Juvenile delinquency has improved by 65 percent from 1980 through 2016. The criminal justice system has explored various means of treating juvenile delinquents over the years to improve recidivism rates and to give youth a rewarding adult life. Most juvenile delinquency programs use a Usual Community Service (UCS) treatment method while the youth are incarcerated or immediately after release. UCS uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques to help the juvenile link their thoughts and behaviors. Crimes committed by juveniles today continue to grow, as well as various law enforcement approaches. Juveniles as legal subjects have special attention not only in matters of children’s rights but also in the punishment of children. Various crimes committed by juveniles occur a lot and lead to no longer what is called juvenile delinquency, but a serious crime. The Child Protection Act and the Child Criminal Justice System Law explicitly regulate the protection of children’s rights in the context of human rights. Progressive Era campaigns to establish juvenile courts maintained that police and criminal courts failed to distinguish between children and adults. They suggested that law enforcement agencies either sentenced juveniles as if they were adults, imposing excessive punishments, or let kids go, failing to discipline them and encouraging them to commit further crimes. However, this case study of juvenile arrests in turn-of-the-century Detroit indicates that, before the creation of juvenile court, criminal justice institutions had more complex interactions with delinquent youth than has been recogn

The article presents current tendencies related to juvenile delinquency in Ukraine based on data from the 2016–2017 period. Quantitative juvenile delinquency indices differ substantially from quantitative adult crime indices. This is primarily caused by the fact that the former apply to a four-year period (14–18 years of age), while the latter apply to the period after reaching the age of majority. Differences between juvenile and adult crime also manifest in the form of e.g. the nature and degree of social harm inflicted by the crimes, which is determined by the age of the perpetrators. Their
