Abstract:
Currently there is a spate of interest in the presence of pharmacologically active substances in the environment. These substances are excreted in active or metabolized form and with wastewater pass the wastewater treatment plant. Current treatment technologies do not always eliminate all pharmaceuticals effectively and therefore they enter the environment. One of these active groups is the group of steroid hormones. Steroid hormones belong to the group of endocrine disruptors and they are considered to be dangerous for the ecosystems. Due to the hydrophobic character of steroid hormones they undergo partial or total sorption from wastewater to sludge. Sewage sludge is the by product of wastewater treatment and contains heavy metals, organic contaminants and pathogenic bacteria. A part of produced sewage sludge is used as a fertilizer in the Czech Republic. This issue follows the regulation 347/2016 – conditions of agricultural use of sewage sludge. Waste policy of EU will alter the conditions of sludge disposal, so it is necessary to obtain data about the concentration levels, fate and behaviour of those pollutants. This thesis was focused on five natural female hormones and four synthetic, which are used as a part of contraceptive pills and substitutional hormonal therapy. Determination of hormones was performed in four steps including ultrasonic assisted extraction, clean up by solid phase extraction, derivatization and final analysis by gas chromatography with mass spectrometry on triple quadrupole in MS/MS mode.

Abstract:
This thesis has been prepared for DIAMO, Branch GEAM Dolní Rožínka. Literature research includes a description of the ionizing radiation, natural radionuclides, mining of uranium ore and mineral deposits; Běstvina and Licoměřice. The experimental part includes sampling, analysis and evaluation of the content of selected radionuclides in the two selected locations. The content of uranium and radium in sludge from mine water treatment plant is determined annually by an external laboratory, using of semiconductor gamma-spectrometric analysis (GSA). Determination of both radionuclides in waters in these areas is carried out in the Centre of testing laboratories (SZLAB) in Dolní Rožínka. Uranium and radium activity is below the detection limit. Sludges from Běstvina, according to the results of external laboratories, routinely show activity of both radionuclides. But activity in the waters from this locality is below the detection limit. The goal of this diploma thesis is to verify the radionuclide content in sludge from CDV Běstvina by another method. As a comparative method was chosen determination of uranium using the UV-VIS spectrophotometry with separation on silicagel. Location Licoměřice was chosen as a reference. Like a supplementary method for determining the concentration of uranium was chosen ICP-MS. For the determination of the radium was chosen radiochemical method scintillator ZnS (Ag).

