Abstract:

Tyrimo tikslas: įvertinti 8 savaičių kineziterapijos namų programos efektyvumą leukemija sergančių vaikų fizinei būklei. Tyrimo metodai: iš viso tyrime dalyvavo 16 leukemija sergančių vaikų, tiriamųjų amžiaus vidurkis - 10,81±3,83 metai. Tyrimas buvo atliekamas Vilniaus universiteto Vaikų ligoninės onkohematologijos skyriuje nuo 2014 m. lapkričio iki 2015 m. balandžio mėnesio. Tyrimui atlikti buvo panaudota centimetrinė juostelė, kuria išmatuotos kūno apimtys (šlaunų, liemens, dubens) bei krūtinės ląstos ekskursija. Tiriamųjų pėdos dorzalinės fleksijos ir šlaunies vidinės bei išorinės rotacijų amplitudės matuotos goniometru. Pėdos dorzalinę fleksiją ir blauzdos tiesimą atliekančių raumenų jėga vertinta pagal R. Lovett testą. Taip pat tiriamieji atliko 3 metrų „Stotis ir Eiti“ bei modifikuotą funkcinį judėjimo testus. Duomenų analizė atlikta naudojant statistinės analizės Excel 2007 bei „R-3.2.0 for Windows“ programas. Rezultatai: kineziterapijos namų programos taikymas 8 savaites leukemija sergantiems vaikams yra efektyvi priemonė, siekiant koreguoti kūno antropometrinius duomenis, didinti sumažėjusias judesių amplitudes ir raumenų jėgą bei gerinti „Stotis ir Eiti“ testo ir modifikuoto Keitel indekso rezultatus. Išvados. Po 8 savaičių kineziterapijos namų programos taikymo leukemija sergantiems vaikams statistiškai reikšmingai padidėjo krūtinės ląstos ekskursija, sumažėjo šlaunų, liemens ir dubens apimtys, padidėjo vertintų sąnarių judesių amplitudės, raumenų jėga, pagerėjo “Stotis ir Eiti” testo bei modifikuoto Keitel indekso rezultatai. Gauti rezultatai leidžia daryti prielaidą apie pagerėjusią tiriamųjų pusiausvyrą bei funkcinę būklę.

Abstract:

Background and Purpose The purpose of this study was to translate the German Keitel Functional Test (KFT) into Danish and test it for reliability, concurrent and predictive validity, and responsiveness in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods Translation of the KFT was performed according to international recommendations, and the translated version was tested twice by 2 observers for intraobserver and interobserver reliability, with a 1-week interval between assessments, in 20 patients with RA with stable disease activity. Validity was investigated by studying 2 patient groups: (1) 15 patients with long-lasting (median=6 years) active RA, tested before and after 2, 6, and 14 weeks of anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) inhibitor therapy, and (2) 35 patients with early (median=0.25 year) RA, tested at years 0, 0.5, 1, and 2. Twenty-three patients in the early RA group also were tested at year 7. KFT, conventional clinical and biochemical markers of disease activity, and Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) were used. Results The translated KFT showed good intraobserver reliability (intraclass correlation coefficients [ICC]=.90 and .95, coefficient of variation [CV]=3.5%) and interobserver reliability (ICC=.99 and .92, CV=3.5%), and the KFT correlated with several measures of disease activity and, most closely, with the HAQ. The KFT was, in contrast to clinical disease activity measures, not sensitive to changes over time. Only baseline KFT data were significantly related to functional changes over a long period of time as measured by the KFT, and only in the early RA group. Discussion and Conclusion The Danish translation of the KFT showed good reliability, acceptable concurrent validity, very poor responsiveness, and inconclusive results concerning predictive validity. The results of this study do not support the use of the KFT for monitoring function in clinical practice, as an outcome measure in clinical trials, or as a predictor of functional changes.

Abstract:

Zeng and Keitel proposed an arbitrated quantum signature scheme in 2002. Recently, Curty and Lütkenhaus pointed out that the protocol is not operationally specified. In a reply, Zeng gave more details of the scheme. The author also claimed that the scheme is suitable for unknown messages. In this letter, we remark that the invented scenario in the original scheme is artificial. This is because its security entirely depends on the presence of a trustworthy arbitrator. Moreover, the claim that the original scheme is suitable for unknown messages is not sound.

