Abstract:
Kata kunci : Ektrak akar kalakai, In Vivo, Kolesterol, SpektrofotometerUV-VIS, Trigliserida ABSTRACT Kalakai plants or often called haruan nails or ferns are typical Kalimanatan plants which are widely used as medicinal plants. Kalakai contains several bioactive compounds such as phenolic, flavonoid, alkaloid and terpenoid family which are effective as antioxidants. The purpose of this study was to determine the antihyperlipidemic activity of kalakai root extract which was tested in vivo in Wistar rats. The method used is to test the activity of antihyperlipidemia by giving treatment of experimental animal and to measure levels of triglycerides and total cholesterol using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. the results of the study note that increasing the dose can increase the activity of the kalakai root extract. As the dose incr eases, there is an increase in the linkage between the flavonoids and receptors on the cell surface, resulting in increased activity . The activity of administering the 3rd dose of triglyceride levels was 49.8 mg/dl whereas for cholesterol levels it was 41.8 mg/dl in the result obtained from the extract of kalakai root approaching the administration of simvastatin levels. Based on this, the extract at a dose of 400mg/kg has the potensial for further scrutiny and can be used as an alternative drug in the treatment of hyperlipidemia. The state of hyperlipidemia is not only related to cholesterol, but includes the level of triglycerides in the blood. The ability of a drug to reduce cholesterol levels as well as triglyceride levels, will provide benefits to the treatm ent of hyperlipidemia patients. The use of kalakai root is not only limited to treatment because natural ingredients can be use d as a prevention of disease, especially hyperlipidemia that occurs in degenerative patients. Abstract:
This article examines the mythical significance of the famous Afghan Kafir ‘Temple of Imra’ described in Robertson's Káfirs of the Hindu-Kush (1896: 389–92) within the cosmology of the Kalasha (‘Kalash Kafirs’) of Chitral in northern Pakistan. It is known as the ‘Temple of Mahandeu’ in Kalasha tradition, and stories about this sanctuary play an important role in the exegesis of all Kalasha rites. It is, indeed, a focal symbol of Kalasha cosmology: the site of an axis mundi linking heaven and earth with the underworld of the deceased, and the primordial domain of major deities. After examining narratives about this temple, I shall discuss several problems in the comparative religions of the Hindu Kush that such traditions help to elucidate. In recognition of the pioneering scholarship on this subject by Wolfgang Lentz (1974) and Lennart Edelberg (et al., 1959), I present here some Kalasha perspectives on an extraordinary Kafir sanctuary (cf. Jettmar, 1986: 50–51). But in discussing its significance in Kalasha cosmology, I also address broader questions about our present conception of religious knowledge in the Hindu Kush, particularly on the comparative ‘mythology’ of the Afghan Kafirs and of their Dardicspeaking neighbours in northern Pakistan

Abstract:
Kalakai (Stenochlaena palustris) is a fern that lives wildly in nature. High iron content in the diet underlies the use of kalakai plants as a natural iron fortifying food for growing children. The purpose of this study was to determine the best formulation of baby porridge flour meeting the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Kalakai was selected as a Fe fortifying material due to its high content of Fe. Three formulations (A, B, and C) were produced from three different flours (cassava nagara, kalakai, and young banana), and the formulated samples were tested. Formula A was 55 (cassava) : 5 (kalakai) : 40 (banana); formula B was 57:3:40; and formula C was 59:1:40. Those three formulations were compared with a control which was made from cassava nagara flour and banana flour with ratio of 60% and 40% (without kalakai). The results showed that the best formula was the A formulation, with a ratio content of 55:5:40. This formula had 0.90 g/ml of kamba density, 2.04 of water absorption index, 6.62% of moisture content, 3.02% of ash content, 0.67% of fat content, 2.41% of crude protein, and 4.48 mg/100g of Fe level.

Puhdistamoliete on orgaaninen lannoite, jonka kuiva-ainepitoisuus kalkkistabiloituna on 40 %.Puhdistamoliete parantaa maan rakennetta. Viljelijä on ilmoitusvelvollinen puhdistamolietteen käytöstäEU-tukihaun yhteydessä. Yhdellä tilalla on kasvinviljelyn lisäksi pienimuotoistalihakarjankasvatusta. Yhdellä tilalla on peltoa 500 hehtaaria, toisella 200 hehtaaria ja kolmannella 30hehtaaria. Suurimat tilat ovat käyttäneet puhdistamolietettä lannoitteena jo noin 30 vuoden ajan, muttapienimmällä tilalla on vastaanotettu puhdistamolietettä vain kolmena vuonna. Suurin osa tilojen maalajeistaon karkeita kivennäismaita, hiesua (30 %) ja hietamoreenia (29 %). Seuraavaksi eniten onhiesusavea (16 %) ja hiuetta (11 %). Muina maalajeina on hienohieta, multamaa, karkeahieta ja hiuesavi.Lietteen käytön ansiosta viljelykasvien fosforilannoitustarve täyttyi ja jopa ylittyi. Abstract:
As an important component of the chassis system, the vehicle suspension plays a significant role in vehicle comfort, stability, and safety. In dynamic modeling of a semi-active suspension, traditional method is a complicated process, the actuator force is difficult to solve. In the process of model simplification, the influence of the vehicle-axle and balanced shift quality on the vehicle dynamics is not considered. For this reason, applying the Udwadia–Kalaba approach to dynamic modeling and control for a three-axle semi-active truck suspension can establish a simple and accurate equivalent discrete system. By fixing the displacement and acceleration of the body, the simulation is conducted with real excitations between the road and six wheels, and the actuator control forces of the semi-active suspension are obtained under the constraint by applying the Udwadia–Kalaba approach. The contrast in the analysis results from the Udwadia–Kalaba approach and the traditional Lagrange multiplier method indicate that the Udwadia–Kalaba equation can obtain the semi-active suspension actuator forces without introducing additional Lagrange multipliers and that the actuator forces acquired with the Udwadia–Kalaba approach are equal to those of the traditional Lagrange multiplier method.