Šio darbo uždaviniai įvertinti kalių, sergančių piometra, makšties citologinius ir kraujo parametrų pakitimus. Įvertinti amžiaus įtaką piometros pasireiškimui. Nustatyti laiką po rujos iki piometros klinikinių požymių atsiradimo. Nustatyti mirties atvejus dėl patologijos. Buvo tiriamos trys grupės kalių. I grupė – 16 piometra sergančių patelių. II grupė – 4 kalės, porujo periode, kliniškai sveikos. III grupė 4 – patelės, anestrus periode, kurioms kraujyje nustatyta leukocitozė, bet dėl kitų priežasčių nei piometra ar vaginitas. II ir III grupės – kontrolinės grupės, kurių rezultatai lyginami su I grupės. Tepinėlis iš makšties imamas Transwab (Jungtinė Karalystė) terpės pagalba. Gauta klinikinė medžiaga pernešama ant objektyvinio stiklelio citologijai ir skirtingų mitybinių terpių mikrobiologijai. Objektyvinis stiklelis dažomas May Grün – Giemza dažais. Makšties tepinėlis vertinamas mikroskopo pagalba. Atliekami uždegiminių ir epitelinių ląstelių santykio skaičiavimai. Kraujas imamas iš v. cefalica. Buvo pastebėti makšties tepinėlio citologiniai skirtumai tarp trijų tiriamųjų grupių. Uždegiminių su epitelinėmis ląstelėmis santykio vidurkis I grupei – 9,54 ± 3,62, II grupei – 0,09 ± 0,018, III grupei uždegiminių ląstelių nebuvo aptikta, todėl santykis ligus 0. Visose grupėse dominavo bazalinės ląstelės. 75 % kalių, sergančių piometra, konstatuota leukocitozė, 81,5 % granuliocitozė. 12,25 % buvo nustatyta mažakraujystė. 37,50 % gimdos uždegimu sergančioms kalėms išskirta E... The aim of this study is to evaluate cytological changes in vaginal smears of bitches with pyometra, to record changes in total blood count and blood biochemistry, to identify microorganisms isolated from vagina. Other aims are to asses the average age of bitches with the diagnosed pathology; to count days that passed after estrus period and the first clinical signs of pyometra were noticed; to evaluate the rate of mortality. Three groups of animals were evaluated. The 1st one 16 bitches, diagnosed with pyometra. 2nd group 4 bitches, in diestrus period, clinically healthy. 3rd group 4 bitches diagnosed with blood leukocytosis but for other reasons than pyometra or vaginitis. 2nd and 3rd groups served as control groups. Vaginal smears and microbiological samples were taken from vagina with Transwab (UK), the obtained material was smeared on objective glass and coloured with May Grün – Giemsa for microscopical evaluation. Ratio of WBC and epithelial cells was counted. For microbiology sample was smeared on different agars for isolation of various microorganisms. Blood was drawn from v. cefalica. We observed clear cytological diferences between healthy animals and ill with pyometra. Average ratio WBC to epithelial cells for group I 9,54 ± 3,62, for group II 0,09 ± 0,018, for group III no WBC were observed so the ratio is equal to 0. Une reconstitution du tout de la société kalash du Pakistan et plus particulièrement une approche de sa pensée religieuse, à travers 3 ouvrages et 5 articles. Les kalash, 3000 pasteurs-agriculteurs, parlent une langue indo-aryenne et sont polythéistes dans un environnement musulman. 1980 : "kalash, les derniers 'infidèles' de l'hindu-kush" présente l'identité de kalash à partir de leur singularité religieuse. 1984 : "solstice païen, fêtes d'hiver chez les kalash du nord-Pakistan" est un récit ethnologique qui décrit et analyse les cérémonies d'alliance, les fêtes de prestige, les funérailles, et le scenario de la fête du solstice d'hiver. Il s'agit d'une étude de l'organisation sociale et politique, de la mise en évidence du concept de bipolarité pur impur et d'un éclairage de la pensée symbolique par l'analyse de récits chamaniques. 1990 : "le chamanisme des kalash du Pakistan - des montagnards polythéistes face à l'islam" est une étude du syncrétisme religieux des kalash : un héritage de valeurs indo-aryennes mélangé a des croyances autochtones liées a la chasse et au chamanisme, modifie par des influences musulmanes. A detailed examination of the kalash of Pakistan and in particular, their religious thought, via 3 studies and 4 articles. The kalash, 3000 goatherds and farmers, speak an Indo-Aryan language and are polytheists in a Muslim world. 1980: "kalash, the last pagans of the Hindukush" presents the kalash through their unique religion. 1984: "pagan solstice, winter festivals among the kalash in northern Pakistan" is an ethnological account which describes and analyses the alliance rituals, the feasts of merit, funerals and the scenario of the winter solstice festival. It is a study of social and political organization, an examination of the bipolar concept of pure impure as well as an insight into symbolic thought, through the analysis of the stories of the shamans. 1990: "shamanism among the kalash of Pakistan - polytheistic mountain people faced with Islam" is a study of kalash religious syncretism: inherited Indo-Aryan values, aboriginal beliefs linked with hunting and shamanism, modified by Muslim influences. An analysis of the roles of successive shamans who, in a trance, laid down custom and the way of the world; smoothed over the problems both of individuals and groups, sometimes acting as healers. The study includes a comparison with the shamanism of neighboring groups, converts to Islam. An article (1984) is devoted to the funerary statues of the kalash, an element in their ancestor cult. Cette these s'interesse a la version arabe de kalila wa dimna, a partir de "le lion et le bocuf" et "l'expose du propos du livre". L'interet de cetexte reside dans cette organisation selon le principe du roman a tiroirs, avec des digressions et des enchassements qui cadencent de bout en bout son deroulement syntagmatique. La principale question consiste a trouver l'unite qui organise l'ensemble en un tout coherent, et orchestre ce dialogue entre les differents syntagmes. A la lumiere de la theorie semiotique (ecole de paris), et tout en essayant de degager la definition du sujet telle qu'elle ressort de la mise en parallele de deux positions : kalila dimna. Nous avons boserve ces enonces selon deux types de rapport : syntagmatique (rel. De transformation) et paradigmatique (rel. D'equivalence)
This thesis deals with the arabic version of kalila wa dimna, primarily with "the lion and the ox" and "stating the subject of the work", what is of interest in this text is the organisation, based on the principle of the episodic novel, creating digressions and embeddings which pace the syntagmatic unfolding of the text. The principal question is what organises these various elements into a coherent whole, and orchrstrates the dialogue between the different syntagms. In the light of semiotic theory (paris school), and while attempting to define the subject as it emerges from this parallel between two positions, kalila dimna, we have observed these utterances according to two types of relations : syntagmatic (relation of transformation), and paradigmatic (relation of equivalence)

