在過去大多數文學史的論述中,王闓運由於摹擬漢魏六朝文學的復古主張而被視為是晚清保守派人物,其文學思想的價值意義及其背後的現實關懷都被輕易忽略,沒有得到足夠的重視。在學界逐漸承認古典文學與現代文學並非截然斷裂、古典文學更是現代文學在草創階段重要的借鑒資源時,對於王氏文學思想似乎也可以提出新的評價。通過對王闓運文學思想的剖析,可以發現,他的文學除了是與當時眾多文學話語的對話之外,還包含他的經學思想和現實關懷,在晚清文化轉型時期的大背景下,王氏看似復古守舊的取態,實際上在對文學與個人、文學與政治關係的思考上體現了一定的超越性,甚至可以與五四以後的現代文人達成相似的共識契合。全文共分六章。第一章為緒論,交代研究動機及思路。第二章在說明王闓運對駢散之爭的取態之外,同時探討其學術思想與文論之間的關聯,指出王氏通經自治的思想迥異於當時的致用思潮,同時也反映在他的文論之中。第三章以王氏的「文情說」為主線,探討他與鄧輔綸和袁枚的詩學對話,由此還原王氏文情說的建構過程及闡釋其內涵意義,說明王氏對創作的關注聚焦於如何處理文學藝術和個人情感的關係。第四章通過比較王氏與道咸宋詩派的詩學異同,由此說明王氏試圖將宋明理學的道德詩學排除在他的文學思想之外,視詩歌為個人陶冶性情的藝術。第五章由王氏在學術和文學思想上提出的「為己為人」之辨展開,由此了解其文學思想背後批評文學為政治服務、士人追求名利等現實關懷,而他在肯定文學的獨立價值,以及批評道德及政治文學的取態上與五四文人也有一定程度的契合。第六章為結論。Abstract Wang Kaiyun has been labeled as a 槍conservative" for his literary acclamation in most research of literary history. Therefore, his literary concern on the problems of society has not been attended much in the relevant studies. This dissertation focuses on the theme of Tradition and Modernity, uncovering his literary thought in the cultural transitional era on the one hand, and on the other, giving efforts to explain his transcendental consciousness over the relation between individuality and literature, literature and politics. In his literary dialogue with other literary contexts, his seemingly conservative acclamation is in fact thought-provoking for the contemporary as well as the following May-Fourth cultural movement. This dissertation consists of six chapters. The first chapter introduces research motive and methodology. The second chapter focuses the relation between Wang Kaiyun's literary theory and thoughts apart from his attitude toward the two literary types of prose and essay. The third chapter explores his poetic dialogue with Deng Fulun and Yuan Mei by tracing his Wen Qing Shuo(theory on the literary sentiments), in order to restore the process of theoretical formation as well as the connotation interpretation. The following chapter compares and contrasts Wang's poetic theory with the School of Song Poetry in Dao, and confirms his acclamation on the function of poetry as way of feeling expression. Wang Kaiyun rejects the authority of Song-Ming Confucianism in poetry, and insists that poetry be the art for cultivating human mind. Chapter five focuses on Wang's philosophical idea of Wei Ji versus Wei Ren(for self-versus for others), uncovering the value of his humanity concern for the following May-Fourth cultural movement. The last chapter is the concluding part.

Abstract:
The thesis analyses a problem of improving the work environment and all the sections of an organisation. In the first part, the genezis, methods, theory and practical examples of Kaizen philosophy and 5S method are presented. In the second part, there is an instruction to make a system of presenting proposals of employees and the possible forms of its realisation. I dealt with assessment and finacial valuation of the given proposals. Finally, I propose documents for keepimg standards and increasing efficiency of the 5S method in a certain workplace.

Firstly, the word KAIZEN is analysed in a theoretical part of this Master Thesis and the individual structures in organizations are described in next chapter. The requirements of relevant standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, OHSAS 18001) are introduces, too. An audit, its types, sorts and processes of it are explained at the end of the theoretical part. A practical part contains “A project university - certifying authority – organisation”. The project deals with student´s involvement into the internal audits of selected organizations and gaining knowledge of audit processes. The project deals with competence evaluation of the internal audits´ implementation, too.

Abstract:
Theoretical part of this diploma thesis describe Kaizen method and parts of this method, which was developed in Japan after the Second World War. One part of this method is the 3MU concept, that includes definition of absences which influence all companies. One concept of the 3MU is “Muda”, who indicate waste. Practical part is interesting in wastes in sphere of productivity at one of the production department of the Bosch Diesel Ltd. in Jihlava. Individual operations of this department are considered in light of possibility introduction of more-machine operation and the checking of necessity of some machines. As a result is time data evaluation by REFA method and check of possibility introduction of more-machine operation with modification of working processes, calculation of industrial production capacity of some machines and the definition of buffer stocks. This modification of working processes, number of machines and the definition of buffer stocks needs change of layout of production department. At the conclusion there are calculated final costs and savings for implementation of this project.

O presente trabalho propõe alcançar um aumento de produtividade e consequente redução de custos e desperdícios ajudando o departamento logístico da Empresa Revigrés – Industria de Revestimentos de Grés, Lda, a tornar-se mais eficiente, através da aplicação da filosofia kaizen que propõe melhorias no desempenho por implementação de pequenas ações. O objetivo deste projeto é a melhoria do departamento logístico globalmente, para isso houve o recurso a pesquisas e levantamento de métodos e ferramentas existentes, o que tornou possível encontrar soluções para proceder às melhorias relativamente ao armazenamento, recolha de produtos e arrumação. Através do levantamento e análise de alguns dados, relacionados com todos os fluxos que o armazém possui, foi possível definir um layout de armazém que possibilita uma maior produtividade e melhor ocupação dos espaços, reduzindo assim alguns custos e eliminando algumas fontes de desperdício. No seguimento do método PDCA, a base da filosofia Kaizen, procedeu-se primeiro ao planeamento para posterior tomada de decisões, verificações e testes e assim realizar as alterações de alguns fluxos analisados, isto através da aplicação de algumas metodologias Kaizen como os 5´s que não só tornou possível a redução de espaços de algumas áreas analisadas como também foi percetível a diminuição de desperdícios e erros, isto tudo levará ao aumento de produtividade e redução de custos neste setor.
The present work aims to achieve an increase in productivity and consequent cost reduction and waste helping the department's logistics of Revigrés - Industria de Revestimentos de Grés, lda, to become more efficient through the application of the kaizen philosophy which proposes improvements in performance by implementing small actions. The objective of this project is to improve the overall department’s logistics for this was the use of research and survey of existing methods and tools which made it possible to find solutions to make the improvements regarding the storage, collection and storage of products. Through the survey and analysis of some data related to all flows that the store has, was possible to define a warehouse layout that enables greater productivity and better occupation of space, thereby reducing some costs and eliminating some source of waste. Following the PDCA method, the basic philosophy of Kaizen, proceeded first to the planning for future decision making, checks and tests and thus make the changes of some flows analyzed, this by applying some kaizen methodologies like 5’s that not only made possible the reduction of spaces in some areas was also analyzed as a noticeable decrease in waste and errors, all this will lead to increased productivity and reduced costs in this sector.