Abstract:

Niels Bohr, around 1930, when he tried to describe some processes in quantum physics, created the term ‘complementarity’. Bohr believed in the general epistemological and metaphysical significance of this principle. Since then several authors have used this term to capture the essential aspects of the cognitive and epistemological development of scientific and mathematical concepts (Otte and Steinbring, 1977; Kuyk, 1977; Otte, Keitel and Seeger, 1980; Otte, 1984, 1990, 1994; Douady, 1991; Sfard, 1991; Jahnke, 1992). However, what is complementarity? It is an idea or a concept! Being an idea, complementarity finds different expressions within different contexts. Mathematicians do not know what to do with ideas and they want definitions instead. In this article, we discuss different aspects of complementarity trying to clear the matter.Keywords: Mathematics Education. Philosophy of Mathematics. Bohr acreditava na significância metafísica e epistemológica desse princípio. Desde então diversos autores têm utilizado esse termo para capturar os aspectos essenciais do desenvolvimento epistemológico e cognitivo de conceitos matemáticos e científicos (Otte and Steinbring, 1977; Kuyk, 1977; Otte, Keitel and Seeger, 1980; Otte, 1984, 1990, 1994; Douady, 1991; Sfard, 1991; Jahnke, 1992). Todavia, o que é a complementaridade? É uma ideia ou um conceito! Sendo uma ideia, a complementaridade revela diferentes expressões em diferentes contextos. Le jeu de Harvey Keitel et de Rod Steiger réinventent les modèles de masculinité traditionnelle et les rôles de tough guys dans le cinéma américain. Ils permettent la déconstruction des notions-types du genre par l’ouverture de leur interprétation aux émotions, l’harmonie psycho-physique et la concentration sur les intentions et les circonstances. Keitel, acteur-icône du cinéma indépendant et découvreur de talents, se démarque dans un jeu marqué par l’intensité et l’exploration des aspects les plus sombres de l’humanité. Steiger excelle par la figuration de la solitude, de l’ambiguïté et de l’ambivalence, et figure des personnages tels que Napoléon, Mussolini ou Al Capone. Tous deux passés par l’interprétation américaine de la Méthode de Stanislavski, Keitel et Steiger s’affirment comme des acteurs-personnages, davantage que comme des stars. En effet, peu soucieux de leur image d’acteur, ils s’immergent dans la création de leurs personnages et figurent la relation complexe entre Moi social et Moi créateur. Harvey Keitel and Rod Steiger’s performances reinvent the models of traditional masculinity and shed a new light on tough-guy roles in American film. Their emotional performances, their psycho-physical approach and their focus on objectives and circumstances open up new perspectives on gender and genre and lead to a deconstruction of the standard notions of genre. Keitel has become an iconic actor of independent cinema, by helping new directors and actors; and stands out with intense performances, which explore the darkest sides of humanity. Steiger excels in showing solitude, ambiguity and ambivalence, and acts various parts, such as Napoleon, Mussolini or Al Capone. Both actors study the American interpretation of Stanislavsky’s Method, and choose to become character-actors, rather than stars. Indeed, their inner acting primarily relies on the creation of a character, keeping in mind the complex relationship between Moi social and Moi créateur, and leaving aside their concern for their own image as actors. Through the detailed analysis of their performances in different genre movies, it comes to light that comedy, romance and drama allow the actors to free their performance from masculine stereotypes and to express their imagination as auteurs

Abstract:

High-temperature, high-pressure exposure furnaces (commonly referred to as Keiser Rigs) have been used successfully to evaluate the ability of environmental barrier coatings (EBCs) on continuous fiber-reinforced ceramic matrix composites and monolithic Si3N4 to protect the underlying substrate at high temperatures and H2O pressures. The ORNL rig provides for a relatively inexpensive way to conduct high sample throughput, first-stage evaluation of an EBCs protective capability on small ceramic specimens under a range of temperatures, pressures, and H2O contents. The exposure of the EBCs in the Keiser Rig is coupled with extensive microstructural analysis to evaluate EBC failure and degradation mechanisms.

