Abstract:
In the offset V-bunionectomy used for hallux valgus repair, both the Kalish and the Vogler variations have a long dorsal arm, but the apex is more distal in the Kalish procedure. This study investigated the effect that pin orientation and location of the osteotomy apex have on weightbearing stability. The authors studied saw bone models that were loaded to failure in an Instron 4201 materials testing machine and, in addition, designed, fabricated, and used a unique jig assembly to help minimize data variability. Statistically significant differences were found between the surgical techniques and pin orientations: the Kalish osteotomy was stronger than the Vogler procedure, and in both osteotomies, the plantarly directed Kirschner wire orientation was stronger than the dorsally directed orientation. One of the hallmarks of the written history of nursing is the idea that the apprenticeship system of nurses’ training, lasting from the 1870s through the 1930s, was characterized by exploitation. “Emergencies and understaffing” dictated the training of nurses, according to Susan Reverby, because “the demands of the hospital for a work force meant that pupils’ education was continually sacrificed to the exigencies of hospital work” (1987: 64–65; also see Kalisch and Kalisch 1986).

Išanalizuotas kalcio chlorido efektyvumas, mažinant žvyrkelio dulkėtumą, kuris priklausomai nuo įvairių sąlygų buvo 15–45 %.

Abstract:
Currently there is a spate of interest in the presence of pharmacologically active substances in the environment. These substances are excreted in active or metabolized form and with wastewater pass the wastewater treatment plant. Current treatment technologies do not always eliminate all pharmaceuticals effectively and therefore they enter the environment. One of these active groups is the group of steroid hormones. Steroid hormones belong to the group of endocrine disruptors and they are considered to be dangerous for the ecosystems. Due to the hydrophobic character of steroid hormones they undergo partial or total sorption from wastewater to sludge. Sewage sludge is the by product of wastewater treatment and contains heavy metals, organic contaminants and pathogenic bacteria. A part of produced sewage sludge is used as a fertilizer in the Czech Republic. This issue follows the regulation 347/2016 – conditions of agricultural use of sewage sludge. Waste policy of EU will alter the conditions of sludge disposal, so it is necessary to obtain data about the concentration levels, fate and behaviour of those pollutants. This thesis was focused on five natural female hormones and four synthetic, which are used as a part of contraceptive pills and substitutional hormonal therapy. Determination of hormones was performed in four steps including ultrasonic assisted extraction, clean up by solid phase extraction, derivatization and final analysis by gas chromatography with mass spectrometry on triple quadrupole in MS/MS mode.

Abstract:
This thesis has been prepared for DIAMO, Branch GEAM Dolní Rožínka. Literature research includes a description of the ionizing radiation, natural radionuclides, mining of uranium ore and mineral deposits; Běstvina and Licoměřice. The experimental part includes sampling, analysis and evaluation of the content of selected radionuclides in the two selected locations. The content of uranium and radium in sludge from mine water treatment plant is determined annually by an external laboratory, using of semiconductor gamma-spectrometric analysis (GSA). Determination of both radionuclides in waters in these areas is carried out in the Centre of testing laboratories (SZLAB) in Dolní Rožínka. Uranium and radium activity is below the detection limit. Sludges from Běstvina, according to the results of external laboratories, routinely show activity of both radionuclides. But activity in the waters from this locality is below the detection limit. The goal of this diploma thesis is to verify the radionuclide content in sludge from CDV Běstvina by another method. As a comparative method was chosen determination of uranium using the UV-VIS spectrophotometry with separation on silicagel. Location Licoměřice was chosen as a reference. Like a supplementary method for determining the concentration of uranium was chosen ICP-MS. For the determination of the radium was chosen radiochemical method scintillator ZnS (Ag).

