Abstract:
Layered gneisses in the Winnipeg River subprovince contain magmatic zircon with U–Pb ages of 3317 ± 9 and 3055 ± 4 Ma at Tannis Lake, and ~3170 and 3255 ± 5 Ma at Cedar Lake, indicating widespread occurrence of Mesoarchean crust. This is in contrast to the well-documented Neoarchean age of the western Wabigoon subprovince. Further geochronology using both SHRIMP (sensitive high resolution ion microprobe) and ID-TIMS (isotope dilution thermal ionization mass spectrometry), combined with structural observations, in the Kenora area and Lake of the Woods greenstone belt show the effects of juxtaposition of these two terranes. Isoclinally folded gneiss north of the subprovince boundary zone near Kenora gives a magmatic age of 2882 ± 2 Ma with 3051 ± 6 Ma inheritance. Ages of syntectonic dykes show that asymmetric refolding of these gneisses occurred between 2717 ± 2 and about 2713 ± 1 Ma. Subsequent regional vertical flattening and horizontal extension are dated at 2708 ± 2 Ma by syntectonic tonalite sheets. These events are broadly coeval with deposition of orogenic sediments in the Warclub Group and a first stage of regional folding (age brackets of 2716–2709 Ma) in the Lake of the Woods greenstone belt to the south. A second stage of folding and regional faulting in the greenstone belt occurred about 2695 ± 4 Ma and is approximately coeval with open upright folding in the Winnipeg River subprovince. These observations are consistent with overthrusting and collapse of a Mesoarchean continental terrane by a juvenile Neoarchean arc terrane over the time span 2717–2695 Ma.

Abstract:
I present the first documented records of Gray Treefrog, Hyla versicolor, from the Red Lake area of Kenora District in northwestern Ontario. A photograph of H. versicolor was taken at a locality west-northwest of the town of Red Lake in 2007 and another east of Red Lake in 2009. H. versicolor choruses were heard at 11 localities east and southeast of Red Lake in June 2008, and were tape recorded at 5. These seven documented records are 46-56 km north-northwest of the previous most northern voucher, west of the town of Ear Falls, and they represent the most northern locations known for H. versicolor in Ontario.

Abstract:
We analyzed 36 years of records for climate, hydrology, and the chemistry of precipitation and runoff from the Lake 239 (Rawson Lake) catchment at the Experimental Lakes Area (Ontario, Canada). No evidence of significant periodicity was found for any variable in the Experimental Lakes Area records. The longer (67-year) record from nearby Kenora, Ontario, revealed a 31-year cycle in precipitation but not temperature. Significant increasing long-term trends at the Experimental Lakes Area were found for annual and winter temperature and summer precipitation and deposition of ammonium, total nitrogen (TN), and total dissolved nitrogen (TDN). Large (80%) increases in ammonium deposition appear to be related to higher emissions in the central United States. A significant negative trend for dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in precipitation cannot be explained. In runoff, significant positive trends were found for TDN and DOC in the northeast catchment and TN, TDN, ammonium, and DOC in the northwest. Significant negative trends were found for TDP and nitrate in the northeast. Significant increases were found for retention of ammonium in all catchments and DOC in the northeast and northwest. There was no apparent relationship between forest succession and retention of nutrients. Results are compared with those from three other long-term monitoring sites in eastern North America.

Abstract:
The range of Ixodes scapularis is expanding in Ontario, increasing the risk of Lyme disease. As an effective public health response requires accurate information on disease distribution and areas of risk, this study aims to establish the geographic distribution of I. scapularis and its associated pathogen, B. burgdorferi, in northwestern Ontario. We assessed five years of active and passive tick surveillance data in northwestern Ontario. Between 2013 and 2017, 251 I. scapularis were submitted through passive surveillance. The submission rate increased over time, and the proportion infected with B. burgdorferi was 13.5%. Active tick surveillance from 2014 to 2016 found few I. scapularis specimens. In 2017, 102 I. scapularis were found in 10 locations around the city of Kenora; 60% were infected with B. burgdorferi, eight tested positive for A. phagocytophilum, and one for POWV. I. scapularis ticks were found in 14 locations within the Northwestern Health Unit area, with seven locations containing B. burgdorferi-positive ticks. We found abundant I. scapularis populations in the southern portion of northwestern Ontario and northward expansion is expected. It is recommended that I. scapularis populations continue to be monitored and mitigation strategies should be established for rural northern communities.

