Abstract:
Monitoring of various ambient air quality parameters like PM10, PM2.5, SO2, NOX and NH3 were carried out at four sampling stations near Joda of Keonjhar district, Odisha for a period of six months i.e. from October, 2015 to March, 2016. Meteorological parameters like wind speed and wind direction data were also recorded during the sampling period. Out of the four sampling stations, highest concentrations of different air pollutants were recorded at Jaroli and the lowest was recorded at Jalahari. Further, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was also calculated for these sampling locations. The AQI of V

Climate change has a disproportionate impact on communities that rely on natural resources, especially those in vulnerable, disaster-prone regions like Odisha, India. This study evaluates the climate vulnerability of the Juang tribes in Keonjhar district, using the Livelihood Vulnerability Index (LVI), which is based on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s model. Data were collected from 200 households, whose livelihoods primarily depend on agriculture and natural resources. Secondary data were also integrated to enhance the findings. The analysis identified "livelihood status" (0.5

The Fifth Five Year Plan by Govt of India introduced the concept of Primitive Tribal Groups (later termed as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups), since then a number of special development interventions are being extended for this vulnerable section through specially set up Micro Projects for effective implementation and all-round development of PVTGs. As compared to all the tribal communities inhabiting this country, the PVTGs are the most vulnerable, marginalised and isolated. A field trial was conducted during Rabi seasons (2012-13 and 2013-14) in the acidic soils of Keonjhar district of Odisha to assess the effect of lime, boron, and farmyard manure (FYM) on yield and quality of cauliflower (Brassica oleracea L. var. botrytis). The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with three replications and involved eighteen treatment combinations. These treatments consisted of two levels of FYM (0 and 5 t/ha), three levels of lime (0, 0.1 LR, and 0.2 LR), and three levels of boron (0, 0.5 kg/ha with 0.25% foliar spray and 1.0 kg/ha), with all plots receiving
