Abstract:
Článek v rámci unijního aktérství dále analyzuje cíle, zájmy a nástroje, jež EU ve své energetické politice sleduje a využívá vůči těmto zemím subsaharské Afriky. Článek používá modifikovanou podobu vnějšího energetického aktérství EU založeného na třech kritériích, jimž jsou: (1) vnímání aktéra třetí stranou, (2) cíle a zájmy politiky, a (3) zdroje a nástroje politiky.

Abstract:
Kema is one of the districts in Minahasa Utara Regency located on the southern coast of Sulawesi Utara. Currently, Kema is known as a densely populated fishing village which is divided into Kema Satu, Kema Dua, and Kema Tiga. Based on historical data, Kema has been known since the 16 century by European sailors who stopped to fill drinking water, then expanded into a port city. This study aims to determine the rise and fall of the existence of Kema in the global trade of the Sulawesi Sea in the colonial period based on archaeological and historical data. This study uses a historical archeology approach that combines archaeological data with historical data. Research stages include data collection phase, data analysis, and conclusion. The results indicate archaeological evidence shows that Kema was an advanced settlement, covering the settlement patterns and road networks, ports and supporting facilities, houses of worship, residential buildings, markets, and communications networks. Archaeological evidence and historical data reveal that Kema is known as a seaport that plays an important role in global trading during the Colonial period. Kema is even designated as one of the free ports in Sulawesi Sea. The role of Kema is currently declining, only as a fishing port no longer as an ocean port.

Abstract:
Kera is an Eastern Chadic language spoken by about 50,000 people in southwestern Chad, south of the town of Fianga, and in major towns of Cameroon and Chad. Most Kera speakers would claim to speak a standard variety of Kera although there is some variation depending on gender and location. The differences involve the relationship between tone and voicing, the number of contrastive tones and the presence or absence of a voicing contrast. Women are more conservative than men in the use of tone in rural settings and more innovative than men in urban settings (Pearce 2009). Previous literature on Kera includes Ebert (1975, 1976, 1979) and Pearce (1999, 2006a, b, c, 2007a, 2008, 2009).

Abstract:
Kernel entropy component analysis (KECA) is a newly proposed dimensionality reduction (DR) method, which has showed superiority in many pattern analysis issues previously solved by principal component analysis (PCA). The optimized KECA (OKECA) is a state-of-the-art variant of KECA and can return projections retaining more expressive power than KECA. However, OKECA is sensitive to outliers and accused of its high computational complexities due to its inherent properties of L2-norm. To handle these two problems, we develop a new extension to KECA, namely, KECA-L1, for DR or feature extraction. KECA-L1 aims to find a more robust kernel decomposition matrix such that the extracted features retain information potential as much as possible, which is measured by L1-norm. Accordingly, we design a nongreedy iterative algorithm which has much faster convergence than OKECA’s. Moreover, a general semisupervised classifier is developed for KECA-based methods and employed into the data classification. Extensive experiments on data classification and software defect prediction demonstrate that our new method is superior to most existing KECA- and PCA-based approaches. Code has been also made publicly available.

Abstract:
Kernel entropy component analysis (KECA) reveals the original data’s structure by kernel matrix. This structure is related to the Renyi entropy of the data. KECA maintains the invariance of the original data’s structure by keeping the data’s Renyi entropy unchanged. This paper described the original data by several components on the purpose of dimension reduction. Then the KECA was applied in celestial spectra reduction and was compared with Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Kernel Principal Component Analysis (KPCA) by experiments. Experimental results show that the KECA is a good method in high-dimensional data reduction.

Abstract:
In this paper, the authors present a novel Gabor wavelet based Kernel Entropy Component Analysis (KECA) method by integrating the Gabor wavelet transformation (GWT) of facial images with the KECA method for enhanced face recognition performance. Firstly, from the Gabor wavelet transformed images the most important discriminative desirable facial features characterized by spatial frequency, spatial locality and orientation selectivity to cope with the variations due to illumination and facial expression changes were derived. After that KECA, relating to the Renyi entropy is extended to include cosine kernel function. The KECA with the cosine kernels is then applied on the extracted most important discriminating feature vectors of facial images to obtain only those real kernel ECA eigenvectors that are associated with eigenvalues having positive entropy contribution. Finally, these real KECA features are used for image classification using the L1, L2 distance measures; the Mahalanobis distance measure and the cosine similarity measure. The feasibility of the Gabor based KECA method with the cosine kernel has been successfully tested on both frontal and pose-angled face recognition, using datasets from the ORL, FRAV2D, and the FERET database.