Raymond, Gerald P. "Performance assessment of a railway turnout geotextile." Canadian Geotechnical Journal 23, no. 4 (November 1, 1986): 472–80. http://dx.doi.org/10.1139/t86-077.

Full text
Abstract:
Many railways have been making increasing use of the heavier mass per unit area geotextiles, bringing into question the financial viability of their use. In order to assess the viability of turnout geotextiles, two closely spaced turnouts, positioned on an embankment constructed of compacted clay at Rosser, near Winnipeg, were rehabilitated in September 1981. Under one turnout, a Turn Out Pack System (TOPS) geotextile of variable mass per unit area (550–1100 g/m2 (16–32 oz/yd2)) was used; with the other, no geotextile was used. The ballast was a metamorphic granodioritic gneiss known locally as Kenora granite. This article summarizes the findings of excavations made to assess the performance of the geotextile. The assessment excavations were made in August 1984 after an average of 13.6 × 106 gross tonnes (15 × 106 gross tons) per year per track of traffic. The results clearly show the damage penalty to the ballast from fouling caused at the nongeotextile locations. Key words: railways, ballast, subballast, geotextile, fouling, pumping, fines, equivalent opening size (EOS).

Abstract:
This study concerns the section of the trans-Shield route between Lake Simcoe and the boundary of Manitoba. The data were obtained from the Ontario Department of Highways for the period from 1958 to January 1965 and by personalinquiry carried out in May 1965. To what extent does this section link the two principal cores of the Canadian ecumene, that is, the Lower Great Lakes - St. Lawrence area and southern Alsama ? After having briefly presented the geographic environment in which the route is situated, the author presents a number of statistics. The annual average daily traffic outside the towns is light : 3,000 vehicles in the more popular sectors and less than 1,000 in the less frequented parts. There is a decrease in the intensity of traffic from east to west as jar as Dryden. For the entire 1,200 miles of highway, three fourths of the vehicles have Ontario license plates. East of Sault St. Marie, the vehicles from outside Ontario come mainly from the U.S.A. whereas in the Kenora area they are principally from Manitoba. Traffic is three to Jour times heavier in summer than in winter. In the winter season the number of non-Ontario cars is very small and there are relatively more trucks than in summer. In the month of May the situation is more similar to that in winter than to that in summer. In the last jive years the frequentation of the route bas greatly increased ; at Dinorwic the number of vehicles in July bas multiplied five times. From a regional point of view, three sectors should be recognized : (1) from Lake Simcoe to Sault St. Marie, (2) from Sault St. Marie to Dryden, and (3) extreme western Ontario. Economically, the Ontario section of the Trans-Canada Highway is not a profitable enterprise. Furthermore, this route appears to be much less transcontinental than the parallel rail line. In several ways the trans-Shield corridor presents a greater obstacle to the continuity of the Canadian population ecumene than the Rocky Mountains, or even the Appalachian barrier. Nevertheless, central Ontario is a part of the ecumene but it is only an « ecumene of liaison » with low intensity of occupance. An office of Trans-Canadian traffic should be created.

Full text
Abstract:
U–Pb zircon ages for 15 volcanic and plutonic units in the Noranda and Kirkland Lake areas help constrain the history of volcanism, plutonism, sedimentation, and deformation in the south-central part of the Abitibi belt. Volcanism occurred over an interval of at least 50 Ma, beginning with the deposition of the volcanic and volcaniclastic units within the Pacaud Structural Complex at 2747 Ma. Following a period of apparent quiescence, magmatism resumed at 2730–2725 Ma with the eruption of volcanic rocks in the Normétal and Lac Abitibi area. From 2715 until about 2698 Ma, volcanism occurred sporadically throughout much of the area, culminating in the eruption of the Blake River Group from 2703 to 2698 Ma. Several large intrusive bodies yield ages that indicate that they are plutonic equivalents of the Blake River Group. Plutons that are considered to have been emplaced during the Kenoran orogeny give ages that are only slightly younger than the youngest volcanic units of the Blake River Group, emphasizing the very rapid onset of Kenoran deformation following the cessation of volcanic activity. The Cléricy syenite, dated at 2682 ± 3 Ma, postdates the main period of Kenoran deformation in this area and intrudes sedimentary rocks of the Kewagama Group which contain detrital zircons as young as 2687 Ma. These data suggest that the Kewagama Group is the same age as late sedimentary sequences such as the Timiskaming Group and may have been deposited in a similar tectonic setting.