The aim of the study was to support the ongoing kaizen work at a medical centre. Two main topics have been addressed in this study: • Find a solution to ensure that the kaizen decisions are followed and will get a strong grip in the organisation. • Support the kaizen process by giving advice on how to structure the meetingsand how the kaizen work could be done more effectively. The study started with a visit to the medical centre to observe the kaizen process and the attitudes among the employees. The employees were asked to fill in a survey about the kaizen work at the centre. The final recommendations given have been based on this and also information gathered from other medical centres which work after the same kaizen principles. The recommendations for the two topics mentioned above mainly suggested a better documentation standard and 5S on the kaizenprocess at the medical centre.

Tiivistelmä. Tutkimus käsittelee liikuntaa alakoulussa opettavien opettajien liikunnan oppilasarvioinnissa käyttämiä menetelmiä ja osa-alueita. Tavoitteena oli selvittää mitkä asiat vaikuttavat liikunnan oppilasarviointiin alakoulussa, minkä painoarvon opettajat antavat millekin liikunnan arvioinnin osa-alueelle ja mitä menetelmiä opettajat käyttävät arviointitietoa kerätessään. Tutkimuksen kohteena olivat myös selvittää opettajien mielipiteitä arvioinnin haastavuudesta. Tutkimuksessa pyrittiin selvittämään myös onko opetuskokemuksella ja koulutustaustalla vaikutusta arviointiin. Lisäksi tutkimuksessa selvitettiin, miten opettajat kokevat mahdollisen lisäkoulutuksen tarpeen arvioinnin kokemiseen liittyen. Oppimiskäsityksen muuttuessa behavioristisesta kohti kognitiivista myös arvioinnin luonne on muuttunut. Arviointi nähdään prosessina, joka on osana kaikkia oppimisen ja opettamisen vaiheita. Sillä nähdään olevan vaikutusta oppilaan oppimiseen ja oppimisprosessin kulkuun. Liikunnan opetuksen keskeinen tavoite on liikunnalliseen elämäntapaan kasvattaminen ja tässä myös arvioinnin merkitys korostuu. Kokonaisuudessaan arvioinnin tavoitteena on tukea oppilaan kasvua ja kehitystä. Opettaja tekee arviointiaan oman persoonansa myötä, jolloin opettajan arvot, ihmiskäsitys ja oppimiskäsitys vaikuttavat työskentelyn taustalla. Tutkimuksen kohdejoukkona olivat Kainuun alueen alakoulujen liikuntaa opettavat opettajat. Kyselyn vastaajajoukon koko oli 86 kappaletta kahdeltakymmeneltäyhdeksältä koululta. Kyselyyn vastasi 53 naista ja 33 miestä. Tutkimus toteutettiin kvantitatiivisesti, jota laajennettiin avoimilla kysymyksillä. Kyselylomakkeessa oli yhteensä kymmenen kysymystä, joista seitsemän oli monivalinta- tai suljettuja kysymyksiä ja kolme avoimia kysymyksiä. Aineisto kerättiin keväällä 2012 postikyselynä. Analysointimenetelminä tutkimusongelmiin vastattaessa käytettiin frekvenssianalyysia, keskiarvoa, keskihajontaa sekä Spearmanin järjestyskorrelaatiokerrointa. Avoimia kysymyksiä luokiteltiin aihealueittain, joista etsittiin täydennyksiä opettajien antamiin vastauksiin kvantitatiivisten kysymysten lisäksi. Tutkimuksen tuloksista kävi ilmi, että tutkimuksessa esitetyistä liikunnan oppilasarvioinnin osa-alueista opettajat painottivat eniten kiinnostusta ja asennetta sekä liikuntataitoja. Pienin painoarvo oli puolestaan liikuntatiedoilla. Arviointimenetelminä opettajat käyttivät eniten selkeästi eniten havainnointia ja tarkkailua. Arviointimenetelmistä vähiten opettajat käyttivät työssään portfoliota, kirjallisia liikuntatietoja mittaavia kokeita ja toveriarviointia. Tutkittaessa opettajan työkokemuksen ja koulutustaustan mahdollista yhteyttä arvioinnin kokemisen helppouteen ja haastavuuteen ei löytynyt yhteyttä. Suurin osa opettajista koki, ettei lisäkoulutukselle ole tarvetta. Tutkimuksesta kävi ilmi, että opettajat toivoisivat arvioinnin olevan tasapuolista niin paikkakuntakohtaisesti kuin valtakunnallisella tasolla.

A Manufatura Enxuta está baseada nas práticas do Sistema Toyota de Produção. O principal objetivo deste é reduzir e eliminar perdas a fim de deixar a organização mais ágil e flexível, conseqüentemente mais competitiva. É importante deixar claro que para a implantação das práticas de chão de fábrica da Manufatura Enxuta é necessário um sistema de gestão da introdução destas práticas, sendo que este sistema de gestão deve ser planejado com base em um método que facilite a introdução das práticas e a sustentação dos resultados. Em geral as empresas estão utilizando o método Gemba Kaizen (GK) para tal. Este método deve se munir das principais práticas da ME focado na eliminação de desperdícios através do envolvimento das pessoas. A premissa do método Gemba Kaizen é de que irá se realizar um Evento no Gemba (chão de fábrica) para se obter um Kaizen (mudança para melhor). O modo como este Evento se dará é o que está sendo abordando nesta dissertação de mestrado, chamado de método para o Evento Gemba Kaizen. O cerne do método para o Evento Gemba Kaizen é o envolvimento das pessoas na busca de melhorias voltadas aos pilares de entrega, qualidade e custo. O método propõe eventos que tragam resultados de uma forma rápida a baixo custo e que envolvam a todos, incluindo a alta administração. O método proposto vem sendo testado em uma grande empresa e está demonstrando excelentes resultados, onde já foram realizados enumeras aplicações, e criou vida própria, pois tem sido procurado por todos os níveis para realização de melhorias. The Lean Manufacturing is based on the Toyota Production System. The main objective of this is to reduce and to eliminate wastes in order to leave the organization most agile and flexible, consequently more competitive. It is important to say that for the implantation of Lean Manufacturing#s practical ones in the soil-of-plant, a system of management to introduce these practical is necessary, being that this system of management must be planned being based on a method that the introduction of the practical ones facilitates and the sustentation of the results. In general the companies are using the method Gemba Kaizen (GK) for this. This method must be used main the practical ones of LM, centered in the elimination of wastefulnesses through the envolvement of the people. The premise of the Gemba Kaizen#s method is of that an Event in the Gemba (plant soil) will be become fullfilled to get a Kaizen (change for better). The way as this Event will be given is what it is being approaching in this master#s dissertation, called method for the Gemba Kaizen#s Event. The heart of the method for the Gemba Kaizen#s Event is the envolvement of the people in the search of improvements, directed to them pillars of delivery, quality and cost. The method suggests events that bring resulted of a fast form, low cost and that they involve to all, including the high administration. This method comes being tested in a great company and it is demonstrating excellent results, where already some applications had been carried through, creating proper life, therefore has been looked for all the levels for accomplishment of improvements.

