Abstract:

One of the arguments for supposing that the ‘world's earliest printed book’, the Diamond Sūtra in the Stein collection in London, is actually the outcome of a long process of development relies on the very high quality of the images contained in the frontispiece. It is possible, of course, to point to much more crudely formed Buddha images stamped on paper from the same source at Tunhuang, but the dated examples that have been studied are actually later than the Stein Diamond Sūtra itself.1 The practice of printing Buddha images on paper and silk in India is attested in 792 by the Nan-hai chi-kuei nei-fa chuan of I-ching who was in India 673–85, and Paul Pelliot for one was prepared to believe that this practice, using Chinese materials, was originally derived from China itself.2 Frustratingly enough, however, no Chinese source has so far been identified which clearly mentions printing on paper at any point earlier than I-ching's text, which itself does not antedate by more than half a century or so the earliest printed materials we actually possess, notably in the form of a dharaṇī from Korea.3

Abstract:

Abstract Given rapid development of new agents to treat lymphoid malignances, including CLL, and that the number of potential combinations increases exponentially, the field is faced with deciding which combinations to test clinically. Pre-clinical data may be helpful, but has limitations. There is growing interest in in silico simulation of clinical trials to guide such decisions. Such simulations, if they demonstrate fidelity to pre-clinical and clinical data, offer potential for accelerated pre-clinical testing and enormous cost savings. They also permit tailoring of combinations, dosing and scheduling to individual patients; i.e., "personalized medicine". Our previous simulations of lymphoma addressed combination therapy (Weiss RF et al PLoS One, 2012), effects of immune response, and transformation (Weiss RF et al PLoS One, 2015). Recently (Smith & Weiss Leuk Res 2018) we modeled pre-existing therapy-resistant clones in CLL to optimize incorporation of ibrutinib into bendamustine-rituximab chemoimmunotherapy backbone, aimed at maximizing efficacy while minimizing drug exposure with its attendant toxicity and cost. Here we model "chemotherapy-free" approaches to therapy of CLL. Methods: The model requires derivation of these values: K*, ratio of malignant cell death to birth rates, related to aggressiveness of the disease; K', a measure of the efficacy of each single agent that affects either birth (ibrutinib) or death (venetoclax) rates, K", a measure of the efficacy of directly cytotoxic agents. For example, to combine ibrutinib + venetoclax, K'C / K* = [K'v / K*] [K'i / K*] Results: Utilizing data from follicular lymphoma cells grown in mice (Bodo J et al Oncotarget 2016), we derived single agent parameters for venetoclax (K'V) and rituximab (K'R) that best matched the data. We then predicted the efficacy of the combination (K'C) using those parameters and found a good fit to the experimental data. For derivation of ibrutinib (K'I) we applied the data of Woyach, Bojnik et al (Blood 2014) on ibrutinib treatment of TCL1 transgenic mouse CLL model. We can now predict efficacy of 2- and 3-drug combinations of these agents, currently tested as "chemotherapy-free" regimens. The model predicts synergy in CLL control. We can also model intermittent therapy, stopping treatment after ~ 15 months and noting approximately a 15 month treatment-free interval before the CLL would require therapy again. These periodic applications can be repeated to maintain control of CLL. The model, using the single agent parameters derived above, predicts that addition of rituximab to ibrutinib-venetoclax will prolong survival of treated TCL1 mice; this is a testable prediction. As patients have multiple clones of varying sensitivity to treatments, the model predicts that clones sensitive to both drugs are most easily eliminated, while clones resistant to one of the drugs need to be more sensitive to the single active drug in order to be controlled long term. Thus, clones that progress on novel-novel combination therapy will be resistant to one agent, but still may retain moderate sensitivity to the other agent. The model predicts that addition of rituximab to the other 2 drugs from the beginning of therapy can, somewhat counterintuitively, actually control a pre-existing resistant clone for a prolonged period. Discussion: The parametric model needs to be more fully validated with data for other agents in other CLL (or lymphoma) model systems, and then demonstrate that it can reliably predict combination therapy outcomes. Once that has been shown, benefits of modeling combination therapy based on single agent derived data are the ability to quickly and inexpensively investigate in silico various combination, sequential and/or intermittent therapies. This can then aid selection of treatment strategies to be tested in animal models, and those most likely to be successful when tested in clinical trials. This will enhance the success rate of such trials, permitting more rapid advances with fewer patients exposed to less active strategies, saving patient resources and cost. Another potential application is to apply this method to clonal evolution data in sequential blood samples of individual patients with CLL, or to PDX models of lymphoma, to permit truly personalized alterations in treatment based on which clones become dominant. We plan to further develop the requisite mouse models to validate our approach. Disclosures No relevant conflicts of interest to declare.