Este trabalho apresenta o jogo kalah, um jogo de origem africana que utiliza o raciocínio matemático. Ao apresentar alguns fatos históricos sobre a cultura africana, além de ter papel interdisciplinar, esta dissertação contribui para a implementação das diretrizes emanadas da Lei 10.639/03. Algumas atividades matemáticas relacionadas com o jogo são sugeridas.
This work introduces kalah, an African game which uses mathematical thinking. Presentig some historical facts on African culture this thesis contributes to implement the directives from Law 10.639/03, besides having an interdisciplinary role. Some mathematical activities related to the game are proposed.

Littérature et politique, deux domaines distincts qui se retrouvent dans un seul livre ; Kalila et Dimna. Ibn al-Muqaffaʻ, à travers un style littéraire qui adopte la parole amusante qui joint l'utile à l'agréable, traite des questions politiques diverses. Notre travail consiste à dévoiler le côté politique du livre sans pour autant écarter sa dimension littéraire. Ainsi, les trois parties de cette étude ont essayé d'analyser premièrement la représentation du politique dans Kalila et Dimna qui passe par le genre de la fable qui instrumentalise les bêtes de manière particulière pour révéler la réalité du monde humain qui ressemble à celle de la jungle. Puis, deuxièmement, elle a abordé le lien existant entre le discours imaginaire et l'action politique, considérée comme la finalité des démarches entreprises dans l'exercice du pouvoir. Ainsi, nous avons traité des points liés à la conservation du pouvoir et à sa stabilisation comme nous avons évoqué le rapport entre le pouvoir et le savoir. Enfin, nous avons consacré la troisième partie à l'analyse des fondements qui servent d'assise pour l'action politique. Nous en avons étudié trois, il s'agit de la violence, de l'obéissance et de l'esprit de justice.