Šio darbo uždaviniai įvertinti kalių, sergančių piometra, makšties citologinius ir kraujo parametrų pakitimus. Įvertinti amžiaus įtaką piometros pasireiškimui. Nustatyti laiką po rujos iki piometros klinikinių požymių atsiradimo. Nustatyti mirties atvejus dėl patologijos. Buvo tiriamos trys grupės kalių. I grupė – 16 piometra sergančių patelių. II grupė – 4 kalės, porujo periode, kliniškai sveikos. III grupė 4 – patelės, anestrus periode, kurioms kraujyje nustatyta leukocitozė, bet dėl kitų priežasčių nei piometra ar vaginitas. II ir III grupės – kontrolinės grupės, kurių rezultatai lyginami su I grupės. Tepinėlis iš makšties imamas Transwab (Jungtinė Karalystė) terpės pagalba. Gauta klinikinė medžiaga pernešama ant objektyvinio stiklelio citologijai ir skirtingų mitybinių terpių mikrobiologijai. Objektyvinis stiklelis dažomas May Grün – Giemza dažais. Makšties tepinėlis vertinamas mikroskopo pagalba. Atliekami uždegiminių ir epitelinių ląstelių santykio skaičiavimai. Kraujas imamas iš v. cefalica. Buvo pastebėti makšties tepinėlio citologiniai skirtumai tarp trijų tiriamųjų grupių. Uždegiminių su epitelinėmis ląstelėmis santykio vidurkis I grupei – 9,54 ± 3,62, II grupei – 0,09 ± 0,018, III grupei uždegiminių ląstelių nebuvo aptikta, todėl santykis ligus 0. Visose grupėse dominavo bazalinės ląstelės. 75 % kalių, sergančių piometra, konstatuota leukocitozė, 81,5 % granuliocitozė. 12,25 % buvo nustatyta mažakraujystė. 37,50 % gimdos uždegimu sergančioms kalėms išskirta E... The aim of this study is to evaluate cytological changes in vaginal smears of bitches with pyometra, to record changes in total blood count and blood biochemistry, to identify microorganisms isolated from vagina. Other aims are to asses the average age of bitches with the diagnosed pathology; to count days that passed after estrus period and the first clinical signs of pyometra were noticed; to evaluate the rate of mortality. Three groups of animals were evaluated. The 1st one 16 bitches, diagnosed with pyometra. 2nd group 4 bitches, in diestrus period, clinically healthy. 3rd group 4 bitches diagnosed with blood leukocytosis but for other reasons than pyometra or vaginitis. 2nd and 3rd groups served as control groups. Vaginal smears and microbiological samples were taken from vagina with Transwab (UK), the obtained material was smeared on objective glass and coloured with May Grün – Giemsa for microscopical evaluation. Ratio of WBC and epithelial cells was counted. For microbiology sample was smeared on different agars for isolation of various microorganisms. Blood was drawn from v. cefalica. We observed clear cytological diferences between healthy animals and ill with pyometra. Average ratio WBC to epithelial cells for group I 9,54 ± 3,62, for group II 0,09 ± 0,018, for group III no WBC were observed so the ratio is equal to 0. Abstract:
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kualitas pupuk organik yang dihasilkan dari proporsi kotoran ayam petelur dengan sekam padi. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 3 level perlakuan rasio kotoran ayam petelur dan sekam padi yaitu P1 (1:1), P2 (2:1), dan P3 (1:2). Penelitian diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Parameter yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah nitrogen (N), fosfor (P), kalium (K), karbon (C) organik, rasio C/N, dan pH. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rasio kotoran ayam petelur dan sekam padi berpengaruh nyata terhadap kandungan N, P, K, C organik, dan rasio C/N. Pupuk organik ayam petelur dengan imbangan sekam padi 2:1 paling tinggi mengandung N (5,6%), P (2,5%), C (35,6%), K (2,1%), dengan kelembapan 32,4%.

