Abstract:
Nadra Assaf from Lebanon and Heather Harrington from the United States are dancers, educators, scholars and choreographers who believe in the power of the body for communication, intersectional feminism and sociopolitical movement. They came together, virtually and in real life, to create hybrid performances investigating what it means to be a female in the twenty-first century through the lens of their respective countries utilizing a feminist social constructionist perspective. They initiated new ways to choreograph birthed out of who they are, their geographical separation and their sociopolitical environments. Engaging in autoethnography, they analyse their creative process and choreographic work to extrapolate observations from personal and social spheres. Their theoretical application examines connections, reflections and interactions through an intersectional feminist lens. Data collection comes from the retro(in)spection of journals, video recordings, e-mail correspondences, recordings of conversations and interviews with viewers of their work. Their practice-led research opens doors to Jungian dream analytic tools and Barad’s diffraction theory to help reveal meanings behind their choreographic work. They believe their choreographic strategies can be applied outside of their unique collaboration, specifically relating to the present interconnected virtual world thus revealing new ways of creating.

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to summarize the artistic language and image characteristics of Leonora Carrington, the Muse of the 2022 Venice Biennale, through the analysis of her works in an exhibition of "mysterious world" from women's pen, and then to study the artistic expression forms of women's images in contemporary illustrations. Leonora Carrington is a typical representative of surrealism. In his works, in addition to focusing on the "spiritual automation" of the subconscious and dreams, he also integrates Celtic culture, Renaissance paintings, Central American folk art, medieval alchemy and Jungian psychology. Most of his works focus on the half human and half animal images in the natural environment, and the combination of various wild animals. With the softness of women, they are merged into sacred and bizarre "magic temples". At the same time, it explores the themes of identity and gender, feminism and so on.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article follows the critical lines of new historicism, feminism, psychoanalysis and performance studies so as to reveal Webster’s challenge of the conventional gender roles via the binary opposites of speech and silence. Within the context of new historicism, I contend that Webster’s The Duchess of Malfi (1613–1614) comments on the corruption and abuse of absolute political power within the reign of King James I and the Catholic Church through the figures of Ferdinand (the head of the state) and the Cardinal (the head of the Church). Contrary to the new historicism’s conception of all-encompassing ideology, Webster attributes male figures’ loss of control over their voices and the movement of the plot to their aural closure to the Duchess’s moral speech. Following the methodology of feminism, I argue that this tragedy enacts an inversion of gender roles with respect to discourse. Webster associates the Duchess of Malfi’s voice and silence with honesty and dramatic authority and her tyrannical brothers’ voices with incestuous and murderous desires. Drawing on Freudian and Jungian concepts of psychoanalysis, I propose that Ferdinand and the Cardinal whose voices are associated with murderous and incestuous desires are linked with the psychic zone of the id while the Duchess, who expresses and acts on her sexual desire within the sphere of marriage, is linked to the ego, the reality principle. Her appearance as an echo in the tragic closure reveals her progression towards perfection, the superego. While Ferdinand’s misogyny is a projection of his unconscious sexual desire towards his sister, his madness is a sign of incestuous frustration. At a meta-theatrical level, I argue that this subversion of gender roles via the binary opposites of embodiment and disembodiment and silence and speech is linked to theatrical performance. Webster shows that the boy actor impersonating the Duchess’s voice and silence appropriates masculine agency while male figures’ voices are linked to madness and lack of subjectivity.

Abstract:
The article deals with the concept of archetypes by K. G. Jung in the context of M. Atwood’s The Penelopiad and M. Miller’s Circe, which represent feminist revisionist mythology tradition. The study focuses on exploring the transformation of the Jungian archetypes of the figures of Penelope and Circe in Atwood and Miller’s novels. The author argues that while in original myths Penelope and Circe represent the archetypes of Mother and the feminine representation of Wise old man, in the novels Penelope’s archetype transforms into Mask, and Circe starts representing Mother archetype. The author comes to the conclusion that such transformation is a result of Atwood and Miller’s dealing with feminist agenda as well their attempt to present different sides of female experience, making mythological figures closer to real women.