Full text
Abstract:
U–Pb zircon, titanite, and baddeleyite ages are reported for 20 volcanic and plutonic rock units in the Chibougamau, Matagami, and Joutel areas of the northern Abitibi belt. Pretectonic magmatism occurred in three main pulses. Volcanic rocks of the Obatagamau Formation in the Chibougamau area were erupted at 2759 Ma. Following a possible hiatus in igneous activity, volcanism, accompanied by the emplacement of layered mafic intrusions, occurred in the Chibougamau, Matagami and Joutel areas in the period of 2730–2722 Ma. In the Chibougamau area, a slightly younger period of plutonism between 2720 and 2712 Ma is thought to be comagmatic with felsic volcanic rocks in the uppermost part of the Roy Group. Syntectonic intrusive rocks in the northern Abitibi belt range in age from 2701 to 2693 Ma. These ages are broadly comparable to ages obtained for syntectonic plutons elsewhere in the Abitibi belt, suggesting that tectonism associated with the Kenoran orogeny occurred at approximately the same time throughout the belt.

Abstract:
Mafic and ultramafic orthogneisses from the western Grenville Province of Quebec adjacent to the Archean Superior Province (Canada) display geochemical characteristics that highlight processes that shaped the pre-Grenvillian Laurentian margin through late Archean to Mesoproterozoic time. Group I mafic and ultramafic granulites of the Parautochthonous Belt compositions overlap Archean Abitibi metavolcanic rocks (komatiites to Fe-rich andesites) supporting their autochthonous character. Limited variation of incompatible trace-element ratios with increasing differentiation suggests minimal sialic crust assimilation during petrogenesis and probable formation in an oceanic setting. Group II mafic tholeiites occur within both the Parautochthonous Belt and the Allochthonous Polycyclic Belt. Their compositions differ significantly from those of Archean rocks but overlap those of Proterozoic and modern continental tholeiites. Group III mafic calc-alkaline amphibolites, predominantly in the Allochthonous Polycyclic Belt, display chemical characteristics expected of magma derivation from subducted oceanic crust. In contrast to group I Archean meta-igneous rocks metamorphosed during the Kenoran orogeny, group III rocks do not record an early phase of large-ion lithophile element (LILE) metasomatism and granulite-facies metamorphism. As such, their emplacement is interpreted to postdate the Archean Kenoran metamorphism and to be Proterozoic in age. Group I rocks reflect an Archaean ensimatic greenstone belt environment; group II tholeiites reflect a Proterozoic continental rift environment; and group III rocks reflect a subduction-related source, possibly related to Andean-style, calc-alkaline magmatism.

Abstract:
The Scott Lake volcanogenic massive sulfide deposit lies near the margin of a large, early kinematic granitoid intrusion in the vicinity of Chibougamau, Quebec. The deposit was contact metamorphosed by the intrusion, and subsequently it was metamorphosed to the greenschist facies during the Kenoran Orogeny. Pyrite, magnetite, and sphalerite are the most abundant metallic minerals, and minor amounts of chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, and loellingite are also present. Both pyrite and magnetite locally occur as porphyroblasts up to several centimetres in diameter. Metamorphic textures developed in the massive sulfide ore appear to have formed during contact metamorphism, and they remained intact through the subsequent regional event. However, silicate minerals (biotite and possibly amphibole) that grew during contact metamorphism were largely retrograded during regional metamorphism. The presence of biotite indicates that contact metamorphism took place at 400°–500 °C. Application of the sphalerite geobarometer gives a pressure of approximately 4.5 kbar (450 MPa), which probably reflects the later regional event.

