Full textThe test was carried, in Marijampolė region. Test starts – 2011 10 23. Duration – 90 days. For the test was made two black-variegated cow groups: the control group and the researching group. Both groups of cows housing conditions during the investigation period was the same – during the investigation period was fed at rations, which are made with computerised feeding program „Hybrimin Futter 2008“. The food value rations matched cows nutrition physiological norms. Protected fat product „NLM 66“ is herbal origin purificated fat, which ar for increase the animals energy absorbtion and volume of milk and fat of milk. At the time of the test was monitored and recorded the following data: cows health, appetite, size, sickness rate. The data was processed using the method of statistical analysis, statistical package „R 1.7.1.“ and WinExcel program. In the investigation period researching group cows had no health problems. Before the test both groups cows had limbs problems (splited nails, painful joints etc.). For the testing group cows these problems disappeared by itself and had no digestive problems, which were in control group. The protected fat were given for cows with concentrates. At the beginning not all the cows ate concentrates with protected fats with desire. During the week, most of the cows got used to protected fat product and ate all the food with desire. When the appetite was better, rapidly began increasing testing group cows volumes of milk and these volumes... [to full text]

Full textThe study was conducted in 2012 on the farm X with 94 Lithuanian Black and White, 16 Holstein and 5 Lithuanian Red cattle during the stable period. Cattle were divided into 5 groups according to their age: Group I included calves up to 6 months age; Group II consisted of 9-29 months old heifers; Group III cows were 29-46 months old; Group IV included 46-70 months old cows; and group V cows were 70-125 months old. All the groups were studied by analyzing these factors: respiratory rate, arterial pulse rate, rumen contraction rate, measured body temperature. What is more, the reproductive and productive characteristics of cows were analyzed and conclusions provided. The results of the study and main conclusions. The analysis of the collected data showed that the effect of the age on breathing and heart rate is more apparent among adult cows in comparison to the calves. Calf respiratory rate and pulse rate is much higher than the other age group cattle. The hypothesis that age influences the reproductive functions of the cow was also proven to be correct. The most reproductive are 46-70 month old cows and heifers 9-29 month old, while the reproduction of 29-46 moth old cows is more difficult, because of the longer recovery period after calving. The worst reproduction rate is among 70-125 months old cows. It was proven, that the age also has influence on productivity and milk composition. The minimum yield and somatic cell count is obtained from young cows. Productivity and SCC... [to full text]

Full textEndometritis − the most commonly diagnosed disease in the uterus of cows and one of the main causes of cows infertility. Endometritis is defined as the uterine lining (endometrium) inflammation, including no deeper than the stratum spongiosum. Large (25.0 to 83.3 %) cow incidence of endometritis is a pressing problem in many countries and Lithuania is no exception. It was found that in the Lithuanian farms from endometritis suffers 11.0 %, and in some large-scale farms – even 33.2 – 48.6 % of cows. Almost all of the sick cows have similar symptoms, but the disease etiology is not always clear. Endometritis is divided according to the type of clinical and subclinical or otherwise also known as a secret form. Both clinical and subclinical endometritis causes significant economic losses due to reduced reproductive performance of cows and milk yield, in addition, sick cows have to be culled often. The aim of this work – according to the clinical characteristics and reproductive traits to determine the effectiveness of treatment based on cow's lactation and productivity. Studies were carried out in 2013 January – May, in the X farm which is located in Kelmė district. During the study, all cows were divided into two groups: clinically healthy cows and cows infected with endometritis (clinically healthy n = 20 and sick n = 44). Cow groups were formed on the basis of uterine secretions nature, rectal examination and results of microbiological testing. Microbiological cow uterine... [to full text]

Full textIn this work was studied small typical cowshed’s(100 units) workers work conditions in a point of view of work heaviness, microclimate and noise conditions. A heaviness of various works (feeding, milking, manure removal) was studied with theoretical calculations and with experiments. For this experiment was used a research method of human’s organism physiological changes – a measurement of heart’s pulse. A thermal environment was evaluated in autumn and winter periods. When the measurement in a cowshed was finished, was established the fact, that the most hard work are animals feeding. According to International work organization, this work can be ascribed to hard works group (pulse 125 – 150 min-1). Thermal environment in cowshed is very unfavourable to human’s organism, because in autumn period temperature is 8 - 12°C, and relative moisture in all seasons in a place of milking is 90 - 100%, and speed of weather moving in a different places was from 3 to 9°C. When a noise in a cowshed was studied, was established the fact, that a noise, which have an effect on worker, do not overdraw ground 80 dBA limit.

