Abstract:

Finanční analýza posuzuje současnou finanční situaci společnosti KAROSA, a.s. v letech 2001 - 2005 a odhaduje její další budoucí rozvoj. Práce je zpracována z pohledu externího uživatele - investora, který tuto analýzu využije ke svému rozhodování o potencionálním poskytnutí kapitálu společnosti. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí, první se zabývá metodologickým pohledem na dané postupy a ve druhé části jsou tyto postupy využity přímo s ohledem na danou společnost. Na závěr práce je zpracováno souhrnné hodnocení všech daných postupů a z nich vyplývajích závěrů.

The doctoral thesis called "Five Plays of Karel Čapek:Primary Research" deals with drama works of one of the most outstanding and extraordinary personalities in the Czech theatre and culture. So why "primary research"? Abstract:

Användningsområden för 3D ökar hela tiden, och allt fler företag väljer att

använda sig av 3D tekniken istället för av traditionella tekniker. Som avslutning

på mina studier har jag byggt en 3D-karta över Stockholm för Dagens Nyheters

grafikavdelning. 3D-kartan ska fungera som ett verktyg när de skapar grafik.

Under framställningen av den här rapporten har min huvudfrågeställning varit hur

man framställer en informativ 3D-karta.

Utifrån den frågeställningen har jag sedan genom stöd i litteratur byggt 3Dkartan

och testat materialet på tre olika fokusgrupper.

Utprovningarna visade att kartan i dagsläget ligger på en tillräckligt hög

detaljnivå för att kunna lokalisera sig på ett visst avstånd. Vill man använda kartan

för närmare zoomningar bör detaljnivån utvecklas. Annars var fokusgrupperna

överlag nöjda med färgerna i kartan och tyckte att färgskalan bidrog med en större

förståelse.

Abstract:

This master thesis is focused on analyzing the development of cello concerts written by Russian composer, respected cellist and teacher Karl Julievich Davydov. In the first place, the analysis is about the upward development of the genre – from virtuosic type of concerts to virtuosic-symphonic type of cello concerts. This thesis is divided into three main chapters. The first chapter in the three subsections is focused on typing and characterization of string concerts. The second chapter in the six subsections devoted to the context of Western European traditions and peculiarities of the development of cello art in Russia. The third chapter in two separate sections and four smaller subsections focus on the personality of Karl Julievich Davydov, periodization of his work and analysis of his cello concerts.

Abstract:

Data can be presented in many different ways depending on the type of data and the purpose of the presentation. Sogeti has customers with logistic data that they want to use to show their customers and visitors in their office what they are working with. The goal of this project was to take this data and come up with a way of visualizing it on an interactive 3D map and create a proof of concept to show the idea of how the basic functions of the map could work. Three different frameworks for creating 3D maps were compared and based on their functions and after testing them Arcgis were chosen for the implementation of the proof of concept. The implementation was then tested to see how adding more objects to the map affected the performance of the implementation. Frameworks for further development were looked in to but did not affect the decision of choosing a framework for the proof of concept.
Data kan visas på flera olika sätt beroende på vilken typ av data det är och syftet med det som ska visas. Sogeti har kunder med logistik data som de vill använda för att visa sina kunder och besökare vad de arbetar med. Målet med det här projektet var att använda den här datan och visualisera den på en interaktiv 3D karta och skapa ett proof of concept för att visa hur basfunktionerna för kartan kan fungera. Tre olika ramverk för att skapa 3D kartor jämfördes och baserat på deras funktioner och efter att ha testat dem så valdes Arcgis till implementationen av ett proof of concept. Implementationen testades sedan för att se hur prestandan påverkades när fler objekt lades till kartan. Ramverk för att fortsatt utveckling tittades på men påverkade inte valet för att välja ett ramverk till proof of concept.

