Abstract:
Based on the synthesis of materials from numerous studies of natural conditions, represented by relief, geological structures, modern geomorphological processes, and individual climate elements, the monograph reveals patterns of their distribution and dynamics. The specificity of the abiotic elements of the Lagonak highlands, which distinguish them from other mountainous regions of the Western Caucasus, is shown. The features of nival, nival-glacial and karst processes affecting the development of mountain landscapes are considered. Attention is focused on the unique features of the natural la

Abstract:
The flint mine in Bębło is situated in the Ojców Upland within the Olkusz Upland, above the Kluczwoda, Bolechówka and Bębłówka river valleys. Its vast mining field lies on a slope of a crest facing south-east, rising above a small valley, now dry but once crossed by a watercourse, to a height of approx. 30 metres. In the late 5th millennium BC, irregular flint concretions were extracted there through small shallow pits located one next to the other and reaching the bottom of karst karren. Abstract:
Cellulose is the most abundant organic polymer on Earth and a fascinating compound for a vast variety of applications. It is mostly received from wood, thus it is a renewable resource and a CO2 storing material. One of the most important cellulose products are pulp and paper. The major goal of this work was to obtain a material with a high amount of cellulose through a pulping process of wood. Therefore, it is necessary to separate the wood bers and to remove a component of wood, which is called lignin (deligni cation). The conventional way to delignify wood is the Kraft process that causes se

The sophists, so to speak, spearheaded enlightenment in Ancient Greece. By turning to subjectivism, they dethroned traditional, mostly religiously based morality; through their teaching, which included not least rhetoric and other techniques of self-assertion, they changed the political climate. This volume deals with the fascinating phenomenon of sophism by reconstructing the political thinking of sophists from the few existing fragments of Plato’s writings and his dialogues. This shows the range of their positions: The sophists advocated the idea of ‘social contracts’ as well as the right of