This thesis analyzes the thermodynamics of a power system coupling two renewable heat sources: low-temperature geothermal and a high-temperature solar. The process, referred to as a dual-temperature geothermal-solar Kalina hybrid cycle, is analyzed in detail and then compared to appropriate single-heat source power systems, in order to assess any thermodynamic synergies. With increasing demand for more efficient renewable sources of power generation, a plant design where the working fluid is heated (and partially vaporized) by low- to medium-temperature geothermal brine, before being further vaporized by solar heat, presents an opportunity for efficient operation of the power plant. Given a set of design parameters and the constrained optimization of decision variables, a design basis plant configuration is first chosen. Then, the power output attained by the Kalina hybrid is compared to that attained by a combination of a geothermal organic Rankine cycle and a solar standalone steam cycle, with the same boundary conditions. The Kalina hybrid plant is found to produce 9.5 MW of power, with 100 kg/s of geothermal brine and a solar-to-geothermal heat input ratio constrained to 1. The system performance is increasing in the working fluid low pressure and decreasing in the ammonia molar concentration, at the cost of a corresponding increase in solar-to-geothermal heat input ratio. On a design power comparison basis, the hybrid configuration displays no thermodynamic synergy between geothermal and solar energy modes. Specifically, the hybrid plant produces 29% less net power than the combined single-energy mode plants. No assessment of possible economic synergies is attempted. Potential changes to the current Kalina hybrid cycle that can lead to higher thermodynamic performance include regenerating heat within the cycle; using the solar high quality heat source in alternative locations in the cycle; employing one pressure-turbine loop instead of two; using reheat between the two turbines; and investigating other plausible working fluid mixtures including hydrocarbons and refrigerants.

Abstract:
Senescence, the progressive loss of growth potential culminating in death, is common among Kauaian strains of Neurospora intermedia. Senescence is initiated by the insertion of kalilo DNA into the mitochondrial DNA. Mitochondrial DNA molecules carrying the insert accumulate and death occurs when the insert is equimolar with the mitochondrial DNA. The inserted form of kalilo DNA is referred to as mtlS-kalDNA. Studies on the somatic transmission of mtlS-kalDNA in ascospore series have revealed that kalilo DNA is capable of assuming new locations within the mitochondrial DNA. It is proposed that these novel insertions originate from intramitochondrial movement and an autonomous form of kalilo DNA, mtFF-kalDNA, is predicted to be an intermediate in movement. Novel insertion of kalilo DNA appears to depend on the form of mtlS-kalDNA transmitted sexually. If a mutagenic insert is transmitted, senescence is initiated at the onset of vegetative growth of the ascospores and no novel insertions are detected. The lifespans of these ascospores are quite short, death occurring in 10 subcultures or less. Transmission of a nonmutagenic insert delays the onset of senescence until either a novel insertion or a rearrangement of the transmitted insert occurs. The lifespans of these ascospores usually exceed 10 subcultures and are variable. Information obtained from tetrad analysis has revealed that novel insertion of kalilo DNA may also be under the influence of the host genome. A senescent Kauaian strain was identified which shows some but not all characteristics of kalilo senescence. In this strain and its derivatives, the behaviour of mtlS-kalDNA is erratic and in, some cultures the characteristic mitochondrial biochemical deficiencies, normally accompanying kalilo senescence, are not observed. It is suspected that kalDNA is not responsible for senescence in this strain and its derivatives but rather some other unknown factor is affecting the normal growth patterns of these cultures. Kauaian strains were surveyed for the presence of dsRNA to determine whether kalDNA has a viral origin. Only one senescent strain contains detectable amounts of dsRNA which was not homologous with a kalDNA probe. The survey identified six nonKauaian strains which contain dsRNA and seven dsRNA species were delineated. Although the presence of dsRNA is not relevant to kalilo senescence, analysis of dsRNA in a genetically-well defined organism like Neurospora may give insight into the significance of dsRNA in fungi in general.