Abstract:

Barium Strontium Aluminosilicate (BSAS)-based environmental barrier coatings (EBCs) have been used successfully to protect the surface of Si-based fiber-reinforced ceramic-matrix composite (CMC) combustor liners in Solar Turbines Centaur 50S gas turbine engines. Two such EBC/CMC combustor liner sets were engine-exposed for times > 14,000h. However, extensive microstructural characterization of the EBC/CMC liners after the long-term engine exposures showed a significant loss/recession of the BSAS-based EBC. The mechanisms by which BSAS recession occurs and the rate at which the BSAS recesses as a function of pressure, gas velocity, temperature, etc. are not fully understood but such information will be necessary for improving the life to >15,000h in order for the materials to be acceptable for use in an engine application. To this end, the thermochemical stabilities of candidate EBCs are being evaluated analytically and experimentally at very high H2O pressures in a high-temperature, high-pressure furnace (Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s “Keiser Rig”). Calculations based on generalized volatility reactions and mass flux of volatilized species have shown that high H2O pressures can be used to compensate for the low gas-flow velocities in the Keiser Rig. An examination of the phase stability/volatilization of state-of-the-art EBC compositions (Ba- and Sr-based aluminosilicates) has been conducted through equilibrium thermodynamic calculations and initial experiments to validate assumptions via Keiser Rig exposures of the same EBC formulations conducted at 1250°C and 20 atm H2O.

Abstract:

The microstructural and mechanical stabilities of a Nextel 720 (alumina+mullite) fiber-reinforced, alumina matrix composite were evaluated following exposure of the material to a high H2O pressure (to simulate a gas turbine combustor environment) in Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s (ORNL’s) high temperature, high pressure facility (Keiser Rigs). Coupons were exposed at 1135°C and 1200°C in a high-pressure (10 atm) furnace containing 10% water vapor for 1000, 2000, and 3000 h. Extensive microstructural characterization was conducted after each exposure to evaluate fiber and matrix stabilities as a function of exposure time and temperature. Retained tensile strengths were also measured and compared to baseline properties following each exposure. It was found that there was no significant change in the composite microstructure or tensile strength after long-term exposure in the Keiser Rig at 1135°C, whereas significant Nextel 720 fiber degradation (grain growth and increased surface roughness) occurred during exposure for 3000 h at 1200°C. Statistical variations in the mean strength values between the as-processed and exposed composites indicated little change in strength, however. The composite degradation was primarily thermal and the addition of H2O had little effect on changing or accelerating these effects.

Bisherige Verfahren zur Ermittlung der Risikoneigung (risikoavers, risikoneutral oder risikoliebend) weisen einige Schwächen auf. Sie sind zum Teil so komplex und anspruchsvoll, dass man von den Probanden häufig spontane, unüberlegte Antworten erhält. Dadurch kann die tatsächliche Risikoneigung häufig nicht zutreffend ermittelt werden. Darüber hinaus gibt es bei diesen Verfahren Konstellationen, in denen keine eindeutige Zuordnung zu den drei Kategorien der Risikoneigung möglich ist. Außerdem wird bei den bisherigen Ansätzen die Verlustaversion als wichtiger Einfluss auf die Risikoneigung nicht oder nicht ausreichend berücksichtigt. Wir schlagen ein neues Verfahren zur Ermittlung der Risikoneigung vor, das (1) extrem einfach und überschaubar ist, das (2) eine eindeutige Unterscheidung von risikoaversen, risikoneutralen und risikoliebenden Wirtschaftssubjekten erlaubt und das (3) den Einfluss der Verlust-aversion auf die Risikoneigung angemessen berücksichtigt.

Herausforderungen, wie sie mit den Sustainable Development Goals beschrieben werden, erfordern häufig Systeminnovationen, die eine partizipative und transdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit verschiedener Akteure aus Wirtschaft, Politik und Zivilgesellschaft beinhalten. Eine Schwierigkeit stellt in einem solchen Innovationsprozess das Fehlen einer prozessdefinierenden Zielsetzung dar. Meist handelt es sich hierbei um „(super) wicked problems“, zu denen es auf Grund von komplexen Strukturen und Zielkonflikten bislang keine expliziten Umsetzungskonzepte gibt. Daher muss am Anfang dieses gemeinsamen Prozesses allen Beteiligten unklar sein, welche Gestalt die angestrebte Lösung zur Erreichung des jeweiligen SDG hat. Diese Spannung des Ungewissen auszuhalten und als Ressource zu nutzen, stellt ein zentrales Prinzip vieler Designdisziplinen und Methodiken dar. Strategien der Designmethodologie nutzen daher ausreichend Raum für kreative Unschärfen, um das Unbekannte zu erschließen. So bieten sie ein nützliches Methodenrepertoire und einen strategischen Ansatzpunkt für das Erreichen der SDG.

