LABURPENA xx. mendeko azken aldian, euskarak gainbehera sakon batean sartu zen Nafarroako ipar-ekialdean eta inon baino nabariagoa izan zen Erronkariko Ibaxan. 1980-1990 hamarkadetan erronkariko uskararen azken hiztunak hiltzen ziren bitartean, bi komunitate hauen arteko harremana gainbeheran sartu zen. Landa-lan honetan, mugaren bi aldeetako biztanleei egindako elkarrizketei esker, egungo egoera zein den aztertuko da. Komunitate hauek gordetako ondare materiala eta ez-materiala aintzat hartuko dira. Honekin batera, etorkizunerako erronkak aztertu egingo ditugu herri hauek betidanik izan duten lotura galdu ez dadin eta mugaz gaindiko harremanak sustatzeko proiektu desberdinak planteatuz. ABSTRACT At the end of the 20th century, «uskara» experienced a serious decline which ended with the disappearance of the last Basque speakers in the 1980-90’s. While these people, the last true speakers of the vernacular language, died, relations with the other side of the border began to weaken. In this paper through a qualitative methodology based on interviews done with people from both sides of the border, we analyze what the current state of the mentioned relations is like. In addition, opportunities and challenges faced by these communities will be analyzed to assess their posible future relations. The material and intangible cultural heritage maintained by these persons will be taken into account.

Abstract:
AbstractIn this paper I present the types of nominalization in Kakua, a language spoken by a group of hunter-gatherer peoples from the small Kakua-Nukakan family, inhabitants of the Vaupés area in eastern Colombia. I argue that the nominalization strategies in Kakua have developed from a traceable typical Kakua-Nukakan strategy, into a more Vaupés-like profile of expressing nominalizations, where Kakua had added more nominalization strategies in order for the language to adapt to the types of nominalizations found in many of Kakua’s neighboring languages in the Vaupés area. For this, I will first give a description of the nominalization strategies in Kakua, to later compare them to the nominalization strategies in Nukak, Kakua’s sister language spoken outside of the Vaupés area. The paper concludes with a comparison of nominalization in Kakua and the nominalization strategies found in the surrounding languages.

ABSTRACT This paper deals with the relational marker -ko, which derives adjectival modifiers from a wide range of phrases: adverbs, local-case- or instrumental-marked nouns, postpo-sitions and determinerless nPs. More specifically, the goal is to describe the constitu-ent order variation from a diachronic perspective. There are two options: the modifier might be prenominal (default in the modern language) or postnominal. My proposal is that postnominal -ko modifiers appeared because some -ko phrases lexicalized as adjec-tives and started to be placed after the noun, in the position where canonical qualitative adjectives go in Basque.

Abstract:
Language in everyday life has a very important role in communicating. At present there has been a decline in interest in the use of Javanese as a communication tool for the Z generation, namely the generation born in 1994-2012. The aim of this study is to find out the intensity of the use of regional languages, especially the Javanese language by the Z generation, what is the impact of the loss of regional languages, especially the Javanese language for the identity of the region and how the generation of Z language attitudes to local languages are specifically Javanese . From this study it was found that, Z generation has the ability that is very lacking in communicating using Javanese. The things that affect their mastery in language include their buccal background originating from the Javanese, the lack of use of the Javanese language as a daily communication tool and the lack of innovation in Javanese language learning methods. From this, innovation in learning is needed as well as increasing the intensity of the use of Javanese as a daily communication tool. Parents and teachers in the school have a role in mastering the Javanese language in communicating.

Abstract:
The success of obtaining a second language and subsequent languages is influenced by many factors, both those involving from within individuals and those from the environment. Thus, research should not only focus on assessing the success of an individual in obtaining language but must also relate how the individual's language learning background is related to the achievement of language acquisition. This article will focus on the discussion of written language production with the subject of jasmine, which is a native speaker of Mandarin. By reviewing the background of the subject's bilingualism, it is expected to be able to provide an overview and answer the question "how is the achievement of someone who learns a foreign language if he learns a second language after passing a critical period, then takes education to obtain language (nurture), and a coordinate billingualism, if measured after study the language for five years and four months? "the results of the research show that Melati has the following language skills (1) in terms of readability, able to write with the appropriate complexity for college level students (2) able to build relationships between words, sentences, and paragraphs but at the word level there are still some problems (3) which tend to produce difficult sentences to understand when writing more complex sentences.