O presente relatório foi elaborado no âmbito de um estágio curricular, de forma a cumprir os requisitos para a obtenção do grau de Mestre em Gestão na Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de Coimbra. A entidade onde decorreu o estágio foi a Plural-Cooperativa Farmacêutica Crl, empresa do setor de distribuição farmacêutica sediada na zona de Coimbra. A sua duração foi de quatro meses e meio, mais precisamente, dezoito semanas. Teve início a 3 de fevereiro e fim a 8 de junho do mesmo ano, 2015. A logística é uma das áreas mais importantes de uma organização. Proceder ao seu melhoramento é um trabalho árduo e que deve ser feito ao longo de toda a vida da empresa. O tema abordado neste relatório vem ao encontro da metodologia de melhoria contínua, que nasce a partir dos princípios de Kaizen e é desenvolvida pelo Kaizen Institute, sendo chamado o modelo Total Flow Management. Através deste relatório, são explicados diversos conceitos que contribuem para a melhoria do processo logístico. Assim, são apresentadas várias sugestões de melhoria, baseadas nestes conceitos, de forma a dar um contributo à empresa de acolhimento, para o aumento da produtividade e diminuição de custos.

Abstract:
DNA sequence alignment is a fundamental task in gene information processing, which is about searching the location of a string (usually based on newly collected DNA data) in the existing huge DNA sequence databases. Due to the huge amount of newly generated DNA data and the complexity of approximate string match, sequence alignment becomes a time-consuming process. Hence how to reduce the alignment time becomes a significant research problem. Some algorithms of string alignment based on HASH comparison, suffix array and BWT, which have been proposed for DNA sequence alignment. Although these algorithms have reached the speed of O(N), they still cannot meet the increasing demand if they are running on traditional CPUs. Recently, GPUs have been widely accepted as an efficient accelerator for many scientific and commercial applications. A typical GPU has thousands of processing cores which can speed up repetitive computations significantly as compared to multi-core CPUs. However, sequence alignment is one kind of computation procedure with intensive data access, i.e., it is memory-bounded. The access to GPU memory and IO has more significant influence in performance when compared to the computing capabilities of GPU cores. By analyzing GPU memory and IO characteristics, this thesis produces novel parallel algorithms for DNA sequence alignment applications. This thesis consists of six parts. The first two parts explain some basic knowledge of DNA sequence alignment and GPU computing. The third part investigates the performance of data access on different types of GPU memory. The fourth part describes a parallel method to accelerate short-read sequence alignment based on BWT algorithm. The fifth part proposes the parallel algorithm for accelerating BLASTN, one of the most popular sequence alignment software. It shows how multi-threaded control and multiple GPU cards can accelerate the BLASTN algorithm significantly. The sixth part concludes the whole thesis. To summarize, through analyzing the layout of GPU memory and comparing data under the mode of multithread access, this thesis analyzes and concludes a perfect optimization method to achieve sequence alignment on GPU. The outcomes can help practitioners in bioinformatics to improve their working efficiency by significantly reducing the sequence alignment time.

The main topic of this thesis is an optimization of chosen manufacturing process using the application of selected method. The theoretical part describes in detail components and issues that are related to the chosen Kaizen-method, whose implementation in the manufacturing process can have by proper grasp a significant impact on objectives achieving. Use of methods that bring manufacturing companies great potential for streamlining and optimization of manufacturing processes is nowadays essential for preserving the competitiveness. In the practical part the first analysis of the current selected process was made. In this analysis several serious deficiencies was found. It was subsequently suggested an optimal solution, that uses the selected method. For proposed solution were simultaneously necessary investment defined, without which no process can be changed. After consultation with the management of the company was this change approved and it was subsequently successfully applyed in the production process.

Kussakin taajamassa keskuspysäkin optimaalinen sijainti määritettiin paikkatietoperusteisella saavutettavuusanalyysillä. Saavutettavuusanalyysin tuloksia verrattiin keskuspysäkkien nykyisiin sijainteihin. Näin muodostettiin näkemys saavutettavuuden kannalta parhaasta sijainnista. Lisäksi Sotkamon taajaman kohdalla tutkittiin mahdollisuutta muodostaa usean keskuspysäkin malli ja suoritettiin optimointi koko taajama-alueen pysäkkiverkolle. Tutkimuksessa saavutettavuutta tarkasteltiin taajamassa ja sen lähellä asuvien ihmisten näkökulmasta. Liikkumismuotoina saavutettavuusanalyyseissä olivat kävely ja pyöräily. Saavutettavuusanalyyseissä aineistona käytettiin kansallista Digiroad-tietojärjestelmää (tieverkko ja pysäkit), YKR-ruutuaineistoa 250 m x 250 m ruutukoossa (väestö) sekä YKR-taajamarajausaineistoa. Tutkimuksen saavutettavuusanalyysit suoritettiin ArcMap-ohjelmiston Network Analyst -lisäosaan sisältyvällä Location-Allocation-työkalulla. Lisäksi saavutettavuuden tarkastelussa hyödynnettiin saman lisäosan Service Area -työkalua. Location-Allocation-työkalua käytettiin valitsemaan optimaalinen keskuspysäkin sijainti annetuista ehdokaspisteistä. Pääsääntöisesti ehdokaspisteinä toimivat taajamien nykyiset linja-autopysäkit. Pysäkkien puutteen takia Suomussalmen kirkonkylässä ehdokaspisteet luotiin keinotekoisesti. Analyysissä parhaaksi sijainniksi valikoitui ehdokaspisteistä se, joka oli tieverkkoa pitkin parhaiten saavutettavissa väestöpisteistä. Optimointi suoritettiin kaksi kertaa, tarkastellen ensin saavutettavuutta kävellen ja sitten polkupyörällä. Sotkamon taajamassa tutkittiin useamman keskuspysäkin mallia valitsemalla ehdokaspisteistä ensin kaksi ja sitten kolme keskuspysäkkiä. Lisäksi optimoitiin Sotkamon taajaman koko pysäkkiverkko valitsemalla nykyisistä pysäkeistä ja keinotekoisesti luoduista ehdokaspisteistä parhaan kattavuuden tarjoava yhdistelmä. Suuressa osassa taajamista nykyisen keskuspysäkin todettiin olevan varsin hyvin sijoittunut. Myös optimointivaraa kuitenkin löydettiin. Keskuspysäkin sijainnilla havaittiin olevan suurempi merkitys kävelyn kuin pyöräilyn näkökulmasta. Sotkamon taajamassa päädyttiin suosittelemaan kahden keskuspysäkin mallia. Sotkamon taajaman koko pysäkkiverkkoa tarkasteltaessa huomattiin, ettei pysäkkien sijaintien optimoinnilla päästäisi juurikaan nykyistä parempaan pysäkkiverkon kattavuuteen. Toisaalta, mikäli pysäkit sijoitettaisiin optimaalisesti, nykyisen kaltainen kattavuus voitaisiin taata myös pienemmällä määrällä pysäkkejä.