Abstract:
The discipline of onomastics is still at its infancy yet it constitutes a very important aspect of the day to day survival of a people in the society. Naming is part of oral tradition in African societies, people were never used to write and record things but rather their names. This means that names are a historical record that would carry some aspects of a people's way of life which include their history, beliefs and customs among others. On the same note, Midlands Province constitute of people from different backgrounds mainly Shona and Ndebele. Of interest to this research is the presence of the Kalanga people through some toponyms that are found in the area. In light of this view, this study therefore seeks to identify and unlock the culture and history embedded in these names by looking at the significance of Kalanga place names in Midlands Province. The study argues that place names or toponyms of any people carry with them a history, meaning and significance to particular people that name the places, thus studying the place names in this community can be a valuable tool of unpacking the history surrounding the Kalanga people in Midlands Province in Zimbabwe. Guided by the Afrocentric paradigm, specifically nommoic creativity tenant, the study seeks to explore the cultural and historical significance of Kalanga toponyms in Midlands Province.

Abstract:
The province of Central Sulawesi, particulariy Lore Valley that is part of Poso Regency, is rich in cultural remains from the period when the megalithic tradition flourished. The remains include among others kalamba (stone vats), megalithic statues, stone mortars, pitted stones, engraved stones, and clay jars. The Lore Valley area consists of Bada, Besoa, and Napu smaller valleys. Here, there are scatter of very specific cultural items rarely found in other parts of Indonesia, which are locally known as kalamba (stone vats). Stone vats are usually functioned as burial containers. Excavations reveals that stone vats were communal and secondary burials. C-14 dating shows that one of the sites at Besoa Valley, Entovera Site, has been inhabited since 2170 BP. This makes Entovera Site one of the oldest megalithic sites in Indonesia. Outside Central Sulawesi, megalithic burials resemble to kalamba are found in Sarawak, North around Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Donggo, (West Nusa Tenggara), Mekong Valley (Laos), and Assam (to the northwest of Cachar Mountains in India).

Abstract:
The documentation of local food resources among linguistic/cultural minorities is essential for fostering measures aimed at sustaining food biocultural heritage. Moreover, interdisciplinary studies on food cultural heritage represent a vital aspect of promoting environmental and social sustainability. The current study aimed to record the traditional foraging of wild food plants (WFPs) among three minority groups (Kalasha, Muslim Ismaili Yidgha, and Muslim Sunni Kamkata-vari speakers) as well as the dominant (Sunni Muslim) Kho/Chitrali people in the Kalasha and Lotkoh valleys, Chitral, NW Pakistan. A field survey recorded fifty-five locally gathered wild food plants and three mycological taxa. Most of the WFPs were used raw as snacks or as cooked vegetables, and Yidgha speakers reported the highest number of WFPs. Although the wild food plant uses of the four considered groups were quite similar, Yidgha speakers exclusively reported the use of Heracleum candicans, Matricaria chamomilla, Seriphidium brevifolium, and Sisymbrium irio. Similarly, Kalasha speakers reported the highest number of use reports, and along with Yidgha speakers they quoted a few WFPs that were frequently used only by them. The results of the study showed a remarkable degree of cultural adaptation of the minority groups to the dominant Kho/Chitrali culture, but also some signs of cultural resilience among those linguistic and religious minorities that were historically more marginalized (Kalasha and Yidgha speakers). The recorded food biocultural heritage should be seriously considered in future development programs aimed at fostering social cohesion and sustainability.

Abstract:
Is it legitimate to use discriminatory policies to achieve equality? As official support for reverse discrimination or affirmative action policies becomes more common among member states of the European Union, so does the potential for legal challenge. Yet no clear answer has yet been given by the European Court of Justice. The controversial European Court of Justice decision in Kalanke, striking down an affirmative action policy, was followed only two years later by that in Marschall, which signalled a significant change in approach to affirmative action policies. This change of attitude is likely to be tested in a variety of different ways in the near future. The next affirmative action case, Badeck, is now awaiting the opinion of the Advocate General, and a Swedish case is waiting in the wings. Both these cases are likely to take the Court into far stormier waters than those already traversed in Kalanke and Marschall.