Abstract:
In the area of Ex Keneta Durres after 90' was populated by rural residents coming from other provinces. It is a poor area, an informal area in construction and employment of residents. Not all residents are integrated in social life.Analysis of this study aims to study crime and domestic violence by first polidimension all related factors to explain the social roots of crime in families.Domestic crime is one of the social problems in our country. Statistical data for the City of Durres speak for counting crimes increased violence, and also show that the family is getting "dangerous place" of crime. The focus of the study is the overall situation of social, economic, cultural, emotional, psychological, former residents of the swamp. Factors which are sources that generate domestic violence or crimes in the family. In the area of Ex Keneta Durres in july of 2004 with the decision of the Municipal Council of Durres was approved as the new administrative unit , comprising Region No. 6 The area of Ex Keneta is a new residential area , increase the number of arrivals from day to day. in this structure combines elements of various subcultures. The analysis aims at studying the social roots of crime that will be done from the perspective of theoretical paradigms. It also focuses on the role of the state and other agencies to create socialization-economic stability, but also to create conditions for "mental health" of citizens. Social problems of contemporary society have their roots in the past, the consequences in the present and in the future. The importance of the study appear in several elements: -A heterogeneity area residents coming from different provinces have different subcultures. -An area dominated traditional families with a large number of members, with some garland. -Domestic Relations built on customary mentality. -An area where there is fragmentation of families as the result of immigration. "The comunication matrix" is very imported in the socilism of the family mambers. For the realization of this study i have selected qualitative methods, such as:free intervists, structured. The study data are based on some searching methods: Quantitative methods, qualitative; Structured interviews; Official data from the Police Departament of Durres; The review of printed media; Survey 200.

Therefore, this study aims to determine the habitat, distribution, threats, and conservation efforts of proboscis monkeys in the Suwi River. To achieve this, the boat survey method was adopted, while plot line samples were used for vegetation analysis. The results showed that the habitat is composed of riverine plant species, such as prupuk (Mallotus sumatranus; IV=121.84%), bungur (Lagerstroemia speciosa; IV=37.10%), and rengas (Gluta renghas; IV=34.76%). Furthermore, a minimum of 12 monkey groups was distributed in this area, however, their population is unknown. Illegal hunting by local people has caused population decline, this is in addition to other threats, such as habitat conversion, forest fire, and invasive plant species. The effort to protect the habitat of proboscis monkeys was made by developing Essential Ecosystem Areas Suwi-Mesangat. Other institutions that committed to protecting this area include Federal and local government, NGO, local community, and palm oil company

Abstract:
To boost tax revenues from the SMEs sector, the government has reduced the income tax rate for SMEs through the issuance of PP Number 23 of 2018. Nevertheless, in some regions, the tax revenues from the SMEs sector have, unexpectedly, decreased. The purpose of this study is to investigate the reasons for the lack of compliance by SME taxpayers, using the theory of planned behaviour as a theoretical framework. This study employed an exploratory design using a qualitative approach, in which the service areas of the Singaraja tax office served as the research setting. The results of this study show that the primary determinant of SME taxpayers’ compliance in paying income tax is the taxpayers’ consciousness concerning the importance of tax revenues for the country’s financial wellbeing. This finding provides significant implications for the Indonesian tax authority concerning their mission to increase the compliance level of SMEs taxpayers in fulfilling their tax obligations. Abstract:
A U–Pb study of basement gneisses in the Thompson Belt yields the following results: a gneiss from the Thompson pit contains zircon, monazite, and titanite dated at 2772 ± 7, 1770 ± 2, and 1720 ± 5 Ma, respectively. An amphibolite boudin in the gneiss contains zircon dated at 2725 ± 9 and 1770–1760 Ma. A banded gneiss from the Manasan River area contains zircon with minimum ages of 3029–3078 and 2905–3112 Ma and monazite 1786 ± 2 Ma old. The paleosome of a lit-par-lit migmatite in the Sasagiu Rapids area contains zircon defining a discordia with intercepts at 3038 ± 6 and 1809 ± 14 Ma, whilst two types of titanite yield apparent ages of 1768 ± 5 and 1737 ± 5 Ma. Zircons from the granitic neosome define a discordia between 2655 ± 10 and 1726 ± 12 Ma.These data indicate that the Thompson Belt is underlain by two types of Archean crust: a "Pikwitonei-type" represented by 2.65–2.8 Ga old gneisses and a pre-Kenoran type older than 3000 Ma, possibly as old as 3.2–3.4 Ga. Basement reactivation lasted for 80–100 Ma and took place during the collision between the Trans-Hudson Orogen and the Superior Province.