This research presents results from a multi-site field study of 51 Kaizen event teams in six manufacturing organizations. Although Kaizen events have been growing in popularity since the mid 1990s, to date, there has been no systematic empirical research on the determinants of Kaizen event effectiveness. To address this need, a theory-driven model of event effectiveness is developed, drawn from extant Kaizen event practitioner articles and related literature on projects and teams. This model relates Kaizen event outcomes to hypothesized key input factors and hypothesized key process factors. In addition, process factors are hypothesized to partially mediate the relationship between input factors and outcomes. Following sociotechnical systems (STS) theory, both technical and social (human resource) aspects of Kaizen event performance are measured. Relationships between outcomes, process factors and input factors are analyzed through regression, using generalized estimating equations (GEE) to account for potential correlation in residuals within organizations. The research found a significant positive correlation between the two social system outcomes (attitude toward Kaizen events and employee gains in problem-solving knowledge, skills and attitudes). In addition, the research found significant positive correlations between the social system outcomes and one technical system outcome (team member perceptions of the impact of the Kaizen event on the target work area). However, none of the three technical system outcomes (employee perceptions of event impact, facilitator ratings of event success and actual percentage of team goals achieved) were significantly correlated. In addition, the research found that each outcome variable had a unique set of input and process predictors. However, management support and goal difficulty were a common predictors of three out of five outcomes. Unexpected findings include negative relationships between functional diversity, team and team leader Kaizen event experience, and action orientation and one or more outcomes. However, many of the findings confirmed recommendations in Kaizen event practitioner articles and the project and team literature. Furthermore, support for the mediation hypothesis was found for most outcome measures. These findings will be useful both for informing Kaizen event design in practicing organizations and for informing future Kaizen event research.

Thus by being quick at meeting new market conditions and customer needs. To achieve superiority, kaizen is a suitable tool to use. The kaizen-philosophy comprises to constantly make improvements in everyday work and require commitment from all parties in a company. Some improvements work advantageously occasionally while others give good and long lasting effects. It may be difficult for organizations to maintain the results of kaizen improvements and the effects may diminish some time after implementation. Generally for companies that work according to the philosophy is that some improvements are implemented without adequate guidance and resources. This results in frustration since the improvements do not remain successful. Whether a kaizen-improvement implementation is successful has many influencing factors. In order to investigate this problem, Scania has been studied in regard of the company's good experience in applying the kaizen-philosophy. Previous research and literature have been investigated in order to support and analyze the topic. Thus, this study's research question is "What factors affect success and survival in implementation of a kaizen-improvement?". 5 Purpose:​ The purpose with this case study is to create a profound understanding of underlying factors which are critical for implementing kaizen-improvements and its further survival. Thus to understand what characterizes an successful implementation of kaizen-improvements. By successful kaizen improvement is meant an improvement that is standardized and becomes a beneficial part of the company. Method: ​This thesis is based on a qualitative research strategy. The research design is a single case study with semi-structured interviews as a method for the empirical material that has been collected. Conclusion: ​In the implementation process ten successfactors were identified in three different areas where Scania experienced difficulties with kaizen. In the first area, difficulties were due to cheating in the preparation stage. Here, the following successfactors were identified: An accurate and favourable current situation analysis, communication of the current situation and a good competence assessment. The second area was due to difficulties in implementing new working methods. Here, the following successfactors were identified: Communication of goals, employee training and favourable follow-up. The last area was due to difficulties in motivation employees. Here, the following successfactors were identified: Commitment and participation, responsibility, avoiding guilt and good leadership.

Organizational communication research indicates group member participation increases as the legitimate power differences among group members decreases. Lean principles and practices indicate Kaizen Event members will contribute regardless of legitimate power levels, due to member training, education, and the Lean team-oriented culture. Further study is needed to determine if Lean culture and training maximize group member contribution, or if legitimate power levels in Lean environments manipulate participation. The focus of this case study is a central Kentucky Lean manufacturing organization that practiced Lean principles for at least three years and completed a Kaizen Event within twelve months previous to the beginning of the study. The participating organization indicated the legitimate power levels of Kaizen Event members. Kaizen Event members received a voluntary survey consisting of Likert scalescored questions regarding his or her perceptions of level of participation, encouragement and opportunity to participate, comfort in participating, and the degree the group listened to the member. The results of the survey indicated participation in the Kaizen Event groups did not significantly differ among different legitimate power levels.

I en allt mer globaliserad värld ökar konkurrensen då fler företag ska tävla om de kunder som efterfrågar de produkter som erbjuds. Den ökande globaliseringen medför dock inte enbart negativa effekter för företag. En ny möjlighet ges till att lära sig av andra mer framgångsrika företag och ta del av vad som utmärker dem. Det japanska begreppet kaizen anses vara en del av vad som ligger bakom de japanska företagens framgångar och deras starka position på den internationella marknaden. Men vad är då kaizen? Detta är en av de frågor som vi försöker besvara i denna uppsats där begreppets ursprung, användningsområde samt vilka effekter som kan uppnås genom kaizen undersöks. Vi belyser även hur kaizen kan implementeras inom ett svenskt tillverkningsföretag.

Denna undersökning har bedrivits genom en kvalitativ metod där ett antal semistrukturerade intervjuer har genomförts. Uppsatsen har en hermeneutisk utgångspunkt då olika texter har studerats och tolkats. Då det under forskningens gång ständigt tillkommit ny information, som varit av betydelse för oss att undersöka närmare, har vi använt oss av en abduktiv strategi där vi växlat mellan att studera vår referensram och empiri.

Genom denna undersökning har vi insett att kaizen saknar en klar definition och dess olika benämningar är lika många som de förslag som finns på hur det kan implementeras. En gemensam översättning av ordet kaizen har vi dock funnit i form av ständiga förändringar till det bättre. Kaizen har ett tydligt samband med det produktionssystem som Toyota har utvecklat samt det som i västvärlden benämns som lean production. Divisionen Products inom det trucktillverkande företaget Atlet AB i Mölnlycke genomgår nu ett förändringsarbete där deras tolkning av lean production, vid namn Atlet Operations System, införs. Systemet består av en rad verktyg och metoder som implementeras med syfte att öka företagets effektivitet och där ett av de framtida verktyg som de avser att använda är kaizen.

Vi har även kommit fram till att kaizen kan ses som en mentalitet eller ett tankesätt som genomsyrar det japanska samhället. De tankar som råder har lett till utvecklandet av en mängd olika metoder och verktyg som kan hjälpa ett företag att bli mer effektivt och minska sitt ickevärdeskapande arbete. Då andra företag började intressera sig för japanernas överlägsenhet inom produktion krävdes en mer konkret bild av kaizens innebörd. Detta erhölls genom att dokumentera de metoder som utvecklats ur tankesättet. Dessa metoder har därefter exporterats världen runt, bland annat i form av boken the Toyota Way, men även under det mer västerländska namnet lean production. Trots att samma metoder implementeras av de företag som befinner sig utanför Japan ställer vi oss frågande till om kaizen verkligen kan tillämpas fullt ut. Detta då vi anser att kaizen består av så mycket mer än metoder, det är ett tankesätt och en mentalitet som har formats utifrån den kulturella bakgrund som härstammar från Japan.