Abstract:
Using 129 natural conversations and 185 episodes of television drama conversations as well as the theoretical frameworks of usage-based theory and grammaticalization, I investigate two forms of ‘or’ in Korean, tunci and kena. Generally believed to be largely interchangeable, these two forms’ actual usages have never been compared. I demonstrate that the two are selectively used in conversation, and propose that three types of factor influence the selection. The first factors are genre and setting. In formal settings and formal descriptive writing, kena is preferred. The second factor is the presence of negative markers: while 43% of kena tokens were used in negative sentences, only one token of tunci was. The third factor is the distinction between ‘propositive’ tunci and ‘descriptive’ kena. In conversation, tunci occurs mainly in making suggestions and presenting plans, and hence is oriented toward the future tense and the irrealis domain. Kena occurs mainly in describing present and past situations, facts, or premises, and hence is oriented toward the present and past tense and the realis domain. This study confirms the usage-based theory’s argument that speakers possess extensive procedural knowledge of language: Korean speakers may not be conscious of it, but they differentiate tunci and kena with high regularity. Lastly, I explain their differences based on their history. The older form, kena, dates back to the 8th century, whereas tunci became widespread only in the 19th century. Because tunci retains its original semantics of probability, tunci tends to occur in presenting suggestions and plans (irrealis) and not in factual descriptions.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Many regulatory and diagnostic programs for the detection ofSalmonella enterica serotype Enteritidis infection in commercial poultry flocks have relied on rapid Pullorum agglutination tests to screen birds because of the shared antigens of S. enterica Enteritidis and S. enterica Pullorum and Gallinarum; however, the use of the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) format affords better analytical sensitivity than crude agglutination tests. In this study, we adapted our earlier conventional indirect ELISA, using gm flagellin as the antigen, to a kinetics-based, computer-controlled ELISA (KELA). The KELA was used to screen for flagellin antibody from three commercial flocks: (i) a large flock involved in a U.S. Department of Agriculture trace back from a humanS. enterica Enteritidis foodborne outbreak (n = 3,209), (ii) a flock infected with the endemicS. enterica Enteritidis serotype but which also had multiple other salmonella serotypes (n = 65), and (iii) an S. enterica Pullorum-infected flock (n = 12). The first flock (S. entericaEnteritidis prevalence of 2.45% based on culture) provided a field test of the KELA and allowed the calculation of diagnostic sensitivity (D-Sn) and diagnostic specificity (D-Sp). With a cutoff of 10 (used for screening flocks [i.e., high sensitivity]), the KELA has a D-Sn of 95.2% and a D-Sp of 18.5%; with a cutoff of 140 (used in confirmatory flock testing [i.e., high specificity]), the KELA has a D-Sn of 28.0% and a D-Sp of 99.1%. We found that with a cutoff of 60 (D-Sn = 63.1%; D-Sp = 91.6%), we could eliminate reactions in the KELA caused by other non-S. enterica Enteritidis salmonellae. The KELA was also compared to two commercial rapid Pullorum tests, the Solvay (D-Sn = 94.9%; D-Sp = 55.5%) and the Vineland (D-Sn = 62.0%; D-Sp = 75.3%).

The applying of many drugs in elderly and old people often is the reason of liver dysfunction. Thereat, the risk of liver fibroid induration, acute and chronic hepatitis increases during aging. It is the reason to find new, effective and harmless hepatoprotectors. In the review is shown the data of hepatoprotective, immunoprotective and antiageing properties of liver polypeptide complex (Ventvil) and KEDA tetrapeptide ( Lys-Glu-Asp-Ala , Livagen). In liver pathology experimental models (liver fibroid induration, acute and chronic hepatitis) in amimals and in vitro was shown high efficiency of Ventvil and KEDA peptide. Ventvil and KEDA peptide had concordant effects - normalized immune and antioxidant status, restored liver function during hepatitis. It was demonstrated, that maximal hepato- and immunoprotective effect of peptides verified in aging.

Abstract:
PURPOSE: To investigate blood creatinine and renal histology in rats anesthetized with S(+)-ketamine (keta) or dexmedetomidine (dex) and submitted to kidney ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI). METHODS: Under intraperitoneal (ip) S(+)-ketamine, 20 male Wistar rats were divided into two groups (n=10): maintenance with iv S(+)-ketamine or dex (keta and dex groups), and submitted to right (R) nephrectomy and left (L) renal artery clamping for 45 min. Blood creatinine was measured before ischemia (T1) and 48h after reperfusion (T2), when L nephrectomy was performed. Histological analysis was performed in all kidneys. RESULTS: Blood creatinine was significantly higher at T2 in both groups, but dex group results were lower than those of keta group. Histological changes: between groups, R kidneys did not differ; there were significant high scores for vascular dilation: keta L kidneys; for vascular congestion, tubular dilation, and necrosis: L kidneys from both groups; for tubular degeneration: keta R kidneys. CONCLUSION: S(+)-ketamine plus IRI were aggressive to rat kidneys, according to histological changes, and dexmedetomidine may have not totally protected the kidneys from these injuries, despite the better results of blood creatinine.

