Objetiva-se analisar a história do judô recifense e suas dimensões educacionais e civilizatórias por meio da técnica de análise de conteúdo das falas de antigos senseis de judô em Recife. Constatou-se que o judô possibilita a aprendizagem, formação para a vida constituída por regras e a formação ética/moral diante da sociedade, através de fatores como disciplina e hierarquia.
