Abstract:
A flavonoid compound in flavonol type namely kaemferol was isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of the methanol extract of the fern Chingia sakayensis (Zeiller) Holtt's leaves. The DPPH free radical scavenger activity of kaemferol was stronger than buthyl hyroxy toluene (BHT) but it was weaker than ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and -tocopherol (vitamin E). Abstract:
It has been separated a flavonol 3,5,7,4'-tetrahydroxy flavone (kaemferol) from the methanol extract partitioned by ethyl acetate of the leaves of the fern Chingia sakayensis (Zeiller) Holtt. This was obtained as yellow crystals with m.p. 271-273oC. Characterization of its molecular structure was carried out by spectroscopic methods (UV, IR, 1H-NMR, HMQC, HMBC, 13C-NMR and FABMS). Abstract:
The larvicidal potential of extracts from Myxopyrum Serratulum was evaluated against larvae of Aedes aegypti. The results from the present study showed that the petroleum ether and methanolic extract from M. Serratulum exhibited significant toxic effects against Ae. aegypti larvae with LC50 value of 134.2 μg/ml and 172.47 μg/ml, respectively. Two compounds myxopyroside (1) and kaemferol (2) were isolated from methanolic extract. However, the synergetic effect of Kaemferol with Phenolic compound of methanolic extract shows higher larvicidal activity than petroleum ether extract.

A new kaempferol glycoside, kaempferol 3- O-α-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-glucopyranoside-7,4’-di- O-β-glucopyranoside (1) was isolated from the flowers of Clematis cultivars ‘'Jackmanii Superba'’ and ‘'Fujimusume'’, together with the known compound kaempferol 3,7,4’-tri- O-β-glucopyranoside (2). The chemical structures of the isolated kaemferol glycosides were established by UV, 1H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy, LC-MS, and characterization of acid hydrolysates.

Phytochemical investigation of the leaves of Pometia pinnata resulted in the isolation of a new triterpenoid saponin (1), together with a known compound, kaemferol 3- O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (2). The structure of 1 was established as 3- O-[α-L-arabinofuranosyl-(1→4)–α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-α-L-arabinopyranosyl]-hederagenin. The structure elucidation of the isolated compounds was based primarily on 1D- and 2D-NMR techniques, including 1H and 13C NMR spectra, DEPT, and by 2D COSY, HMQC, HMBC and TOCSY experiments.