Abstract:
Abstract The Rharb-Mamora basin is the foreland of the Rif Cordillera (orogenic belt). The Mamora area (northern Morocco) is located at the southern border of the Rharb basin and intercalated between the Alpine Rif Mountains to the north and the Hercynian Moroccan Meseta domain to the south. Analysis and interpretation of seismic lines, hydrogeological and oil wells, have allowed to precise the major structural elements of the Mamora area, which is covered by late Neogene sediments. The structure of the area is controlled by faults that also affect the Paleozoic basement. The NE-SW and NW-SE trending faults induce the palaeogeographical evolution and control, the facies distribution and the thickness variations. The most important or relevant structural feature of the Mamora area is the Kenitra-Sidi-Slimane fault (K2SF) [Zouhri et al., 2001]. This fault N110oE trending is south of the Rif Alpine thrust front and is marked by a progressive deepening of its northern compartment, at least since Cretaceous time. Thus the Mamora appears as a hinge between the Rharb Basin and the Moroccan Meseta from Cretaceous to Neogene time.

Abstract:
The Moroccan road network has a linear of more than 57,000 km divided into national, regional, provincial and unclassified roads. Population growth, the transport of goods and the mobility of people require the construction of new links between regions and the maintenance of existing ones. Indeed, several factors, such as rainfall and floods, can cause enormous damage to existing infrastructure. Among the most at-risk areas is the GHARB region, especially the province of Kénitra, represented in this study by Provincial Road RP4209, which includes flood-prone areas with abundant watercourses, associated with poor type of soil. To mitigate these phenomena and to try to reduce their impacts, in particular on the components of a road, one of the appropriate solutions remains the treatment of soils. This process is increasingly practiced in the construction industry, improves the geotechnical and mechanical characteristics of soils without having to go through the contribution of materials from other regions, all for the purpose of a valuation of materials in place by treatment with lime, different hydraulic binders, or industrial products, which will provide an economic and environmental gain

Abstract:
This paper reports on lithium metallogeny in geological time. The geochronological analysis was conducted on the basis of data on 71 lithium deposits distributed globally. These deposits contain almost all Li resources, which are industrially significant and of potential interest in terms of the economy. It was established that these deposits were formed in different geological epochs, from the Late Mesoarchean to the Holocene. The distribution of their resources on the scale of geological time is distinctly discrete. In the Kenoran, Columbian, and Rodinian supercontinent cycles, only pegmatite deposits of lithium were formed. In the Pangean cycle, the main resources are also attributed to pegmatite deposits, but some of them are concentrated in lithium–fluorine rare-metal granites. In the incomplete Amasian cycle, salars of geodynamically active areas play a main role in the resource base; the epithermal stratiform deposits, pegmatites, and lithium fluorine-granites are of much less significance.

Abstract:
Lassa fever is a viral hemorrhagic fever caused by the Lassa virus LASV, which was first isolated in the rodent Mastomys natalensis in 1974 in Kenema, Sierra Leone. As little is known about the abundance and the presence of LASV in rodents living in the Bo area, we carried out a small mammal longitudinal population survey. A standardized trapping session was performed in various habitats and seasons in six villages over two years (2014–2016) and samples collected were tested for arenavirus IgG and LASV. A Bayesian phylogenetic analysis was performed on sequences identified by PCR. A total of 1490 small mammals were collected, and 16 rodent species were identified, with M. natalensis (355, 24%) found to be the most prevalent species. Forty-one (2.8%) samples were IgG positive, and 31 of these were trapped in homes and 10 in surrounding vegetation. Twenty-nine of 41 seropositive rodents were M. natalensis. We detected four LASV by PCR in two villages, all found in M. natalensis. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the sequences were distributed within the Sierra Leonean clade within lineage IV, distinguishing a Bo sub-clade older than a Kenema sub-clade. Compared to other settings, we found a low abundance of M. natalensis and a low circulation of LASV in rodents in villages around Bo district.