Para se garantir a auto-sustentabilidade das empresas e conseguir dominar estes mercados estas precisam romper com o passado e aceitar os desafios que a modernidade apresenta, sendo a melhor maneira de vencer estes desafios, a implementação da filosofia Lean Production em toda a organização. O presente trabalho é o resultado da aplicação das ferramentas da Lean Production na empresa Nexxpro. Centra-se na reestruturação da célula de produção com a implementação do layout em “U”, e abrange a reformulação do processo de reabastecimento da linha de montagem, bem como a abordagem efectiva na valorização da metodologia 5S’s na organização do armazém. Face aos resultados obtidos pelos indicadores conclui-se que, de uma forma geral, a implementação do processo de melhoria contínua foi bem sucedida, dado que a visão kaizen pressupõe a eliminação de actividades e custos que não acrescentam valor.
Given the competitiveness and economic crisis that has undergone in recent years, the market has become very unstable with the notorious global economy, these factors influence the performance of companies. To ensure self-sustainability of the company and can dominate these markets, companies accurately break with the past and accept the challenges that modernity has, the best way to overcome these challenges is through the implementation of Lean Production in the whole organization. The present work is the result of implementing the tools of Lean Production in the company Nexxpro. It focuses on the restructuring of the production cell layout with the implementation of an "U"-shaped layout, and includes the reformulation of the replenishment process of the assembly line as well as the effective approach to the 5Ss methodology through the organization of the warehouse. Given the results obtained by the indicators it is concluded that, in general, the implementation of continuous improvement process was successful given that the kaizen vision assumes the elimination of activities and costs that add no value toward the optimization of infrastructure internal to the organization.

A Kaizen event is a focused and structured improvement project, using a dedicated cross-functional team to improve a targeted work area, with specific goals, in an accelerated timeframe. Kaizen events have been widely reported to produce positive change in business results and human resource outcomes. However, it can be difficult for many organizations to sustain or improve upon the results of a Kaizen event after it concludes. Furthermore, the sustainability of Kaizen event outcomes has received limited research attention to date. This research is based on a field study of 65 events across eight manufacturing organizations that used survey data collected at the time of the event and approximately nine to eighteen months after the event. The research model was developed from Kaizen event practitioner resources, Kaizen event literature, and related process improvement sustainability and organizational change literature. The model hypothesized that Kaizen Event Characteristics, Work Area Characteristics, and Post-Event Characteristics were related to Kaizen event Sustainability Outcomes. Furthermore, the model hypothesized that Post-Event Characteristics would mediate the relationship between Kaizen Event and Work Area Characteristics and the Sustainability Outcomes. The study hypotheses were analyzed through multiple regression models and generalized estimating equations were used to account for potential nesting effects (events within organizations). The factors that were most strongly related to each Sustainability Outcome were identified. Work Area Characteristics learning and stewardship and experimentation and continuous improvement and Post-Event Characteristics performance review and accepting changes were significant direct or indirect predictors of multiple Sustainability Outcomes and these findings were generally supported by the literature. There were also some unanticipated findings, particularly regarding the modeling of Sustainability Outcomes result sustainability and goal sustainability, which appear to illustrate potential issues regarding how organizations define and track the performance of Kaizen events over time and present areas for future research. Overall, this study advances academic knowledge regarding Kaizen event outcome sustainability. The findings also present guidelines so that practitioners may better influence the longer-term impact of Kaizen events on their organizations. The research findings may also extend to other improvement activities, thus presenting additional areas for future work.

Although widely viewed in the West, Japanese films are often misunderstood, as they are built on cultural, theatrical, and aesthetic traditions entirely foreign to Western audiences. Particularly in regards to Japan's "fantastic" cinema - including giant monster pictures, ghost stories, and "J-Horror" films - what is often perceived as "cheap" or "cheesy" is merely an expression of these unique cultural roots. By observing and exploring such cultural artifacts as kabuki, noh, and bunraku - the traditional theatrical forms of Japan - long-standing literary traditions, deeply embedded philosophical beliefs, and even more recent developments such as the controversial dance form butoh, these films, including Gojira (1954), Daimajin (1966), Kwaidan (1964), Onibaba (1964), Testuo the Iron Man (1989), and Ju-On (2002), can be placed in their proper perspective, leading to a reevaluation of their worth not merely as commercial products, but as uniquely Japanese expressions of that society's unique place in world culture.

This graduation thesis' aim is to help reader realize and understand what makes Japanese companies, especially Japanese management style, so successful and competitive and what problems (challenges) may occur while applying the Japanese managerial techniques in the Czech Republic. Companies teaching and implementing Japanese managerial style were found and evaluated. While giving background information on Japanese economy and manners, basic description of chosen Japanese managerial techniques as well as examples of their usage in companies, the main idea is to find out what the prerequisites of successful implementation of Japanese managerial techniques are, how techniques can be implemented and consecutively describe possible obstacles at the application of the Japanese management in the companies outside Japan. The reason for looking for the prerequisites of successful implementation is the thought that not only managerial techniques themselves (their "technical side") are the key for success. It is also, and very importantly, the way how they are used. It is knowledge what "forces" are driving the success of the techniques. Therefore, in order to understand what the Japanese managerial techniques are and who the people developing and using them are about, I step by step gathered related information and in a summarized form wrote them in this thesis. Analyzing the information I was able to conclude that there are three prerequisites for successful implementation of Japanese managerial techniques. It is firstly a technical side of managerial techniques itself, secondly it is a psychological aspect (learning Japanese management also means learning pieces of Japanese culture and manners and only if that culture is understood and applied, techniques can show they full potential) and thirdly it is hard working.

The industry 4.0 is continuously aiming to produce faster, increasing quality, and strictly using what is necessary to achieve efficiency enhancement. Within the wide list of methods used to reach this target, robot automation is usually used, although is expensive and rigid. Alternatively, a Japanese cheap automation philosophy called "Karakuri", is being introduced by Volvo GTO to manage this goal. This thesis relies on this philosophy, which takes profit of the existing energy, like gravity, to put in motion mechanisms, in order to reduce costs and improve the production efficiency by developing a semi-automated material handling system. The design method followed, the Scrum, divides the thesis in several phases of development, presenting a fully developed solution at the end of each one and iteratively increasing the level of definition along the process, to finally provide a solution suitable to be implemented.

