Full textThe research work is based on economic models used by different authors to measure the economic impact that the Olympic Games would generate for the host country. This model of ordinary least squares is replicated in the Pan American Games stage. Existing studies suggest that the Olympics may lead to increased employment, but they reach little consensus on the size or length of that impact. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of hosting the Pan American Games through GDP and unemployment. To assess the economic impact, host nations will not only be analyzed in and of itself, but will also be compared to runner-up nations in the bidding process.

Full textThe Pan American Games is one of the most important sporting events in the world, as it attracts more than 6000 athletes, and captures the attention of more than one million people. During 2019, this event will take place in the city of Lima, constituting a challenge for the country, both at the socioeconomic and sports levels. In this sense, this thesis proposes a price and channel strategy that seeks not only to maximize the sale of available tickets, but also to ensure the attendance of the public of all social strata and ages. A strategy of shared value is proposed, where the pricing policy, apart from taking into account the transactional aspect of ticket sales, also considers the component of relations with the public; since the entrances constitute a visible element with the spectators. For the elaboration of the strategy, initial price ranges were defined taking as reference information from the entertainment industry and similar events such as the London 2012 Olympics and the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games. Next, the ranges were contrasted with the willingness to pay of the potential spectators, through the quantitative study Bus Express Ipsos. Finally, the ranges were adjusted by analyzing the distribution of the zones of each enclosure assigned for the development of the event. Based on the above, the thesis proposes differentiated prices for the inauguration (from S / 60 to S / 480) and closing of the event (from S / 30 to S / 240); also, prices differentiated by sports preferences from potential spectators (three plans with price scales from S / 20 to S / 240), by age range (price to pay equivalent to age, for the public from 12 to 18) years, and preferential rates for seniors and children) and by phases of the competitions (higher prices in the final phase). Regarding the points of sale, online and physical channels are proposed to ensure coverage to the potential public.

Full textThe experience of the Pan American and Parapan American Games – Lima 2019 has boosted the use of state-to-state contracts for the realization of large-scale public works. However, it is very important to point out that this contractual modality should not be conceived as a general rule for all public infrastructure investment projects. In this context, this research work seeks to deepen in this regard, analyzing the treatment that our legal system has given it, analyzing the treatment that our legal system has given him regarding the experience of the Games held in Lima in 2019, as well as other legal systems with the aim of establishing certain conditions for their viability. To that end, foreign and domestic doctrine, as well as national legislation and documentation, were analyzed, concluding that, being a modality that is configured under the same general guidelines as the Regime of the Law of Contracting with the State, its use is more inefficient in public investment projects involving the operation and maintenance of public infrastructure works, or the provision of public services.

Full textTourism index worldwide are increasing year after year (UNWTO, 2018), and with it the competition among cities around the world to attract tourists. To stand out among the sea of possibilities, some cities have used the tools of the commercial world to create a city brand concept that allows the development of the image they project in the minds of its inhabitants and visitors. This trend has been applied in several cities of the Latin American region. Currently, no city in Peru has a city brand developed and professionally driven under the focus of a strategic marketing plan. The plan proposed here suggests that the city of Lima should respond to this challenge with a renewed image with its own identity and coherent communication based on its main differential attributes: the gastronomic, the historical, the cultural, and the entertaining. This Strategic Marketing Plan aims for Lima the main tourist destination in the Latin American region. For this, the main objective of the plan will be to create the Lima City Brand and its launch during the realization of the XVIII Pan American Games and VI Parapan American Games. This sporting event, the highest in the Americas, where the bulk of tourists who visit Lima and Peru come from, will take place between July and August 2019 in the Peruvian capital. The success of the proposal will revolve around the generation of an emotional bond of identity and belonging by the inhabitants of the city, as well as the presentation of a new image of Lima to visitors from different parts of the world.

Full textThe Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games is a multidisciplinary event representative of the American continent. If a comparison is made with similar sporting events developed in other countries, beyond being an important sport activity, there is the opportunity to generate additional income, through the assignment of merchandising licensing rights. The purpose of this Strategic Marketing Plan is that the use of the Lima 2019 brand, through the transfer of merchandising license rights of the 2019 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games, will be an attractive option that gives added value to the participants of the process. Also, according to studies and research conducted, it is suggested that the organization of the event develop representative merchandising products that generate economic, social and emotional value. The plan aims to generate additional income to the organization, because the negotiations will be carried out with a minimum value guaranteed by the sale of merchandising products; in addition, the business unit responsible for the transfer of licenses has a low economic risk. The process of transfer of merchandising license rights can be done directly, that is, the licensor negotiates without intermediaries with the licensees; or indirectly, with the participation of a specialized licensing agency. In this SMP, it is suggested to hire a specialized and expert agency in the business of merchandising licenses in the sports industry. Likewise, this strategic plan seeks to achieve an efficient participation of licensees, in such a way that it generates more income for the Lima 2019 event organization; that is why it poses various strategies and control mechanisms to achieve the proposed objectives.

Full textThe performance of the Pan American Games Lima 2019, is a great opportunity for Peru, not only to allow it to be part of a major sporting event, but also to show all the benefits that the destination can offer in terms of tourism, gastronomy and culture. In the same way, the main objective seeks to generate a legacy for the local population and demonstrate what Lima 2019 represents in terms of the progress of the sport, knowledge of it and the values that these transmit to Peruvian society. The present marketing and communications plan develops the suggested strategies to achieve the success of the sporting event in the country. During chapters IV and V, the guidelines considered in the objectives, strategies and tactics used to generate effective communication in the segmented groups will be presented. In addition, it should be noted that it has been considered a social purpose, which is why an immediate return on investment is not sought, but if it manages to correctly disseminate the realization of the event and ensure the attendance of the Lima public to leave a legacy in the country that have an impact on future generations. Finally, certain proposals focused on advertising, content and media, for which strategies to encourage assistance to Lima 2019, should be disseminated.