A field experiment was conducted to study the response of different 11 wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars under saline condition and by applying saline irrigation water during rabi 2016-17 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sri Muktsar Sahib (Punjab). Experiment site was chosen with high salinity condition (EC=1.87 dS/m) to check the response of particular cultivars in these conditions. The field was only irrigated with tube well water having very high EC (4630 micro mhos/cm). Results showed that the grain yield was recorded higher in KH 65 (5648 kg/ha), KRL 210 (5440 kg/ha), KRL 386 (5290 kg/ha) and DBW 246 (5048 kg/ha) as compared to lower grain yield recorded with KRL 384 (4353 kg/ha), KRL 19 (4423 kg/ha), KRL 370 (4538 kg/ha), DBW 248 (4608 kg/ha),WH 1316 (4838 kg/ha), DBW 247 (4860 kg/ha) and KRL 377 (4895 kg/ha). The experimental site was slightly saline in nature, so the cultivar KH 65, KRL 210, KRL 386 and DBW 246 are very suitable for the area as these were less affected due to salinity. Grain yield among these varieties were higher due higher number of effective tiller per unit area and due to large number of grains per ear. Whereas, KH 65, KRL 377 and KRL 386 also produced significantly higher straw yield from WH 1316, DBW 248, DBW 247, KRL 210, KRL 384, DBW 246, KRL 370 and KRL 19.

Abstract:
Integrated farming system (IFS) is considered as one of the best option towards intensification of small holder farm income to ensure sustainable livelihood. Integration of resources is made through a combination of land, water and animal resources of a farm through careful planning including recycling of bio-resources. Governments and development agencies have designed projects/programmes in promoting IFS through demonstration of successful models and other means. Integration of resources is a process which involves great thought in investing in one of the resource combined and gaining benefits. This paper entails information on IFS adopted farms by analyzing three cases promoted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Khordha under ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture mandated to work on technology assessment, refinement and demonstration. All the IFS analyzed are pond based integrations involving crop-livestock and fish as major with minor integrations of enterprises like mushroom cultivation. The gross income of case 1 farmer was found to be Rs 5,19,600 from 0.8 ha in a pond based farming system followed by case 2 earning Rs 3,75,920 ( gross income) from an area of 1.872 ha crop based farming system and Rs 1, 50, 300 ( gross income) from an area of 0.8 ha crop based farming system adopting. The details of the case studies and economics are presented and these model farms play a great role in motivating nearby farmers in adoption of IFS. The study also concluded that adoption of IFS is profitable.

Abstract:
The city of Kenitra, located in the extreme downstream of the Sebou basin, is threatened by floods caused by the overflowing of the Oued Sebou and the rise of Oued Fouarat. The hydraulic modeling study of the Sebou Fouarat system in transient mode is carried out by the HEC-RAS software and has implicated the two rivers. Two geometric models were constructed on the basis of a digital terrain model (DTM) using the Arc-GIS and HECGeoRAS softwares after processing the collected topographic data. The first model, of which the areas of Merja Fouarat and Al Assam have been represented by cross-section, is one-dimensional. The second one is also onedimensional in which the two areas of Merja Fouarat and Al Assam are introduced as water storage zones. The components of these models are the stream sections, lateral links, storage areas and junctions between the branches of each model. The flood hydrographs of the Sebou and Fouarat rivers are introduced as conditions at the upstream limits of the models while the tidal is introduced as a downstream condition. After the stability and calibration of the models, the results of the consulted hydraulic simulations are the variations of the water levels as well as the temporal variations of the flow rates for each section, the maximum flow velocities and the propagation times of the flood waves. The analysis and comparisons of these results strongly suggest using the second model for the treatment of the flood issues as a decision-making tool helping to manage floods during times of crisis.

