Abstract:
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the method of interpreting the verses of jihad carried out by Ibn Kathir in his book-Al-Qur’an Al-‘Adzim ’. The method used is to use a library study approach (libary research), by collecting qualitative data. two sources; primary and secondary. The primary source of the researcher is Al-'Azhim's Qur'anic Interpretation by Ibn Kathir, while secondary sources are obtained from books, journals, magazines and other sources whose uses are to enrich the material and as a comparison of primary sources . The data collection technique is to use documentation that is collecting various library books that have relevance to the title of this research, then analyzed by correlative analysis methods and descriptive relevance. The findings of this study are verses of jihad which are interpreted by Ibn Kathir tend to interpret jihad in the Qur'an as a war against the enemy to defend Islam. Conclusions about the importance of jihad and its privileges in Islam with concepts that are in accordance with Islamic sharia and in line with those outlined by the Qur'an and also explained by the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad even though they do not cover in depth the language rules or derivatives of the word jihad in the Qur'an and does not discuss the issue of jihad in the realm of jurisprudence. Abstract:
The Three Local Languages of Estonia in Edzard Schaper’s novel The Executioner and in its Estonian Translation. This article analyses the reflection of everyday multilingualism in Edzard Schaper’s novel Der Henker (The Executioner, 1940) and its translation into Estonian by Katrin Kaugver (Timukas, 2002). The novel deals with the 1905 revolution in the current Estonian territory, which was at that time a province of the Russian Empire. The novel was written shortly before the outbreak of World War II and translated into Estonian 60 years later after the end of the Soviet era. The complexity and the fluctuation of the contextual elements between the storyline of the novel, the time of its writing and the time of the translation make the novel a rewarding object of research into settings of multilingualism in everyday life. The article focuses on the manifest and latent forms of multilingualism, on the functions of the local languages, as well as on the question whether it helps to analyse language use in real life situations. It also looks at how local multilingualism, dominated by three local languages – German, Russian and Estonian – has been translated from one local language (German) into another local language (Estonian). The examples chosen in the article highlight some regularities in the use of the local and other languages, and offer a cultural-historical and socio-political interpretation of the use of multilingualism.

Abstract:
Epistemology is basically a branch of philosophy that studies the roots of thought and basic concepts of submission. The concept has a paradigm that gives birth to an idea in the process of thinking. This shows that there is an epistemology used by classical commentators, Ibn Katsir in understanding and explaining verses of the Qur'an in a lengthy and broad manner. Because of this interpretation if examined and critically examined again will be found in a comprehensive direction of thought in interpreting the Qur'an. Therefore, this paper is here to express and map significantly the epistemology of Ibn Katsir thought in the interpretation process. Thus it can be concluded, the source of knowledge in the interpretation contains two broad classifications, namely: First. Tafsir Bil Ma’tsur. Secondly, Tafsir Al-Ra'yi. The interpretation of bil matsur is divided into four interpretations, namely, the interpretation of the Qur’an with the Qur’ran, the interpretation of the Qur’an with the Hadith, the interpretation of the Qur’an with friends, and the interpretation of the Qur’an with the opinion the tabi'in. while the interpretation of Al-Ra'yi as rational is supported by the science of the rules of language to reveal the meaning of sitematic ceremony. In short, the author will make a clear contribution on how the epistemology of the Qur'anic interpretation is carried out by Ibn Katsir.

Abstract:
The students in the eighth grade of MTs Imam Ibnu Katsir Pekanbaru had some phenomena in reading. First, the students got difficult in understanding the social function. The second, the students got difficult in understanding the grammar in narrative text. Concerning the syllabus of MTs Imam Ibnu Katsir Pekanbaru, the students’ comprehension of social function, generic structure, and language features in narrative writing. This research aims to identify the effect of pattern guide strategy on the students' reading comprehension in narrative text. This research was conducted at the eighth-grade students of MTs Imam Ibnu Katsir Pekanbaru in January 2018. The research design used quasi-experimental research. The samples of this research were the students of class VIIIa consisting of 25 students and class VIIIb composed of 22 students. The data were collected by pre-test and post-test. Then, it was analyzed statistically by using SPSS verse 16.0. Then, the data were calculated by using N-Gain between pre-test and post-test in the experimental class. After conducting this research, the result of this research was that the post-test score of the experimental class was getting higher than the pre-test score. It can be seen from the average post-test score of the experimental class was 71.40, which improved from the pre-test score 56.80. The average post-test on the control class was 66.36 was lower than the experimental class. In conclusion, it can be stated that the students who are taught using pattern guide strategy achieve better than those who are not taught using pattern guide strategy.
