Abstract:
In the field of poetry and drama, an equally extraordinary genius rich creator like Mahakavi Kalidas, will be rare in the history of world literature, who has made beautiful and accurate use of different colors as per the context in his works. Mahakavi Kalidasa's fascination for colors must have been in his psyche from the very beginning of his life, as special references to colors are found in his first work 'Ritamsakhya'. He has presented such a scheme of different colors in his creations from place to place, which easily captivates the mind. Mahakavi Kalidas has the amazing poetic power to make his similes meaningful and unique through color.

Abstract:
Kalidas’s plays are replete with descriptive details of flora and fauna and vivid pictures of naturedrawn from diverse sources and rich imagery. His works particularly “Ritusambharam’’, “Meghdutam’’ and ‘’Abhijnanashakuntalam’’ also show a symbiotic relationship between man and nature. Though there are many works on his plays and epicscritiquingnature, its grandeur and other related aspects. This paper attempts to critique the Ecocritical concept of Romantic sublime in “Abhijnanashakuntalam “. This paper examines the ecosystem presented in this play by Kalidas, which endorses the emotional experiences of the wonder of nature. It also critiques the text with reference to Lee Rozelle’s concept of ‘ ecosublime’ which suggests that sublime encounter with nature inspires awe which further invites ecological catastrophe as well as environmental responsibility. This paper further discusses the profundity of thought, emotion and spirit represented by spectacular landscapes, characters and living and non-living objects in the forest. It further interrogates the ecocentric setting of the play which extends an egalitarian perspective with respect to all elements of nature and acknowledges the intrinsic value of all living beings. The paper concludes that ‘Abhjjnashakuntalam’ presents the ecocritical perspective of society, culture and gender, which highlight nature and evoke emotional experiences with awe and wonder in postmodern world faced with danger of environmental catastrophe.

Abstract:
Sri Aurobindo wrote around eleven verse plays, much in the tradition of the Elizabethan poetic plays. Many similarities and equally numbered distinctions may be traced midst the dramatic output of William Shakespeare and Sri Aurobindo. However, of the eleven plays only five plays are complete, in that they have a five act structure, namely- Viziers of Bassora, Eric, Rodogune, Perseus: The Deliverer and Vasavadutta. The genealogy of all these plays may be traced to the legends or myths, of the various ancient cultures which populated the world and shaped its history. Irrespective of their different myths of origin, Sri Aurobindo, much like Shakespeare employs these stories only as the raw clay, while he mould the statue out of it, according to his own vision, that is the Evolution of Man. An analysis of Sri Aurobindo’s plays elucidates the unparalleled range and vision to which his plays bear testimony. The notable feature of Sri Aurobindo’s plays is that they portray diverse cultures and nations in different aeons, populated with an array of characters, moods and sentiments. Sri Aurobindo spent almost all his growing years in England, studying English and other classical literatures and the impact of this reading is discernible in his plays. He seems to be particularly impressed by the Elizabethan drama and employs its technique in matters of plot construction and characterisation. He is said to have perfected the English blank verse which he deftly displays in the dialogues of his characters. His plays can thus be said to be a unique blend of the Sanskrit and Western philosophical and aesthetic theories as the plot, the climax, the progression and the theme is unmistakably Indian. He seems to have been influenced by the Sanskrit playwrights like Bhasa, Kalidas and Bhavabhuti and all five plays are imbued with the poetry and romance which is similar in spirit and flavour of the distinctive dramatic type which was the signature style of Bhasa, Kalidas and Bhavabhuti, and simultaneously preserve the Aurobindonian undertones. The paper attempts to elucidate the ‘Evolution of Man’ which Sri Aurobindo mounts through his plays.

English : Most of the paintings of internationally renowned painter and sculptor Tyeb Mehta, honored with Kalidas and Padma Bhushan, have been influenced by many incidents in the childhood, Edward Munsch and Kokoshka had a great influence on Tyeb, born in Kheda, Gujarat, in his art style from time to time. But change is seen. In the initial paintings, the expression has been given space, in the medium level pictures, the expression of the space has been replaced by the bifurcated two- dimensional picture and the empty space, the diagonal took its place in the final pictures, under which started drawing pictures in triangles. With festivals, Kali, etc., he was counted among the most expensive artists of India. During his lifetime, he produced very few artifacts and died in 2009. Apart from the sculptor, he was also a film maker. Abstract:
Cakuntala, vikramorvashi and malavikagnimitra are the three dramas of an indian dramatist named "kalidasa". He lived during 600's ad. They are analysed here in their structural and semiotic aspects. Through the study of the imaginary space, created by the author, through the acting of characters, and through the expressions used on stage, it seems that the poetical and suggestive aspects dominates the dramatic and narrative aspects. This poetry which emanates from the text, as well as from the various formes of art, appears in such caracteristic elements of indian drama as "abhinaya" and "mudra". Destinated to provoke the spectators' emotions as well as to instill a contemplative condition of a suggested world, this poetry is an invitation to venture into an imaginary world, where religion and its socio-cultural order and structure are attributed to order and beauty