Construction of existing highways in Indonesia generally use flexible pavement, with the main material being asphalt. To increase the asphalt pavement resistance to the traffic load and the temperature is required asphalt modification one of them with substituted asphalt with resin sap. The purpose of this study was to see the impact of sap resin substitution into the asphalt pen. 60/70 to Marshall characteristics of AC-BC mixture. The first step of this research is to find the optimum bitumen content (KAO). After obtaining KAO then made the manufacture of the test object without and with the substitution of the percentage of resin sap percentage of 6% on the weight of the asphalt. From the results of research conducted found that the value of Density, VFA, and MQ decreased. While the value of VIM, VMA, and Flow has increased. At the value of Durability obtained at KOO 0% gum rosin of 97%, and increased in KOO 6% resin gum of 102%. For the Stability value of AC-BC with the substitution of resin sap decreased. Thus All marshall test methods with results obtained, other than VIM values have met the specification requirements by DGH 2010 revision 3 (2014).

Abstract:

U ovom radu predstavljena je konstrukcija i evaluacija Testa homofobije koji u sadržinskom smislu objedinjuje dosadašnja znanja i ideje o prirodi ovog fenomena. Test homofobije (H25) sastoji se od 25 stavki u formi tvrdnji kojima je pridružena petostepena skala Likertovog tipa. Na uzorku od 476 ispitanika proverene su psihometrijske karakteristike testa i njegova faktorska struktura. U celini test pokazuje dobre psihometrijske karakteristike (KMO = .99, α = .97). Faktorskom analizom ekstrahovana su dva visoko korelirana faktora, koja su interpretirana kao „homoseksualnost kao pretnja za društvo” i „homoseksualnost kao pretnja za mene”. Takođe, test je pokazao zadovoljavajuću konvergentnu validnost spram dve alternativne mere homofobije, kao i visoku predikciju diskriminatornih stavova prema osobama homoseksualne orijentacije. Dodatno, pokazano je da homofobija, merena konstruisanim instrumentom, ima veći broj socio-demografskih i personalnih korelata. Homofobiji su sklonije osobe muškog pola, religiozne osobe, osobe konzervativne političke orijentacije, zatim osobe koje imaju manje kontakta sa homoseksualnom populacijom, i osobe nižih skorova na dimeziji Otvorenosti, a viših na dimenziji Savesnosti. U celini, konstruisani instrument predstavlja pouzdanu i validnu meru heteroseksualnog stava prema homoseksualnoj populaciji, te predstavlja ekonomičan instrument pogodan za primenu, kako u istraživačke tako i u praktične svrhe.

Abstract:

Kéo is an Austronesian language spoken by approximately 40,000 speakers in central Flores in eastern Indonesia. Hitherto, Kéo has been linguistically undescribed. The data for this article comes from linguistic fieldwork undertaken by the author with native Kéo speakers on the islands of Flores and Bali in Indonesia, and in Canberra, Australia. Other, written sources include (Baird 2001) and (Baird 2002). Kéo has been said to belong to the Ende-Lio languages of the Bima-Sumba subgroup of the Central Malayo-Polynesian branch of the Austronesian family (B. Grimes 1988, C. Grimes et al. 1997). The Central/Eastern Malayo-Polynesian grouping has been proposed by Blust, but this is not strongly supported by the comparative method. Likewise, there is very little evidence to support the notion of a Bima-Sumba subgroup at this stage. Much more linguistic work needs to be undertaken in the region before precise genetic relationships can be established.

Abstract:

Five ketenes, phenyl(ethyl)ketene, phenyl(methylthio)ketene, diphenylketene, pentafluorophenylketene, and 1-naphthylketene, were generated flash photolytically and solvent isotope effects (H2O vs. D2O) on their hydroxide-ion-catalyzed hydration in aqueous solution were determined. The values obtained are all weakly inverse and closely similar (kHO/kDO = 0.76-0.97), as expected for these fast, hydroxide-ion-consuming reactions, known to proceed by nucleophilic attack of hydroxide on the ketene carbonyl group. The characteristic magnitude of these isotope effects should prove useful in identifying new examples of this reaction.Key words: ketenes, flash photolysis, photo-Wolff reaction, solvent isotope effects on hydroxide ion consumption.

