MemorIA generates animated digital portraits of historical figures, synchronizing facial expressions with synthesized speech to enable natural conversations with students. The system leverages NVIDIA Audio2Face for real‐time facial animation with first‐order motion model for portrait manipulation, achieving fluid interaction through low‐late

Land surface models such as the Joint UK Land Environment Simulator (JULES) are increasingly used for hydrological assessments because of their state-of-the-art representation of physical processes and versatility. Unlike statistical models and AI models, the JULES model simulates the physical water flux under given meteorological conditions, allowing us to understand and investigate the cause and effect of environmental processes changes. Here we explore the possibility of this approach using a case study in the Atibaia river basin, which serves as a major water supply for metropolitan region

Abstract Accurate Madden–Julian oscillation (MJO) prediction is important for estimating the magnitude of and preparing for upcoming extreme climate and weather events. Current methods for MJO prediction exhibit limited predictive skills due to inevitable bias. In this work, we devise an ensemble meritocracy strategy for deep learning-based bias correction for MJO prediction, namely MJO-Net. MJO-Net consists of two modules: a stochastic MJO prediction (SMP) module, which can generate thousands of stochastic predictions, and a skill evaluation (SEM) module, which selects the elite prediction me

AbstractEl Niño‐Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is the dominant atmosphere–ocean coupled mode of year‐to‐year variations in the tropical Pacific. It shows diverse spatiotemporal characteristics and casts major influences on seasonal predictions of global weather–climate extrema. Despite numerous dynamical and statistical models for ENSO prediction and predictability studies, they are commonly subjected to one‐to‐three issues among less skillful simulation of El Niño diversity, huge requirements of computational resources and a low robustness in statistics. Here, an efficient deep‐learning model in

In recent decades, the invasion of saltmarsh plant Spartina alterniflora (S. alterniflora) over a large part of coastal wetlands in China, including the Yellow River Estuary (YRE) as a regional economic hub and global ecosystem services hotspot, has caused increasing concern because of its serious threats to native ecosystems. During the same period, local authorities have implemented a Water-Sediment Regulation Scheme (WSRS) in the Yellow River for flood mitigation and delta restoration purposes. The altered hydrological regime has resulted in unintended changes to estuarine ecosystem. Howeve

As an adult, magic is typically seen as being “pure fantasy” (Rosengren and Hickling 75), while Bever argues that magic is something lost to time and materialism,