Abstract:
The Swedish television series “Kalifat” premiered on January 12th, 2020 and quickly became heavily debated in the Swedish media for its portrayal of Islam and Muslim people. The aim of this research is to study the arguments and attitudes found in this debate and relate them to the theoretical framework of media dissemination and mediatization. The theoretical perspectives creating the foundation for this study is the formative, reflexive and representative media dissemination as presented by Hodkinson (2017). The mediatization theory will also be used to situate the debate and the series itself within a broader context. The empirical material used in this study consists of 10 Swedish debate articles published between January 19th and February 18th 2020.  A qualitative argumentation analysis has been used to identify the attitudes and arguments in the debate. In addition, these have been coded, categorized and structured in accordance with a systematic text condensation. The analysis shows that there are both positive and negative attitudes towards the series, with most of the arguments in the debate conveying a negative attitude towards the series and its portrayal of Muslims and Islam. These arguments are mainly related to stereotypification, prejudices and negative representation. Arguments related to a more positive attitude towards “Kalifat” is connected to the journalists view of what the series is trying to impart upon the audience, and its realistic representation of an important topic in society.   In relation to the three concepts of media dissemination the study has concluded that the different arguments relate to the interconnectedness of media and religion. The study shows that most of the arguments put forward can be understood in this context by implementing the understanding of media as conduits, language and environments. The study also concludes that both the debate and the series itself can be interpreted and understood in relation to all these media functions. The results found in the study also correlate with previous research on the subject.

Abstract:
D'equivalence)
This thesis deals with the arabic version of kalila wa dimna, primarily with "the lion and the ox" and "stating the subject of the work", what is of interest in this text is the organisation, based on the principle of the episodic novel, creating digressions and embeddings which pace the syntagmatic unfolding of the text. The principal question is what organises these various elements into a coherent whole, and orchrstrates the dialogue between the different syntagms. In the light of semiotic theory (paris school), and while attempting to define the subject as it emerges from this parallel between two positions, kalila dimna, we have observed these utterances according to two types of relations : syntagmatic (relation of transformation), and paradigmatic (relation of equivalence)

Abstract:

Full text
Abstract:
A new power generation technology often referred to as the Kalina cycle, is being developed as a direct replacement for the Rankine steam cycle. It may be applied to any thermal heat source, low or high temperature. Among several Kalina cycle variations there is one that is particularly well suited as a bottoming cycle for utility combined cycle applications. It is the subject of this paper. Using an ammonia/water mixture as the working fluid and a condensing system based on absorption refrigeration principles the Kalina bottoming cycle outperforms a triple pressure steam cycle by 16 percent. Additionally, this version of the Kalina cycle is characterized by an intercooling feature between turbine stages, diametrically opposite to normal reheating practice in steam plants. Energy and mass balances are presented for a 200 MWe Kalina bottoming cycle. Kalina cycle performance is compared to a triple pressure steam plant. At a peak cycle temperature of 950° F the Kalina plant produces 223.5 MW vs. 192.6 MW for the triple pressure steam plant, an improvement of 16.0 percent. Reducing the economizer pinch point to 15° F results in a performance improvement in excess of 30 percent.

Abstract:
The Kalina Cycle utilizes a mixture of ammonia and water as the working fluid in a vapor power cycle. When the liquid mixture is heated the more volatile ammonia tends to vaporize first and at a lower temperature than does pure water. This property of ammonia-water mixtures makes possible a better match to the enthalpy-temperature curve of a hot gas heat source such as a gas turbine exhaust and also permits circulation of fluids of different composition in different parts of the cycle. Taking advantage of the latter feature, condensation (absorption) can be done at slightly above atmospheric pressure with a low concentration of ammonia, while heat input is at a higher concentration for optimum cycle performance. Computer models have been used to optimize a simplified form of the cycle and to compare results for a more complex version proposed by El-Sayed and Tribus. A method of balancing the cycle was developed and key parameters for optimizing the cycle identified.