Abstract:

Lukan iz Budakova ‘Ognjišta’ zadovoljava veći dio kriterija koje pred vodećeg junaka postavljaju Mieke Bal, Lynette Porter i William Faulkner. Učenost mu svakako nedostaje, a djelovanje prema vlastitim uvjerenjima biva dvojbenim i upravo stoga poticajnim problemom. Lukan se žrtvuje ako je potrebno, inteligentan je i mijenja strategiju u hodu, razvija se i stalo mu je do obitelji. Glede Faulknerovih zahtjeva on jest sućutan i ustrajan, a ima i elemente požrtvovnosti. Bitno je međutim što je ovaj lik nazočan u cijelom tijeku fabule romana i što on zadaje smrtni udarac antagonistu. S njegova stajališta ‘Ognjište’ prelazi iz tragedije u obredni tekst i konačno u romansu. Roman u potpunosti slijedi ustroj koji je moguće izvesti na temelju Fryeovih obilježja ovoga žanra u ‘Anatomiji kritike’. Lukan kao glavni junak spašava svoje ognjište pomoću Anere, onda je u svoju zadrugu prepisao i Blažićeve unuke, na kraju romana ubija neprijatelja, a selo Sveti Rok ostaje nerazoreno. Ne nedostaje ni mlada koju kao junak romanse mora na kraju zadobiti: više je puta naviješteno da bi to mogla biti upravo Blažićeva udovica Manda. Konačno, Lukan u sebi sažima obilježja cijeloga niza Budakovih junaka pa biva seljak, svećenik i ratnik, a spaja i elemente muških i ženskih likova iz svoje sredine.

Abstract:

AbstractEquational theories that contain axioms expressing associativity and commutativity (AC) of certain operators are ubiquitous. Theorem proving methods in such theories rely on well-founded orders that are compatible with the AC axioms. In this paper, we consider various definitions of AC-compatible Knuth-Bendix orders. The orders of Steinbach and of Korovin and Voronkov are revisited. The former is enhanced to a more powerful version, and we modify the latter to amend its lack of monotonicity on non-ground terms. We further present new complexity results. An extension reflecting the recent proposal of subterm coefficients in standard Knuth-Bendix orders is also given. The various orders are compared on problems in termination and completion.

Abstract:

Filozofija 21. stoljeća dužna je preispitati fundamentalne pojmove na kojima je zasnovana kako bi se utvrdilo je li povijesni tijek utjecao na promjenu u njihovoj biti i utjecaju. Jedan od takvih pojmova je pojam stvaralaštva koji se od još od starogrčke epohe vezuje za poietičku filozofiju. Neophodno je postaviti pitanje o tome je li još uvijek opravdana podjela prema kojoj je stvaralaštvo sfera ποίησις ili se stvaranje sâmo u tolikoj mjeri promijenilo kroz povijesna kretanja da je potrebno iz temelja ponovno odrediti ne samo njegov pojam nego i sfere njegova utjecaja. Kroz proces takvog ispitivanja važno je ukazati na autore koji su (na različite načine) smatrali da upravo ono stvaralačko fundira pojam čovjeka, kao i na one autore koji su upozoravali na takvu mogućnost. Razlika između starogrčkog τέχνη i suvremene tehnike, razlika između čovjeka kao zoon politikon i zoon technikon te razlika u određenjima pojma stvaranja otvaraju bitno pitanje: je li problem stvaralaštva toliko temeljan da je zbog njega neophodno preispitati filozofiju jedne epohe u cjelini?

Abstract:

U studijama o filmu pokazuje se prekretnim to što Deleuze sintetički povezuje rasklopljenu »bit« metafizike kao ontologije (bitak – bog – svijet – čovjek) s novim pristupom ne samo kretanju pojma, govoreći hegelovski, nego i mišljenju kao događaju. Isto još više vrijedi za razumijevanje onoga što traje u vremenu i stoga ima karakter misaone slike. Kako autor pokazuje u članku, Deleuze nju uspostavlja tako što mozak postaje ekran, a film iz sfere tzv. realiteta postaje virtualni kôd svijeta kao slike. Između koncepta i slike dokida se razlika kada slika više ne prethodi pojmu i kada pojam više ne prethodi slici. Koliko je ovaj obrat presudan za Deleuzeovo shvaćanje filma može se uočiti u izvedbi pojma događaja (événement). Slika i pojam odgovaraju singularnosti događaja. Problem s razumijevanjem Deleuzeove »ontologije slika« pokazuje da film ne možemo svesti na autonomnu proizvodnju kinematičkoga načina mišljenja ako prethodno ne razjasnimo što je to uopće pokret i kako nastaje slika. Film je u tom paradigmatskome slučaju ne samo »vizualni kôd« suvremene umjetnosti. Njegova se »bit« razotkriva u tome što omogućuje da slika-pokret i slika-vrijeme sintetički realiziraju mogućnosti tehnosfere kao: (1) računanja, (2) planiranja i (3) konstrukcije. Naposljetku, filmsko mišljenje koje Deleuze zagovara postaje pitanje o mogućnostima da film kao metafilm dosegne novu razinu filozofijskoga razmatranja onoga što postaje i nastaje novim sklopom odnosa između bitka i događaja.