Full textObject and tasks of work: The aim of this work was to evaluate the various conditions the cows are housed, and how that change the quality of the milk. Tasks of work : 1. To evaluate the cow housing conditions. 2. To investigate the differences in milk quality indicators. 3. To investigate the possible influence of cow housing conditions of milk qualitative indicators. 4. To analyze the negative factors affecting the quality of milk. Results and conclusions: It was found that there is a connection (p <0.05) between: 1. indoor air temperature and the total number of bacteria in milk; 2. indoor air humidity, and the total number of bacteria in milk; 3. bearing surface temperature and the total number of bacteria in milk; 4. indoor air temperature and somatic cell count in milk; 5. bearing surface temperature and somatic cell count in milk. With increasing microclimatic parameters, increasing the total number of bacteria in milk, and somatic cell count in milk. In the investigated farms, the best microclimate indicators were where cows was loose. It was the same with the milk quality indicators. The most negative factor affecting milk quality indicators, is housing temperature in the barn, because it encourages the other negative factors, like indoor air humidity and bearing surface temperature.

Full textBovine mastitis is the most prevalent and costly disease, affecting dairy farms worldwide. Economic losses associated with mastitis derive mainly from a decrease in milk production and to a lesser extent, from the culling of chronically infected cows, cost of veterinary treatment, and penalties on milk quality. The researches was carried out in 2011 – 2014 at State Laboratory “Pieno Tyrimai”, at the Department of Animal Breeding of the Veterinary Academy of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and in dairy farm. At the first phase there was investigated „X“ dairy cows herd. And at the second phase there was investigated Lithuanian dairy cow’s herds. In both have been investigated cow’s mastitis pathogens and analyzed cow’s milk structure changes. The biggest part of the cows in tested cows herd was found to be infected with Streptococcus spp. (22.22 proc.) and in Lithuanian dairy cows herds - Streptococcus spp. (23 proc.). The most elevated somatic cells count was determined in tested dairy cows infected with Streptococcus spp. (D group) (3430 ± 305 thousands/ml.). The most decrease milk fats was determined to Staphylococcus spp. and E. coli (3.38 ± 0.08 proc.). The most decreased milk proteins to - S. aureus (3.1 ± 0.01 proc.). And most decreased milk lactose to - Streptococcus spp.4.1 ± 0.2 proc. (p<0.05). The most elevated somatic cells count was determined, in Lithuanian dairy cows herds, infected with Staphylococcus spp. and Enterococcus spp. (3198 ± 255... [to full text]

Full textThe objective of the work: Estimate the influence of the breed on cow's milk productivity, milk constitution and quality. The task of the work: Estimate the influence of breed all controlled for Lithuanian dairy cattle population cows’ productivity, milk constitution and quality according somatic cells; estimate the influence of breed research black and white cows cattle productivity, milk constitution and it quality according somatic cells. Dairying is one of priorities in the development of agriculture. Milking capacity, the constitution of milk, also its quality depend on genetic and non-genetic factors. The biggest influence over milk indicators is made with fodder and feeding ( it makes 50-60 per cent), genetic factors ( it makes 25-27 per cent), the remaining part depends on cattle keeping and supervision technologies. There are 16 cow breeds in Lithuania. Mostly red and black and white breed cows are raised in Lithuania. Lithuanian black and white cows milking capacity is bigger than of red and red and white ones, however the quantity of fat and protein is higher in red and red and white group of cows. From the control of productivity and accounting research the most productive from black and white cows is Swedish black and white cattle breed, while from red ones is Estonian red breed cows. The biggest quantity of protein and fat is noticed in the milk of Angler breed cows. The highest level of protein is found in Dutch black and white cows’ milk, white the... [to full text]

Full textIn order to diagnose a hepatic disorder a biochemical blood test was carried out. Even slight changes in hepatic function show a decrease or an increase in the concentration of hepatic enzymes. Our aim was to monitor 3 enzymes: alkaline phosphatase (ALP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and aminotransferase (AST). From the results of the blood test we deduced hepatic enzyme funcionality of local Lithuanian cow breed („ Lietuvos šėmųjų“). The experiment was carried out during indoor and pasture periods. The greatest activity of alkaline phosphatase was observed during the pasture period and during the indoor period its activity was greatly reduced. The activity of aminotransferase and lactate dehydrogenase was independent on the season.