Abstract:
The article presents the feminist discourse on Lilith and asks why she has returned to the centre of activity and creation? It begins with Lilith’s Integrative Myth – a description of the classic Lilith myths – whilst trying to define her image’s central characteristics. Following, I offer one integrative myth: a complex essence that contains contrasts, and stems from a variety of sources, each contributing to the formation of Lilith’s story’s numerous aspects. Lilith’s Revival is discussed, surveying the different ways in which Lilith appears in today’s feminist spiritual discourse, while presenting some of the ways in which her story is re-interpreted and used towards contemporary feminist needs. A feminist Jungian outlook on Lilith’s Myths is included, deciphering Lilith as a symbol of the life-death-life cycle, which leads to a summary of the Jungian analysis’ implications.

Abstract:
There is a problem with western patriarchal capitalist narratives of love and connected models of subjectivity which some feminisms, in particular, neoliberal (post)feminism, continue rather than criticise. This is a problem, not only because these feminisms uphold existing patriarchal structures and values, but because models of patriarchal subjectivity are founded on a repression and devaluation of love that contributes to what I am naming a ‘crisis of love’ in neoliberal societies. While some solutions to this problem have been offered, including by feminist love studies scholars, none of the solutions address the whole issue – for example, feminisms that ignore issues of spirituality and the female subject’s relationship to the divine, and the impact of myth on the psyche. Until these aspects are included in a rethinking of both female subjectivity and narratives of love, the problem will not be solved. There are many kinds of love but Eros in particular, which is such a charged narrative in western patriarchal capitalist society, is the kind of love that most urgently needs to be rethought and re(dis)covered. Through examination of the major founding myth of female subjectivity for western patriarchy – the Madonna/whore binary – a pathway to addressing this problem of love becomes possible. Rethinking this binary according to reinterpretations of the myths of Aphrodite and Demeter offers a rethinking of Eros as a creative, life-affirming power. This renewed narrative of Eros creates new models of female subjectivity – and the potentiality for new models of ethics – that challenge the contemporary neoliberal paradigm.

Abstract:
In this study, we aim to weave a perspective, like a big patchwork quilt, to indicate possible meanings for sewing, embroidery and weaving, using, of the analytical psychology of Carl G. Jung as our fabric background. We comment some academic research on such activities in different times and contexts, some myths and tales, materials related to groups of women, facts with social-political content and data from a webpage with the theme of sewing. We seek to highlight different possibilities by which the symbolic attitude can be present in these activities, especially considering a society which is extremely patriarchal, which silences and diminishes handcraft, women and the feminine principle. We connect, by the thread established by the symbol and the transcendent function, textile and text and questioned ourselves about the peculiarities of contemporary life, strongly marked by abstractions and virtualities. We think over the creative aspects of the experiences of sewing in different contexts and on what can be considered its reinvention nowadays, including a symbolically dimension ruled by the thread of Eros without losing the possibility of reflection on the wireless reality of the virtual man