Abstract:

Historically there has been considerable debate over the origin of karaka (Corynocarpus laevigatus J.R. et G. Forst.) In contrast, the extent and importance of pre-historic arboriculture in New Zealand has received little attention in the literature. This study reviews the ecology and ethnobotony of karaka and investigates its cultural and natural biogeography. Maori migration traditions frequently state that karaka was introduced to New Zealand. However, molecular evidence and finds of fossil seeds of the late Oligocene age show that karaka is endemic to New Zealand. Therefore, Maori traditions probably relate to the translocation and cultivation of karaka within the New Zealand region, for which there is abundant anecdotal evidence. Karaka fruits were a valuable addition to the Maori diet and were likely to have functioned as a replacement for traditional Polynesian precedents and entailed a rigorous regime of steaming and soaking to rid the kernal of its toxic elements. There is data to suggest selection for fruit size and/or nutritional value in cultivated karaka populations. A database of karaka distribution was compiled and populations classified as �cultural� or �unknown� on the basis of spatial association with archaeological sites. Groves classed as cultural were assumed to be cultivated or translocated by pre-historic Maori. Lack of effective seed dispersal by birds and the longevity of the trees, mean that the contemporary distribution of karaka provides a reasonable template for the extent of its prehistoric translocation and cultivation within New Zealand. Karaka has a distinct cultural and natural biogeography. The greatest overlap between cultural and unknown trees occurred in the northern North Island while the majority of trees in the lower North Island, and all trees in the South Island were classed as cultural. Prior to the arrival of Polynesians in New Zealand, karaka was probably restricted in distribution to the Northland/Auckland region. Its natural range was then extended by human translocation and cultivation to the lower North Island, South Island, Kermadec Islands, Chatham Islands and many other in-shore islands off New Zealand. Climate variables were fitted to the distribution data and discriminant analysis used to further test the classification of karaka into cultural and unknown populations. Significant differences were found in climatic parameters between groups. Cultural karaka were found in enviroments with greater solar radiation seasonality, higher evaporative demands and greater soil moisture deficits than unknown karaka. The climate profile of karaka is biased towards the same environmental correlates of pa and pit site locations, further indicating that karaka was a cultivated tree crop. It is concluded that the importance and extent of karaka arboriculture, and probably that of other endemic tree species currently restricted to the northern North Island of cultural karaka is biased towards the same environmental correlates of pa and pit site locations, further indicating that karaka was a cultivated tree crop. The extensive translocation of karaka by Maori means that it has the potential, with the application of molecular methods, to serve as a marker for prehistoric settlement and mobility. Preliminary work was begun on this aspect and a predictive model is presented of the possible relationships within and between populations of karaka. It is concluded that the importance and extent of karaka arboriculture, and probably that of other endemic tree species, has previously been overlooked. This has implications for our view of certain plant communities as unmodified by humans, and provides an impetus to protect surface vegetation as an integral part of some prehistoric archaeological sites.

Abstract:

Borrowing from standpoint and postmodern feminist epistemologies, this thesis proposes to deconstruct the concept "violent women" and challenge the traditional 'bad'/'mad'/'other' framework of understanding women who engage in violent behaviour. The concept decontextualizes differences between women who commit violence and the stereotypical framework hinders any alternative understanding of their individual cases. Using contextual constructionism and Best's (2001) criteria for identifying claims as a theoretical framework, a qualitative content analysis of Canadian newspaper articles between July 2004 and July 2006 explored the news media's representation of Karla Homolka when she was released from prison in July 2005. While the stereotypical concepts that this study sought to transcend (i.e. discussing Karla through the 'bad'/'mad'/'other' framework) emerged throughout the coverage, insights into how the media constructs "identities" that people come to "know"' also emerged. The media's representation of Homolka at the time of her release was concluded to be hyppereal; a simulated character named "Karla" that must Canadians are familiar with. Yet this character may or may not resemble the actual Karla who currently resides somewhere in Montreal.