Full textThe object of the work – a soldier that is represented in Lithuanian folk songs, sources – mainly military-historical Lithuanian folk songs. The problem is being raised – how a soldier is represented, perceived, valued in Lithuanian folk songs. The purpose of the work – to analyze and disclose the perception and the portrayal of this soldier image. Empirical and theoretical methods are used. Earlier not analyzed characteristic features of a soldier are separated, the concept of a soldier is broadened and the portrayal of an enemy (soldier) is disclosed in this work. The concept of a soldier comes into the light while discussing its` naming and general features. Soldiers are named differently in folk songs, but, first of all, not their military position, but their relationship with family members is accentuated. Main features of soldiers in folk songs – youth and bent for put on airs. The concept of a soldier is reflected in his exceptionality in the community he lives. A soldier, like a hunter, is entirely opposite to the agricultural community. The differences of young human being of a community, young soldier also, are visible in folk songs on the perspective of love, marriage. A soldier, separated from community, is portrayed as alone, lonely person. That is why his metaphorical relationship with heaven bodies is seen. Main attributes of a soldier that reveal the hard fate of serving in the army are picked out in the work. The military enemy in old folk songs is... [to full text]

Abstract: This thesis aims at presenting a description of Ikpeng's (Carib) verb morphosyntax. The language is spoken by more than 250 people who live nearby the Posto Indígena Pavuru in Xingu Indian Reservation (MT, Brazil). The work intends to describe the language's verb structure, nominalization processes, the form of reflexives and causatives, as well as subordination. It also situates Ikpeng in Order Typology as a Vinitial head-marking language whose NPs in pre-verbal position are marked pragmatically. It is shown that the pivot in erasing processes under co-referentiality is SIA, indicating the conditions under which the pronoun can be erased. Strategies employed by the language to reassume previously cited NPs in multi-orational constructions are also presented.

Full textData were collected from two dairy farms. On the farm A cows were milked using full automatised milking equipment „Milkmaster“. On the farm B cows were milked with „Interpuls“ milking equipment. The DeLaval milking system was supplied with automatic cluster remover. On dairy farms A and B cows were milked twice daily. The goal of our studies was to analyse consumption of main milking operations (cow udder preparation before milking, milking and over-milking) and their influence on milk somatic cell count. Were selected 20 cows in each farm. The duration of main milking procedures were recorded. Data on milk, fat and protein yields and somatic cell count were collected. The mean duration of pre-milking udder preparation was 42 s (farm A) and 46,03 s (farm B). Some cows were prepared only for 25,50 Afarm A) s, whereas the udder preparation comprised merely inadequate cleaning of teats. The maximum duration of over-milking was 41,10 (farm B).

Full textThe aim of this research is to determine the apparent size of the embryo and fetus in early pregnancy, depending on cow’s age and phase of lactation, using abdominal ultrasound technology. In this article various factors which affect embryonic and fetal development were described, also the relationship between age and phase of lactation was explored. Animals for research were selected according to the post insemination period. The selected cows were between 32nd and 53rd day of gestation (1 lactation n = 18, 2 lactation n = 11, 3 lactation n = 17, 4 lactation n = 13), between 1st and 4th lactation and in different lactation phases (ante 150th day of lactation n = 28, post 150th day of lactation n = 31).The evaluation of difference in development of embryo/fetus was between cows in 1-2 (jounger – I gruop) and 3-4 (older – II group) lactation. Lactation phase groups were created based on the fact that lactation in the first phase is heavier, thus leaving cow malnutritioned, while in the second phase decreases due to quick fetus growth. The examination was performed using polish ultrasonic device “iScan Dramiński”. During the examination the embryo/fetus was searched in the horns of the uterus and pictured. The pictures of the best quality were used for the measurements of the embryo/fetus surface, length and width. For the calculation, performance and statistical evaluation of obtained data Microsoft Office Excel was used. Summarizing, it was found that depending on the age of... [to full text]