Abstract:
The primary objective of this work is to determine the Kalina cycle's suitability for thermal power conversion from a pressurized water reactor. Several previous papers have examined this application, but these either lack proof of concept or make unfeasible assumptions. This work expands current knowledge by simulating the Kalina cycle and comparing it to current pressurized water reactor Rankine cycles in order to identify which is more efficient. Prerequisite to the modeling is a simulation tool capable of modeling the thermodynamics of ammonia/water mixtures. Instead of using an existing program, a new one called Clearwater is used. This tool is based on a preexisting Gibbs free energy "super" equation of state. Algorithms for vapor-liquid equilibrium calculations and phase identification are presented. Clearwater will be distributed online as open-source code to aid future developers of ammonia/water power and refrigeration cycles. A comparison of single-stage Kalina and Rankine cycles driven by heat from PWR core coolant suggests that the Kalina cycle is not well suited to the application. Any benefit from the Kalina cycle's ability to match temperature profiles in the boiling region of the steam generator is outweighed by other drawbacks. These include the cycle's 1) increased turbine exhaust pressure and 2) lower average heat absorption temperature caused by its working fluid's relatively high liquid heat capacity, both of which lower efficiency. Having concluded this, an attempt is made to quantify the conditions under which the Kalina cycle produces more power than the Rankine cycle. Both cycles are optimized for a range of heat source inlet and outlet temperatures between 350 ℃ and 525 ℃. When both cycles absorb the same amount of heat from the source"”i.e., when source outlet temperature is constrained"” the Kalina cycle is less effective for small source temperature drops. When outlet temperature is unconstrained, the Kalina cycle outperforms the Rankine cycle for all but the lowest inlet temperature. This is due to the Kalina cycle's non-isothermal boiling profile, which allows it to absorb low temperature heat at relatively high pressure. Because of its isothermal boiling profile, the Rankine cycle cannot capture low temperature heat as effectively, so it performs worse over large, unconstrained source temperature drops.

In this master work the influence of calcium ions on the cadmium mobility in the sandy and clay soils was investigated. Work subject - samples of Orthieutric Fluvisol and Calcaric-Endohypogleyic Luvisol topsoils taken from arable lands in Balbieriskis distirict. Work objective - to investigate the influence of calcium ions on the cadmium adsorption-desorption processes in the model systems of different kind of soil-Cd(NO3)2-Ca(NO3)2 simulating pH, Cd2+ and Ca2+ amounts. Work methods - the investigated soil samples were agitated for 1 hour with Cd(NO3)2 and Ca(NO3)2 solutions of various concentrations. The solutions were made in the 0.03M NaNO3 for the constant ionic strength maintaining. The Cd amounts in the equilibrium solution after the adsorption were determined with atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS). The Cd desorption was investigated in the samples after adsorption using 0.05M NH4-EDTA (pH 7) solution as extractant. The Cd amount in extract was determined with AAS. Work results - results of the research showed that in the clay soil were accumulated more mobile Cd ions under the influence of Ca ions than in the sandy soil. The clay soil adsorbed for 25 % less and desorbed for 77 % more mobile Cd ions than sandy soil. When soil contamination with Cd was increased from 8 till 40 mg/kg, the Cd adsorption increased about 17 % in both alkaline (pH 8) and acidic (pH 4) medium, while in the sandy soil it decreased about 7 % at pH 8 and increased about 3 % at pH 4. A total of 12 multicomponent solutions of various compositions were developed in which we attempted to blend calcium and phosphoric salts, which usually precipitate and form sediments. Among the medicines of similar composition and purpose registered in Lithuania, there is none containing all three important macroelements: Ca, Mg, and P. After the tests, one of the solutions tested – C2 – was registered in Lithuania and was manufactured by AB Ukmergės Biofabrikas (Lithuania) for several years. Production technology of the developed preparation – Kamavetas – is patented (patent No. LT 4509 B. 1999 05 25). Kamavetas is the first preparation created and manufactured in Lithuania, which contains Ca, Mg, and P salts and glucose. It is convenient to use, because the animal receives several mineral substances within a single infusion.

These reorganization and revitalization processes change the users of the place as well as its physical structure. Thus, this change also creates deep impacts on human-place relationship. concepts. Studying these concepts is difficult due to their subjectivity
however, it is necessary to understand the change of place in all dimensions. It is possible to observe a similar process in Kaleiç
i, the historic city center of Antalya. This research examines the process of change in Kaleiç
i over the last five decades regarding the impacts on the &lsquo
sense of place&rsquo

place image&rsquo
. It identifies &lsquo
physical setting&rsquo

activity&rsquo
and &lsquo
meaning&rsquo
as observable components of these concepts
and it examines the change in these components through the in-depth interviews with three different user groups (i.e., users before 1980, those after 1980 and present users) and cognitive maps. The research considers that the first conservation practices in Kaleiç