Abstract:
Keratocan and lumican are keratan-sulfate proteoglycans (KSPG), which have a critical role in maintaining corneal clarity. To determine whether these KSPGs have a role in corneal inflammation, we examined Kera–/– and Lum–/– mice in a model of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced keratitis in which wild-type mice develop increased corneal thickness and haze due to neutrophil infiltration to the corneal stroma. Corneal thickness increases caused by LPS mice were significantly lower in Kera–/– and Lum–/– than wild-type mice. Further, LPS-injected Lum–/– mice had elevated corneal haze levels compared with that of Kera–/– and wild-type. At 24 h post-injection, total enhanced green fluorescent protein-positive bone marrow-derived inflammatory cells in chimeric mice was significantly lower in Kera–/– mice and Lum–/– mice compared with wild-type mice. Neutrophil infiltration was inhibited in Kera–/– and Lum–/– mice at 6 and 24 h post-stimulation, with Lum–/– corneas having the most profound defect in neutrophil migration. Reconstitution of keratocan and lumican expression in corneas of Kera–/– and Lum–/– mice using adeno-keratocan and adeno-lumican viral vectors, respectively, resulted in normal neutrophil infiltration in response to LPS. Immunoprecipitation/Western blot analysis showed that lumican and keratocan core proteins bind the CXC chemokine KC during a corneal inflammatory response, indicating that corneal KSPGs mediate neutrophil recruitment to the cornea by regulating chemokine gradient formation. Together, these data support a significant role for lumican and keratocan in a corneal inflammatory response with respect to edema, corneal clarity, and cellular infiltration.

Abstract:
Purpose. To analyze the keratectasia area (KEA) shown in corneal topography before and after corneal cross-linking (CXL) in patients with progressive keratoconus (KC) and figure out whether KEA is appropriate for evaluating the effect of CXL. Methods. A retrospective analysis was conducted in 34 eyes from 24 progressive KC patients who have underwent CXL from 2015 to 2017. Area with K-value more than 47D shown in the corneal topography was marked and identified as KEA. Keratometry (K1, K2, and Kmax), KEA, thinnest corneal thickness (TCT), and endothelial cell density (ECD) were evaluated preoperatively or at months 3, 6, and 12 postoperatively. The changes of KEA before and after operation were evaluated. The relation of KEA and other parameters, including Kmax and TCT, was analyzed. Results. Linear regression model revealed the KEA, Kmax, K1, and K2 decreased after CXL in model y = 0.9622 -0.02408 x (P<0.05), y = 0.9982 -0.003469 x(P<0.05), y = 0.9977 + -0.001347 x(P<0.05), y = 0.9992 + -0.001779 x(P<0.05) (y represents KEA, Kmax, K1, or K2; x represents time (month)). The KEA is significantly decreased in early stage (before month 3) (P<0.05); however, the Kmax, K1, and K2 have no significant decrease in early stage (P= 0.09, 0.19, 0.32). Conclusions. The KEA is more sensitive than K-value in describing the morphological changes of cornea after CXL, especially in early stage after treatment.

Abstract:
Multiple phases with phase to phase transitions are important characteristics of many batch processes. The linear characteristics between phases are taken into consideration in the traditional algorithms while nonlinearities are neglected, which can lead to inaccuracy and inefficiency in monitoring. The focus of this paper is nonlinear multi-phase batch processes. A similarity metric is defined based on kernel entropy component analysis (KECA). A KECA similarity-based method is proposed for phase division and fault monitoring. First, nonlinear characteristics can be extracted in feature space via performing KECA on each preprocessed time-slice data matrix. Then phase division is achieved with the similarity variation of the extracted feature information. Then, a series of KECA models and slide-KECA models are established for steady and transitions phases respectively, which can reflect the diversity of transitional characteristics objectively and preferably deal with the stage-transition monitoring problem in multistage batch processes. Next, in order to overcome the problem that the traditional contribution plot cannot be applied to the kernel mapping space, a nonlinear contribution plot diagnosis algorithm is proposed, which is easier, more intuitive and implementable compared with the traditional one. Finally, simulations are performed on penicillin fermentation and industrial application. Specifically, the proposed method detects the abnormal agitation power and the abnormal substrate supply at 47 h and 86 h, respectively. Compared with traditional methods, it has better real-time performance and higher efficiency. Results demonstrate the ability of the proposed method to detect faults accurately and effectively in practice.