Beim vorliegenden Beitrag handelt es sich um die Schriftfassung der Stellungnahme, die der Autor in seiner Funktion als finanzwissenschaftlicher Sachverständiger im Rahmen der Anhörung des Ausschusses für Heimat, Kommunales, Bauen und Wohnen zum Gesetzentwurf der Landesregierung zur Regelung der Zuweisungen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen an die Gemeinden und Gemeindeverbände im Haushaltsjahr 2019 (GFG 2019 – Landtag Nordrhein-Westfalen – Drucksache 17/3302) abgegeben hat. Die Stellungnahme bezieht sich nicht auf die Gesamtheit aller vorgenommen Neureglungen. Vielmehr wird sich auf die folgenden – als wesentlich angesehenen – Punkte der geplanten Änderung des Finanzausgleichsgesetzes konzentriert: Beibehaltung des Verbundquotensatzes in Höhe von 23 %, Keine Gewährung einer kommunalen Mindestfinanzausstattung, Unveränderte Dotierung der Teilschlüsselmassen für Gemeinden, Kreise und Landschaftsverbände, Aktualisierung der Werte für die Einwohnergewichtung im Rahmen der Hauptansatzstaffel, Anpassung der Gewichtungsfaktoren für die bestehenden Nebenansätze (Schüler-, Soziallasten-, Zentralitäts- sowie Flächenansatz), Beibehaltung der bisherigen Zuweisungen für besondere Bedarfe sowie die geplanten Veränderungen von Investitions- und Sonderpauschalen. Verschiedene Studien geben schon erste Hinweise darauf, dass gegenwartsorientierte Verlaufsanpassungen keine Einzelfälle, sondern möglicherweise der Normalfall bei Finanzmarktprognose-Zeitreihen sein könnten. Allerdings beschränken sich einige dieser Studien auf die Betrachtung von nur wenigen Prognosezeitreihen. Andere Untersuchungen betrachten verhältnismäßig kurze Prognosezeitreihen. Die meisten Studien setzen sich lediglich mit Prognosen zu einzelnen nationalen Finanzmarktsegmenten auseinander. Es fehlt also eine große, international vergleichende Studie, die eine hohe Zahl langer Prognosezeitreihen untersucht. Die vorliegende Untersuchung soll diese Forschungslücke schließen. Im Folgenden werden 158.022 Zinsprognosen in 1.182 Prognosezeitreihen aus zwölf verschiedenen Nationen untersucht. Erst diese umfassende Datenauswertung macht es möglich, zu einer gesicherten Einschätzung darüber zu kommen, wie häufig gegenwartsorientierte Verlaufsanpassungen auftreten. Außerdem wird überprüft, ob es unabhängig vom Prognosehorizont, vom Kapitalmarktsegment und von den betrachteten Ländern zu gegenwartsorientierten Verlaufsanpassungen kommt. Das zweite Kapitel stellt die Datenbasis und die verwendete Methodik vor. Das dritte Kapitel ist der Ergebnisdarstellung vorbehalten. Das vierte Kapitel zeigt mögliche Ursachen für gegenwartsorientierte Verlaufsanpassungen auf. Eine Zusammenfassung findet sich im fünften Kapitel.

Abstract:

Die Auswirkungen von Selbstüberschätzung betreffen viele Bereiche des wirtschaftlichen Lebens. Doch es sind bisher nur wenige Faktoren bekannt, die das Ausmaß möglicher Selbstüberschätzungen bestimmen. Zudem gibt es kaum Untersuchungen, ob positive oder negative Emotionen einen Einfluss auf die Selbsteinschätzung haben. Ob Emotionen mögliche Lerneffekte bei der Selbsteinschätzung beeinträchtigen können, ist bisher noch gar nicht untersucht worden. Die vorliegende Studie wendet sich dieser Fragestellung zu. In einem Real-Effort-Task-Experiment werden den Probanden in 5 Spielrunden Aufgaben gestellt. Nach jeder Spielrunde sollen die Probanden ihre Leistung einschätzen. Anschließend erhalten sie jeweils ein Feedback, wie sie tatsächlich abgeschnitten haben. Auf diese Weise werden Lerneffekte möglich. Die Stimmungsinduktion wird durch positive (Treatment „Positiv“), negative (Treatment „Negativ“) und neutrale (Treatment „Neutral“) Filmausschnitte erzeugt. Sowohl hinsichtlich der absoluten Overconfidence als auch hinsichtlich der relativen Overconfidence zeigen sich keine signifikanten Unterschiede zwischen den drei Treatments. Im Hinblick auf das Auftreten von Lerneffekten zeigt sich dann aber doch ein Unterschied zwischen den Stimmungslagen. Bei Betrachtung der absoluten Overconfidence zeigen sich in neutraler Stimmungslage deutliche Lerneffekte. Diese Lerneffekte bleiben hingegen sowohl bei positiver als auch bei negativer Stimmungslage aus.

