Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Even during the first establishment of the Republic (with the expression of Balaban), "the science of spirituality (=psychology) that talks about the spiritual existence of man" has always been interesting by the writers of that period. Especially since the 1940s, in some scientific, moral, religious and literary journals published in Turkey, the views of Western psychologists such as Carl Gustav Jung, who are famous in the psychology of religion, were explained. In this research, it has been tried to analyze how C. G. Jung and his views are handled in these journals. The journals discussed in the research are as follows: "Sebilürreşad", "Muslim Voice", "Tawhid", "New Ground", "Orbit", "Academy", "Young", "Cultural World", "Monthly" and "Kur'ani Hayat”. In our research, the approach to Jung and his views in these examined journals was investigated and some results were obtained. Accordingly, Jung has a positive phenomenon accepted by the Islamic community, as some Islamic journals acknowledge that Jung is different from their peers”. All Islamic journals used Jung. Although some criticize Jung to strengthen their own claims by pointing to Jung's authority, he used Jung to "guide his target audience" because he considered it closer to Islamic understanding than his Western counterparts. Islamic journals never used Jung's concepts of "persona", "anima-animus" and "self" in their articles. But they gave a lot of place to Jung's concepts such as "religion", "God", "archetype" and "collective unconscious". Especially since they see the concept of “collective unconscious” as an Islamic value, they have embraced it more. Islamic journals acknowledge Jung as the "authority". While this "authority" is the "strengthener" of its own claims based on some Islamic journals, it is a "model" for some Islamic journals whose aspects should be taken in accordance with their worldview. It is clear that Islamic journals do not have a scientific style and purpose when using Jung. It was concluded that Islamic journals approached Jung's concepts in the form of "ethnocentric" and "circular reasoning". It has emerged that Islamic journals that act with the logic of "Take what works and leave what does not work" and those who defend Islamic psychology are similar to the logic of "take the positive side of the West that fits the Islamic perspective" to Jung and his views. Key Words: Islamic Journals, Carl Gustav Jung, Jung's Views, The Jungian Phenomenon, The Collective Unconscious, Document Analysis.

Abstract:

Hans Bender, German parapsychologist and professor at the Freiburg University, met with C. G. Jung on December 8, 1960. The discussion was recorded, and the transcribed version is available here for the first time in English. A key aspect of our article is a description of the phenomenon of synchronicity based on Hans Bender’s concrete experiences during a drive through Switzerland to an Eranos Conference in Ascona and further on to the Côte d’Azur for a workshop of the Parapsychology Foundation in August 1960. At the same time, his mother suffered a stroke, which caused her death shortly afterward. Bender was returning to Freiburg at the time when she died. He was familiar with the stages of his return trip from earlier trips. He had intensely emotional experiences at certain places, which he, in retrospect, interpreted as synchronistic in connection with his mother’s death. KEYWORDS C.G. As Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell note, archetypes, or general ideas of human types, strongly influence societies, particularly the heroic archetype. Since the 1890s mainstream cinema has facilitated the heroic archetype for worldwide audiences. This article argues that Paul Muni (1895-1967), Edward G. Robinson (1893-1973), and John Garfield (1913-1952) became the first important Jewish-American film actors to help develop the ambiguous heroic archetype in the United States’ studio system from 1929 through 1948 in two ways: Muni’s and Robinson’s critical performances in the 1930s and 1940s, particularly in gangster and film noir films, and Garfield’s films from 1946 through 1948.

Abstract April DeConick’s The Gnostic New Age demonstrates that scholarship of Gnosticism is still entrenched in an Eliadian phenomenological paradigm which essentializes an ahistorical sui generis “Gnosis”. This approach is traceable to the Eranos Circle, particularly Carl G. Jung and Gilles Quispel, and builds certain philosophical and psychoanalytical affinities into an ahistorical religious current. DeConick’ comparison with New Age is tenuous, and misses the important fact that Gnosticism and New Age share specific genealogical antecedents. Interdisciplinary work needs to pay more attention to the theological and colonial implications of categories, or such problematic categories will continue to take root in the gaps between academic specialisms.