Abstract:
This research discusses language maintenance and language shift among children from intermarriage family. It could be found in a society that many children who grow up from intermarriage family have bilingual and multilingual. But in some cases, this condition also become the factors that cause them losing their cultural identity due to their parents do not introduce and teach them their mother tongue language. This condition will be affected the existence of those local languages because it could make them appear or even the worst thing that it could make them become death. Those effects have been found in many local languages in Indonesia in which many local languages have extinct and some of them are going to be extinct. The aims of this research are to describe the phenomenon that appears within the students of English Language and Literature Adab and Humanities Faculty UIN STS Jambi who have intermarriages family’s background. Besides that, it also aims to find out the role of parents to decide the language choice used by their children. Since this research lay down from the previous researchers that find out parents are the important role in deciding language choice for their children. Observation and questionnaire are the techniques used in collecting the data. The results show that parents have a role that causes the shift and the maintenance of local languages. In addition, the factors such as bilingual, language’s choosing and using at home and migration are the causes of language shift found in English Language and Literature students. But the researcher found that code switching and code mixing are only used by the students for a specific situation where they should elaborate their language with their listeners.

Abstract:
The term "contrastive analysis" (CA) can be defined as how to compare two or more languages in synchronic not diachronic analysis including phonetic elements, morphemic, syntactic, and discourse for the sake of teaching and translation discourse. CA purpose is to look for similarities and differences between two or more languages as the object of study. Benefit from the findings of CA can be used as one of the basic considerations in developing language teaching syllabus and in selecting appropriate translation pattern. This practical method of analysis of language has experienced the ups and downs from time to time which in turn gave birth to two powerful streams (strong version) and weak (weak version). Nevertheless, CA is still needed in the world of foreign language teaching does not turn a blind eye to the weaknesses and strengths. Basically there is no single approach that perfect language, so the use of comprehensive methods are a good choice can therefore complement each other. Implications of CA will give influence to teachers, subject matter, and syllabus. Through this analysis, a language teacher can display methods, materials and cargo with special and specific ways. While, the subject matter may be submitted with varying intensity through the CA of the findings of aspects of equality and difference. Syllabus based CA can determine the design of the learning and acquisition targets with existing time allocation.

Abstract:
Language maintenance and re-creation are burning issues for many indigenous communities around the world. Child language acquisition and socialization are processes integral to understanding these issues. In order to design realistic language recreation projects, research must first address the many factors impacting the acquisition and maintenance of a language by children. This dissertation shows how different contexts, historical, environmental, interactional, relate to Kaska language socialization and acquisition. Kaska is a Northern Athabaskan language spoken in the Yukon Territory (Canada). In particular, it shows how the shift from Kaska being a language of everyday communication to one associated with authority and respect constrains children's Kaska production. To examine this shift, a combination of linguistic and ethnographic methods are used. Linguistic description identifies the grammatical structures of the target language. These are the structures that children need to acquire in order to be able to understand and speak the Kaska language. Additionally, grammatical description of adult utterances reveals that children are being exposed to a full Kaska grammar. This suggests that children may understand more Kaska than they produce. Ethnographic methods identify the social constraints on speaking the Kaska language and help establish links between interaction patterns and ideological constructs. They reveal that language choice is related to a speaker's age and social position. Older interlocutors may choose to speak Kaska while younger interlocutors typically choose English. Children have incorporated this pattern into their playgroups. By producing a Kaska utterance, a child may become leader of the playgroup. He or she uses Kaska to attain this social position. Speaking Kaska is also related to the concept of respect. Narratives on socialization emphasize this by instructing children on how to behave respectfully. While children are exposed to an adult Kaska grammar, they predominantly speak English. This pattern is not just the result of past assimilationist practices; it is part of Kaska language socialization.

Abstract:
Det vacklande bruket omfattar bl.a. maskulina nominativändelsen -er (eeldher, swarter), bestämda feminina ackusativändelsen -a (siälinä) och adjektivens ackusativändelse -an (diupan).

Abstract:
Därtill analyseras skrivarens kasusbruk i texten.

