Abstract:
Pastaruoju metu kilę vietiniai ir tarptautiniai konfliktai žiniasklaidoje vis dažniau priverčia atsigręžti į pamatinę jos vertybę - žodžio laisvę. Skirtinga šios sąvokos samprata dažnai tampa nesutarimų objektu, todėl žiniasklaidos vaidmuo ją pateikiant bei formuojant labai svarbus. Taigi, darbo tikslas yra ištirti pranašo Mahometo (angl. k. Mohammad) karikatūrų atvejo vaizdavimą Lietuvos žiniasklaidoje ir nustatyti, kokios reakcijos, požiūriai atsispindi žodžio laisvės problematikoje. Iš pradžių, tikslui pasiekti gilinamasi į pačios demokratiškos žiniasklaidos sampratą, žodžio laisvę ir esminius jų pokyčius moderniųjų technologijų amžiuje. Toliau, siejant žodžio laisvę su politinių karikatūrų žanru, atskleidžiamas jų prieštaringas santykis. Tuo pačiu supažindinama su pranašo Mahometo karikatūrų atveju ir reakcijomis užsienio žiniasklaidoje. Galiausiai, pateikiama įvykio analizė Lietuvos spaudos ir internetinės žiniasklaidos priemonėse, išskiriant savitus bruožus iš kitų užsienio šalių ir nustatant dominuojančią poziciją žodžio laisvės aspektu. Pagrindinis darbo objektas – Mahometo karikatūrų atvejis Lietuvos žiniasklaidoje – yra tiriamas taikant kiekybinės ir kokybinės turinio analizės metodą. Toks pasirinkimas suteikia galimybę plačiau ir giliau pažvelgti į konkrečios žiniasklaidos priemonės indėlį formuojant tarptautinį įvykį, skatinant tarptautines diskusijas, o taip pat palyginti duomenis tarptautiniame kontekste. The latest local and international conflicts forced to look back to the democratic society’s value – freedom of speech. Different conceptions become an axis of the conflict, so the role of media is very important in constructing and presenting it. That’s why this work’s goal is to research specific international event, Mohammed’s cartoon controversy in Lithuanian media, and to define the reactions and opinions which reflect the freedom of speech problematic. At first, the research was concentrated on democratic media conception, freedom of speech and there fundamental changes in modern technology age. Further, looking for the connection between freedom of speech and political caricature genre, it is tried to reflect the controversial connection. At the same time, I try to present the Mohammed’s cartoon controversy and reactions of it in foreign media. Last, this international event is analyzed in certain Lithuanian press and internet media, trying to characterize certain attributes from other countries and determine the dominated position in freedom of speech frame. The basic work’s object is Mohammed’s cartoon controversy in Lithuanian media. The investigation is made by using quantity and quality content analyzes. This type of this method gives the ability to look deeper in certain media tools and there affect to construction of international event, trying to stimulate international discus and compare data in international context. Elles illustrent la montée du national-socialisme, du moins par le biais de la critique, puis de l'opposition et de la révolte, que ce dernier a pu susciter au cours des années 1923-1933. Ce travail a nécessité la recherche de faits politiques précis auxquels chaque caricature faisait référence et la comparaison de la représentation proposée par la caricature avec les informations et les jugements donnés rétrospectivement par les historiens. Ce jeu de va-et-vient entre le document-source et l'arrière-plan référentiel a aidé à proposer une estimation de l'écho suscité ou non par l'événement politique en question. Ce choix de caricatures a permis par exemple de voir quelles avaient été les apparitions de Hitler sur la scène politique qui avaient le plus déchaîné les passions. Abstract:
The freedom of movement is a human right concept that has always been confronted with some form of state regulation. I will focus on the international dimension of migration, especially immigration, which will be analyzed first on a general level and then on the example of Denmark. As this small European state is a typical activist in the field of human rights and a frequent participant in the humanitarian missions, one would say the Danish immigration policy can serve as an ideal example. However, this may not be true. My aim is to analyze the membership of Denmark in various international organizations dealing with immigration, EU in particular. Then, the relationship between the immigrants and Danish foreign policy with focus on Muslims will be considered. My research shows that the tendency of Denmark to restrict her immigration policy is a result of global development and has deep historical roots.