Abstract:
AbstractWe investigated the risk of diphyllobothriasis from ingestion of wild Pacific salmon in Japan by surveying Diphyllobothrium plerocercoids in 182 salmon samples obtained from Japan. The plerocercoids were not detected in chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) (0/26), called Akizake in Japan, caught between September and November. However, the detection rate of plerocercoids in chum salmon, called Tokishirazu in Japan, caught between early April and June, was 51.1% (24/47) with an average of two plerocercoid larvae per fish. The detection rates of cherry salmon (Oncorhynchus masou) and pink salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha) were 12.2% (10/82) and 18.5% (5/27), respectively, and the average number of plerocercoids per fish was 0.45 (37 larvae/82 fishes) and 0.22 larvae (6 larvae/27 fishes), respectively. Plerocercoids isolated from O. keta and O. masou were identified as Diphyllobothrium nihonkaiense on the basis of molecular analysis of the cox1 and nad3 genes. Moreover, four tapeworms (three from O. keta and one from O. masou) were obtained by infecting golden hamsters with plerocercoids. The morphological features of these tapeworms were similar to those of D. nihonkaiense isolated from humans. Therefore, we think that O. keta and not O. masou is the most important source of plerocercoid infections in Japan.

Abstract:
In 1680 Jean Barbot made the following observation about the religious institutions found in the Slave Coast Ewe communities of Keta and Anlo: “Their…religion [is] much the same as on the Gold Coast, only they have a vast quantity of idols…” A similar observation was made by Danish cartographer P. Thøning on his 1802 map of the lower Volta, when he described a site near the Anlo capitol of Anloga, as an “Amegase fetisch-plads,” an important religious shrine. Subsequently this shrine was identified as that which belonged to one of the clans from whose ranks was chosen the awoamefia, the highest leadership position in Anlo. In 1935 this clan, the Bate, was, in turn, described by the German missionary D. Westermann as composed of priests, soothsayers, and magicians. It is not surprising then, given such references, that R.A. Kea suggested that “the Anlo ruler's supremacy was based, at least initially on religious and ritual ascendancy.”In 1978, however, when Anlo elders were consulted on this issue, most were surprisingly vehement in their denials of any such association, past or present, between religious concerns and the offices in the Anlo political system, particularly that of the awoamefia. They pointed to the popular traditions--those published in local textbooks and recited at annual festivals--to support their contention that the two clans which had gained custody of the awoamefia office, the Adzovia and Bate, had gained and retained the same through the “right of inheritance” and the “right of service” respectively.

Abstract:
For the characteristics of nonlinear and multi-phase in the batch process, a self-adaptive multi-phase batch process fault diagnosis method is proposed in this paper. Firstly, kernel entropy component analysis (KECA) method is used to achieve multi-phase partition adaptively, which makes the process data mapped into the high-dimensional feature space and then constructs the core entropy and the angular structure similarity. Then a multi-phase KECA failure monitoring model is developed by using the angular structure similarity as the statistic, which is based on the partitioned phases and the effective failure features by the KECA feature extraction method. A multi-phase batch process fault diagnosis method, which applies the multi-class support vector machines (MSVM) and fireworks algorithm (FWA), is proposed to recognize each sub-phase fault diagnosis automatically. The effectiveness and advantages of the proposed multi-phase fault diagnosis method are illustrated with a case study on a fed-batch penicillin fermentation process.

Abstract:
The reduction of vowels is a popular topic for research, but little has been said about the effects of vowel harmony on vowel reduction. Gendrot and Adda-Decker (2006, 2007) claim that phonetic reduction is linked to the phonetic duration of the vowel so that in short syllables, the vowel converges towards a schwa-like quality. I support this claim in general, but I add the claim that reduction is blocked in vowel harmony domains. Within a harmony domain, even in vowels of short duration, the quality of the vowel retains the quality of the feature which is spreading. This paper demonstrates this with data from Kera, a Chadic language spoken in Chad. I examine fronting, rounding, and height harmony in Kera and confirm the fact that harmony (but not accidental agreement) in some way blocks the reduction. This has implications for the role of harmony and claims concerning privative features. Keywords: phonology; reduction; Kera; vowel harmony; acoustic; formants; duration; blocking; privative

Abstract:
The research attempted to describe the ecosophy of “Cangkir Kera” in Riau Malay Folklore “Banglas Antara Rintis” written by Hang Kafrawi. The kind of research is library research and the method used was descriptive-qualitative. The data was collected by using simak method. The data analysis applies agih method with the deletion technique and the substitution technique. The data used was written language related to ecolinguistic in Banglas Antara Rintis written by Hang Kafrawi, et al. The result of the research shows that Allah SWT has given Malay the environment with various types of plants. One unique plant is “Cangkir Kera” which can be used as a medium of medicine for anyone who coughs. The old Malays use pure water in a “Cangkir Kera” to treat coughing and other kinds of disease. This way is a form of local Malay wisdom in utilizing their environment by always expecting help from Allah SWT.