Abstract:
Faroese is known to lie grammatically between Icelandic and the Mainland Scandinavian languages and dialects. One example of this is that, on the one hand, Faroese is like Icelandic in having a basically intact morphological four case system. On the other hand case-marking in Faroese is linked to clause function to a greater degree than in Icelandic – but to a lesser degree than in the Mainland Scandinavian standard languages. In Scandinavian Linguistics, it has long been an axiom that in the longer term the aforementioned four case system will be reduced in all varieties of the Scandinavian languages. The present thesis investigates if, and if so how, this expected development manifests itself in Senior High School graduation essays in Faroese from the period 1940–1999. A quantitative study forms the core of the thesis. The choice between the dative and other cases is related to eight syntactic variables whose effect on the choice of case is compared using methods from the variationist framework, among others. The results are partly surprising: the dative did not reduce in frequency from the 1940s to 1990s. There certainly is a tendency, however not a statistically significant one, that the dative is more often replaced by another case in contexts where the norm is to use the dative. On the other hand it also seems to become more common for the dative to be used hypercorrectly. Furthermore, the development is not linear, in that around the middle of the investigation period, the dative is used far more according to norms than otherwise. As expected, clause function is an important variable, but by the end of the period under investigation the placement of the nominal phrase within the clause becomes a surprisingly strong factor. It also becomes more important if the phrase takes the form of a first/second-person pronominal or not. The results are theoretically interpreted in the light of, firstly, Generative Grammar, and secondly Construction Grammar. The modification of certain terms is discussed, such as lexical case in Generative Grammar or usage-based model in Construction Grammar. The conclusion is that the linguistic descriptive models of these theories can only partly cover the tendencies to change that are observed. Other parts of the results are best explained using aspects of sociolinguistics. The conclusion is that case studies on a micro-level are valuable in order to evaluate and develop theories of linguistic variation and change at a macro-level.

Abstract:
Gabonese literary works in general and the novel in particular raise amazement because of their being scarce. The goal of our dissertation has been to improve some aesthetical approaches of the Gabonese novel. It has consisted in turning down the common description of the Gabonese novel as being behind. The aesthetics of the Gabonese novel reveals an identity of isolation. The systems of its setting up result mainly from this aspect. Revealing how the novel has been built up in the Gabonese literature through the writings of Peter Ndemby and Chantal Magalie Mbazoo Kassa means, on the one hand, developing issues of influences in the Gabonese prose and shaping the relationship between text and society. This process helps to uncover a better definition of literariness in Gabon according to the works of Fortunat Obiang Essono. On the other hand, in dealing with the modalities of the Gabonese novel, we have had to develop its literary peculiarity through its mimetic and autistic literariness, and its ‘exiguousness’. From the literary story of Lanson through the sociocriticism of Claude Duchet and Pierre Zima, the Gabonese novel has unveiled peculiarities requiring new approaches, a new conception of literariness in the Gabonese novel

Abstract:
This chapter studies the writing of Sasson Somekh, Anton Shammas and Sayed Kashua through the lens of their personal biographies, their background and their language choice. All three are native speakers of Arabic, albeit, from three different generations and three different faiths, but they all choose to write in Hebrew. The language choices of these authors help us understand the asymmetrical relationship between Israelis and Arabs, as well as the global linguistic homogenisation and perhaps the effects of collective traumas on the individual. The chapter concludes with a section on the ‘Arab Jew’, and the challenges of maintaining both constructs of this identity in Israel, in the case of the documentary of the ‘Ethnic Devil’ broadcast on Israeli television in summer 2013, and the case of the sociologist and poet, Sami Chetrit, an Arab Jew who does not speak Arabic.

Abstract:
This chapter expands upon the notion of proliferating borders as sites of the failure of coexistence. It centres on two novels by Sayed Kashua, a prominent Palestinian journalist and writer who publishes primarily in Hebrew. Building on meditations on the relationship between language, silence, and estrangement by Julia Kristeva and Jacques Derrida, I trace Kashua’s journey into disillusion and despair, expressed through the silence and alienation imposed by a set of increasingly constricting borders. The novels Second Person Singular (2010)and Let It Be Morning (2004) reveal the failure of coexistence through the persistent re-emergence of the very borders that coexistence seeks to break down or render irrelevant, and the hollowness of strategies of linguistic and cultural assimilation. In Kashua’s novels, these attempts constantly fail at the border, a space that produces myriad forms of alienation and eventually exile. The analysis focuses on the locales of a suddenly blockaded Palestinian village and the divided city of Jerusalem as the twin sites of this paradigm’s failure. Kashua’s engagement with borders reveals what he eventually calls the “lie” of coexistence.