This study is made up of the analysis and commentary of some one hundred and thirty-five caricatures in an attempt to resolve the question of a possible historical reconstruction through anti-Hitler caricatures in the satirical press of the Weimar Republic. They illustrate the rise of National Socialism, at least as seen by the critics and then the opposition and revolt that the former actually gave rise to between 1923 and 1933. The work bas required research into the precise political events referred to by each caricature and the comparison between the representation proposed by the caricature and the information and the opinion provided in retrospect by historians. This coming and going between the original document and the referential background has led to an assessment of the extent of the coverage given to the political event in question. The choice of caricatures has allowed for instance to see which appearances in public by Hitler had unleashed the most passion. Nevertheless it still remains difficult to establish a history of the rise of National Socialism and of the opposition to Hitler before 1933 from these caricatures alone

Darbo tikslas – ištirti NATO įvaizdį ir jo formavimo būdus sovietinėje spaudoje. Darbo uždaviniai: tirti visuomenės poveikio priemonių Sovietų Sąjungoje raidą, nagrinėti NATO įvaizdį sovietinėje spaudoje, atskleisti būdus, kuriais buvo formuojamas NATO įvaizdis, atskleisti psichologinio poveikio priemones, taikytas spaudoje ir nagrinėti jų atsiradimo aplinkybes. Struktūriškai darbas susideda iš trijų dalių. Jose ne tik apžvelgiamas NATO įvaizdis, kuris, be abejonės, yra neigiamas, bet ir tiriamos priemonės, kuriomis šis įvaizdis buvo kuriamas. Detaliam įvaizdžio kūrimo priemonių tyrimui skirti antrasis ir trečiasis darbo skyriai. Tiriant 1949 metų sovietinę periodinę spaudą, taikant jos tyrimui lyginamosios analizės metodą bei naudojant mokslinės literatūros analizės metodus, pavyko patvirtinti darbe iškeltą hipotezę, kad NATO įvaizdis buvo formuojamas išimtinai neigiamomis priemonėmis, laikraščių skaitytojams peršant neigiamą kairio aljanso įvaizdį. Pavyko įrodyti, kad neigiamam NATO įvaizdžiui sustiprinti buvo pasitelktos visos įmanomos psichologinio poveikio priemonės. Labiausiai jos išryškėjo vizualinio poveikio priemonėse – karikatūrose ir tuomet, kai periodinėje spaudoje buvo pateikiamas karikatūros ir teksto derinys. In the diplom work "Image of NATO in the Soviet newspapers " Pravda" and "Tiesa" in 1949 year" to research the problem the image of NATO in the Soviet periodic publications. The newspapers at that time being investigated presented the official position of the country, therefore in them the appeared materials nayboleye accurately reflected the tendencies predominated in the media of that time. Work consists of three parts. In them not only to be carried out the means of NATO, which without somnekniya negative, but also to be carried out the detailed analysis of the means, with the aid of which was created this means. The second and third division are intended for bolleye of the detailed study of means the creation of the means of NATO. In the first division "Cold War and totalitarian regimes" researchs general political and sociocultural situation. By itself is very important from an historical point of view of 1949. It is rich in events had a nesomnenoye effect not only on the course of further events in the USSR, but also in entire peace. All these events one way or another found their reflection in the press. Formation by NATO was only one of the set of the events of that period, but much attention was given to it disproportionately. A doctoral thesis “Czechoslovakian modernist illustration of the 1950s and 1960s and its influences in the contemporary Czech visual culture” is focused on how a modernist illustration of the 1950s and 1960s influences Czech contemporary authors, especially illustrators. We can witness a particularly strong influence of the above mentioned modernist illustration and visual culture of that period in general among producers employing digital tools and vector graphics served. The thesis contains a historical study which follows developments of the visual language of graphic arts (illustration in particular) in the 1950s and 1960s in relation to fine arts. There is a special focus on a position of the 1960s’ modernist illustration within the applied arts of the period. Biographical study dedicated to illustrator M. Šašek introduce key figure of the (late) modernist period.

Utifrån en bakgrund i karikatyrens principer, utforskas idén om karaktärsdesign och hur ondska som en allegori kommuniceras i dess visuella attribut. I huvudsak studeras den animerade tv-serien Adventure Times antagonist - The Lich. Strukturalistiskt semiotik används för att se karaktären genom en sammanflätad kontext, innehållande av seriens narrativ, karaktärsdesign och ondska som en allegori för att se vilka tecken som används för att kommunicera allegorin. Det psykologiska konceptet Jungianska arketyper används som förklaringsmodell av ondskans allegorin och The Lich kontrasteras med andra karaktärsexempel från populärfiktion. En diskussion syntetiseras om hur allegori kommuniceras i The Lich likt metaforer. Genom att sammanföra liknelser som kan tolkas utifrån tecken kan kommunikationen överskrida till en allegorisk kommunikation, där enbart kopplingen emellan andra tecken per se kan överföra ett allegoriskt budskap.
From a background in the principles of caricatures, this paper studies about how the allegory of evil is communicated in a character design’s visual attributes. Primarily the animated cartoon series Adventure Time’s antagonist - The Lich – is studied. Structural semiotics is used to view the character from within an intertwined context, containing of the series’ narrative, character design and evil as an allegory to subsequently determine what signs are used to communicate evil. The psychological concept of Jungian archetypes are used to explain the allegory of evil and The Lich is contrasted with other character examples of popular fiction. A discussion is brought fourth how allegory is communicated like metaphors through The Lich’s character design. By putting metaphors that derived from signs together, the communication can transcend to an allegorical communication where only the connection between signs per se transmits an allegorical message.