Green Kaizen, AstraZenecas version av Green Performance Map, är ett nytt Lean-verktyg utformad för att minska miljöpåverkan av industriell produktion. Avfall är en av kategorierna av miljöaspekter som verktyget främjar och hanterar. Detta görs genom att i första hand minska mängden avfall som genereras och i andra hand maximera mängden avfall som återvinns eller återanvänds. Denna rapport är en fallstudiesom följt Green Kaziens tillämpning på sju olika tillverkningsprocesser inom bioläkemedelsföretaget AstraZenecas verksamhet i Södertälje. AstraZeneca valde att använda verktyget eftersom att företaget har en målsättning att minska mängden avfall som dess produktion genererar. Syftet med rapporten är att visa hur verktyget fungerar som en förbättringsprocess i läkemedelsindustrin och hur reducering av miljöpåverkan medför ekonomiska besparingar. För att visa detta har tidigare forskning som kopplar ihop miljömässiga förbättringar med ekonomiska besparingar sammanställts. Verktyget Green Performance Map beskrivs och tidigare utveckling av verktyget presenteras. Green Kaizen har analyserats genom att resultat från de sju olika fallen sammanställts, jämförts och utvärderats. Resultatets fokus ligger på identifierat avfall som kunde prioriteras och åtgärdas. Genom att utforma en enkel kostnadsmodell har potentiella kostnadsbesparingar uppskattats för olika förbättringsåtgärder inom avfallshantering. Åtgärder för identifierade miljöaspekter som implementerats eller börjat utredas redovisas i resultatet. Resultaten tyder på att verktyget både leder till miljömässiga förbättringar samt ekonomiska besparingar. Kostnadsmodellen har varit användbar för att effektivt uppskatta besparingar från återkommande åtgärdsförlag inom avfallshantering. Dessutom visar resultaten att verktyget kan anpassas för AstraZenecas verksamhet och bland annat kan leda till minskade utsläpp och slöserier i tillverkningsprocesser. En slutsats är att Green Kaizen kompletterar AstraZenecas arbete med Lean produktion och bör utvecklas vidare som ett Lean-verktyg för att bli integrerat med den befintliga Lean-strukturen.
Green Kaizen, AstraZeneca’s version of Green Performance Map, is a new Lean-tool designed to reduce the environmental impact from industrial manufacturing. Waste is one of the environmental aspects that the tool promotes and manages. This is initially done by reducing the amount of generated waste, and then by maximizing the amount of waste that is recycled or reused. This report is a case study which has followed the application of Green Kaizen on seven different manufacturing processes that are part of the biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca’s operations in Södertälje. AstraZeneca decided to use the tool because of their ambition to reduce the amount of waste produced through manufacturing. The purpose of this study is to exhibit how the tool works as an improvement process in a pharmaceutical company, and how reducing environmental impact entails reduced financial costs. To prove this, earlier research that links reduced environmental impact with economic benefits is compiled. The tool, Green Performance Map, is described and its prior development is presented. Green Kaizen has been analysed by compiling, comparing and evaluating the results from the seven different cases. The focus of the results lies on identified waste that could be prioritized and managed. By creating a simple cost model, potential financial savings have been estimated for different improvement measures in waste management. Improvement measures for identified environmental aspects that have been implemented or started being investigated are accounted for in the results. The results indicate that the tool both leads to environmental improvements along with financial savings. The cost model has been beneficial for effectively estimating savings from recurring waste management action proposals. Furthermore, the results display that the tool can be adapted to AstraZeneca’s operations and can successfully reduce emissions and eliminate waste in manufacturing processes. Thus, Green Kaizen complements AstraZeneca’s work with Lean manufacturing and should be further developed as a Lean-tool to be integrated with the current Lean-structure.

A partir de um estudo que buscava resposta para a perda de competitividade da indústria automobilística americana, um grupo de pesquisadores americanos reconheceu em uma empresa japonesa, um conceito diferente de se organizar. Tal conceito recebeu o nome lean, que em uma tradução exata seria enxuto, apesar de significar mais que isso, na tentativa de representar um pensamento que maximiza os lucros e elimina os desperdícios da empresa olhando em primeiro lugar para seus custos. Originalmente o chão-de-fábrica foi o local onde os pesquisadores perceberam maiores diferenças entre o método ocidental e o método oriental, apesar de que o pensamento que criava essa diferença estava presente em toda a empresa japonesa. Esse trabalho apresenta uma revisão bibliográfica sobre o Sistema Toyota de Produção desde suas origens até as práticas atuais, passando por percepções de diversos autores acerca dos Princípios Lean e sua importância para a transformação das empresas. A seguir, descreve detalhadamente dois métodos práticos distintos para a realização de um Evento Kaizen no ambiente de desenvolvimento de produto. São apresentadas, detalhadamente, as fases necessárias para a sua consecução, estabelecendo-se a relação de atividades e entregas (deliverables) necessárias em todas as fases do evento Kaizen, desde suas negociações iniciais até seu encerramento.

Tutkielmassani tarkastelen Kainuun murresanastoa verbien osalta. Tutkin, ovatko aineistossa esitetyt verbien merkitykset yhteneviä lähteiden kanssa, millaisia verbit ovat alkuperältään ja mainitaanko lähteissä lekseemin esiintymisalueeksi Kainuun murrealue. Tarkastelussa ovat siis verbien merkitykset, etymologia ja levikki. Kainuun murre tutkimuskohteena on minulle luonteva valinta, sillä olen kyseiseltä murrealueelta kotoisin ja murteet ovat aina kiinnostaneet minua. Kiinnostukseni Kainuun murretta kohtaan on juuri sen vuoksi vahva, että siinä on minulle sekä tuttuja että entuudestaan tuntemattomia piirteitä. Toinen peruste tutkia aihetta on yleinen mielenkiinto murteita kohtaan niin maallikoiden kun kielitieteilijöidenkin keskuudessa. Kainuun murrealue kuuluu savolaismurteisiin ja edelleen itämurteisiin. Murrealueen keskeisimpiä piirteitä ovat muun muassa pitkän a:n ja ä:n diftongiutuminen, diftonginreduktio ja jälkitavujen a-loppuisien vokaaliyhtymien laventuminen. Aineistoni on Minna ja Maiju Seppäsen kokoamasta Pienestä Kainuun murteen verbisanastosta, jossa on 133 verbiä merkityksineen ja esimerkkeineen. Sanaston kerääminen on aloitettu vuonna 2002 ja jatkuu yhä. Sanasto perustuu tekijöiden havaintoihin lähinnä kotimurteestaan perustuen etupäässä Hyrynsalmen ja Suomussalmen alueen murteeseen. Omaksi aineistokseni valikoituu 21 liikkumista ja paikallaan olemista ilmaisevaa murreverbiä. Aihepiirin mukaan rajaamisen lisäksi suljen aineistosta pois kaikki yleiskieliset sanat. Tutkielmani on teoriataustaltaan sosiolingvistista tutkimusta, tarkemmin alalajiltaan sanastontutkimusta. Sosiolingvistiikka on 1950-luvulla alkunsa saanut tutkimussuuntaus, joka tutkii kielen yhteyksiä yhteiskuntaan. Sanastontutkimus taas tutkii kielen sanoja, sanojen keskinäisiä suhteita ja sanojen suhdetta kielenulkoiseen maailmaan. Sanastontutkimuksessa on erilaisia osa-alueita, joista keskityn omassa tutkielmassani etymologiaan ja sanasemantiikkaan. Tutkimuksessani menettelen seuraavalla tavalla: Jaan murresanaston verbit ryhmiin, joista valitsen kaksi, joihin kuuluvat liikkumista ja paikallaan olemista ilmaisevat verbit. Karsin pois kaikki yleiskieliset verbit, jolloin 30 sanasta jää aineistokseni 21. Vertaan verbeille aineistossa esitettyjä merkityksiä sanakirjoissa kuvattuihin merkityksiin. Lisäksi tutkin lähteiden avulla sanojen etymologiaa ja levikkiä. Levikin suhteen kiinnitän erityisesti huomiota siihen, kerrotaanko sanan esiintyvän Kainuun murrealueella. Muodostan tutkimukseni tuloksista lopuksi johtopäätöksiä ja esittelen päätelmiäni muun muassa siitä, miksi kaikista sanoista ei löydy tietoja esimerkiksi etymologian suhteen. Aineiston 21 verbistä yhdeksällä on lähteiden kanssa täsmäävä merkitys. Lähteissä voi olla myös muita niin yhteneviä kuin poikkeaviakin merkityksiä. Viiden verbin kohdalla merkitykset ovat lähellä toisiaan, mutta eivät täysin yhtenevät. Neljän sanan merkitykset eroavat merkittävästi lähteistä, kun taas kolmelle lekseemille merkityksiä ei ole lainkaan saatavilla. 11 verbiä, eli hieman yli puolet, mainitaan lähteissä Kainuun murrealueella esiintyviksi murresanoiksi. 10 sanan kohdalla Kainuun murrealuetta ei mainita tai verbin esiintymisalueesta ei löydy tietoja. Vain yhdeksälle verbin etymologia oli mahdollista selvittää. Viiden etymologia palautuu suomen sukukieliin, yhden ruotsiin ja kolmen alkuperä on todennäköisesti suomen kieli.