Abstract:
This study answers two questions, namely (1) what situation and condition that arise archetype initiation; and (2) how is the implication of archetype initiation in child character education. The research approach is the archetype of initiation (psychoanalysis) referring to Carl G. Jung's theory. The data sourche is chosen using purposive sampling technique. The result shows that archetypes of initiation occured by "confronting" a problem with certain situation and condition that can touch character’s psychic. However, some other stories are done by direct conditioning of the character, namely by giving an acceptable advice for the characters. The archetype initiation of stories can be an inseparable part of character building for their readers (children). In addition, the story type can provide inspiration for parents and / or teachers in the process of child character education.

Abstract:
This study addresses four problems, namely (1) how Ayna overcomes unconsciousness in her; (2) how Ayna can protect her person from the personality that dominates her; (3) how Ayna overcomes the shadow side of herself; and (4) how Ayna gathered courage to face anima and animus in her. This study uses the psychoanalytic approach (archetype) proposed by Carl G. Jung which is related to self-authenticity (the self). Data validity is determined by the validity of the meaning. The analysis is carried out by means of understanding, heuristics, and hermeneutics and meaning to obtain inference according to the purpose of the study. In this study it was found that (1) Ayna represents personalunconscious to provide space for the entry of positive new impulses to encourage self-realization; (2) Ayna acts as a persona when her condition is pressed, namely by revealing her identity when being tried in a boarding school; (3) Ayna makes a harmonious blend or balance between things that are contradictory in her shadow; and (4) Ayna controls herself by suppressing all her shadows and animations to give space for animus emergence so that she can think clearly to save herself.

Abstract:
E. S. Stevens’s novel, The Mountain of God, is noteworthy because it records impressions of the Bahá’í community in ‘Akká and Haifa in 1911. This essay uses elements of Jungian literary criticism to point out how the novel’s two main characters are moving through the individuation process which could well lead them to acceptance of the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh. By employing symbolic language, Stevens demonstrates that these characters are evolving as a result of spiritual influences in the Holy Land. Jungian literary criticism, examining concepts developed by Carl G. Jung, attempts to explain the purpose of symbolic works of art in the psychic life of a society and their psychic significance. Such criticism seeks to add a new dimension to a piece of literature.

Abstract:
As we experience a paradigm shift into a media age, ICTs are altering the psychological parameters of human reality. The premise of this paper is that the psychological dynamics of interactive images projected as Media Dreams correspond with the psychological and structural dynamics of dream images as defined by Carl G. Jung. If this is true, images in the media—denominated “media dreams”—mirror patterns of energy and information in what Jung called the collective unconscious. Jung called dream images archetypal representations because they are relatively conscious projections of unconscious quantum/archetypal energy patterns which are structured as metaphorical drama. Ongoing cognitive research verifies that—indeed—the cognitive unconscious has the framework of metaphorical drama and that these story patterns correlate with energy patterns in the nervous system. (Lakoff, George, 2008, p. 23) Therefore, quantum, neurobiological, and media dimensions can be correlated—and coordinated using cognitive biofeedback. Fundamental to Jungian healing with dream analysis is the principle that dreams “have a purpose,” and that the purpose is the discovery of meaning through “compensation” or harmonization of conscious and unconscious psyche using biofeedback. Jungian compensation is a process (the Amplification Method) that defines an essentially coherent psychic state. Recent research on coherence confirms that coherent states “heal” and such states can be evoked with specific feedback technologies. Abundant research confirms that coherent psychological states increase emotional and perceptual stability as well as alignment among the physical, cognitive, and emotional systems. (McCraty & Childre, 2010) The author's hypothesis is that the images projected by information and communication technologies (ICTs)—the media dreams of a population—are subject to psychological analysis and compensation in order to disclose and address unconscious sources of psychological stress in contextual collectives. Coherence is the measurable quintessence of Reliable and Quality E-Healthcare.