Abstract:
Chickpea (gram) is one of the most important legumes largely utilized in India and plays a vital role in improving the soil fertility with addition of nitrogen through biological nitrogen fixation. In Punjab, Gram accounts for only 0.02 per cent of area and 0.03 per cent of production of the country. However, the average yield in Amritsar district is 12.61 qha-1, which is substantially lower. There is great scope for increasing the productivity of chickpea, especially in Amritsar region. Keeping in view this fact, seventy one front line demonstrations were planned by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Amritsar on the improved cultural practices of gram for 5 consecutive years from 2009-10 to 2013-14. The present investigation was carried out across 38 villages in Amritsar (Punjab). Prevailing farmer’s practices were considered as control for comparison with recommended cultural practices for gram. An about of Rs. 16503 was received as net profit under improved practices as compared to Rs. 11645 in farmer’s practice. B: C ratio was 1.27 to 2.02 in demonstrations and in control was 1.11 to 1.77. The conducting the front line demonstrations with improved technologies, yield and net profit from gram crop can be improved to a considerable extent of the farming community.

Abstract:
SUMMARYA field experiment was conducted at Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore to study the effect of irrigation regimens on the biomass accumulation, canopy development, light interception and radiation use efficiency of sunflower. The treatments includes irrigating the plants at 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0 cumulative pan evaporation. The results indicated that the aboveground biomass, canopy development, radiation interception and radiation use efficiency were influenced favorably by the irrigation regimens. Irrespective of the irrigation regimen, the radiation use efficiency of sunflower increased from 15 DAS to 75 DAS and then tended to decline. The decrease in RUE after anthesis is coupled with decrease in leaf nitrogen content. In general the RUE of sunflower ranged from 0.49 g MJ-1 to 1.84 g MJ-1 at different growth stages. The light transmission within the canopy increased exponentially with plant height and the canopy extension coefficient is found to be 0.8.

Abstract:
Quartz arenites of the Fort Steele Formation, the lowest exposed stratigraphic unit of the Purcell Supergroup, have Nd crustal residence times (Tcr) of 2.61–2.63 Ga. These overlap the low end of the Tcr range of the polymetamorphic Kenoran–Hudsonian basement of southern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan. The Tcr values of overlying fine-grained Purcell rocks average 2.0 Ga.Near Lake Windermere, the basal Toby conglomerates of the Windermere Supergroup, apparently derived from underlying Purcell strata, have Tcr values of 1.98 and 2.03 Ga. Stratigraphically higher argillite and arkoses range from 2.35 to 2.54 Ga. This higher range indicates contributions from a source terrane different from the main body of the Purcell Supergroup. Our interpretation of events in the East Kootenay area is that early Purcell sedimentation (Fort Steele Formation) was derived from reworking of the crystalline basement of the Alberta shelf as the Beltian Sea transgressed. As the basin deepened, it was filled by fine-grained turbidites from a distal southern or southeastern source. Later Purcell strata have more complex paleocurrent direction patterns but relatively uniform Tcr values similar to those of the earlier turbidites. Following the East Kootenay orogeny, the basal conglomerate of the Windermere Supergroup (Toby Formation) consisted dominantly of locally derived clasts. These Purcell-derived strata grade upward into arkosic rocks with an admixture of Archean detrital material, probably from a proximal eastern source.

Abstract:
Food is a multidimensional science that has appeal among other social representations of food practices. This study aimed to characterize and identify the determinants of eating practices according to the social representations of a population in the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (RSK) region of Morocco. Data concerning socio-demographic characteristics were collected using a questionnaire. The social representations of dietary practices were obtained by characterizing three dietary practices. The main results showed that the high proportion of the study population is over 34 years old, is female, is married, and resides in the urban area. The most characteristic of good dietary practices chosen by the majority of the population was palatability, the factor chosen as the least characteristic of good dietary practices was traditional preparations. Among the studied factors, age, gender, higher level of education, professional occupation, "married" marital status, and involvement in purchasing and food preparation within the household are the determinants of certain representations.