Numa fase inicial, procurou conhecer-se a situação vivida no armazém, identificando-se vários desperdícios e oportunidades de melhoria. Através dos vários níveis que constituem o Kaizen Diário procedeu-se à organização de equipa e espaços e ainda à normalização das tarefas do dia-a-dia. Por fim, salienta-se a melhoria de 20% conseguida na produtividade do mês base para o mês seguinte. VII
This work is part of a project carried out in the company CIN, S.A. based in Maia, Portugal, and it reflects the implementation of the Kaizen Daily tool in raw materials warehouse. Initially we carried out a survey of the scenario in the warehouse and have identified several waste situations as well as some improvement opportunities. Through the Daily Kaizen’s diverse levels, spaces and teams were restructured and day by day tasks were also normalized. Wang Kaiyun (1832-1916), whose given name is “Renqiu” and styles himself as “Xiangqi,” is a famous scholar from Xiangtan, Hunan during the late Qing dynasty. Domestic issues and foreign threats had weakened China during this period and scholars at that time were dissatisfied with the status quo. They believed that the rise and fall of the nation was their responsibility. Wang Kaiyun’s area of focus was devoted towards benefitting the society. However, he failed to accomplish as a government official and had thus pursued teaching as his career to develop future talents. Wang was well-reputed in the academic circle as he had fostered several brilliant pupils. In addition to teaching, he did not stop writing and his works were widely respected by other scholars. Hence Wang Kaiyun was also known as the “Master of Confucianism” in the intellectual society. Out of Wang Kaiyun’s achievements in Confucian classics, his devotion to the “Gongyang Zhuan” was the most distinguished and further discussions on this subject have yet to cease even until present day. Nonetheless there are relatively less researches on his studies of the “Shangshu,” also known as the “Book of Documents.” Wang began exploring the “Book of Documents” at the age of 26, and during his 60 year career in teaching and writing, he had completed “Shangshu Jingu Wenzhu,” Shangshu Dazhuan Buzhu,” “Shangshu Jian,” “Yi Zhou Shu Zhu,” etc. Since these texts actually exist, there ought to be discussions on these materials. Hence this thesis is based on Wang Kai Yun’s “Shangshu Jian” and seeks to examine his writings and discoveries on the “Book of Documents.” Wang Kaiyun had gained inspirations from Fu Sheng and Sima Qian’s works on “Shangshu” and thus he introduced the principle of “Shen Fu Yi Zheng” (Promote Fu Sheng and Alter Zheng Xuan). Based on this theory, Wang Kaiyun had published two books, “Annotations on Shangshu” and “Annotations on Shangshu Dazhuan.” His attitude towards researching was identical with the contemporary literature during late Qing. Jiang Han criticized Wang Kaiyun’s “Shangshu Jingu Wenzhu” by suggesting that Wang had altered the original content in the “Book of Documents” to support the latter’s theory. Although the “Shangshu Jian” had also amended the original content in the “Shangshu” significantly, the emphasis was no longer on Fu Sheng and Sima Qian. “Shangshu Jian” incorporated ideas from the Hundred Schools of Thought, Old Text Scholars Ma Rong, Zheng Xuan and even derived concepts from the Six dynasties, Sui and Tang. It is worth noting that many scholars during the late Qing dynasty were influenced by the “Gongyang Zhuan,” such as the analysis of “Classic of Changes” (Yijing) and “Analects” (Lunyu) based on this commentary. Wang Kaiyun was not an exception either. He had also integrated ideas from “Gongyan” to explain “Shangshu,” since it was the mainstream trend at that particular period. Inspired by the belief of “Self Righteousness” from “Gongyang Zhuan,” Wang Kaiyun proposed the concept of “Self-Governing.” This idea was often introduced in Wang’s poems and conversations with his pupils. Furthermore, “Self-Governing” is embodied in his writings on “Spring and Autumn Annals” (Chunqiu) and “Shangshu Jian.” Wang’s sense of “Self-Governing” is established from “Respect” and further implements “Improve and Examine” as the principle. The state only needs to rely on “Self-Governing” and a transparent governing body. By softening diplomatic strategies, the foreign nations would pay tribute willingly and foreign threats would then be solved. In addition to elaborating “Self-Righteousness” from “Gongyang Zhuan”, Wang Kaiyun had also applied the interpretations from this commentary to explain the insights from the “Book of Documents.” In general, the amendments in “Shangshu Jian” are not solely based on any specific school yet it applies theories from multiples schools. This approach evidently distinguishes Wang Kaiyun’s attitude towards researching from the norm. “Shangshu Jian” attempts to link the similarities between the “Gongyang Zhuan” and “Book of Documents.” Composed with this distinguishing feature and structure, Wang Kaiyun has unleashed his unique academic character in “Shangshu Jian.”

Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu (Catalogue of the Kaiyuan era on Buddhism), which was written by Zhi Sheng living in Tang dynasty, is the most complete catalogue of Buddhist Classics in ancient China. Zhi Sheng in A.D.730 issued the catalogue of Buddhist books from the year A.D. 67 up to the date of publication, the whole amounting to 2,278 separate works. This thesis takes Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu as a research object. The purpose of this study is to discuss the features and functions of catalogue of Buddhist Classics in the bibliography. The main content of this paper is divided into eight chapters : Chapter 1 The motivation, methods and research review of the thesis. Chapter 2 First, studying the origin of the catalogue of Buddhist Classics and its overview of different generations, and investigating the writing background of Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu. Then exploring Zhi Sheng’s life and why he wrote this book in his time, which help explain the composing process of Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu. Chapter 3 The circulation of Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu is discussed here. Section 1 : An Analysis of the role of Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu in Chinese Buddhist Canons. Section 2 : Comparing and correcting the texts of Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu in different Buddhist Canons ,and tabulating the results included in Appendix 1. Section 3 : Introducing the text of Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu in Dunhuang documents. Chapter 4 The major content deliberated in this chapter is about compilation method, including the organization, classification and bibliographic description of Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu. Chapter 5 Exploring the background, identity, and origin of the translators recorded in Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu vol. 1 to 9. Chapter 6 Collating the apocryphal scriptures included in Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu and showing how they are recorded in other catalogues of Buddhist Classics. Chapter 7 The examination and consideration on the contribution, drawback, and influence of Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu. Chapter 8 Conclusion. Giving a summary of research results discussed in the previous chapters so as to illustrate the value of Kaiyuan Shijiao Lu.