Abstract:

Today there are a big need for a system that delivers overview of all available units for different municipalities and shipping- and security companies due to the increasing requirements for efficiency. The purpose with this graduation thesis is to find out which systems that is suitable to use while developing cost-effective software for positioning and to produce a prototype for such solution. This assignment has been done at the request of PocketMobile Communications AB. PocketMobile is a company that are specialized on delivering modern mobile software solutions and systems to companies with their own vehicle fleet or mobile workers. This master thesis can be split into two separate parts, the theoretic- and the practical part. The theoretic part includes producing a number of functional requirements in cooperation with PocketMobile and comparing the available systems against the function requirements. The practical part deal with the development of a prototype that demonstrates the software recommended. The development tools that best matched the functionality requirements when the selection was made in May 2007 were Map24 and OpenLayers. The system that was selected to use while developing the prototype was Map24, because this product matches all of the requirements and it is also suited for professional usage regarding support, scalability and reliability. Map24 also have some advanced functions like ability to route plan for example. The prototype that has been developed is web based and the graphic design is similar to Google Maps.

Abstract:

This master thesis describes a detached house, requirements for the detached house, price, technical-economic index and card of cost indicator. The author performed an analysis of selected houses and itemized budgets of selected houses. Different shapes, technologies and solutions of materials are included in the analysis. The author, from the analysis, inferred the behavior of technical-economic index (TEI) of detached houses. The author described behavior in the particular and sub models. The author suggested methodology of calculation of the price data, the spatial data and the structure of price TEICF2 (technical-economic index, complex formula, version 2) of planned detached house. The author founded his methodology on particular and sub models. The principle of methodology TEICF2 consists in the analogy of the planned detached house with the model with same parameters. The author implemented TEICF2 into application dyCBI. Application dyCBI is working on Microsoft Excel.

Detta är ett kombinerat forsknings- och utvecklingsarbete. Syftet är att öka förståelsen för nioåriga elevers mentala karta och förmåga att utveckla denna. Ett utvecklingsarbete om den mentala kartan ska göras med hjälp av en lektion kring världskartans utseende och funktion.Tankar kring ämnet väcktes i samband med vår B-uppsats Barns mentala karta – av vad påverkas den? som vi skrev våren 2005. Vi har valt att använda metoden aktionsforskning, vilket är en metod som gör oss både till forskare och praktiker. Som praktiker har vi planerat och genomfört ett undervisningstillfälle utifrån en problemställning. Som forskare har vi sedan analyserat och diskuterat kring resultatet. För att undervisningstillfället skulle tillgodose så många elever som möjligt anpassade vi den till flera inlärningsstilar. Lektionen bestod av både diskussioner och praktiskt arbete. Ett, av oss, hemmatillverkat världenpussel var en stor del av det praktiska.Som forskare menar vi att det resultat vi fått fram visar att det går att utveckla nioåriga elevers mentala karta till att innefatta världskartan. Vi har också insett att lärandemiljön har stor betydelse för utvecklingen av den mentala världskartan. Finns inte olika typer av kartor tillgängliga för eleverna, så kan det vara svårt att utveckla den mentala kartan.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on relations between a candidate and a political party and how these relations are influenced by political marketing and media. Political party TOP 09 and its leader Karel Schwarzenberg are studied during the political campaign preceding Czech legislative election in May 2010. The study is based on TOP 09's documents and interviews of Karel Schwarzenberg in Czech media. Theoretical part of this thesis is dedicated to concepts of political marketing, influence of media and models of communication. Content analysis compares themes and ways to speak about them used by the party and by Schwarzenberg. Qualitative analysis asks if the party can make use of Schwrazenberg for its own campaign and how strength and what sort of are relations between TOP 09 and its leader.

Abstract:

The main topic of the thesis is to suggest and realize the measuring card with analog inputs and outputs. In the first part of this thesis we are concerned with key-elements of measuring cards, respectively ADC and DAC, and here are explained all their activities. Then we attend of choosing parts for suggested measuring card as is voltage reference, power supply and operational amplifier. Among others we are concerned with a question of protecting inputs against overvoltage and reversing of polarity and beside against disturbance. Then follows analysis of used microcontroller ADUC831 with description of its used outskirts. Here is described the stored for measured samples of MMC memory, how to work with it and the programme service. The last chapter describes suggested firmware and servicing programme for PC. In fine we value the quality of measuring card and its mistakes.