Abstract:
This thesis sought to understand the separation from a love relationship as experienced by middle-aged women related to the individuation process through experiential group work in the focus of Analytical Psychology. The method used in the research was qualitative, under a symbolic archetypal perspective. Eight group meetings were held with seven participants aged from forty to fifty-five who were undergoing separation from love relationships. Expressive resources, tales and myths were used in the group in order to favor the symbolic development. The material gathered showed a large diversity of experiences in relation to the loss, such as feelings of sadness, solitude, distress, anger, wishes of revenge, a feeling of emptiness and derangement. A common matter expressed by the participants was the feeling of loss of identity in the past relationship or as a result of the separation. It was identified that this loss was associated to unconscious contents projected in the partner and in the conjugality that had not yet rejoined their consciousness. It was verified that, in some cases, the identity was grounded on the symbiotic relationship had with the partner. To recognize the anger that was in the shadows of the relationship, to bring in the projections deposited in the partner and have to face solitude revealed to be opportunities of differentiation that are necessary for the individuation process. The referential of myths and tales was used in the understanding of the data, in order to establish some expansions and analogies. Some feminine archetypal standards were shown to be activated or neglected in the psyche of the participants: betrayal turned some women into an angry and vengeful Hera, while Aphrodite looked abandoned by the lack of interest for new relationships expressed by some participants. On the other hand, the separation constellated archetypes of more independent goddesses in some women who invest on their career and education. It was noted that the thematic of the descent to the underworld expressed in the myths of Inanna and Core-Persephone was constellated on the depressive life experience of some participants, a necessary experience for the elaboration of mourning and rooting into their feminine Self, symbolized by the meeting with the dark goddess repressed in the patriarchal culture. The experiential group was shown to be efficient to favor the elaboration of mourning for the loss of their love mate through the creation of a ritual space, allowing the constellation of a new coniunctio. The expressive resources and tales and myths used facilitated the symbolic expression and mobilized the healing forces of the psyche to start the healing of the wounds caused by the loss. The group demonstrated an appropriation of their own trajectories of life, allowing them to take responsibility for the individuation process. New studies are suggested, as well as the development of experiential group work with women and man to handle the separation from love relationships in clinical settings and health institutions, seeking to contribute to the gender relationship area.

Women have been fighting for recognition for a long time, whether within their homes or in other contexts of society, such as for political representativeness or in the labor market. Work has represented an important factor in the construction of contemporary women’s identity, often playing a key role in their daily life. The aim of this dissertation was to weave a Jungian approach of the feminine and of women and investigate how these relate within the scope of the labor market, a highly important social sector in contemporary life. To this end, a qualitative research design was adopted. Analytical psychology was used as the theoretical framework. Thus, the ontological perspective that grounds this study is based on the assumption that psychic reality is expressed through images and symbols. Data analysis was conducted through a symbolic understanding of the content of the speech and drawings of seven women inserted in the labor market in leadership positions, between 28 and 40 years old, results which were correlated with Jungian theory. Some central ideas were formulated as result of the analysis: the feminine appears in the discourse of the participants as a group of aspects, such as: caregiving, sixth sense, and the ability to multitask. However, other characteristics normally associated with the masculine were cited as feminine, such as planning. Many conflicts and much suffering that emerged from the workplace such as moral and sexual harassment, and discrimination, were strongly associated by the women with Brazilian culture; motherhood was presented as a conflict-introducing element in relation to a women’s professional identity. On telling their stories, they contributed to the construction of the knowledge lapidated here in this study. They pointed to the possibility of realizing themselves as women in the context of aspects considered masculine, presented new configurations of expressions of what they call “feminine,” and indicated the need to be seen as having potential to achieve under any circumstance. Analytical psychology and the clinical context, linked to profession’s ethical commitment, enables and fosters fertile ground for new configurations and demands to be embraced, reflected about, cared for and transformed into action in the world, by means of those who appropriate these increasingly wide-reaching changes

Abstract:

The aim of this dissertation is to understand the expression of the feminine retracted in the work Dom Casmurro (1899) by Machado de Assis, through the analysis of the characters of the book, their psychic dynamics and the relationship between man and woman. The dissertation was conducted based on Jungian approach and was used a qualitative research methodology. The book Dom Casmurro has been read and mapped to perform the synopsis and analysis of its characters and contexts. The analysis was divided into three stages and was focused on the feminine characters, the matter of the anima to the male characters and the relationship between Capitu and Bentinho. The research suggests that the patriarchal culture in Brazil of the nineteenth century, femininity and masculinity could not be fully lived, with both women and men wearing a mask for the expected socially to their genders inhibiting deeper experiences of their personalities. In this way aspects of femininity in women characters and aspects of the anima in men had little chance of integration, hindering gender relations. We can think that today are still present the same issues relating to women, since it is a process that is not yet completed in the society