Abstract:
A number of studies have shown that the Kalina cycle, using an ammonia-water mixture, can reach higher efficiencies than the normal steam Rankine cycle. In this paper, the Kalina cycle, with a gas turbine topping cycle is applied to cogeneration for district heating. Since the district heating temperatures vary with the heat demand over the year, this application may prove to be especially suitable for the Kalina cycle with its many degrees of freedom in the condensation system. A theoretical comparison between different bottoming cycles producing heat for a typical Scandinavian district heating network has been carried out. The Kalina cycle, the Rankine cycle with a mixture of ammonia and water as the working fluid and the normal single pressure steam Rankine cycle are compared. It is shown that a simple Rankine cycle with an ammonia-water mixture as the working fluid produces more heat and power than the steam Rankine cycle. The best results, however, are obtained for the Kalina cycle, which generates considerably higher heat and power output than the steam Rankine cycle.

Abstract:
A multi-component (NH3/H2O) Kalina type cycle that utilizes the exhaust from a gas turbine is investigated in this paper. The turbine inlet pressure, 5.96∗106 N/m2 (850 psig), and temperature, 755.372 K (900 F), were kept constant as well as the working fluid temperature at the condenser outlet, 290 K (62.3 F). The NH3 mass fraction at the turbine inlet was varied along with the separator temperature, and the effects on the cycle efficiency were studied. The relationship between turbine inlet flow and separator inlet flow is shown in this paper in addition to the upper and lower NH3 mass fraction bounds. The multi-component working fluid cycle investigated is 10% to 20% more efficient than a Rankine cycle at the same border conditions.

Abstract:
Low-temperature Kalina cycle power generation system shows great potential in the region of solar energy utilization. The variation in solar radiation affects the heat source temperature of Kalina cycle, and additionally the cooling water temperature also varies with the seasons. In this paper, the mathematical model of a Kalina cycle used for low-temperature solar power generation is established to investigate the off-design performance of the Kalina cycle under off-design heat source and cooling water temperature using three control strategies including constant pressure regulation method, sliding pressure regulation method and modified sliding pressure regulation method. The results show that when the heat source temperature varies, the modified sliding pressure regulation method could keep the cycle performance and the efficiencies of turbine and pump at a relatively high value, and it could be applied in a wider range of heat source temperature. When the cooling water temperature varies, different control strategies have similar influence on the variations of the cycle performance and the efficiencies of turbine and pump. Based on performance comparison, the modified sliding pressure regulation method is determined to be the optimum control strategy for the Kalina cycle under off-design conditions.

Abstract:
An experimental project is now underway to demonstrate the advantages of the Kalina cycle technology. A Kalina Cycle Experimental Plant (KCEP) will be built as a 3 MW bottoming cycle using the waste heat from a facility within the Energy Technology Engineering Center (ETEC), a U.S. Department of Energy laboratory located in Canoga Park, California. The design of the experimental plant is presented, including the process flow diagram, heat and mass balance, and specifications for the plant’s major equipment; the waste heat boiler, turbine generator and distillation/condensation subsystem. Using a mixture of ammonia and water at a mass ratio of 70/30, and a new condenser design based on absorption principles, the Kalina cycle plant will attempt to demonstrate its superiority over the Rankine steam cycle. Based on single pressure designs at comparable peak cycle temperatures, the Kalina cycle’s output should exceed that of the steam cycle by 25 percent.

Abstract:
The intercooling of multi-stage compressors contributes to reducing the power consumption of compressors and the waste heat is generally taken away by cooling water, which is a great waste of energy. This paper employs an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) or a Kalina cycle to recover the waste heat of compressor intercooling. The mathematical models of ORC and Kalina cycle are established by MATLAB software to simulate the ORC system and the Kalina cycle system under steady-state conditions. A parametric analysis is conducted to evaluate the effects of several key thermodynamic parameters on the system performance. In addition, a parametric optimization is carried out to find the optimum performance of waste heat recovery system from thermodynamic aspect. The results showed that, for the ORC system, there is an optimum value of turbine inlet pressure with the state of working fluid being saturated vapor that yields the minimum net power consumption of the system; whereas for the Kalina cycle system, in some ranges of accessible operation conditions, a higher turbine inlet pressure, a lower turbine inlet temperature and a lower ammonia mass fraction of basic solution could obtain a less net power consumption of the system. The optimization results indicated that the Kalina cycle system shows a better performance than the ORC system.