Abstract:

Abstract:
It is not possible to determine whether Allah is inside the universe or outside it. While the traditional understanding is that Allah is “outside” the universe; the “inside” understanding is consistent with the Qur’ān as well as the writings of Carl G. Jung, Emile Durkheim, Abraham Maslow, and Philip Goff and can explain the concept and the writ of Allah to the modern mind. We hypothesize that Allah is the name given to the consciousness of every particle in the universe fused into One and called Universal Consciousness. The consciousness is not prior- or after matter but exists in parallel. There is a 2-way give-and-take between Allah and the Universe. The believers have a more direct communication with Allah. Allah rules upon the universe and, at the same time, Allah is constituted of the Collective Consciousness of the same universe. We show this hypothesis is consistent with al-Nūr 24:35 and Sūra al-Ikhlāṣ. This approach can be the foundation on which we can build a concordance between the understandings of Qur’ānic Allah and modern science, thus explain the majesty of Allah to the science-oriented modern mind including the atheists without diluting the spiritual content of the Holy Qur’ān.

Abstract:
The study analyzes the archetypal female figure present in the mythical narratives of Paiter Suruí, an indigenous people residing on the border between the states of Rondônia and Mato Grosso, in Brazil. For this, seven Paiter Suruí narratives presented in the book Vozes de Origem, a collection of stories narrated by Paiter Suruí indigenous peoples in their native language, the tupi-mondé,to the anthropologist Betty Mindlin, responsible for the translation into the Portuguese and organization of the book, are used as the data source. As a theoretical-methodological framework, the Analytical approach of Psychology is used from the concept of symbolic amplification proposed by Carl G. Jung (1875–1961) and elaborated as a method of analysis by Marie Louise Von Franz (1915–1998). The analysis course indicates the female archetypes existing in this culture through their mythical narratives, being predominant the Archetype of the Maiden, the Great Mother and the Fatal Woman. According to Analytical Psychology, it can be observed that the mythical indigenous narrative constitutes a coherent and organized sense of meaning about the psyche:unconscious processes are transposed into narratives, in which the female archetypal figure emerges as a representation of the figure of woman in Paiter Suruí society; and the mythical narrative as a representation of the indigenous cultural reality of this ethnicity, as well as a propagation of its values. Based on this assumption, the mythical narratives represent, through symbology, elements of meaning, such as the organization of the Paiter Suruí society, aspects that represent the feminine and the patterns of expected behaviors.

Abstract:
Abstract SPI1 (PU.1) is an ETS family transcription factor that plays a critical role in hematopoietic development and differentiation. Regulation of SPI1 expression has also been implicated in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) oncogenesis, though its mechanism is incompletely understood. Previously we have identified and characterized a series of novel dual inhibitors of the SMARCA4/SMARCA2 ATPases (also referred to as BRG1/BRM), critical components of the BAF (mSWI/SNF) family of chromatin remodeling complexes; and FHD-286, a related SMARCA4/SMARCA2 ATPase inhibitor, is currently being explored clinically for the treatment of metastatic uveal melanoma and AML (NCT04879017 and NCT04891757). Here we show that AML cell lines are sensitive to BAF ATPase inhibition, resulting in both cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. We demonstrate that BAF ATPase inhibition primarily affects the SPI1 transcriptional profile by regulating SPI1 genomic occupancy at various enhancer elements, resulting in downregulation of key target genes. Using in vivo mouse models of AML, we demonstrate dose-dependent tumor growth inhibition and pharmacodynamic modulation of SPI1 target genes. Together, these data suggest that modulation of SPI1 function may, in part, provide a mechanistic basis for the clinical development of FHD-286 in AML. Citation Format: Gabriel J. Abstract:
This paper tries to comprehend Hindu narrative of creation in the framework of modern cosmology and psychology. The objective is to build a conversation for mutual understanding. The following concordance between the two streams is suggested. The state of the Primeval Being before It desired to become many is not known in the Hindu stream just as the state of the universe before the Big Bang is not known in the modern stream. The Primeval Being desired to grow according to the Hindu stream. Modern psychology says there is an innate desire to grow among human beings that we extrapolate backwards to suggest that the Singularity desired to grow. The Brahman pervades the entire Universe according to the Hindu stream. The panpsychists hold that every particle in the universe has consciousness. Brahman is the fused consciousness of all the particles in the universe according to the Hindu stream. In parallel the panpsychists hold that the fused consciousness is more than the sum of the parts. The collective consciousness of a subset of the universe is “devta” according to the Hindu stream. This concords with the “unconscious substrate” created in social organizations according to modern psychology. The collective consciousness of individuals having their consciousness at the Vishuddhi, Manipur and Anahata chakras is known as Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. These concord with the collective consciousness of individuals who have evolved to the needs of cognition, belonging and esteem according to Abraham Maslow. The devtas can descend into a living person who is then called an avatara. This concords with the descent of the libido into the unconscious as said by Carl G. Jung. In conclusion, Hindu Brahman is modern God. Hindu devtas are modern gods. Hindu avataras are modern individuals in whom the gods have descended. In this way we can make the Hindu cosmology understandable to the modern mind and vice versa.