Abstract:
Some plants in swamps are a problem because the growth rate is relatively fast, such as water chestnut (Eleocharis dulcis), kalakai (Stenochlaena palustris), and water hyacint (Eichornia crassipe)s. Therefore, various technologies are always traced to increase the use value of these swamp plants. One of the uses is by making organic fertilizer to support the availability of nutrients for plants. The purpose of this study is to utilize swamp plants and compare the pH, C-organic, N-total and C / N ratio values ??of each swamp plant. The study was conducted at the Soil Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lambung Mangkurat in October - November 2014. The study used a single, completely randomized design (CRD). The factors studied were swamp plant organic material consisting of 3 treatments, namely: B1 (rat purun); B2 (kalakai); and B3 (water hyacinth). Each treatment was repeated 6 times, so that 18 experimental units were obtained. The results showed that water water hyacint had the highest N-total and the lowest C / N ratio compared to kalakai and water chestnut.

Abstract:
The interest in traditional foods, which have an important place in Turkey, is increasing day by day. Traditional products are also important gastronomy elements in the Cappadocia region, which is the center of attention by tourists. Production and promotion of local dairy products are also important in this regard. Among these dairy products, Kalaba yogurt which is known as different names according to the region is produced in Kalaba town, Avanos district of Nevşehir in the Cappadocia region. It is thought that the product will increase the value of the product in terms of gastronomy by researching the characteristics of the yoghurt, which has remained specific to the region, and adapting to the recipes. Tiramisu, one of the best-known desserts of Italian cuisine, is a dessert type prepared with mascarpone cheese in its original recipe and labne cheese in alternative recipes. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the possibilities of using Kalaba yogurt as a substitute in the recipe of Tiramisu dessert accepted in the world cuisine and to determine the product qualities. For this reason, the chemical properties and the total calorie values of tiramisu desserts made with mascarpone cheese, labne cheese and Kalaba yogurt were investigated in the study. As a result of the research, the use of different dairy products, except the ash and carbohydrate values, was found statistically significant in the composition of the samples. The use of mascarpone cheese and Kalaba yogurt was found to be not important in the total calorie values of the samples. In the research, the statistical significance level was determined in the recipe of tiramisu dessert accepted in the world cuisine and the applicability was discussed.

Abstract:
AbstractKalasha (Northwestern Indo-Aryan, spoken in Pakistan) exhibits a complex set of ten affricate phonemes, which is exceedingly rare among the world’s languages and not representative of the broader South Asian context. This paper presents results of an acoustic analysis of place contrasts (dental, retroflex, and alveolopalatal) in affricates of four laryngeal specifications (voiceless unaspirated, voiceless aspirated, non-breathy voiced, and breathy voiced). These consonants were produced by four male speakers of Kalasha in a variety of phonetic contexts, resulting in a sample of close to 700 affricate tokens. A series of acoustic analyses of the data revealed that place contrasts in Kalasha affricates are distinguished robustly by both burst/frication spectra and formant transitions, but not by duration, which correlates more with laryngeal features. Place distinctions are somewhat diminished for voiced affricates but are largely unaffected by aspiration and syllable position. Most of these results are consistent with what is known about comparable (yet laryngeally simpler) place contrasts in other languages outside of South Asia. However, some of them are unique and may reflect the typological uniqueness and complexity of Kalasha’s affricate system.

Abstract:
In this research work, a new method for solving forward and inverse dynamic problems of mechanical systems having an underactuated structure and subjected to holonomic and/or nonholonomic constraints is developed. The method devised in this paper is based on the combination of the Udwadia-Kalaba Equations with the Underactuation Equivalence Principle. First, an analytical method based on the Udwadia-Kalaba Equations is employed in the paper for handling dynamic and control problems of nonlinear nonholonomic mechanical systems in the same computational framework. Subsequently, the Underactuation Equivalence Principle is used for extending the capabilities of the Udwadia-Kalaba Equations from fully actuated mechanical systems to underactuated mechanical systems. The Underactuation Equivalence Principle represents an efficient method recently developed in the field of classical mechanics. The Underactuation Equivalence Principle is used in this paper for mathematically formalizing the underactuation property of a mechanical system considering a particular set of nonholonomic algebraic constraints defined at the acceleration level. On the other hand, in this study, the Udwadia-Kalaba Equations are analytically reformulated in a mathematical form suitable for treating inverse dynamic problems. By doing so, the Udwadia-Kalaba Equations are employed in conjunction with the Underactuation Equivalence Principle for developing a nonlinear control method based on an inverse dynamic approach. As shown in detail in this investigation, the proposed method can be used for analytically solving in an explicit manner the forward and inverse dynamic problems of several nonholonomic mechanical systems. In particular, the tracking control of the unicycle-like mobile robot is considered in this investigation as a benchmark example. Numerical experiments on the dynamic model of the unicycle-like mobile robot confirm the effectiveness of the nonlinear dynamic and control approaches developed in this work.
