This article reflects on the premises of interreligious coexistence in Edo Japan. It focuses on the practitioners of three religious groups deemed heterodox by the warrior authorities—Hidden Christians, covert Shin Buddhists (kakure nenbutsu ), and the kakushi nenbutsu (“those who conceal the invocation to the Buddha Amida”)—, while considering their position in local communities. If, on the one hand, early modern Japanese undoubtedly perceived Christianity—at least the altered image they had of it—as heretical and that it should be wiped out at all costs, on the other hand, the ambiguity of t

This thesis explores the history of Christianity and conversion to it in 16th and 17th Century Japan. It argues that conversion is a complex phenomenon which happened for a variety of reasons. Furthermore, it argues that due to the political context and limitations acting upon the mission, the majority of conversions in 16th and 17th Century Japan lacked an element of epistemological change (classically understood). The first chapter explores theories of conversion suggesting that conversion in 16th and 17th Century Japan included sorts of religious change not usually encapsulated in the term

In wireless networks, the problem of packet loss caused by handoff process and the threat of DoS attack has been concerned.