Abstract:

Hemometrijskim metodama (deskriptivna statistika, analiza glavnih komponenti, veštačke neuronske mreže i fazi optimizacija) analizirani su rezultati procesa osmotske dehidratacije mesa srebrnog karaša, sa ciljem unapređenja efikasnosti osmotskog tretmana i pronalaženja optimalnih tehnoloških parametara.Osmotski tretman se odvijao u tri osmotska rastvora (vodeni rastvor natrijum hlorida isaharoze, kombinacija vodenog rastvora natrijum hlorida i saharoze i melase i melasa šećerne repe) različitih koncentracija, na četiri temperature (10°C, 20°C, 35°C i 50°C) i pri tri vremena procesa (1, 3 i 5h). Posmatrani su sledeći odzivi sistema: gubitak vode, priraštaj suve materije, povećanje sadržaja suve materije, sniženje aktivnosti vode i promena sadržaja minerala (Na, K, Ca i Mg). Karakterizacijom osmotski dehidriranog ribljeg polupoizvoda, pojašnjeni su efekti osmotskog tretmana i inovatinog osmotskog rastvora na senzorne osobine, hemijski i mikrobiološki profil tretiranog mesa ribe. Rezultati ispitivanja pokazuju da se primenom procesa osmotske dehidratacije povećava gubitak vode, priraštaj suve materije i sadržaj suve materije u svim uzorcima mesa srebrnog karaša. Za sva tri osmotska rastvora, najveće vrednosti dobijene su nakon 5 časova, pri najvišim temperaturama i u najvećim koncentracijama rastvora.Povećavanjem temperature procesa, koncentracije rastvora i vremena trajanja procesa, povećan je sadržaj posmatranih minerala u tretiranom mesu ribe. RezultatiANOVA testa pokazali su da na vrednosti posmatranih odziva statistički značajno utičusva tri parametra: vreme, temperatura i koncentracija. PCA analizom procesa utvrđeno je da su pri izračunavanju prve glavne komponente najveći uticaj imale vrednosti svih odziva osim aw vrednosti, dok je ona najviše uticala na proračun druge glavne komponente. Iako su modeli veštačkih neuronskih mreža kompleksniji od modela polinoma drugog reda, mreže su pokazale bolji učinak usled visokenelinearnosti razvijenih sistema. Primenom fazi optimizacije postignute optimalne vrednosti procesnih parametara za vodeni rastvor natrijum hlorida i saharoze su bile na nižim temperaturama i nižim koncentracijama rastvora, dok su za rastvore sa melasom šećerne repe optimalne vrednosti na maksimumima posmatranih opsega temperature i koncentracije rastvora. Procesom osmotske dehidratacije smanjen je inicijalni broj bakterija u mesu srebrnog karaša. Hemijskim i senzorskim analizama utvrđeno je da je melasa šećerne repe zbog svog kompleksnog nutritivnog sastavapovoljnije je delovala na promenu hemijskog sastava i senzorne osobine uzoraka u odnosu na druga dva rastvora.
Chemometric methods (descriptive statistics, principal components analysis, artificial neural networks and fuzzy optimization) were used to analyze the results of osmotic dehydration of silver crucian carp, with the aim of improving the efficiency of the osmotic treatment and finding the optimal technological parameters.The osmotic treatment was carried out in three osmotic solution (aqueous sodium chloride and sucrose solution, sugar beet molasses and the combination of these two solutions) of varying concentrations, at four temperatures (10°C, 20°C, 35°C and 50°C) and at three processing times (1, 3 and 5 h). The observed system responses were: water loss, solid gain, increase in dry matter content, reduction of water activityand changes in mineral content (Na, K, Ca and Mg). The characterization of dehydrated fish, explained the effects of osmotic treatment on its sensory properties, chemical and microbiological profile. Results have shown that the application of osmotic dehydration increases water loss, solid gain and dry matter content in all samples of fish meat. For all three osmotic solution, the highest values were obtained after 5h, at the highest temperatures and in the highest concentration of the solution. By increasing the process temperature, concentration and time, increased the mineral content in the fish meat. The results of the ANOVA test have shown that the values of the observed responses significantly affect all three parameters: time, temperature and concentration. PCA analysis process has found that on calculation of the first principal component all response values except aw value had the greatest impact, while aw value had the most influence on the calculation of the other major component. Although models of artificial neural network models are more complex than second order polynomial, the network showed better performance due to the high nonlinearity of the developed system. Application of fuzzy optimization obtained optimal values of the process parameters for aqueous solution of sodium chloride and sucrose were at lower temperatures and lower concentrations of the solution, while the solutions with molasses optimal values of the maxima observed rangesof temperature and solution concentration. The process of osmotic dehydration has reduced the initial number of bacteria in meat silver carp. Chemical and sensory analyzes have shown that the sugar beet molasses due to its complex nutritional composition has a better effect on changing the chemical composition and sensory characteristics of the samples.