Abstract:

The Greater Yellowstone Area (GYA) is one of the last remaining large and nearly intact temperate ecosystems on Earth (Reese 1984; NPSa undated). GYA was originally defined in the 1970s as the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, which encompassed the minimum range of the grizzly bear (Schullery 1992). The boundary was enlarged through time and now includes about 22 million acres (8.9 million ha) in northwestern Wyoming, south central Montana, and eastern Idaho. Two national parks, five national forests, three wildlife refuges, 20 counties, and state and private lands lie within the GYA boundary. GYA also includes the Wind River Indian Reservation, but the region is the historical home to several Tribal Nations. Federal lands managed by the US Forest Service, the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service amount to about 64% (15.5 million acres [6.27 million ha] or 24,200 square miles [62,700 km2]) of the land within the GYA. The federal lands and their associated wildlife, geologic wonders, and recreational opportunities are considered the GYA’s most valuable economic asset. GYA, and especially the national parks, have long been a place for important scientific discoveries, an inspiration for creativity, and an important national and international stage for fundamental discussions about the interactions of humans and nature (e.g., Keiter and Boyce 1991; Pritchard 1999; Schullery 2004; Quammen 2016). Yellowstone National Park, established in 1872 as the world’s first national park, is the heart of the GYA. Grand Teton National Park, created in 1929 and expanded to its present size in 1950, is located south of Yellowstone National Park1 and is dominated by the rugged Teton Range rising from the valley of Jackson Hole. The Gallatin-Custer, Shoshone, Bridger-Teton, Caribou-Targhee, and Beaverhead-Deerlodge national forests encircle the two national parks and include the highest mountain ranges in the region. The National Elk Refuge, Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, and Grays Lake National Wildlife Refuge also lie within GYA.

Um den Bedarf für verbraucherpolitische Maßnahmen ökonomisch zu begründen, bedient man sich oft anderen Ansätzen als der Neoklassik. Dieser Aspekt bedarf hinsichtlich seiner verbraucherpolitischen Implikationen einer differenzierteren Betrachtung. So finden sich auch im neoklassischen Theorierahmen Hinweise darauf, dass es nicht allein mögliche Wettbewerbsprobleme sind, die zu einer Beeinträchtigung der Interessen der Verbraucher führen. Vielmehr lassen sich unter Bezug auf die wesentlichen Bestimmungsfaktoren und Merkmale des Nachfrageverhaltens auf Güter- und Dienstleistungsmärkten die neoklassische Kategorisierung unterschiedlicher Güterarten ebenso wie die Analyse des Auftretens von externen Effekten bei Produktion und Konsum verschiedene Anknüpfungspunkte für verbraucherpolitische Maßnahmen jenseits der reinen Wettbewerbspolitik benennen. Die Hervorhebung von allein wettbewerbspolitischen Maßnahmen zum Schutz des Verbrauchers kann demgegenüber zum einen – wie bereits angedeutet – auf das neoklassische Verhaltensmodell in Gestalt des Homo oeconomicus und daraus sich ableitende verbraucherpolitische Leitbilder zurückgeführt werden. Zum anderen korrespondiert die Betonung der Wettbewerbspolitik aber auch mit den Annahmen und Folgerungen der Allgemeinen Gleichgewichtstheorie als einem weiteren zentralen Bestandteil des neoklassischen Ansatzes. Dieser Beitrag schließt mit einer Auflistung von Kritikpunkten an der neoklassischen Theorie des Konsumentenverhaltens, die für eine eigenständige Verbraucherpolitik von hohem Stellenwert sind, die im Rahmen dieses Ansatzes jedoch keine angemessene Berücksichtigung finden.
