existence of human life and global peace but have orchestrated brutal destruction of lives and property. Against this backdrop, the Pope believes the jubilee can contribute greatly to restoring a climate of hope and trust as a prelude to the renewal and rebirth that we so urgently desire. This pastoral concern of the Pope prompted the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) to enjoin all segments and levels of the community to jointly face with hope the emergency in which we find ourselves as a nation, especially as our worsening economy has continued to make living hard and difficult for our people who have been subjected to a life of grinding poverty, continuing hunger, and untold hardship. At the heart of this jubilee lies the study of Sacrosanctum Concilium as one of the guiding documents for the celebration. The document serves as a guide, illuminating the path toward a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Church's worship, ultimately leading to a deeper encounter with the living God, who is our hope at all times.

Abstract:
A study of public musical life in Edmonton, Alberta from the 1897 Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria through the beginning of World War I provides a case study in the development of new urban musical cultures during the settlement of western North America. The contrast between the Jubilee celebration and Alberta's inauguration as a province in 1905 reveals growing ambition to demonstrate a capacity for the serious music that could be viewed as a marker of civic achievement, and the absence in 1905 of First Nations dancers and drummers, who had taken part in the 1897 event, provides a reminder of the displacement of indigenous peoples that accompanied the immigration booms that characterized settler colonialism. Popular music too developed with the city; as an alternative to non-literate, rural practices like fiddling, it could represent another form of urban sophistication, but also provided an opportunity to import high culture's dismissal of the popular, yet another signifier of urban cultural practice.

Abstract:
The real and not only Nazi propaganda proclaimed huge increase in concert and theatre life was used by the representatives of the Protectorate government as an argument for cultural and national autonomy. During the years of occupation, major musical events were held, such as the Prague Music May (1939), the Czech Music May (1940), the Jubilee Year of Antonín Dvořák (1941) and the Jubilee Year of Bedřich Smetana (1944). These large, organised events, primarily focused on the presentation of Czech music, also included the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Vítězslav Novák's birth in 1940. It was the work of this composer that had seen a surprising renaissance of interest during the difficult years of occupation compared to previous decades, as shown by the increased frequency of performances on concert stages, radio broadcasts and theatre stages. This paper explores the musical life of the Protectorate and highlights the central role played by the personality and work of Vítězslav Novák.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the reception of the Reformation in 1817, the year of its 300th anniversary celebration. Based on the achievements of memory studies, the author considers the jubilee celebration as a way of constructing the general historical memory of Germany. The selection of sources taken as the basis of the study takes into account the conflict of interpretations of the holiday, which has developed in the public sphere. This includes the analysis of orders on the organization of celebrations and reports on their holding in Catholic and Protestant states, documented anniversary speeches of the Bursches in Wartburg, publications of individuals not belonging to Protestant denominations, supra-regional and local narratives, academic speeches and church sermons. Additional sources of personal origin have been drawn upon, confirming precedents of the conscious design of commemorative dates in order to bridge social divides. The analysis of the texts reveals common patterns, laying the basis for the formation of national consciousness, which gradually displaces confessional identity. This process can also be seen in the transformation of the image of Martin Luther, who from a religious figure turns into a national hero, placed on a par with the winners of the Battle of Nations and the legendary Arminius. Thus, the study of examples of such construction makes it possible to clarify the specificity of the ideological consolidation of the German nation, characteristic for the first half of the 19th century.

Renewed emphasis on the significance of the ambo on the part of the Roman dicastery for divine worship appeared in the context of the Roman rite in the late 1980s and once again in the Jubilee year 2000 but seems to have been overlooked in the vast majority of local churches. The author reviews what he considers to be a gradual restoration of the ambo to its medieval heyday while seeing that same restoration as central in placing the celebration of Christ’s paschal mystery at the heart of the liturgy renewed after Vatican II.

Immediately following his repatriation in 1936, Prokofiev composed a film score for a screen adaptation of Pushkin's The Queen of Spades. Although the film was never finished, Prokofiev's completed score reveals an idiosyncratic approach to film music, one that is strikingly different than that found in his better known scores such as Alexander Nevsky. Reconstruction of the production and its context demonstrates how Prokofiev's aesthetic goals of a "new simplicity," characterized by lyricism, spare textures, and avoidance of dissonance, would successfully intersect with the ideological goals of a Jubilee celebration planned by the Soviet government for the centenary of Pushkin's death.

Since last year, 2022, India has been celebrating Amrit Kal. This is the seventy-fifth year of independence and marks the platinum jubilee celebration. In this context, it is high time to analyse the contributions of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who laid a strong foundation of capacity building and structural changes in the economy. He also made the economy widely open through trade networks and foreign exchange mobilization. The purpose of the present paper is to highlight important initiatives of Vajpayee during his two terms as PM and to make the UP state and the country a very strong one. In this paper, we have focused on infrastructural change, disinvestment, and fiscal prudence. The paper is based on secondary sources of data. The trend line has been estimated based on time series data for highways. The paper concludes that the origination of the National Highway Authority of India, disinvestment in sick PSUs, and fiscal prudence are core strategies that improved the Indian economy. Needless to say, UP and Uttarakhand jointly are the biggest states in the country.