Det här arbetet riktar sig till ekonomer i olika företag och även blivande ekonomer som känner till den intensiva debatt som varit kring verksamhetsstyrning och som började med den så kallade Relevance Lost-kritiken. Det balanserade styrkortet som var ett av resultaten av debatten har också diskuterats men till stor del varit okritisk. Styrkortet har fått stor genomslagskraft och verkar ha kommit för att stanna, i alla fall under överskådlig tid. Debatten kring verksamhetsstyrning och det balanserade styrkortet har helt klart minskat i intensitet. Nu har det kommit en fortsättning på det balanserade styrkortet, den strategiska kartan, och den finns det inte särskilt mycket skrivet om. Därför är mitt arbete ett bidrag till diskussionen.

Mitt syfte är att ge förståelse för de möjligheter, men också för de begränsningar som den strategiska kartan har.

Värderingen har sin grund i min hermeneutiska kunskapssyn. Jag har därför i metodavsnittet gett en grundlig beskrivning av främst kunskapssyn och hermeneutik. Mitt arbete har varit en litteraturundersökning och därför finns det även ett grundligt avsnitt kring det. För att uppnå huvudsyftet har arbetet skett i tre steg.

För att skapa förståelse för hur den strategiska kartan är uppbyggd och tänkt att fungera har jag presenterat en rätt fyllig beskrivning av konceptet i det första steget.

Syftet med det andra steget har varit att få fram utvecklingen av styrning mellan det balanserade styrkortet och den strategiska kartan genom att titta på likheter och skillnader. Jämförelsen har byggt mer på att visa likheter och skillnader i den kunskapssyn som präglar de båda koncepten än på att visa faktiska likheter och skillnader. Detta har jag gjort via Jan Lindvalls beskrivning av idégrunder skiljt från teknik och Anthony G Puxtys klassificering i olika skolor. Jag har med hjälp av tankar jag lånat från dem presenterat åtta likheter och nio skillnader.

Eftersom jag i steg två visat på likheter och skillnader mellan de båda styrkoncepten kunde jag sedan i det tredje steget göra en värdering trots att det, som jag berättat tidigare, inte finns speciellt mycket skrivet kring den strategiska kartan. Värderingen har gjorts utifrån mina tankar men det behövdes ändå verktyg för att skapa trovärdighet åt dem. Jag har därför använt författare som varit både positiva och negativa och presenterat deras åsikter som komplement till mina. Jag har presenterat sju diskussionsområden. Jag pekar på fördelar och nackdelar men säger inte vad som är bäst. I de flesta fall har jag svårt att se fördelarna för sig respektive nackdelarna för sig och därför känns det bättre för mig att ställa dem mot varandra.

Min tolkande kunskapssyn gör att jag inte kommer med något facit om den strategiska kartan är bra eller dålig. Jag har däremot insett att det faktiskt har hänt mycket mer än vad jag trodde när jag började arbetet. Kaplan och Norton, som i grunden har ett systemsynsätt som till stora delar är lika som det tekniska, har utvecklats mot en mer tolkande kunskapssyn, vilket syns i vissa delar av den strategiska kartan. Sammantaget känns kartan som ett hjälpmedel för en modernare verksamhetsstyrning, men den är fortfarande endast ett styrverktyg.

