Abstract In this research, a combined method was developed to determine the erodibility of bends in the Karkheh River. For this purpose, a 40 km reach of the Karkheh River downstream of the Karkheh Dam was considered. The value of the shear stress was the calculated using the CCHE2D model. The results from the model show that in 1996 (before construction of the Karkheh dam), the length of the erodible reach was 1314 m; in 2011 (after construction of the Karkheh dam), this length was reduced to 840 m. Furthermore, the model illustrates that the location of the maximum shear stress is a function

Abstract The construction of the Karkheh Dam is an important factor contributing to the occurrence of dust storms in the Khuzestan Province of Iran. It has reduced the annual mean flow discharge in the Karkheh River from 120 to 50 m3/s and dried land around the river. The area of dried land is 90.17 km2 around the river and 333.45 km2 in the Hawr-al-Azim wetland. Abstract:
In this research, the catchment area of the Karkheh River has been investigated in order to investigate the relationship between the sediment and the effect of climate change on the phenomenon of microstrip. In the first step, to determine the relationship between the grains and sediments, it is necessary to determine the origin of sedimentation and its gradation. Accordingly, some sediment samples were taken from the river bed. Sediment aggregate size measurement is an important tool for studying its origin. Currently, for statistical purposes, many samples are used, but these methods are tim

Abstract. This study aims at identifying historical patterns of meteorological, hydrological, and agricultural (inclusively biophysical) droughts in the Karkheh River Basin (KRB), one of the nine benchmark watersheds of the CGIAR Challenge Program on Water and Food. Standardized precipitation index (SPI), standardized runoff index (SRI), and soil moisture deficit index (SMDI) were used to represent the above three types of droughts, respectively. The three drought indices were compared across temporal and spatial dimensions. Variables required for calculating the indices were obtained from the
