In this paper I compare and contrast Natorp’s and Husserl’s philosophies as to their programmatic and systematic profiles. I will begin by giving an assessment of their relationship and mutual influence, something that many scholars believe had been done exhaustively in Kern’s initial study of 1964 on the relation between Husserl and Kant and the neo-Kantians. Indeed, this topic – in general, the relation between phenomenology and „critical“ philosophy – deserves a new look now that more material has appeared in the Husserliana, forcefully demonstrating the „transcendental Husserl“ and the Kan

Abstract. The article attempts to define the uniqueness of the leading trend in world philosophy of the late 19th – early 20th centuries. Moreover, the emphasis is placed on two important aspects of this uniqueness: the attitude of neo-Kantians to Kant and their persistent desire to begin the tradition of transcendental philosophy with the philosophy of Plato. In the attitude of neo-Kantians to Kant, the article highlights, first of all, four main features. The Kant of neo- Kantians is, firstly, historical Kant, secondly, systemic Kant, thirdly, Kant as the «spirit» of transcendental philosoph

This paper takes the first steps of a comprehensive assessment of this account in order to further the more general discussion of the feasibility of a Kantian theory of scientific thought experiments. Such a discussion is overdue. To this effect the broader question is addressed as to what motivates a Kantian approach. Et si c'est le cas, dans quelle mesure cette philosophie s'inspire-t-elle de la philosophie kantienne? Abstract I outline Kant’s metaphysics and epistemology, historical interpretations of Kant and the 1870 to 1920 neo-Kantian movement. I outline how we can see science as being objective even though all knowledge is conditioned by something we apply to the world. I outline two steps to formulating scientific knowledge: bringing data under concepts and systematising. I compare my position to scientific realism, anti-realism, constructivism and critical realism.