Abstract:

Reformom školstva i prelaskom osnovnog obrazovanja u devetogodišnje osnovno obrazovanje, po prvi se put u proces nastave uključuju i djeca s posebnim potrebama. Još mnogo više i mnogo prije nego u općem obrazovanju u likovnom odgoju i obrazovanju se postavljaju brojni odgojni ciljevi, koji obuhvataju široki raspon od poticaja psihomotornog razvitka pa do estetske osjetljivosti i njezina emocionalnog korelata.' Već nekoliko godina terapeutska zajednica kao oblik liječenja i druženja djeluje na Odjelu neuropsihijatrije Kantonalne bolnice „Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić“, kao i održavanje umjetničke radionice i izložbe pod nazivom „Bojom i riječima iz srca i duše“. Pacijentima je omogućeno da kroz umjetničko djelovanje dopru do bržeg ozdravljenja, ostavljajući iza sebe zanimljiva likovna i literarna djela. Budući da su pacijenti naslikali veliki broj slika, Odjel neuropsihijatrije je u saradnji Muzeja USK-a, organizirao izložbu pacijenata terapeutske radionice „Bojom riječima iz srca i duše“. Prema riječima dr. Elvira Selimbegovića, načelnika odjela neuropsihijatrije: „Cilj izložbe je da se pacijenti osim procesa liječenja uz stručne ljude i medicinsko osoblje okrenu široj društvenoj zajednici u cilju lakše resocijalizacije.“ Druga grupu čine djeca sa posebnim potrebama. Udruženje roditelja, djece i omladine s posebnim potrebama „u sklopu svojih programskih aktivnosti sve češće organizuju umjetničke radionice" art terapije na kojima se djeca kroz metode igre uspijevaju spontano i slučajno likovno izraziti. Koordinacija oka i ruke poneku tehniku škropi, a zatim prskanje ili oblikovanje boja i forme, zapravo pokazuje da su djeca puna volje i mašte.Emocije i crtanjeEmocija nas vodi i potiče na aktivnost. Motivacija učenika može se postići aktiviranjem pozitivnih emocija. Emocije, uzbuđenje, osjećajnost, ljubav i estetska osjećanja, gotovo su uvijek prisutni u dječjem likovnome stvaralaštvu. Odsutnost pozitivnih emocija izaziva opadanje intenzivnosti rada, ritma za krvotok, disanja, endokrinog sistema. U nastavi se često zaboravljaju emocije. To najviše ovisi o nastavniku i njegovoj sposobnosti aktiviranja učenika a ponekad i od samoga raspoloženja učenika. Želja mi je skrenuti pažnju na značaj umjetnosti u liječenju duševnih bolesti i sve veću potrebu u afirmaciji kreativnosti

Abstract:

Avtorica v prispevku obravnava mentorstvo kot eno najučinkovitejših oblik individualnega izobraževanja. Pod drobnogled vzame odnos med mentorjem in učencem ter ugotavlja, da je kakovost neformalnega mentorskega odnosa veliko večja kot kakovost formalnega mentorskega odnosa. Prav tako v prispevku, ki temelji na podatkih iz raziskave, navaja pogoje, ki so potrebni, da nastane neformalni mentorski odnos, in navsezadnje odgovarja tudi na vprašanje, kakšne lastnosti ljudje pričakujejo od svojega mentorja. Kakšen je torej lahko osebnostni profil neformalnega mentorja? S tem delno odgovarja tudi na vprašanje, kdo je dober vodja, za katerega danes vemo, da je v prvi vrsti predvsem dober mentor. Neformalni mentorji, od katerih so se ljudje veliko naučili, so bili predvsem njihovi prijatelji, prijateljice (80 odstotkov), posamezni učitelji, če so se z njimi zbližali (65 odstotkov), zakonski partner(-ica) (50 odstotkov) in sodelavka, sodelavec (42 odstotkov). Pri nastajanju mentorskega odnosa sta bila v izhodišču znanje in strokovna podkovanost druge osebe (29 odstotkov odgovorov), se bolj pa so bile pomembne osebne lastnosti mentorja (71 odstotkov). Raziskava je odkrila, da so le določeni ljudje lahko mentorji. Kat glavno lastnost mentorja so vprašani izbrali: zna poslušati, razume drugega, sprejema drugega, je empatičen. Vsi brez izjeme so se oprli na to lastnost. Druga lastnost (53 odstotkov), vendar mnogo manjkrat izbrana kot prejšnja, je bila: je prijazen, simpatičen, prijateljski, topel, prijeten, človeški. Enako pomembno se jim zdi, da je mentor odprt, iskren in širok. Pri takem mentorju menijo, da bi lahko hitro napredovali (ali pa so nekoč prej v življenju) in bi se nanj zares navezali na poti do znanja.