Summary

This work is directed to people who has an interest in the Relevance Lost debate and has knowledge of the intense debate that has been around management control. The Balanced Scorecard that was one of the results of the Relevance Lost debate has also been discussed but mostly in an uncritical way. The scorecard has had great penetrative power and seems to have come to stay, at least in the foreseeable future. The debate about management control and the Balanced Scorecard has definitely become less intense. Now there is a continuation of the Balanced Scorecard, the Strategic Map. There is not very much written about it. That is why my work is a contribution to the discussion.

My purpose is to give understanding for the possibilities and the limitations of the Strategic Map.

The valuation has its roots in my hermeneutic epistemological approach. Therefore I have given a thorough description of foremost epistemological approach and hermeneutics in the part concerning method. My work has been a study in literature and therefore there is thorough part around this as well. To achieve my main purpose the work has been done in three steps.

To create an understanding for the construction of the Strategic Map and how it’s supposed to work I have in the first step presented a rather rich description of the concept.

The purpose by the second step has been to produce the development of control between the Balanced Scorecard and the Strategic Map by looking into similarities and differences. The comparison has been built more on showing similarities and differences by the epistemological approach that characterize the two concepts than to show actual similarities and differences. I have used the description made by Jan Lindvall of the foundation of ideas separated from technique and the classification in different schools by Anthony G Puxty. I have with help by thoughts borrowed from them presented eight similarities and nine differences.

Since I have pointed out similarities and differences between the two concepts in step two, I could make a valuation of the Strategic Map in step three, even though there isn’t much written about it. I have made the valuation out of my own thoughts, but I still needed tools for creating reliability for them. I have used authors who has been both positive and negative and presented their views as a complement to mine. I have presented seven areas of discussion. I point out both advantages and disadvantages but I don’t say what is best. In most cases I cannot see advantages for themselves or disadvantages for themselves. Therefore it feels better for me to put them against each other.

My interpretive epistemological approach leads to my not presenting an answer whether the Strategic Map is good or bad, but I have realized that it actually has happened much more than I thought when I started my work. Kaplan and Norton who basically has a systems perspective, which in most parts is similar to the technique perspective, have developed to a more interpretive epistemological approach. That is shown in some parts of the Strategic Map. As a whole the Strategic Map feels like a tool for a more modern management control, but it is still just a control tool.

Utbudet av bra, täckande vägkartor som innehåller information om vägarnas lutningar är idag begränsat. Att skapa sådana kartor är också dyrt, då det kräver både arbetskraft och dyr utrustning. Tack vare en ny algoritm är det dock nu möjligt att skatta lutningen på en väg endast genom användandet av en enkel GPS-enhet och redan existerande sensorer i tunga lastbilar. Genom att kombinera flera sådana mätningar för samma väg är det möjligt att få en bra skattning av vägens lutning. I detta arbete har ett system för att skapa vägkartor med lutning både implementerats och utvärderats. Resultaten visar att det är möjligt att skapa vägprofiler med lutningsinformation genom att använda redan tillgängliga sensorer. Resultaten är baserade på både simulerad data och ett begränsat antal verkliga experiment.
There is currently a limited supply of good road maps with good coverage that includes data about the slope of the roads.Creating such maps is also expensive, and requires both labor and expensive equipment. Thanks to a new algorithm however, it is possible to estimate the slope of a road by using only a simple GPS device and already existing sensors in a heavy duty vehicle. By combining several measures along the same road, it is possible to get a good estimate of the slope of the road. In this work, a system for creating road maps with integrated slope data from such estimations is both implemented and evaluated. The results show that it is indeed possible to create road profiles with slope data using only already available sensors. The results are based on both simulated data and a limited set of data collected from real world experiments.