Abstract:
The study was done in March 2020 in Dusun Gojang Utara, Bontomarannu Village, Bontomanai Sub-district, Selayar Islands District, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, aiming at exploring the opportunity and feasibility of “Kenari Forest” as a tourist attraction. A descriptive-status approach was used in this study that was sought to answer questions about real-life situations, and in addition, the scoring of potential tourism object/attraction utilized the 2003 ADO-ODTWA Guideline. Overall, Dusun Gojang Utara has a high potency as a community-based tourism destination, although there are four criteria needed improvement, nanely: accessibility, surrounding conditions, management and services, and climate. Unfortunately, Dusun Gojang Utara as a tourist village is yet to be the priority of the local government,. Indeed, as part of the Bontomarannu Village, this dusun is included as an agro-tourism development area, but the potential of this dusun is not for agro-tourism, instead its tourism attraction resides in the local livelihood itself.

Subject area Marketing Management, Product & Brand Management, Entrepreneurship. Study level/applicability This case can be taught effectively to MBA/BBA students as part of Marketing Management, Product & Brand Management, Entrepreneurship. Case overview The case talks about the marketing mix strategy of India’s fastest growing fast moving consumer goods (FMCGs) brand Patanjali, with a tremendous revenue growth rate of 100 per cent for the past five years, leaving major FMCG companies insomniac. Patanjali Ayurved Limited riding on Baba Ramdev’s brand equity positioned itself as an authentic Ayurved brand with ancient Indian roots. Patanjali’s product line ranges from healthcare, personal care, home care, to food and more. Patanjali’s products were priced 10-40 per cent lower than that of its competitors. Run by franchisees, Patanjali had a three-tier distribution system. These included Patanjali Chikitsalayas which were franchise dispensaries and clinics along with doctors, Patanjali Arogya Kendra which were health and wellness centres and Swadeshi Kendra, non-medicine outlets. The company has 15,000 exclusive outlets across India and plans to grow to 1,00,000 exclusive outlets by 2020. Patanjali amazed the world by achieving phenomenal success without spending much on advertising in its nascent stage. Recently Patanjali adopted the multinational corporation (MNC) style of advertising by hiring two top advertising agencies McCann and DDB Mudra to prepare the company for the next phase of growth. Patanjali diversified into various segments of the market, ranging from FMCG products, Ayurvedic medicines, Ayurvedic hospitals and a medical college. Patanjali plans to enter various categories of products including the beauty products segment to compete with major MNCs, the baby care segment to compete with Johnson & Johnson, and the sports segment to compete with Nike and Adidas. Patanjali as a brand has a strong positioning in the minds of consumers as a natural and Ayurvedic brand. Will Patanjali’s foray into so many diversified segments lead to a brand extension trap and confused positioning? Because Patanjali as a brand, solely rides on Baba Ramdev’s image, if Baba Ramdev ever finds himself at the centre of a controversy, will Patanjali’s brand equity take a hit? Will it affect the brand Patanjali? Even if Baba Ramdev does not get into any controversy, what will happen to the brand Patanjali when Baba Ramdev is no more? Who should be the next face of Patanjali? Can the brand survive without a face? Expected learning outcomes The case is designed to enable students to understand the following key learning points: The concept of marketing mix. Product mix, Promotion mix branding (especially “Person as a Brand”), customer-based brand equity (CBBE) model or brand resonance pyramid. Abstract:
Drugs or medicines are those which are used for treatment, diagnosis, mitigation and prevention of diseases. But it’s very expensive. Not or all but for lower and middle class people taking treatment is very difficult because of the cost of the medicines. Many deaths are caused because the patient cannot afford the cost of the medicines. The entry of generic medicines in market brought a revolutionary change in healthcare system and the market share is continuously increasing. The poor and needy sections of the society are getting benefitted because these are authentic, reliable, secure, affordable and accessible for all. Now there is an option available against the high cost branded medicines. Government of India is taking lot of steps to promote the availability of generic medicines both in rural and urban areas and also taking steps to aware people that it is equally safe and effective as that of branded medicines. Many pharmaceutical companies are manufacturing generic medicines and making them available in market through retail outlets. E-pharmacies are also functioning delivering generic medicines at home. Government has opened thousands of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) across the country where one can get generic medicines at much lower cost. The present article is based on the study to know the availability of generic medicines through PMBJK, comparison of prices between generic and branded medicines, reasons for the lower price of generic medicines and except PMBJK where generic medicines are available.