Abstract:
The Kalina Cycle utilizes a mixture of ammonia and water as the working fluid in a vapor power cycle. When the liquid mixture is heated the more volatile ammonia tends to vaporize first and at a lower temperature than does pure water. This property of ammonia-water mixtures makes possible a better match to the enthalpy-temperature curve of a hot gas heat source such as a gas turbine exhaust and also permits circulation of fluids of different composition in different parts of the cycle. Taking advantage of the latter feature, condensation (absorption) can be done at slightly above atmospheric pressure with a low concentration of ammonia, while heat input is at a higher concentration for optimum cycle performance. Computer models have been used to optimize a simplified form of the cycle and to compare results for a more complex version proposed by El-Sayed and Tribus. A method of balancing the cycle was developed and key parameters for optimizing the cycle identified.

Abstract:
A new power generation technology often referred to as the Kalina cycle, is being developed as a direct replacement for the Rankine steam cycle. It may be applied to any thermal heat source, low or high temperature. Among several Kalina cycle variations there is one that is particularly well suited as a bottoming cycle for utility combined cycle applications. It is the subject of this paper. Using an ammonia/water mixture as the working fluid and a condensing system based on absorption refrigeration principles the Kalina bottoming cycle outperforms a triple pressure steam cycle by 16 percent. Additionally, this version of the Kalina cycle is characterized by an intercooling feature between turbine stages, diametrically opposite to normal reheating practice in steam plants. Energy and mass balances are presented for a 200 MWe Kalina bottoming cycle. Kalina cycle performance is compared to a triple pressure steam plant. At a peak cycle temperature of 950° F the Kalina plant produces 223.5 MW vs. 192.6 MW for the triple pressure steam plant, an improvement of 16.0 percent. Reducing the economizer pinch point to 15° F results in a performance improvement in excess of 30 percent.

Abstract:
A multi-component (NH3/H2O) Kalina type cycle that utilizes the exhaust from a gas turbine is investigated in this paper. The turbine inlet pressure, 5.96∗106 N/m2 (850 psig), and temperature, 755.372 K (900 F), were kept constant as well as the working fluid temperature at the condenser outlet, 290 K (62.3 F). The NH3 mass fraction at the turbine inlet was varied along with the separator temperature, and the effects on the cycle efficiency were studied. The relationship between turbine inlet flow and separator inlet flow is shown in this paper in addition to the upper and lower NH3 mass fraction bounds. The multi-component working fluid cycle investigated is 10% to 20% more efficient than a Rankine cycle at the same border conditions.

Abstract:
A number of studies have shown that the Kalina cycle, using an ammonia-water mixture, can reach higher efficiencies than the normal steam Rankine cycle. In this paper, the Kalina cycle, with a gas turbine topping cycle is applied to cogeneration for district heating. Since the district heating temperatures vary with the heat demand over the year, this application may prove to be especially suitable for the Kalina cycle with its many degrees of freedom in the condensation system. A theoretical comparison between different bottoming cycles producing heat for a typical Scandinavian district heating network has been carried out. The Kalina cycle, the Rankine cycle with a mixture of ammonia and water as the working fluid and the normal single pressure steam Rankine cycle are compared. It is shown that a simple Rankine cycle with an ammonia-water mixture as the working fluid produces more heat and power than the steam Rankine cycle. The best results, however, are obtained for the Kalina cycle, which generates considerably higher heat and power output than the steam Rankine cycle.

Ar-Ge ekosistemimizin paydaşları arasında önemli role sahip olan üniversiteler son dönemde büyük bir değişim yaşamaktadır. Üniversitelerimizin girdi odaklı süregelen yapısının çıktı odaklı bir yapıya dönüşmesi, Ar-Ge ekosistemimizin diğer aktörleri olan kamu sektörü ve özel sektör ile iş birliklerinin yeniden gözden geçirilmesini zorunlu kılmıştır. TÜBİTAK, Sanayi ve Teknoloji Bakanlığı başta olmak üzere Ar-Ge desteği sağlayan bakanlıklar, KOSGEB, TTGV ülkemizdeki Ar-Ge ve yenilik faaliyetlerine destek sağlamaktadır.