Abstract:

The main aim of this thesis is to design a communication and control card for an electron microscope, eventually for other equipments of the company Delong Instruments a.s., which is dealing with its development and production. This card should replace existing communication card because of its low computational performance. Also, it should replace control and measure card manned with A/D and D/A converters. Thus, the new card will be providing not only the communication with a superior PC and other electronic systems, but also the control of other subsystems of the electron microscope, the determining of processional states and the measuring of internal physical quantities. At the beginning the requirements were determined and the main concept was made with the inclusion of the simple block diagram. It was very important to choose a suitable microcontroller, which will be an intelligence of the whole card and so it will be the most important component. The accent was set mainly on the sufficient computational performance, high modularity of its periphery, good vision of the future innovation and support and, of course, the price. The next requirement was the implementation of the Ethernet, which will be used for the communication between the card and the superior PC. The microcontroller which was chosen have the core architecture ARM Cortex-M3 and it is described in separate chapter. The next part of this thesis is dealing with the main communication standard of the card, which is the Ethernet. After the general description, the Ethernet was mainly discussed in context of the chosen microcontroller. The possibilities of the application of higher layer TCP/IP protocols were also discussed. Implied part of the thesis was the selection of other important components, especially A/D and D/A converters. Its characteristics will have a big effect on the characteristics of the card. In the last and the most important phase the electrical scheme was designed and it was described in detail. This scheme is the main result of this thesis and it is the main document for the future realization. Designed card will be able to process and control 16 differential analogue input signals, 16 differential analogue output signals, 8 digital inputs, 8 simple digital outputs and 4 digital outputs triggered by optocouplers. It will be able to communicate with the superior PC over the Ethernet with the maximum bit rate of 100 Mbit/s, with other electronic cards over the serial line UART through the optical fibers and with other internal and external equipments over the RS-485 and RS-232.

The diploma thesis deals with design of the converter card for the precise control of a laser diode. At first, there are described the principles of the laser diode, photodiode and basic functions of optical fiber sensors. Following chapter deals with description of developed converter card. In the diploma thesis are discussed all function blocks of the converter card and they are explained in detail. In the thesis are subsequently tested all problem parts of the converter card for the precise control of the laser diode, such as fast switching of the current flowing through the laser diode and design of the connection for evaluating of current pulse from the sensing photodiode. An integral part of thesis is a description of created printed circuit board and there are described all used layers and devices’ layout on the PCB. Final part of the diploma thesis deals with firmware for the microcontroller, which was made for testing of all function blocks of the converter card for the precise control of a laser diode. At the same time was developed software for PC, which communicates with the converter card via universal serial bus (USB).

The thesis deals with the design of digital I/O card with USB connectivity for Honeywell spol. s r.o. – HTS CZ o.z. company. The main objective is the delay elimination between reading the current state of the inputs and outputs setting which occurs on the actual used commercial card. Further initial analysis outlines possible solutions at the beginning of the work. One of chapters describes USB communication interface, including its com- munications protocol and USB driver implementation on the operating system Microsoft Windows. This research aims to explore the performative potential of the Sinhalese Kōlam tradition beyond its ‘fixed’ repertoire, to have contemporary relevance in the present socio-political context. In recognising the ideologies of preservation that define the current Kōlam practice as traditional knowledge, which manifests in its rarity on the one hand, and its common usages in the urban economic context on the other, this exploration attempts to contextualise the performance genre from a different point of entry. The perception that Kōlam is a comprehensive performance system, informed by the ontological and epistemological sensibilities of the performance maker, that in turn manifest in its aesthetic and narrative expression, is the key driver behind the research. This premodern practice, characterised by its parallel evolution to the changing social and political framework, is performed today as a ‘fixed’ repertoire with its fundamental purpose defined as preservation. Today, the presence of Kōlam in Sri Lanka is three-fold: that is, the traditional practice that continues along its ancestral ownership to traditional knowledge; the generic cultural ownership manifested in the work of scholars, theatre practitioners, the performing arts pedagogy and the presence of Kōlam in cultural commodification. However, there remains a gap in the interpretation of Kōlam as a ‘living’ evolving performance practice striving to be relevant in the contemporary socio-political and economic context. This research looks for ways of addressing this gap and is presented in the form of dramatic text and performance titled My Sweet Rotten Heritance, and an exegetical component. The creative element comprises 60% of the thesis and the exegesis, 40%. As a way of critically evaluating the ethical responsibilities and limitations of exploring a traditional performance system, the researcher positions her performance in a para-traditional premise, both facilitating and problematising the performance process.