Abstract:
I’m interested in the way we stage our identity through objects. How objects relate to identity and body. I have been looking into how the self conception and creation of identity is affected by living in an individualistic, capitalistic and mass medial time. I carry a question, how much of the self is really just a replica of a replica? In this essay I discuss how the consumption of different kinds of media gives us knowledge and experiences of the world that is secondary. I explain how I experience that social media creates a thinking where I’m looking at my self from the outside and that this thinking makes my experiences indirect. I look at the individualization of the society and how I think the individualization affects the way we create collective and individual identities. Furthermore, I discuss how object become signifiers of identity and how we, within the consumer society, consume signs rather than objects. I look at the home, as a keeper of identity and memory, I also resemble the home with an organism where the human body only become a part of a bigger body. I discuss how body and object are intertwined both mentally and physically. Jewellery art and corpus is located between art and utility objects, my field gives me the opportunity to discuss the symbolism of the objects we surround ourselves with. In this essay I give a summary of my thinking around materials, methods and sources of inspiration in my work with Replika på replika. I go through my thinking around padded textile objects, the colour pink, the use of aluminium and how I work with reflection and figurative painting. I connect my work with my thoughts on caricatures, cartoons, pop musicians ways of working with characters and to art within different fields.

Der armenisch-türkische Konflikt ist eines der zentralen Themen in der armenischen Wochenzeitung Agos. Die Karikaturisten Aret Gicir, Ohannes Saskal und Sarkis Pacaci bebildern diesen Konflikt in der Sprache der Karikaturen. Die Zeitung ist dabei auch ein Medium für das kollektive Gedächtnis der Armenier in der Türkei und in der Diaspora. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die Rolle der Karikaturen als Erinnerungsfiguren und die Rolle der Karikaturisten als Erinnerungsträger in den armenischen Medien, hier namentlich die Wochenzeitung Agos, für den kollektiven Konstruktionsprozess. Ohne Medien sind keine Erinnerungen möglich und Karikaturen sind ein Medium der Erinnerung. Die Karikaturisten Aret Gicir, Ohannes Saskal und Sarkis Pacaci verwenden unterschiedliche Techniken und Bildersprachen. Ihre Karikaturen gleichen Graffitis, Piktogrammen oder erotischen Darstellungen, sie sind Botschaften und Symbole einer kulturellen Hinterlassenschaft, so wird beispielsweise der tabuisierte Diskurs der Sexualität mit dem tabuisierten Diskurs des armenischen Genozids in der Türkei verbunden, ein Tabu wird durch ein anderes Tabu ersetzt. Die vorliegende Arbeit zeigt, dass die Karikaturisten die Funktion von modernen armenischen Aschugs, den Minnesängern der Gemeinschaft, übernehmen. Anstatt die Erinnerungen wie früher persönlich von Dorf zu Dorf tragen, oder wie im europäischen Mittelalter von Burg zu Burg, übernimmt diese Reise der Erinnerung die Zeitung Agos, um den Rezipienten mit Botschaften aus der Heimat zu versorgen. Durch die Zeitung wird der Rezipient an die (armenische) Vergangenheit erinnert. An diese Erinnerung wird versucht, die kollektive Gedächtnis der Armenier als Ersatz für das fehlende kommunikative Gedächtnis zu etablieren.
The Armenian-Turkish conflict is among the key subjects treated in the Armenian weekly Agos. The caricaturists Aret Gicir, Ohannes Saskal, and Sarkis Pacaci illustrate this conflict in the language of caricatures. The newspaper is thus also a medium for the collective memory of Armenians in Turkey and in the diaspora. This dissertation examines the role of caricatures as memory figures and the role of the caricaturists as carriers of memory in the Armenian media, here specifically the Agos weekly, for the collective process of construction. Memories are not possible without media, and caricatures are a medium of memory. The caricaturists Aret Gicir, Ohannes Saskal, and Sarkis Pacaci use different techniques and imagery. Similar to graffiti, pictograms, or erotic depictions, their caricatures are messages and symbols of a cultural legacy. The tabooed discourse on sexuality, for example, is related to the tabooed discourse of the Armenian genocide in Turkey; one taboo replaces another. This thesis shows that the caricaturists assume the function of modern Armenian ashughs, the bards of the community. Instead of the earlier practice of transmitting the memories personally from village to village, or from castle to castle, as was done in medieval Europe, this journey of remembrance is carried out by the Agos newspaper in order to provide recipients with messages from home. The newspaper serves to remind recipients of the (Armenian) past. Through this memory, an attempt is made to establish the collective memory of the Armenians as a substitute for the lacking communicative memory.