Abstract:
This study aims at analyzing The Persona and The Shadow in two literary works, Shatterday a by Harlan Ellison and Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk which show the mental disorders of the main characters. Sometimes, some people are confused with what happen in their life and it makes them create a “new” personality to “explain” and express what they feel. In these literary works, the main characters “use” other personality to express their feeling and make them realized with the reality. This study is conducted to enrich the topic about persona and shadow. The writeruses qualitative approach in relation to the use of clear and systematic description about the phenomena being studied and used psychoanalysis as the main theory of Carl G. Jung. The data are collected from two literary works, Shatterday and Fight Club .This study reveals that the persona and the shadow in the stories are almost different. The persona is the same person that is confused with their life. Novins, in Shatterday, is a man who lives alone in his apartment and always run from his true life. Novins would not face anything with a realistic mind and he prefers to create someone that he thinks he is an ideal man. That is Jay. Meanwhile in Fight Club, the narrator creates someone who can give him a satisfaction and can be a savior to help him escape from his boring life. That is Tyler Durden. The arrangement of these two stories is almost same. Novins tries to make a peace with the shadow and he surrendered with his shadow, in a good way, means that Novins willing to give his body and his life to Jay, in order to became a better person. Whereas the narrator try to make a peace with his shadow because of he thinks that what the shadow has done is wrong.

Abstract:
According to the life mission theory, the essence of man is his purpose of life, which comes into existence at conception. This first purpose is always positive and in support of life. This is not in accordance with the everyday experience that man also engages in evil enterprises born out of destructive intentions. This paper presents a theory about the evil side of man, called the anti-self (the shadow), because it mirrors the self and its purpose of life. The core of the anti-self is an evil and destructive intention opposite to the intention behind the life mission. The evil side of man arises when, as the life mission theory proclaims, man is denying his good, basic intention to avoid existential pain. The present theory of the anti-self claims that all the negative decisions accumulated throughout the personal history, sum up to a negative or dark anti-self, as complex, multifaceted, and complete as the self. All the negative decisions taken through personal history build this solid, negative, existential structure. The anti-self, or shadow as Carl Gustav Jung used to call it, is a precise reflection of mans basically good and constructive nature. When mapped, it seems that for most or even for all the many fine talents of man, there is a corresponding evil intention and talent in the persons anti-self. As man is as evil as he is good, he can only realize his good nature and constructive talents by making ethical choices. Ethics therefore seem to be of major importance to every patient or person engaged in the noble project of personal growth. Understanding the nature and structure of the evil side of man seems mandatory to every physician or therapist offering existential therapy to his patient. The theory of anti-self makes it possible to treat patients with destructive behavioral patterns, who want to be good deep in their heart, by helping them let go of their evil intentions. The anti-self also seems to explain the enigma of why human beings often commit suicide. Integrating the shadow often leads to dramatic, subjective experiences of ubiquitous light in an unpersonal form, of enlightenment, or of meeting light and consciousness in a personal, universal form, known as G-d.