Methods: The paper consists of an interventionist research case study. Qualitative and quantitative data was gathered to outline the exact cost saving process. Results: The design change boosted company’s savings by $ 761,249 for a period of twelve months. Conclusion: Findings offer unique insights to the impact Kaizen Costing has on material cost savings, which augments its competitiveness in the fierce automotive industry.

A Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS) define Saúde como estado de “completo bem-estar físico, mental e social e não apenas a ausência de enfermidade”. Assim, os serviços de saúde pelo mundo fora tentam não só prestar cuidados a este nível, mas melhorar todo o processo de atendimento para a maior satisfação do utente, tendo em vista a diminuição de custos desnecessários. A implementação e formação em filosofias de gestão direcionadas para a melhoria contínua dos processos e dos colaboradores tem sido a opção mais intuitiva e económica encontrada em várias áreas, incluindo a da Saúde. Esta dissertação tem como objetivo expor e clarificar a Filosofia Kaizen e os seus princípios, bem como explicar as ferramentas utilizadas na implementação desta. Pretende, ainda, analisar alguns exemplos de casos reais onde esta metodologia de melhoria contínua já foi introduzida e as principais dificuldades sentidas. Para alcançar estes objetivos optou-se por uma revisão bibliográfica, que recorreu ao estudo de vários trabalhos académicos e livros relacionados com o tema e, ainda, a pesquisa em websites específicos dos Hospitais estudados e do Instituto Kaizen. O trabalho foi dividido em 5 capítulos que abordam desde a história das filosofias de gestão, a origem do Pensamento Lean, às ferramentas na base da Filosofia Kaizen. Um capítulo foi reservado para apresentar o Instituto Kaizen presente em Portugal. Por último, serão demonstradas as melhorias atingidas com a implementação da Filosofia Kaizen em vários Hospitais, nacionais e internacionais. Melhorias ao nível da rapidez de atendimento, da diminuição de desperdícios relacionados com o material e tempo de espera, da melhoria e simplificação de processos, da maior comunicação multidisciplinar e da diminuição e organização de stock foram algumas das metas atingidas pelos hospitais analisados. A extensão da implementação das ferramentas diferenciou os Hospitais Nacionais dos Internacionais, uma vez que em Portugal se tem optado por aplicar a Filosofia Kaizen em pequenos serviços do Hospital, em vez de abranger a totalidade dos departamentos. No entanto, com a implementação de uma nova metodologia de trabalho existe alguma resistência à mudança, que deve ser combatida com a formação e motivação dos colaboradores.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines Health as a state of "complete physical, mental and social well-being and not just the absence of disease". Thus, the health services around the world try not only to provide care at this level, but to improve the entire care process for the greatest satisfaction of the patient , as well as unnecessary costs are reduced. The implementation and training in management philosophies aimed at the continuous improvement of processes and employees has been the most intuitive and economic option found in several areas, including Health. This dissertation aims to expose and clarify the Kaizen Philosophy and its principles, as well as to explain the tools used in its implementation. It also intends to analyze some examples of real cases where this methodology of improvement continues has already been introduced and the main difficulties felf. In order to reach these objectives, a bibliographic review was chosen, which used the study of several academic works and books related to the theme and also the research on specific websites of the hospitals studied and the Kaizen Institute. These work has been divided into 5 chapters that address from the history of management philosophies, the origin of the Lean Thinking, to the tools at the basis of Kaizen Philosophy. A chapter was reserved to present the Kaizen Institute present in Portugal. Finally, the improvements achieved with the implementation of the Kaizen philosophy in several national and international Hospitals will be demonstrated. Improvements in the speed of care, reduction of waste related to material and waiting time, improvement and simplification of processes, greater multidisciplinary communication and decrease and organization of stock were some of the goals reached by the hospitals analyzed. The extension of the implementation of the tools differentiated the National Hospitals from the International ones, since in Portugal it has opted to apply the Kaizen philosophy in small services of the Hospital, instead of covering all the departments. However, with the implementation of a new work methodology there is some resistance to change, which must be fought with the training and motivation of employees.

Abstract:
O presente relatório foi elaborado no âmbito da disciplina de Estágio Profissionalizante, pertencente ao último ano do mestrado em Engenharia Alimentar, lecionado na Escola Superior Agrária de Coimbra, Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra. O estágio teve início no dia 4 de Janeiro e terminou no dia 1 de Julho de 2016 na empresa Lusiaves Indústria e Comércio Agro- Alimentar, SA. O plano de trabalho centrou-se na aplicação/atualização da Metodologia Kaizen e na Organização 5S´s na área fabril da Marinha das Ondas, Figueira da Foz. Os principais objetivos deste estágio foram:  Aplicação de ferramentas Kaizen em gestão industrial;  Qualificação e melhoria contínua das equipas de trabalho;  Melhoria organizacional dos postos de trabalho;  Relação destas ferramentas com a Segurança Alimentar; O Kaizen é um termo de origem japonesa que significa “mudar para melhor”, define uma filosofia de melhoria contínua. Surge da junção de duas palavras “Kai” que significa “Mudar” e “Zen” que significa “Melhor”. Esta filosofia visa a prática da melhoria contínua aplicada diariamente, através do envolvimento de todos os colaboradores e aplicada em todas as áreas da organização. Para a implementação desta metodologia, a empresa Lusiaves, S.A, pediu a colaboração do Instituto Kaizen de Portugal. Esta implementação foi efetuada no ano de 2014 Numa perspetiva global, a empresa Lusiaves é uma empresa bem organizada que está sempre focada em conseguir cumprir todos os objetivos que são requeridos. No entanto, por vezes esse foco de querer apenas cumprir os objetivos de produção comprometem a aplicação destas metodologias. Contudo, através destas metodologias os objetivos de produção poderão ser cumpridos de forma mais eficiente. Assim, um dos grandes objetivos deste estágio foi também mostrar que estas metodologias devem ser cumpridas de forma a ajudar as equipas de produção a cumprir os objetivos da organização, mantendo a qualidade dos produtos. Abstract This report was prepared within the discipline of professional stage, belonging to the last year of the Masters in Food Engineering, taught in the Agrarian School of Coimbra Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra. The stage began on 4th of January and ended on 1st of July 2016 the company Lusiaves Industry and Agri-Food Trade, SA. The work plan focused on the implementation / update of Kaizen methodology and 5S's Organization in the industrial area of the Marinha das Ondas, Figueira da Foz The main objectives of this stage were: • Application of Kaizen tools in industrial management; • Qualification and continuous improvement of working teams; • Organizational Improvement of the jobs; • Ratio of these tools to Food Safety; Kaizen is a term of Japanese origin meaning "change for the better", defines a philosophy of continuous improvement. Arises from the junction of two words "Kai" means "change" and "Zen" means "better". This philosophy aims to the practice of continuous improvement applied daily, through the involvement of all employees and applied in all areas of the organization. To implement this methodology, Lusiaves company, S.A, requested the collaboration of the Kaizen Institute of Portugal. This implementation was done in 2014 In a global perspective, the Lusiaves company is a well organized company that is always focused on getting to meet all the objectives that are required. However, sometimes this focus just want to meet production goals undertake the application of these methodologies. However, using these methods production targets can be met more efficiently. Thus one of the main objectives of this stage was also show that these methods must be met in order to help production teams to meet the organization's goals while maintaining product quality.