Abstract:
Introduction: Bilirubin is a frequently ordered investigation in neonatal intensive care units and out-patient practice during follow- up. The gold standard for its estimation is serum bilirubin which is invasive resulting in parenteral apprehension, pain, discomfort and iatrogenic anaemia in a neonate, while the non-invasive measurement by transcutaneous bilirubinometer is not available in all the centres because of its cost. Biliscan is a smartphone application that uses a phone’s inbuilt camera and a colour calibration card to detect neonatal jaundice. We compared bilirubin measured by Biliscan with reference to serum bilirubin among neonates admitted to a tertiary care centre. Methods: We conducted an observational study from June-2019 to September-2019 at a tertiary care centre in Hyderabad, India. Inborn neonates (greater than > 35 weeks gestational age at birth, and less than a week old) who required bilirubin estimation, underwent both invasive serum sampling and non-invasive estimation by Biliscan. Photograph of the baby’s chest was captured using the colour calibration card of the Biliscan application. Bilirubin values derived from the Biliscan application were compared to those derived from blood samples. Results: A total of 143 neonates were enrolled. The mean bilirubin value estimated by serum sampling was 11.9 g/dl against 13.1 g/dl of that derived from smartphone application. Biliscan and serum bilirubin showed moderate agreement with a correlation coefficient of 0.6. Bland- Altman plot constructed showed bias of 1.1 with the limits of agreement ranging from -3 to +5.3. Biliscan had a good sensitivity of 90% in identifying high levels of serum bilirubin (> 95th percentile on Bhutani nomogram). Conclusion: Biliscan application is a non-invasive, real-time, inexpensive and an easily available method that cannot replace serum bilirubin, however can complement and has the potential to help in screening neonates thus facilitating recognition of jaundice early and minimising the number of invasive pricks.

Clinical features and associated features were recorded at the time of admission. Oxygen saturation was recorded by a pulse oximeter. Results: Fatality was observed to be 39.3% in mildly hypothermic babies, 51.6% in moderately hypothermic babies and 80% in severely hypothermic babies. However, the presence of associated illness (birth asphyxia, neonatal sepsis and respiratory distress), physiological derangements (hypoxia, hypoglycemia and shock) and weight less than 2000 g were associated with more than 50% fatality even in mildly hypothermic babies. When moderate hypothermia was associated with hypoxia or shock, the fatality was 83.3% and 90.9%, respectively. Similarly, mild hypothermia with hypoglycemia was associated with 71.4% fatality. Conclusion: The presence of associated illness (birth asphyxia, neonatal sepsis and respiratory distress), physiological derangements (hypoxia, hypoglycemia and shock) and weight less than 2000 g should be considered adverse factors in hypothermic neonates. Their presence should classify hypothermia in the next higher category of severity in WHO classification. JNGMC Vol. 14 No. 2 December 2016, page: 8-11

Abstract:
Manure is a fertilizer derived from animal manure, which can improve the structure of peat soil and provide nutrients for lettuce plants (Lactuca sativa L.). Peat soil is a type of soil that has many obstacles in cultivation including acidic pH, low nutrient availability such as N, P, and K. Manure can be used in solid and liquid forms. This study aims to determine the dosage and the appropriate way of giving chicken manure to the yield of lettuce and the nature of the soil after being given chicken manure. This research has been carried out from April to June 2018 on experimental land, Agronomy Laboratory. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 7 treatments namely without fertilizer application (control), 37.5 g solid fertilizer of chicken manure, 75 g solid fertilizer of chicken manure, 112.5 g solid fertilizer of chicken manure, 37.5 g of solid fertilizer thawed chicken manure,75 g of solid fertilizer thawed chicken manure, 112.5 g of solid fertilizer thawed chicken manure. The results showed that 112.5 g solid manure from chicken manure was the appropriate dose to increase the growth of lettuce plants, namely plant height (15.48 cm), leaf width (11.60 cm), number of leaves (11.00 strands), weight plant (37.83 g), weight root plant (3.48 g), and increasing the total N content of the soil (0.40%).

Abstract:
This retrospective study evaluates the effect of a telemedicine program developed in the central Catalan region in lowering the environmental footprint by reducing the emission of atmospheric pollutants, thanks to a reduction in the number of hospital visits involving journeys by road. Between January 2018 and June 2019, a total of 12,322 referrals were made to telemedicine services in the primary care centers, avoiding a total of 9034 face-to-face visits. In total, the distance saved was 192,682 km, with a total travel time saving of 3779 h and a total fuel reduction of 11,754 L with an associated cost of €15,664. This represents an average reduction of 3248.3 g of carbon dioxide, 4.05 g of carbon monoxide, 4.86 g of nitric oxide and 3.2 g of sulphur dioxide. This study confirms that telemedicine reduces the environmental impact of atmospheric pollutants emitted by vehicles by reducing the number of journeys made for face-to-face visits, and thus contributing to environmental sustainability.

Abstract:
Isolated bilateral absence of radial artery in association with other congenital anomalies, together named VACTERL (vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, tracheo-esophageal fistula, renal anomalies, and limb abnormalities) is a very rare phenomenon. We report a patient, known to have VACTERL association, and who presented with ESRD. He was on hemodialysis and had been subjected to multiple failed tries at vascular access due to congenital bilateral absence of radial arteries and other vascular anomalies. This case report highlights hemodialysis options in congenital bilateral absence of radial artery and probable VACTERL association showing superiority of arteriovenous fistula despite its accompanying complications. Abstract:
OBJECTIVES: To establish standardized, rounded doses of medications for neonates in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) through a multi-institutional peer-reviewed process. METHODS: Pediatric faculty and pediatric pharmacy residents from the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy (Piscataway, NJ) conducted a systematic review of rounded, weight-based medication information for neonatal patients from September 2010 to April 2011. After initial review, an expanded workgroup of expert neonatal pharmacy clinicians from academic institutions throughout the United States were invited to conduct a final review. The workgroup identified 74 medications or indications in the NICU. Recommended standardized doses were established for discrete weight categories at workgroup consensus web meetings conducted from June to December 2011. Workgroup recommendations were cross-referenced with published neonatal pharmacology resources. Consensus was obtained when references provided insufficient information on medication information. RESULTS: Seventeen weight categories of increasing ranges were used, from 40 g for the lowest weights (e.g., 410–450 g) to 840 g for the highest weights (e.g., 3660–4500 g). Medications were divided into 3 categories of administration routes: oral (n = 4), intermittent intravenous (n = 64), and other (e.g., intramuscular; n=6). A significant majority of standardized doses (84%) were within 15% of their corresponding weight-calculated dose. CONCLUSIONS: Establishment of a portfolio of standardized, rounded doses of medications commonly used in the NICU was feasibly established by a multi-institutional peer review process, with the great majority of standardized doses being within clinically acceptable ranges of administration. Use of standardized, rounded doses for reduction in dosing errors may be feasible on a systematic level.

Abstract:
The author uses case studies to illustrate the effectiveness of two techniques which pastoral caregivers may teach to family carers of dementia patients. In the last stages of dementia, it is important to seek meaning and keep in significant contact as long as possible, both for family members as well as for the dementia patients. After a brief literature review, implications for care theory, practice, and policy are reviewed, and a scientific bias is illustrated. These techniques build on the work of C. G. Jung and James Hillman, utilizing metaphor in non-rational uses of language. It is suggested that pastoral caregivers could teach these techniques to families of this population, in the hope of prolonging meaningful connection with their loved one.
